I love Mickey’s Magical Quest. It was one of my favorite games as a kid. I’d love a re-release. I used to (stupidly) sell my games to get new stuff. I stopped selling my games 25 years ago, but I got rid of old stuff back when I was young. I regret it so much. The SNES is one of my all time favorite systems. Great list!
The music and gameplay of UN Squadron is SUPER DOPE!!!! Been playing it since it came out in the early 90's! It was nice to have an energy bar instead of dying in one shot like most shootem ups!
The only game on the list I haven't fully played through is Ogre Battle. I remember getting frustrated with it towards the end because character development can go either way depending on positioning and tactics. I would get upset when a character wouldn't turn out the way I wanted. Great list though! Metal Warriors, Lemmings, Sparkster, and Axelay would also make great honorable mentions for hidden gems.
This is a good list for those just entering the SNES library. These games are at the top of the list "SNES underrated game iceberg." You could make a few more videos going deeper, as I honestly think there is at least 100 more underrated games below these.
I own three of these (Actraiser, UN Squadron and Ogre Battle). I agree on all three counts that these games were so often overlooked and really deserved more. I was happy when Actraiser Renaissance came out on the Switch, to give it a second go around.
I had so much fun with Actraiser! I appreciated everything it had. And so when Actraiser 2 came out, without the city-building, I didn't care to buy it.
Thank you for this video. I own a few of them and knew about all of them and agree. I am aware that not everyone knows about these fantastic games. Terranigma, one of the best games ever imo, never released in US so lots of people never got the chance experiencing it. Great video!
It's been years since I thought about U.N. Squadron. Used to be a frequent rental as a kid and I could never find a copy to buy. I'm surprised that never went on to become a franchise IP. Also I would have included Shadowrun as one the SNES's most underrated games of all time.
All of these games still look great for the most part. I loved Illusion of Gaia and the ending. Did not know until much later that Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma are all part of the same series
Liked.. I'm pretty sure all the list was rom games fir rne...I did half gaia.. i got stuck on the vampire.. nice list. There was like 2 I never heard of... looked nice. I heard of the first one... it looks fun. Back then.. ... that's like.. 20 30 years
It's a good list of great games, I have a nice handheld with good pixel density that I use for emulation, that's where I do most of my SNES gaming. I would choose Space Megaforce over U.N Squadron simply because I prefer trippy visuals and high pace, but they are both amazing games
I've played them all except Wild Guns (I played that coin-op at my local burger joint as kid) and Firemen. All the others were really great games! Now a days most RPGs are focused on being a sandbox and neglect story telling.
The Firemen is probably the only game on this list that is actually underrated. Everything else is pretty well known and loved. Might as well have put Earthbound on here.
if only Wild Guns utilized the snes mouse. smh so many games could've been so much better with the mouse. its a real shame to see it wasted. oh, but it works with jurassic park though lul.
Before I even started watching I was saying to myself that Ogre Battle needed to be on here. Sure enough it is. Metal Marines is also one that not many people talk about.
lol this video is “look how great these already well-known Quintet games are plus a few more.” But god I loved me some Quintet back in the day. When I finally got to play Terranigma I was so happy.
I would have added two different games that most of my friends didn’t know about is. 1) The 7th Sega. 2) Robotrek. And a bonus game. Rock and roll racing.
So... I think you made a nice video of ten games that are fun to play. These are not hidden gems for the most part. I would say Ogre battle is the closest to being a hidden gem. Terrinigma and Fire Men kind of lesser known in the U.S. considering they weren't released here. Illusion of Gaia had a huge advertising campaign when it came out. Some of these other games did as well. I grew up with Act raiser and Soul Blazer. I've always known about Wild Guns and U.N. Squadron. The latter was in arcades. I'm surprised Earthbound wasn't number one here.
False advertising! Promises underrated games, shows list full of games on practically every European SNES owner's rec list. I mean, yeah, these are great games, but Terranigma, Wild Guns, Illusion of Gaia and Actraiser are considered essential must plays that you learn about within fiteen minutes of asking anyone for games to play. Maybe change the video title and you're good?
@@MarelWhite Then you are not a gamer that plays more then Mario games or are stuck in that one motorboat level of Turtles in Time.. Terranigma have one of the best unforgettable soundtracks.
Prime Blue should everyone know ❤
I think Romance of The Three Kingdoms IV is very underrated. But for me this game is like a comfort place I always returns to once in a while.
Genghis Khan on the NES for me 🙂

E.V.O was one of my favorite games growing up. I've always wanted a new version of it
I've played Illusion of Gaia and Secret of Evermore.

Un Squadron on the SNES is iconic!!!!
I own three of these (Actraiser, UN Squadron and Ogre Battle). I agree on all three counts that these games were so often overlooked and really deserved more. I was happy when Actraiser Renaissance came out on the Switch, to give it a second go around.
I own a copy of ActRaiser, and I rented Illusion of Gaia and E.V.O. once. If only Nintendo wasn't cracking down on ROM download sites again... *sigh*
I had so much fun with Actraiser! I appreciated everything it had. And so when Actraiser 2 came out, without the city-building, I didn't care to buy it.
Weren't a few of these on Nick Arcade?
Love the list and enjoy all of them. Actraiser is a top 10 game on SNES console period, let alone underrated list.
Thank you for this video. I own a few of them and knew about all of them and agree. I am aware that not everyone knows about these fantastic games. Terranigma, one of the best games ever imo, never released in US so lots of people never got the chance experiencing it. Great video!

Nice video! The SNES definitely is a powerhouse of good games... It's a pity I don't have any of these in my little collection...
It's been years since I thought about U.N. Squadron. Used to be a frequent rental as a kid and I could never find a copy to buy. I'm surprised that never went on to become a franchise IP.

I had illusion of Gaia as a kid. Such a great game

It’s a good list but I have played most of these. Illusion of Gaia is my favorite on the list. What a game!
I've played them all except Wild Guns (I played that coin-op at my local burger joint as kid) and Firemen. All the others were really great games! Now a days most RPGs are focused on being a sandbox and neglect story telling.
I need to try some of these, SNES still has so many surprises.
The Firemen is probably the only game on this list that is actually underrated. Everything else is pretty well known and loved. Might as well have put Earthbound on here.
I know you dont want people to just scroll and then click off, but you could at least keep the game names up for a little bit longer
if only Wild Guns utilized the snes mouse. smh
so many games could've been so much better with the mouse. its a real shame to see it wasted. oh, but it works with jurassic park though lul.
Act Raiser was not underrated. Everyone I knew loved that game. Evo was cool, but impossible toward the end.
Before I even started watching I was saying to myself that Ogre Battle needed to be on here. Sure enough it is. Metal Marines is also one that not many people talk about.
I have metal marines cib. It’s an amazing real time strategy for such an early snes game. Level 18 is by far the hardest
Great list, I was a big fan of Search for Eden and The Firemen.
hell yeah, un squadron. i love that game.
weird list. normally the great games comes last.
you put terranigma first ? this came is so good that the most story games today cant compete.

The 7th saga is not underrated because it's the most impossible game ever.
I have beaten it with all 7 characters.
@@shawnathin7450 You are very impressive then.
Lux was the hardest to beat it with him at level 80.
Paul Rudd playing SNES in the beginning. 😂
I think Illusion of Gaia was a pretty big deal
Feels weird to say Square without Enix, huh??
No, I still call the company Square to this day.
Was there a title change on this video? I see multiple people saying these games aren't unknown but the title says "underrated." Hmm

Was that a young Paul Rudd in that intro?
It was! :D
Hm. Hidden gems?

got the entire quintet trilogy here ha
Was that Paul Rudd?
It sure was :)
Is that Paul Rudd??? AKA AntMan???
Yep lol
Were you not able to find terranigma music? Lol
The song that’s playing is from Terrenigma
The firefighter one I haven't ever played. Actraiser is an awesome game. I have Evermore CIB!

Just because it's on your recommended list doesn't mean that everyone has heard of it
Sos
Only 1 game in this video is "underrated" or generally unknown to anyone with even a passing interest in SNES
I never heard of any of them and I have more than a passing interest in SNES :^)

You really think Actraiser is underrated? Are you sure? Seriously?
Was scratching my head with this one too, it was one of the most highly rated and praised launch titles for the SNES.
