Antique SIGMUND sprayer - Restoration

- I welcome you to today's video, where we renovated an old sprayer from SIGMUND Pumpy, which was manufactured at the beginning of the 20th century.
Sigmund Pumpy was founded in the 19th century by the Sigmund family.
It was originally a side job of Ludvík Sigmund, who worked for the wellman Tomáš Vychodil.
After his death, Ludvík became the sole owner and founded a company for the production of pumps in Lutín, where he began the production of wooden stand pumps and water pipes.
In 1894, sons Jan and František took over the company and started the production of metal pump parts.
Around 1935, production began to focus on filtration and breathing filters for gas masks.
The Sigmund Pumps company expanded to England where, with branches in London and Newcastle, they began to focus on the production of motorized fire hydrants for the Brické Home Office and the London Fire Brigade.
In 1922, the trademark "SIGMA" and Neptune's trident was registered, which is still used today.

Another very entertaining renovation Radek & Veronica, and it was lovely to see Mona joining in too, we haven't seen her in ages. I couldn't tell from your video whether the seal to the piston was rubber or leather, when Veronica told us the pump was from the early 1900s I knew it was too early for a rubber seal as leather would be more easily available. I've never seen wet moulding of leather before. The pump was in a very corroded state when you started work and I was surprised that it worked so well at the end of the video! The farmland where Veronica demonstrated the pump looked beautiful, well done you three, and greetings to Natálie and Domenik too. Stay healthy. Nick & Hilary
Hi Nick and Hillary, thanks so much for watching. I pressed the seal from leather. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, as I've never worked with leather, but it turned out surprisingly well. I was amazed at how well the leather held its shape. I'll probably start dabbling in your trade Nick. Lol

Yes it is true. I remember how they laughed at me in the pump shop when I went to buy spare parts, that such things have been discontinued for a long time. So I had to improvise :)
@@VeradonaRestoration i agree totally! Improvisation is the mark of great restoration! I remember a few years ago i tried to help a friend restoring A Russian Victoryan style Furnace , it was a very hard and expensive work since many of its glazed tiles were missing or brocken, we had to cancel the work because making identical tyles from scratch was too expensive))
@@adhamhussein5303 Yes I agree, but it's not impossible. I used to make bonsai bowls for a living. I made both models and molds. It was a beautiful job when the kiln was opened and we waited anxiously to see how it turned out :) However, cheap bowls started being imported from China and we couldn't compete with that, so I quit. But a stove would be a challenge 👍😉
@@VeradonaRestoration yes! nothing is impossible! that stove is still in storage , unfinished , waiting for the right time to be restored to its original beauty! it can be done! especially with all the new materials and technology appearing every day ! ))

Wow the neighboring farm when I was little had one very similar, they would spray the small orchard they had, and seen it also used on the fruit bushes. I could use one of those here! there is so many weeds growing around the river and walkways! Beautifully done! Loved how this turned out!
