Hey nice review, I haven’t read Conan either and wouldn’t mind picking this up. FYI the grittier art you see at the 4:19 mark is Greg Ruth. He usually lightly pencils in and then uses Japanese ink brushes. He colours in photoshop.

Sucks that Marvel lost the license. On the brightside, did you hear Omar's announcement about the Rom and Micronauts omnibuses coming out in 2024!!!!???? I'm excited :D
It is a shame they lost the licence but I'm hopeful that the Titan reprints will be just as good overall. And definitely very cool news about those two books!
This was my first omnibus! Spotted it for a good price. It introduced me to the world of omnibuses. Actually it's still my only marvel omnibus. 😂 Loved that it was an origin story and hope they do a volume 2 with Truman's run.
Maybe ... you should read some european or french comics if you like this one. It's really the kind of stuff they do here. And no super hero at all for the most part :).
We call that "bandes dessinees" here (france AND belgium where Tintin comes from for ex) and it's a very dynamic and rich industry with a long history like for comics. All genres are treated even though super heroes are not that represented like I said. So I quickly checked and I could propose you the top 10 for Fantasy of a guy who seems to have good knowledge and solid tastes. Unfortunatly you might have to learn french for some books... I tried to find the translated titles for each. Thorgal might be a good start actually ... comparable to conan (viking stuff) easy to find for you it feels like and the Rosinski/Van Hamme duo is top notch, two very famous and talented guys. And the Qa cycle is one of the best while being also a good entry point for new readers. Dont need to have read the rest. Or try Siegfried... Both are the uppest in the list while being translated. 10 Elric from Blondel, Recht, Poli, Telo - Glénat (adapted from Michael Moorcock's books) 9 Wika from Olivier Ledroit and Thomas Day - Glénat 8 Slaine from Pat Mills and Simon Bisley - Zenda 7 Lament of the Lost Moors from Delaby and Dufaux - Dargaud (2nd cyle of 3 cycles but the other cycles are good too, one is by Rosinski, great great guy as I said) 6 Thorgal The Land of Qa cycle from Rosinski and Van Hamme - Le Lombard 6 bis Le Grand Pouvoir du Chninkel from Rosinski and Van Hamme - Casterman (too bad I dont find any translation for this one, look for Chninkel eventually on your side) 5 Siegfried from Alex Alice - Dargaud 4 Les 5 terres from Lereculey and Lewelyn - Delcourt (kind of games of throne with animals ... but no english translation seems like) 3 Les compagnons du crépuscule from Bourgeon - Casterman (too bad I dont find any Bourgeon title translated in english) 2 Servitude from Bourgier and David - Soleil (no english translation) 1 The Quest For The Time Bird from Loisel and Le Tendre - Dargaud (seems like there has been a translation in the past, but not sure you will manage to find it) @@TheComicBookTrove
Not soon, maybe at some point. The issue is now that Titan have the publishing rights for Conan, it remains to be seen how well they do with the omnibuses. They're supposed to be reprinting volumes 1 and 2 of the original comics and Savage Sword series but they keep pushing the release dates further and further back for those so it's not a great start
Titan Definitely need to reprint this but it would be cool if they left out book of thoth and that story about conan's helmet and continue main story further in this one so it doesn't end in a cliffhanger
