i believe you are the only one who realizes how much more valuable a piece is if you keep as much of the original parts as you can. Kerosene (or oil) lamps are STILL available in the US. I have a few for emergencies. Some who prefer to live simply, without modern conveniences, use these lamps on a daily basis. Beautiful restoration! I wonder how many are digging these out of attics and basements, or buying them from antiques stores!
I am amazed that you find a beautiful item to restorate every time again Radek. But in your hands it always turns out even better as it was. Thank you for sharing, my friend, 👍👍👍
Very nice. I *love* how you remove all the old casting flash that was left behind after the manufacturing process. Also, your gold highlights are just superb.
Thank you both once again for an artistically beautiful yet functional lamp. This is particularly close to my heart. I lived as a child with such lamps & candles being our only source of lighting. This was in rural England in the early 1950s. Cooking & baking being done on a huge wood fuelled "Range". Water was drawn from a well estimated at 160 Feet (49 meters) deep, by means of a bucket & windlass. Happy Days ! Again, thank you both.

Beautiful kerosene lamp! I remember when I was growing up, my parents always had kerosene lamps in case the power went out. They were a bit more "primitive" than this one, there was no lampshade. The tank was on the bottom, then the wickholder and finally the glass cover.
The dry-brush-gold was absolutely what that base needed. My grandmother had a similar lamp, but it had two clear glass inner parts, and I remember the inner one getting quite black with soot, but it worked when the power went out.
