I think this was one of the best videos I’ve seen you do and I think I’ve watched them all. Thank you for creating them. That one was packed full of information 👌🏻👍🏻🤘🏻👊🏻
Gz Karl I was holding my breath when you started to bead roll that hood. Really glad you didn't roll it 10 times. I was nervous for you, couldn't take my eye of the line. A great video nice and long with absolutely great content. Very methodical and your concentration is amazing. Thank you for sharing your time, video and craftmanship.
Karl, I found a solid rubber caster wheel at harbor freight which was 6" and it really works better than the rubber band. Yes it takes a few minutes to change the wheel over but, it takes the frustration out of the rubber band always going off to a side and having to constantly having to realign it ! Looks great keep up the great videos !
yes i agree we don't have a Harbor Freight but have one called A MANS TOY SHOP same thing but from what i have Hurd say you can get way more from yours than the one we have 6 inch by 2 1/2 inch wide great for rolling the bends in the tin
Yes I actually have one 8 inch wheel that a friend of mine who works at a rubber place took and stripped the urethane off and then vulcanized new rubber to the wheel. I swear it’s gonna be the most amazing wheel I’ve ever used I just have not made the bearing for it yet
The amount of detail to the inner structure is amazing. Had you ever thought of hot glue gun to position temp rods. With tape it could slide glue sticks would hold until your ready and peel off fairly easy.

Great informative work once again!🙂 You’ve given me the Sunday morning motivation needed to brave working in my garage it’s 6 degrees here in New Zealand… middle of winter I’m fitting an old louvred hood to my 47 ford coupe, lots of structural repairs as it hasn’t been on a car in decades but lots of fun and a good excuse to buy some more tools.
Smart of you karl to put a fence on that bead roller that ensure a dead on bead all the time. You even had me nervous as you were rolling in that bead. LOOK's great...you nailed it Karl. Hood looks smart..nice job!!!
I use a urethane wheel on top when I’m rolling a radius. It’s an 8 inch caster (with a cast iron center) and I was able to purchase a bearing with a metric OD and an SAE ID which fit my particular wheel perfectly. It was inexpensive to put together and an absolute joy to use!
Yeah I have one that a friend made for me actually vulcanized rubber onto a cast wheel but I need to make the bearings for it lol I think it’s definitely worth having a Wheels that doesn’t need a band
I laughed at the laugh and self cheering at the end ! I've done the same in the release of nervous tension and satisfaction at the final fit of a big step in a project. It just shows that the kid is still alive and well in us. The coupe is looking great!

I love the evolution saws. I have their hand circular saw and love how easy it cuts metal and especially how little of a mess it makes! I am planning on purchasing their bench chop saw as soon as I get my new shop finished. My old abrasive chop saws would sling crap everywhere in the shop. There would be abrasive grit and metal dust on the other side of my old shop. This will help sooo much with clean up and it cuts so much faster. And the metal doesn't get as hot as it did with the old abrasive chop saw which was basically grinding the metal. This comment is a year past when you actually got the saw amd I bet you're loving it!

As always, concise and on point. I've never been a fan of hoods, but if you're gonna do one, do it right! Looks great and the explaining the process of the radiator/shell inconsistencies was perfect. Wow! This video was a master class in fabrication, tool making, and the thought process involved in building a hot rod! Outstanding! Thank you Karl. Keep moving forward!
Hey Karl, That hood looks GREAT!! A testament to attention to detail, patience and forethought. If you like how well the cold saw does straight cuts, try it on angles and miters. That's where it really shines. It doesn't deflect like an abrasive chop saw so you can get very precise cuts.
Great video. Many good ideas that I got from your job on this hotrod. I liked the tests on your brand new Evolution Saw. A great gift. You deserve. Thanks for good tips. Greetings from a Brazilian fan.
Yet another awesome video. I love my Evolution saw, so much of an upgrade from a abrasive chop saw and still compact for guys like me with limited space that don’t really have room for a band saw.
Great job as usual Karl ! The Evoloution Saw is one of my most used tools in the shop and worth its weight in gold ! I'm sure you will enjoy this tool for many years to come. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge Karl !
I had the same problem with my English wheel rubber tire not tracking correctly. I found that my top wheel was a very little kicked to one side pulling the tire off. If you can get a indicator on both wheels and find out how to get them aligned better your rubber tire will stay on. I went to Lazzys metal shaping class and he has some shims for his Lower dies and you can kick them up at a angle and it helps get into tight places like in motorcycle finders. If you find your lower die is misaligned you might be able to shim one of your lower wheels easy. Just a tip that helped me. Good job on the hood.
Thanks for sharing man! Yeah having adjustable wheels would be pretty great. I have a rubber vulcanized upper wheel that I would like to machine a bearing for so that I can swap them in and out

As always, concise and on point. I've never been a fan of hoods, but if you're gonna do one, do it right! Looks great and the explaining the process of the radiator/shell inconsistencies was perfect. Im sure more than a few people out there are less worried after watching this. Can't wait to see more on this roadster in the future!
Thanks man glad you enjoyed this one! It was fun to make a hood from scratch and a little nerve-wracking with the bed lol
You are so talented at metal work.It shows you love doing it. Love watching your shows.
Glad you love the videos man I definitely love the work!
Wow! This video was a master class in fabrication, tool making, and the thought process involved in building a hot rod! Outstanding! Thank you Karl. Keep moving forward!
You’re so welcome thanks for watching!
Hey Karl,
That hood looks GREAT!!
A testament to attention to detail, patience and forethought.
If you like how well the cold saw does straight cuts, try it on angles and miters. That's where it really shines. It doesn't deflect like an abrasive chop saw so you can get very precise cuts.
That’s great to hear and basically why I hate chop saws. I’m pretty impressed with the stool
this was awesome!
outstanding talent, nothing more to say.
Thanks Terry cheers!
Great video. Many good ideas that I got from your job on this hotrod. I liked the tests on your brand new Evolution Saw. A great gift. You deserve. Thanks for good tips. Greetings from a Brazilian fan.
Thanks so much man I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I’m pretty stoked on that saw actually it’s kind of crazy how well it cuts!
Thank you for this one definitely showed great points and tricks without being boring.
Thank you for the time you spend showing us your talented work 😙
Hood turned out nice. Thanks for the tip on the evolution saw, just ordered mine 10min ago.
Hey Carl, you really nailed that Hood. Well done.
Karl, just another wonderful project with the perfect amount of detail for us hot rod loving cats.
Yet another awesome video. I love my Evolution saw, so much of an upgrade from a abrasive chop saw and still compact for guys like me with limited space that don’t really have room for a band saw.
Great job on this, you should be proud! Seemed like a lot that could have gone wrong but you thought things through really well.
Thanks Trevor always a bit nervous on that last bead 😂
That’s seriously impressive and very, very watchable Karl. Thank you.
You’re very welcome thanks for watching!
My mind is blown ! Dude you have so much talent, thanks again for sharing it with us.
Right on Mike thanks a lot buddy!
Great job as usual Karl ! The Evoloution Saw is one of my most used tools in the shop and worth its weight in gold ! I'm sure you will enjoy this tool for many years to come. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge Karl !
I’m starting to notice how badly I needed one lol there are so many things are used for instead of a ZIP Cut
I have a rubber vulcanized upper wheel that I would like to machine a bearing for so that I can swap them in and out
Karl you always amaze me on your fabricating skills. The addition of that guide that you thought of ,again amazed me..
The hood turned out great, good going ,the owner will also love it...
You are an awesome fabricator.....
Keep on keep n on...
