I live on the Navajo Reservation and we have encounters and similar experiences... they can paralyze your bodies, mute your speech, and run at speeds inhumanly. they can sound like women, children, friends and family... also like various animals, coyotes, dogs, elk, horses, sheep, anything... nothing is more terrifying than hearing a woman screaming in the middle of the night then hearing a dog, then something crawling onto your roof or tapping on your windows, never go... that's how they get you... and never pick up any hitchhikers... it may not be who or what you think it is...
if i saw a skinwalker, first shit myself, second build enough courage to say "Fist me daddy" then run praying it dosn't follow me. so when it lures people, it would say "Fist me daddy"

I like monsters that do this, it's very terrifying, reminds me of the Yautja from the Predator movies. Where it mimics sounds from it's victims, in order to lure it's prey.

Ever since I was a kid I've always had this weird phobia where I was afraid I'd see someone or something looking/ staring at me through my window at night so I've always kept my blinds shut at night. When I still lived with my parents my fear was somewhat irrational cuz my bedroom was upstairs but now I'm on my own and I live in a garden level apartment. I don't live near and woods or forests thankfully and plan to keep it that way. And you couldn't pay me to go camping.

I’ve seen skinwalkers two times in my life. The first was very obvious. My husband and I live in a very rural area - we’re talking people an hour away are considered neighbors - and I had gone to town alone two hours away to get groceries. On my way home I noticed an old Native American man sitting on the ground on the side of the road. There were no houses for miles. It wasn’t hunting season. And weirdly enough he had a coyote skin on his back like a shawl and he never looked at me while I passed. My gut feeling was to get away so I just kept driving. I chanced a look in my rearview mirror and the man was gone, but a coyote was now sitting in the middle of the road watching me drive away. I’ve always thought it was a skinwalker but if it was something else let me know. The second time was only a few weeks ago. We have four working dogs (cattle work) and they have a nice heated dog house and a large fenced in yard. We were woken up by all four of them in absolute rages. Usually if it’s a raccoon coming round to investigate they’ll bark, but this was different. This wasn’t alert, this was defensive and angry. So we both jump out of bed, my husband grabs the rifle from the side of the bed. Again, we’re very rural. If there is a dangerous animal outside we have to take care of ourselves and protect our pets. I was the first to find what they were watching. A coyote sitting under our yard light. Sure a coyote would upset the dogs but this was strange. It was staring at the house. For anyone who isn’t familiar with coyotes they’re very shifty. They tend to pace and are kind of twitchy animals. But this was just sitting there, watching the house calmly. I even said “what the fuck is that” and my husband came to look over my shoulder. He replied “it looks kind of like a coyote” and went to the door. But I had a bad feeling and told him not to go outside. He asked why and I said I didn’t know, but don’t go outside. As I said this, it stood up and turned down the driveway. Here’s where it gets weird. It had no tail. It’s body was too large and too long for a coyote but not a wolf either. Then it stood up on two legs right as it disappeared into the darkness.
Sounds like the same one you met in the first story is the same one in the second. Both same one each time. I'd be careful and not go outside at night at all for a while. During the daytime is fine though I think, not sure. Also, don't say "the word" if you can, either. I've heard talking about them and using that word attracts them more. Though by your stories it sounds like it might just be curious? Also, maybe look and see what advice there is about such encounters. Maybe take to some elder natives and see what they say. Like, maybe dream catchers keep them away or something? Idk. All I know is from watching stories like these is under any circumstance do NOT go outside at night.
My uncle is a medicine man and he has had many encounter with skin walker. The one that stuck with me was once when he was running a peyote meeting during the midnight prayer he went outside the teepee. Once outside he started the prayer a skin walker in a BEAR skin ran right up into his face. He could do nothing but continue the prayer staring at it, the only reason it left without doing anything was because he finished the prayer with a whistle blowing. Once he did so it ran off into the darkness again, and he went back into the meeting ti continue. Skin walkers are physically aggressive, they will fallow you and may cure you, if you so happen to see one and recognize it DO NOT speak it's name, it WILL curse you with perhaps death of some serious health problem.

For those who are in mourning of a lost loved one, Skin walkers would visit them, only for a laugh. They do recon in a home as mice and from there observe you. In order to become a Skin Walker, you must be able to kill the person you care most in the world. Whether they're family, friend or just someone you care for. That if there is a person that made a deal with a skin Walker. They can enter your home and give you the worst nightmares. For those who want people dead, Skin walkers will parade themselves as family and lure your security so you can be ambushed. Skinwalkers are something I remember my grandmother telling me about. I saw the silhouette of something tall and bipedal run down my driveway just after the sun went down when I was walking home from the neighbor’s house one summer night. I shone my flashlight toward it and saw nothing. I live in Louisiana and have also experienced being awoken to something trying to turn my doorknob (thankfully was locked) at 4 in the morning,causing my dogs to go nuts. I had a moment similar to these when I got home from middle school one Wednesday. I heard what sounded like my mom calling me from downstairs, like she does when she wanted my help with something. It sounded off, but at the moment I didn't think anything about it. I heard it again a few times when I was looking around for her until I realized it was coming from downstairs, though the light was off. The exact moment I stepped down a couple of steps, I suddenly realized that she wasn't even home and a cold dread feeling made me freeze. Almost immediately the voice sounded again from the backyard, which was facing my back. After I turned around I couldn't actually see anything outside due to it being fairly dark since it was pretty late. Then the voice suddenly stopped. I spent the rest of the night until she got home from work with every single upstairs light on and I was clutching the phone while sitting in a fetal position in the living room chair. I still haven't told her anything about what happened......I *will* admit that I never actually *saw* anything after I finally looked around the house, but I still felt uneasy like I was being watched every time I passed the window. What I heard still scares me to the extent that I'm still scared of the dark even though I'm now 24...... The thing that's so scary about this memory is that I was home alone for about 4 hours until my mom actually got home from work. It couldn't have been an intruder because the doors and windows were all locked, and I always checked the house when I got home from school. The house is a small one floor house and we live in a fairly quiet neighborhood, so we don't really ever have to worry about anything except the neighbor's dog barking during the afternoon occasionally. This is *literally* the scariest thing I've ever had happen to me......
Jay Nevada keep in mind, that according to original legend a skinwalker is just an evil medicine man who adopts the skin of an animal to gain it's power. That considered, it stands to reason that the final entity could retain enough intelligence to discern which heard phrases would be beneficial to mimic and try luring victims, rather than just cycling though recorded phrases at random.

A few years ago I watched a video that mentioned both wendigo and skinwalker. I'm an amateur theologist and spend much of my free time learning about religion, spirituality and the stories that go with them. At the time I worked with a native gentleman I grew quite close to who's grandmother was a tribe elder. I brought up both spirits to him at work the one day to get his input as I knew he was quite well learned in these types of things. The pure fear and worry on his face when I said the names out loud stays ingrained into my memory. He told me it was a terrible idea to say their names out loud, especially after dark. He told me how to keep them away and his experience with a real life skinwalker when he was younger. So many things we believe to just be old stories and myth are very real. As a non native, I'm terrified of many of the spirits, especially as I live in an area of Canada that seems to be a stone's throw from a hot spot of activity

They're similar, but Wendigo and Skinwalkers are very different creatures. Wendigo are from Algonquian folklore and are humans possessed by evil spirits and turned into cannibals. Skinwalkers are from Navajo folklore and are witch doctors who are able to change into animals.

One time when I was visiting my relatives down in Arizona I was spending the night with my cousin and auntie which my auntie is a superstitious person but also likes to tell me ghost stories. Anyway, the whole way to their house which is basically out in the middle of the desert and miles away from the main part of the rez my auntie is telling me stories of seeing a ghost out in the desert and even skinwalkers. Now, as us Navajo's say, talking about them atracts them to you and you dont want them following you, but as kid who lives up in the pacific northwest I didnt believe in skinwalkers. Again the whole time getting to their house she is telling me stories, and we get to their house she stops and tells us to wait. Me and my cousin didnt say anything and I thought she was messing with me like she has before. My auntie then says "there is something out behind the shed.. Im going to go to the side door and when I signal come on, make it quick". So me and my cousin wait in the car for her signal and watch her stare at the shed while unlocking the door. She signals and we get into the house and she goes and locks all the doors and windows and tells us to close the curtains and stay in the living room. We closed all the curtains and are in the living room watching tv when We all heard knocking on the windows and shuffling outside the house. I looked at my auntie and asked"who's out there?" she tells me its a skinwalker that heard us talking and followed us home. At that moment I was fucking terrified, we sat there listening to the shuffling amd knocking, which sometimes was bangings, go all around the house and at times I thought I heard my great auntie's voice and my other auntie's voice. This felt like hours and the knocking turned into scratching. I was crying silently and my auntie tried to comfort me and my cousin who wasmt crying but scared too. We then heard my other auntie (my aunts sister) knock on the front door telling us to let her in. My auntie called her sisters cell to make sure that it was really her which we all heard her cell phone rang amd let her inside along with my great aunt. We told them what was happening and my great aunt and my aunties all went outside with some ash and sage and began to yell out in Navajo "leave us alone! you are not welcome here!" and then blessed the house both outside and inside. The rez is very scary and skinwalkers are real beings. I would never want to see one face to face

I am only 25% Native American, but I have, not including my mother, been raised by my Father's side of the family, the Native American side, my whole life. I am Odawa from my Great Grand Mother, and Cree from my Great Grand Father. Even though we do not come from these parts of the country in the stories, even we do not talk about these creatures/spirits. It is considered bad luck, and if you do mention it, do not talk about it for long. You can never be too carful. Especially with something that is more careful than you. It could be a myth, and I am not one for superstition, but story of these "things" tend to stick with me. I never want to find out if that are real, NEVER. Just remember, if you hear something that sounds familiar, think twice before acting, and be careful in the woods, especially at night and alone.

+CbadOside Wendigo's are cannibalistic spirits that corrupt hungry starving people in the wilderness to cannibalize other humans during the winter. They are of Native American descent and are described as fast, skinny, tall and having either a Deer skull or a frozen head.

Skin walkers are claimed to look human but look nothing similar to a human until they form themselves into one... trust me on this there is a big difference between the two but the things look like that rake thing that went around for a while and their damn scary
on my rez in Idaho I have been told of the goatman. He sits up near the water tower on the rez and watches us Natives waiting for the moment to strike. He goes down to the rez at night and follows people home who are out late. Its like when you are walking you hear hooves clicking against the sidewalk as you walk. I was told whenever Im out late and I hear hooves clicking , when I get home I leave my shoes outside so the goatman doesn't come into the house and take me. The goatman likes to click his hooves together at random so on the rez whenever we heard these echos we knew it was the goatman up near the water tower.

They tend to pace and are kind of twitchy animals. But this was just sitting there, watching the house calmly. I even said “what the fuck is that” and my husband came to look over my shoulder. He replied “it looks kind of like a coyote” and went to the door. But I had a bad feeling and told him not to go outside. He asked why and I said I didn’t know, but don’t go outside. As I said this, it stood up and turned down the driveway. Here’s where it gets weird. It had no tail. It’s body was too large and too long for a coyote but not a wolf either. Then it stood up on two legs right as it disappeared into the darkness.

I'd be careful and not go outside at night at all for a while. During the daytime is fine though I think, not sure. Also, don't say "the word" if you can, either. I've heard talking about them and using that word attracts them more. Though by your stories it sounds like it might just be curious?
Also, maybe look and see what advice there is about such encounters. Maybe take to some elder natives and see what they say.

My uncle is a medicine man and he has had many encounter with skin walker. The one that stuck with me was once when he was running a peyote meeting during the midnight prayer he went outside the teepee. Once outside he started the prayer a skin walker in a BEAR skin ran right up into his face. He could do nothing but continue the prayer staring at it, the only reason it left without doing anything was because he finished the prayer with a whistle blowing. Once he did so it ran off into the darkness again, and he went back into the meeting ti continue. Skin walkers are physically aggressive, they will fallow you and may cure you, if you so happen to see one and recognize it DO NOT speak it's name, it WILL curse you with perhaps death of some serious health problem.

I saw the silhouette of something tall and bipedal run down my driveway just after the sun went down when I was walking home from the neighbor’s house one summer night. I shone my flashlight toward it and saw nothing. I live in Louisiana and have also experienced being awoken to something trying to turn my doorknob (thankfully was locked) at 4 in the morning,causing my dogs to go nuts. I had a moment similar to these when I got home from middle school one Wednesday. I heard what sounded like my mom calling me from downstairs, like she does when she wanted my help with something. It sounded off, but at the moment I didn't think anything about it. I heard it again a few times when I was looking around for her until I realized it was coming from downstairs, though the light was off. The exact moment I stepped down a couple of steps, I suddenly realized that she wasn't even home and a cold dread feeling made me freeze. Almost immediately the voice sounded again from the backyard, which was facing my back. After I turned around I couldn't actually see anything outside due to it being fairly dark since it was pretty late. Then the voice suddenly stopped. I spent the rest of the night until she got home from work with every single upstairs light on and I was clutching the phone while sitting in a fetal position in the living room chair. I still haven't told her anything about what happened......I *will* admit that I never actually *saw* anything after I finally looked around the house, but I still felt uneasy like I was being watched every time I passed the window. What I heard still scares me to the extent that I'm still scared of the dark even though I'm now 24......
The thing that's so scary about this memory is that I was home alone for about 4 hours until my mom actually got home from work. It couldn't have been an intruder because the doors and windows were all locked, and I always checked the house when I got home from school. The house is a small one floor house and we live in a fairly quiet neighborhood, so we don't really ever have to worry about anything except the neighbor's dog barking during the afternoon occasionally. This is *literally* the scariest thing I've ever had happen to me......

A few years ago I watched a video that mentioned both wendigo and skinwalker. I'm an amateur theologist and spend much of my free time learning about religion, spirituality and the stories that go with them. At the time I worked with a native gentleman I grew quite close to who's grandmother was a tribe elder. I brought up both spirits to him at work the one day to get his input as I knew he was quite well learned in these types of things. The pure fear and worry on his face when I said the names out loud stays ingrained into my memory. He told me it was a terrible idea to say their names out loud, especially after dark. He told me how to keep them away and his experience with a real life skinwalker when he was younger. So many things we believe to just be old stories and myth are very real. As a non native, I'm terrified of many of the spirits, especially as I live in an area of Canada that seems to be a stone's throw from a hot spot of activity

My mom is watching King of Queen behind me as I watch this... you have no idea how comforting that is...
One time when I was visiting my relatives down in Arizona I was spending the night with my cousin and auntie which my auntie is a superstitious person but also likes to tell me ghost stories. Anyway, the whole way to their house which is basically out in the middle of the desert and miles away from the main part of the rez my auntie is telling me stories of seeing a ghost out in the desert and even skinwalkers. Now, as us Navajo's say, talking about them atracts them to you and you dont want them following you, but as kid who lives up in the pacific northwest I didnt believe in skinwalkers. Again the whole time getting to their house she is telling me stories, and we get to their house she stops and tells us to wait. Me and my cousin didnt say anything and I thought she was messing with me like she has before. My auntie then says "there is something out behind the shed.. Im going to go to the side door and when I signal come on, make it quick". So me and my cousin wait in the car for her signal and watch her stare at the shed while unlocking the door. She signals and we get into the house and she goes and locks all the doors and windows and tells us to close the curtains and stay in the living room. We closed all the curtains and are in the living room watching tv when We all heard knocking on the windows and shuffling outside the house. I looked at my auntie and asked"who's out there?" she tells me its a skinwalker that heard us talking and followed us home. At that moment I was fucking terrified, we sat there listening to the shuffling amd knocking, which sometimes was bangings, go all around the house and at times I thought I heard my great auntie's voice and my other auntie's voice. This felt like hours and the knocking turned into scratching. I was crying silently and my auntie tried to comfort me and my cousin who wasmt crying but scared too. We then heard my other auntie (my aunts sister) knock on the front door telling us to let her in. My auntie called her sisters cell to make sure that it was really her which we all heard her cell phone rang amd let her inside along with my great aunt. We told them what was happening and my great aunt and my aunties all went outside with some ash and sage and began to yell out in Navajo "leave us alone! you are not welcome here!" and then blessed the house both outside and inside.

I am only 25% Native American, but I have, not including my mother, been raised by my Father's side of the family, the Native American side, my whole life. I am Odawa from my Great Grand Mother, and Cree from my Great Grand Father. Even though we do not come from these parts of the country in the stories, even we do not talk about these creatures/spirits. It is considered bad luck, and if you do mention it, do not talk about it for long. You can never be too carful. Especially with something that is more careful than you. It could be a myth, and I am not one for superstition, but story of these "things" tend to stick with me. I never want to find out if that are real, NEVER. Just remember, if you hear something that sounds familiar, think twice before acting, and be careful in the woods, especially at night and alone.

+CbadOside Wendigo's are cannibalistic spirits that corrupt hungry starving people in the wilderness to cannibalize other humans during the winter. They are of Native American descent and are described as fast, skinny, tall and having either a Deer skull or a frozen head.

+Wendigo so it's almost like a skinwalker but scarier. It's like what killed those Russian hikers who all turned up dead in mysterious ways and mysteriously in different locations.
Re-listening to these stories makes me want to be back in high school again lol. Love the good old ski walker stories. There aren’t a lot of strange things I believe in, but listening to your collection of these stories, I believe fully in them. You aren’t gonna catch me in thick woods alone lol

I know this is an old vid but I just started getting into listening to these kinds of scary stories a cpl months ago, so I'm catching up; and I love these ones about Skin walkers and Wendigos. So just wanted to give props for this being a great video with every story being perfectly terrifying. An awesome vid through and through. Thx!👍💀

I think the fourth story was of a Goatman. I'm not sure whether Skinwalkers and Goatmen are the same. Anyone care to educate me?
Skin walkers are claimed to look human but look nothing similar to a human until they form themselves into one... trust me on this there is a big difference between the two but the things look like that rake thing that went around for a while and their damn scary
on my rez in Idaho I have been told of the goatman. He sits up near the water tower on the rez and watches us Natives waiting for the moment to strike. He goes down to the rez at night and follows people home who are out late. Its like when you are walking you hear hooves clicking against the sidewalk as you walk. I was told whenever Im out late and I hear hooves clicking , when I get home I leave my shoes outside so the goatman doesn't come into the house and take me. The goatman likes to click his hooves together at random so on the rez whenever we heard these echos we knew it was the goatman up near the water tower.

These stories are great. It would be cool to see some vague/silhouetted pics of the skinwalkers. Just a suggestion. Might add to the creep factor. Also preface is pronounced "preh-fus" not "pree-face." ;) Keep up the good work!
Pictures would be good but imagination is much better because you can imagine something much scary than a picture if you just listen & close your eyes it'll be better
