    Zeth, I encourage that you not hit on a wrench with the heel of your hand. I have had two friends do severe nerve damage to their hands by doing this. One of them got multiple operations and still ended up with a hand that would not work right and got retired out on worker's comp. because of that damage. The other ended up missing a lot of work because of the injury. You do not need that to happen to you. It can happen so keep a dead blow hammer handy and use it instead of the heel of your hand. Great video!!

      I was thinking the same thing. Plus i watch this awesome chinese genius girl mechanic and because she has low power she rips the most stubborn bolts out as you suggest. Turning her wrenches into impact wrenches.

    Zeth another exceptional video as always. About time you pass that responsibility onto the other two professionals mechanics. They definitely had a spot on trainer, they're in good hands. Thanks for sharing. Definitely look you up at the next one. You all stay safe!!

    It’s truly amazing at the engineering to make those tractors and also the knowledge you have to take it all apart.

      I agree. Isn't a phenomal bit of gear. The engineers are spot on but i imagine with so much going on they only upgrade a little each year. John deer would have soo much info in their file system to draw from. Would be a fun place to be a designer.
      Hats off to these lads but. Just thinking about putting all that back together is stressful.

    You would think as much as those tractors cost and as highly engineered as they are they would never break. But anything man made or mechanical can and does break and when they do there are folks like Zeth that can fix them. Man that is a lot of work and to think you are just getting started...

Do you have to take so much stuff off and get to the absolute bottom of something by the time you replace it you’re at such an expensive it’s ridiculous.

    Something got me wondering though, wont the combines get water inside their grain bins/ hoppers (where the grain goes) when it rains if theyre open tops?

    Seems odd that a dealership of the size and prestige of Sloan doesn't have a bigger workshop with a decent overhead gantry crane. Lifting transmissions out with fork trucks is a bit of a lash up. Good content again but I question the reliability of JD IVT's - seen too many of your videos hauling them apart.

    I have a question, Why don't engine manufacturers engineer filter systems for engine coolant? Some downside would be more potential areas for leaks. Would be a pressure drop across a filter, say filter only 10 - 15% of coolant flow. I think it would be a good indicator of the condition of the engine. I am sure there are more drawbacks. I would really like to hear some feedback from anyone. Thank you

    • @LifeRunner4000
      @LifeRunner4000 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@sawboneiomc8809I wouldn't say that, a tractor these days is wildly different to a tractor 10-15 years ago. Engines haven't necessarily grown so much in size and displacement, but produce much more power and torque. Which consequently can break a lot of things you put behind it. Gearboxes have pretty tight tolerances, while being absolutely filled to the brim with various tech for various reasons, efficiency, strength, fuel economy, etc. This creates room for errors and things to go wrong.

    • @WilliamPayneNZ
      @WilliamPayneNZ ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sawboneiomc8809 many peoples idea of crap stems from the fact that they can’t fix it with a screwdriver and a hammer.

    I wonder what the final repair bill will be. So far, 24 hours of labor times $200 per hour is a chunk of change. Then again, what is a tractor worth without a transmission? Farming is not for the faint of heart! Zeth knows what he is doing. The others are just learning. Parts and labor will add up quickly.

    • @tmlf1239
      @tmlf1239 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      An expensive job for sure. He mentioned it's a PIP job, which means "product improvement program" which is very similar to an auto recall. So hopefully mother Deere is footing the bill for this one. But if the farmer was, it could easily be $20-30k. We had the hydro pump replaced on our 7920 IVT years ago and it was at least $12k back then.
