    They should elect you Mayor of Quartzsite or at least the head of the tourism bureau. I’ve gotten more local information about camping areas, restaurants and shopping from you than anyone else. Kudos

    its 15.00 for a whole year not two weeks. just looked it up. 15.00 for individual permit. 20.00 for a family permit. but it does limit recreational camping to two weeks per year. but if you have a permit you can hike or atv ride where permitted to. for the rest of the year.

    You do such a good job with your videos showing Quartszite. You are just awesome. I am seriously thinking about moving there permanently. The warmer weather is just what I need and from what I see people are friendly, kind to others, etc and you literally have or can get reasonably whatever you need. I just discovered your channel and I am most impressed. Thank you for all the work and effort you put into your videos.

      I guess in the case of Quartzsite you have the convenience of being in town with cell & Tv service etc. I stay on BLM land during "Big Rv Tent Show" in January, but sometimes it's packed and your very close to each other, not to mention lots of camp traffic. Will consider ATL if Blm gets over crowded at peak Show times.

    Thank you once again. I did not know about this. I have plans on getting the permit mainly for the state land southwest of Wickenburg. You might want to video the area soon as there are plans on closing the access to the Vulture Peak Trailhead due to plans in the works to change the area to a fee based recreational area much like Lake Pleasant. The current day use only is being used for overnight camping. The landscape will change dramatically once this start to unfold. I am already starting to look for other State land where camping is allowed.

    I do not have a drone, but i found actual pictures on TH-cam. If you like to, the beginning of second 27 you may see how it looks like here. There are two parking lots, one on each side of the obelisque shown in the film. And there are 12 places free for mobile homes, you can stay there as long as you like - if you just park and do not camp. I.e. no chairs and table outside and of course no grill. And the beach is wonderful as well, and we have the Sierra Nevada mountains just right behind us - and man, they look great, it's a little just like around Quartzsite!

    As of a couple of years ago, the AZ State Land Trust had two full time law enforcement officers that patrol all of the state trust land. One big concern is dumping of trash but they also enforce the permit requirements. The one I spoke with was well aware of the parcels around Quartzsite and Lake Havasu and he said they do check campers for permits and will issue citations for no permit. He said most do have the permit. I believe the permit is also needed for just day recreation use.
    The rules allow only 14 days of camping per year on the Trust lands. That has to be a tough one to enforce if the camper is not checked when first camping.
    "11. Recreational camping is limited to no more than 14 days per year."
    Interestingly, the online map shows all of the land west of Kofa Ave as BLM land, both to the north and south.

    Thanks again Russ for a great video. The other day on one of your videos you were way out maybe 14-15 miles on the other side of some mountains. And you mentioned that in December and January that the cell service in Quartzsite would be all plugged up and nearly useless. But you said over where you were at on the other side of those mountains, there were some other cell towers and they work great over there. I think you were showing some BLM camping maybe out toward the Colorado River. Do you remember where that is at?

      Holly M. I was just camped at that very place behind the alliance church. I was there for about a month. Most of the people coming in we’re planning on staying the entire season. There are no enforcement officers and nobody even came out to check our passes.

    • @bruceh3786
      @bruceh3786 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Butterfly Express ..... As of a couple of years ago, the State Land Trust had two full time enforcement officers patrolling all the trust lands. They deal with illegal trash dumping, grazing issues, off roader damage, and many other issues besides checking for camp permits. If they are in the area for whatever reason and they see a camper, they will check for a permit. There is trust land over the whole state so it is not surprising no one checked you. It is a matter of timing. They are aware of the winter camping on state land around Quartzsite and Lake Havasu so the odds are good they will get out there sometime during the season. It is smart to have a permit to meet that requirement. Enforcing the day limits would be difficult for them not knowing when the camper arrived. I would not stay in the same spot over 14 days.

    Crazy all the restrictions for camping on what amounts to be the worlds biggest gravel parking lot. Publicly owned no less. Oh, forgot the BLM is a Federal agency that show's disdain for the serf's that they shake down.

  • @geebonzo
    @geebonzo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So I guess you could stay at one of the close in free BLM areas for two weeks and then go to the ATL areas for 14 days, and then go back to another BLM free area near QS?
    There is an ATL area just south of St. George, Utah. You cross the border on River Rd and you are in ATL lands. There used to be a lot of signs, but now there are not very many. I don't know what the enforcement is.

    • @bruceh3786
      @bruceh3786 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There has to be a 28 day period before returning to a BLM spot within 25 miles. So you can leave the BLM spot to a close by State Land spot for 14 days, but then the next BLM spot must be at least 25 miles away, such as Shea Rd near Parker. Then you can return to the original BLM spot.
