Zeth, Sloan Implement is blessed to have you. Not only are you a Master Tech but you are also a very good instructor, Josh is also a good student and appears to absorb whatever you throw at him. You both work well together. Thanks to Sloan Implement for allowing you to share your knowledge with us.
as a Farmer, would like to say thanks for what you do. been binge watching your content, it's well done, well explained. glad to see what goes on behind the doors in a shop. and its quality.
My God man ! You are the absolute best man that I have ever seen. Intelligent beyond belief. I don’t know what you are paid but I am absolutely convinced that they need to double it. Thank You for being You.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. First of all. Josh did great for his first time into one of these. Josh was most fortunate that he had ZK for a teacher. ZK you have these transmissions down my friend. You are a excellent technician and teacher. Sloan,s is most fortunate to have you. Good job Josh. You two put that unit back together with ease. I would have not known which went to which-ha!!!! You both made it look easy. Lots of torquing to do. Lots of seals and snap rings. ALL important steps. Miss one and you have trouble. Really enjoyed seeing this put back together. Amazing!!!!! Probably one of the best videos I have watched on your channel. Was most interesting. Wow. Thanks again to both of you for taking us along. Thanks for everything. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
What a complicated piece of engineering!I marvel at your remembering where everything goes ! Great video . Appreciate knowing the job was covered by warranty. great video (all Three).
Zack, You ARE a magician!! Love your videos. They should be paying you a LOT more than they are. You are "one in a million"! I hope Sloan Implement realizes that! Keep the videos coming. Love watching just how complex these new tractors are. Nothing like the old "A" John Deeres!
Well zeth and Josh that was fun to watch .A lot of parts to put back together. And some took a bit of time to line up .. Not a job to be rushed . Nice work both of you .👍👍👍👍 Now the fun bit getting it back in the tractor 😯😯
Assignment of JD IVT rebuild bkums an honor but handful one efficiency doesn't kum free but after dis vry Meticulous ivt rebuild job by vry Great professionals at ZK Mastertechs
Best series you have done imo, your knowledge is just beyond words, I don’t even like the workings and maintenance of a tractor, muck prefer operating them, but I’m glued to this, it makes such a difference when you explain each step as you go, just keep putting the content out and I’m sure we will all keep watching with great interest. ❤️
Once again a great video Zeth and the story continues on. This series has been outstanding and it was so rewarding to see you working with Josh and spreading your knowledge. Thanks from Scotland
Do you sometimes wonder what the engineers were thinking? That was a very interesting project. Thank you for sharing it and all your knowledge. Please stay safe, and God bless.
Great videos man. I can watch these for hours. I find them strangely relaxing for some reason. Also nice to see the new guys learning the trade, its so important to pass on the knowledge.
The temps have been miserable as Hell here in North Mississippi as well! Enjoy your videos when I have time to watch. I work on a lot of interesting things where I work, but I'm glad I didn't have to rebuild that transmission! Be safe brother! Thomas, Mississippi!!!
Really is a good series. One thing you said towards the end it made a lot of sense if you know what you’re doing, that’s true on anything you have to be smarter than what you’re working on anybody could take that thing apart putting it back together but there’s probably a very large tech manual that goes step-by-step for you to do that
Bonjour, superbes vidéos de mécanique de démontage et de remontage de cette boite de vitesse ,impressionnant et quelles compétences, bravo à vous deux 👍👌👏
I just installed a 25000 btu window air conditioner in my 40x72 shop, it is keeping up fine this week. (Eastern Iowa, insulated shop.) I highly recommend.
Been watching you for a while now and this is awesome content you got going! I'm from south Mississippi working for a john deere dealer as well and we don't too much see bigger stuff like this too often.
Does JD do all the manufacturing of these intricate gears and speciality High tech parts?? The “inside” of the transmission is truly an engineering marvel....
Great job 👍I commented before on one off our videos you guys use long extensions to reach the nuts/bolts that you need to torque I’m a GM(Chevrolet) technician for 20 years on our tests/certifications they show us that using long extensions you lose the specific set torque because the extension is too long there is a mathematic equation … to rectify how long the extension you have so you increase your torque so you don’t lose the torque specifications is John Deer torque specs account for that. I think you should account for that maybe the torque wrench instructions/manual has it I have to look into that love the channel and the work you guys perform
An extension doesn't affect the torque setting. Using something like a crow's foot that puts the fastener off the axis of the wrench's head will do that, and has to be accounted for.
I was there Tuesday buying that little head carrier. I'm guessing it was owned by the same guy who's 625 I bought a few years ago off Craig. Would have liked to say hi but you were probably at lunch, 12:30- quarter to 1ish and shop was dark. Maybe another time.
Yeah well, I didn't want to be a bother. You've got enough on your plate. If it works out one of these days I'd enjoy it. My main dealer is Ashmore but I buy some stuff up at Atwood when it's what I want or a better deal.
We have replaced probably 98% of our hydros in the UK. I believe its because we pin our machines down with weight on heavy soils and try to maintain 12 kph that's where the pressures peak and clutches change. Most of our customers have changed to e23.
Key info here. Although these thing are "infinitely variable" they change gears internally still requiring mechanical sympathy from the operator. I'm old school used to allison autos and fujitech PS in the older Steigers and 9xx0 series Case IH. Yes, not infinitely variable but much much older, 7k hrs as mentioned is nothing.
yeah - that "knowing" is pretty key // appears to be enormous opporunity for error, problems and leaks / blessed to have Josh for a helper // not your department but would like to know the PIP and Warranty hours allowed by Deere versus what you and Josh actually spent
Ascot great series thanks Zeke. What would make a great video for us plebs would be an in depth explanation on what the series numbers represent and how you can identify a tractor (size, horsepower, etc) from these markings or any other identification marks. For example, what does 8370R mean and can you work out the size and power. Cheers.
I would imagine somewhere around 2000lbs. There are literally caution messages in service advisor that tells you to be careful when lifting these things and gives you the approx. Weight 😂
Nice of you showing how to work on machines. Do you have any experience of the older ZF IVT eccom? I have one taken apart, and a clutch is burnt up, but no one really know anyting about them
I'm curious as to how they (John Deere) determine the necessary torque specs for the bolts. Is it based on the type of steel and stretch of the bolts, or something else?
Was wondering about the significance of 92 lb-ft.. it equals 125 n-m so that was probably the spec from the factory and they converted to sae for the techs. Just a guess anyway
Hi Zeth , what’s your opinion of the electric IVt in the 8R 410, over the hydro IVT’s in the smaller models? Great videos by the way? I ask because we are ordering a 8R 370. Or an 8R 410.
I haven’t worked on one yet. I’ve done all the online training on them and I like them better than an ivt. They are built more like a powershift with electric generators/motors on the back to provide the feel of an ivt. No hydro module to go bad inside. It’s just gears and shafts. I would definitely go the EVT route.
Zeth, Sloan Implement is blessed to have you. Not only are you a Master Tech but you are also a very good instructor, Josh is also a good student and appears to absorb whatever you throw at him. You both work well together. Thanks to Sloan Implement for allowing you to share your knowledge with us.
Thank you very much!
It's like watching people reassemble mechanical watches, except everything is bigger. Love it.
do the best job in the world, john deere forever.

Amazing content, Zeth. Many thanks to you, Josh and your colleagues at Sloan for bringing it to us.
Good work 👍
You are great teacher, even I, being from Finland, could understand your instructions even english is not my native language
Whatever the cost for the extended warranty I believe this farmer is glad he bought it
Thanks, Zeth and Josh. Learned quite a bit about the IVT from this video.
What a complicated piece of engineering!I marvel at your remembering where everything goes ! Great video . Appreciate knowing the job was covered by warranty. great video (all Three).
That would be called over-engineering.
Thanks for watching!

Good vid by experts but I was really needing to know how an IVT works not just a lot of gears, bearing fitting . Well done guys
Good stuff! Looking forward to seeing it go back in the tractor.
This is the kinda repair that a head cam would be good for..A step by step record..

Oh my goodness! Ever seen a Fendt CVT? Way, way, simpler.
I was looking forward to this episode , which I think is the best part of the job . BTW , how much does the assembled transmission weigh ?
I would imagine somewhere around 2000lbs. There are literally caution messages in service advisor that tells you to be careful when lifting these things and gives you the approx. Weight 😂
3-4k lbs
Great Vid🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜
Thanks 👍
Ask me why watch these videos. In case I need to tear down a John Deere transmission in the next life…that’s why!
Hola, desde argentina, son unos genios
So what does the hyrdo do exactly? Im so clueless but love watching
It provides a variable input to the planetary gearing thereby providing infinitely variable speeds. The other input is driven by the engine.
Nice of you showing how to work on machines. Do you have any experience of the older ZF IVT eccom? I have one taken apart, and a clutch is burnt up, but no one really know anyting about them
I am running a 7920 it has 19460 hr with a IVT
I'm curious as to how they (John Deere) determine the necessary torque specs for the bolts. Is it based on the type of steel and stretch of the bolts, or something else?
Oh come on down South Texas and get the hell setting 😝
48:29, no nut on that shaft to hold the inner race of the bearing on the shaft?
how many hours dId it really take?i now it more then the video length.very cool to see it go together.
So... torque everything to 92 ft lbs... lol
I take it from the video at least that, none of the gears need to be "timed"? Great video, cheers :)
You are correct
Zeth,I heard that the ivy won't hold a load going down a hill ,is that true, love you an josh workin together, take care keep that green iron runnin.
I haven't heard that. We don't have any hills to worry about around here lol.
@@ZKMasterTech thank you for responding, I really love your content, please keep it up ,thank you.
What’s the part number for a new Josh? I’ve got to get one!

Was wondering about the significance of 92 lb-ft.. it equals 125 n-m so that was probably the spec from the factory and they converted to sae for the techs. Just a guess anyway
how long to put back together?
Was the broken sealing ring the cause of the warped clutch plates?
Hi Zeth , what’s your opinion of the electric IVt in the 8R 410, over the hydro IVT’s in the smaller models?
Great videos by the way?
I ask because we are ordering a 8R 370. Or an 8R 410.

8R 410 will have an E23 powershift which is a really good transmission.
@@ZKMasterTech Around this part of Alberta, she is all 9R’s and 9 RX’s. Not much knowledge of an 8R.
So.... You need several hammers to work on Dear John????
When you are tourqing a bolt you can only apply force at the handle never on the bar
The torque wrench doesn't care where you hold it. It's going to break at the set torque regardless.
Just curious...when assembling this IVT why didn't you lube the bearings?
I didn't know Tom Bodett was a mechanic?
IVT’s in my area after 8 k hours they crap the bed 😂
Warum wird das trocken montiert ohne die Lager vorzuölen?
Bevor die Wellen die erste Umdrehung gemacht haben kommt überall genug Öl dran, das wird ja mit Drucköl geschmiert.
@@schorse1000 da sagt Fendt was anderes.
I dont think Josh's persuasion is as soft as yours.. I kinda cringed everytime he grabbed a hammer.. good video bud..
Oh he did just fine.
But everything's a hammer 😂
It'd be nice if you told what each component did
In normal use and maintenance, what is the mean time between failure for this gigantic part?
What exactly does the hydro do in this type of transmission?
Does your shop require you to read the manual steps in sequence while you're doing final assembly of such an expensive component?
What was the actual PIP? How many times have you had to pull these IVT's?
Do you use any clicker torque wrench’s.
Sometimes
👍👍👍
