I assume that used to be part of the old highway from Phoenix to California before the interstate. Quartzsite ought to make it a nostalgic roadway like parts of old Route 66.
I am so glad that I found your channel, great information on free camping. I will be new to this next year and will need all the help I can get. I love the drone shots they are awesome, gives a little more perspective of all the land surroundings. I will be coming from Georgia on the East coast, will be glad to get out of this cold weather here, I have never been to the West coast and am excited about my soon to be journey. I got my ProMaster in August and have started building it out. Gonna take some time to get rid of all things I have acquired over the years.. I am retired and it's time for me to hit the road, get outta here and see other parts of the US. Take care, safe travels, and can't wait to see what is next.

Everyone is right that this is the location where it has been for the past several years but it going to moved for the winter of 2019. 😉👍 I believe it is going to be in the area closer to the host but definitely check in with Bob for the exact location. 😄 Love the drone footage 👍😉💓😄🚐

What a great series, Russ. I live in cold and windy Tennessee and can only dream of being in the desert sw in January...but I still love to see these videos of areas all around the Q. Another informative video, thanks. Are there any relatively "quiet" areas in Quartzsite BLM area where OHV/ATVs don't usually ride or are prohibited?
I'm really enjoying your videos. Next year I should make it to Quartzite . I'm trying to decide the best place to camp. I would like to be able to get to town on my bicycle, but I also want to be away from the the husle and busle. Where would you recomend? Scadden Wash has my vote so far..

Bob has yet to announce the new location for January, 2019. He should be saying soon.

good drone footage Man can you wrap your head around this , They all have to move every 14 days, yes not all at once just that alone would/well keep the roads over flowing. Your drone works very well...I hope its a DJ phantom 3 standard because that is what I ordered the other day. Your video is so crisp that I believe you may have gone for a higher resolution than did I.

Thats where it was last year, the camp host at the front entrance advised the blm worked out a new location closer to town back in behind the host location. We're camped here a few more days, stop by and say hi if you come in !

Hey Russ. Love your videos. We're in Lordsburg, NM at a KOA tonight. Heading to Shady Lane in Quartzsite, tomorrow and Friday. Headed to Indio, CA on Saturday. Thanks for recommending Shady Lane to my wife, Linda. Sounds like we'll be close to everything!

@@rvertv good to know. We didn't make it to the park on Thursday, but are camping here tonight (Friday night). We mentioned to them that you recommended the park and they were EXTREMELY pleased. We've found it to be a great park at a very reasonable price (50 amp at $25 is outstanding). Heading to Indian Wells, in Indio, CA for a month tomorrow. Another place you recommended in an earlier video. We are making a day trip back to Quartzsite for the RTR for a couple days in January. Staying in Desert Hot Springs, CA, Jan through Mar. Love your videos. Keep it up.

yes, that was announced at the end of past jan. RTR. location changed.

Hello Russ. I think you nailed it as far as the info needed to get to the RTR. Very good drone shots. Looks like I'll have to keep an eye out for the wash areas, with my luck I'll park in one when it rains. I'm still in SC and the temp got into the mid 30s. can't work on the RV much in the cold I'm 68 and the cold sucks. Have fun, be safe ,keep up the great videos and bye for now.
The video is showing last year's location. The RTR is supposed to be an a new location but the exact spot has not been announced yet.

The RTR is currently working with the Yuma BLM office to secure the exact location for the RTR. Because it has not been finalized, we are still not releasing the coordinates. Keep watching, it will be posted as soon as it is signed off.

Scandan Wash is a free area with a 14 day stay limit. You have to be 25 or more miles away for your next free BLM location and then you can return after 28 days. You can go to an LTVA (Long Term Visitor Area) paid area anytime.
The hosts are generally available to register and issue a window permit during normal daylight hours. If not, set up and come back later. Just pick a spot anywhere as there are no designated camp "sites". Pick a spot that has already been traveled and not tear up the limited vegetation that is there. The closer you are to town, the closer other folks will be next to you. You will need to get away from the west end near the road if you want more private space.
It is a beautiful area and it is very popular during the show, especially the west end, because it is the closest free area to the show.

I have been curious, do you see what the drone sees, or do you just have to keep track with your eyes on where your drone is? I have seen people fly these over trees where I would think you would lose sight of them. Either way, that is some high tech stuff to me!

Sorry but I'm confused. I thought it hadn't been said yet where the RTR will be.
Bob Wells announced in a video after the 2018 RTR that there will be a new location for January, 2019 that the BLM recommended but he was not telling where because all was not settled. He then announced about a month ago that the BLM had a change in plans and were looking at a different location. Bob has not announced that location yet either but it should be soon. As it stands right now, it will not be at the 2018 and prior end of Scandan Wash location. Only the Shadow Knows where it is going to be!

Can you move from one 14 day area to another (land to land) or do you have to stay out of the BLM system for X days?

This video is showing the January, 2018 location of the RTR. Bob Wells said earlier this year in one of his videos that the January, 2019 RTR will be held at a different location. The new location has not been announced yet because all the details have not been finalized.

I’m sure you meant no harm, but this information is not correct and it would be a very good thing if you published a retraction. I DO NOT HAVE A FIRM ANSWER FROM THE BLM ON THE LOCATION. But, I’m nearly certain it will not be the old location. I AM THE ONLY ON WHO CAN TELL YOU WHERE IT WILL BE!
hi bob..i didnt mean to put out a incorrect location.. i wasn't aware of change..I am doing a whole series on 8 BLM properites....i changed the description and the thumbnail already and will post a video about the error...this video was suppose to be more about Scaddan wash...Free camping is the theme of the series. I have also answered comments about change of location. once you announce you new location i will make a video of the area thanks ..russ
