Fast forward to March 16, 2015, and that moment became a reality as Video Games Live performed the Earthworm Jim medley live at The Wilbur Theatre in Boston, MA. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Earthworm Jim and watching Tommy take the stage with the orchestra was an unforgettable experience.

Earthworm Jim was as silly and cartoonish as it was epic and beautiful! Tex Avery meets Space Opera with glorious music that still shines today and will forever! We need it back!
And damn these choirs and that glorious ending solo for Lorenzen's Soil!!!

I've recently come to the baffling realization that 2D platformers with film quality animation during gameplay are incredibly rare. So rare in fact that I only know three examples: Earthworm Jim, Cuphead, and the indie game Pizza Tower which is still in development. There are 2D games that look great like Rayman but the animation is just nowhere near this level
