There actually was an Earthworm Jim cartoon series released around the same time as this game. It had Dan Castellaneta (the guy who voices Homer Simpson) as the voice of Earthworm Jim.
For real, why people always have to say that anything slightly weird comes from consuming drugs? Like creativity isn't a thing, I know some famous artist have used drugs to inspire their paintings, but that doesn't mean everyone does. If someone says "is just a joke", well let me tell you that is not funny when you see it for the billionth time
People were just having way more fun back then and it shows in the games. This game reflected the times. No LGBT+ nonsense, no cancel culture. People could actually take jokes. Hell, there was basically no internet. Let alone social media. If you release this game today im sure some idiot out there would feel offended by one thing or another in the game.

That title screen music is one hell of an ear worm. When I first heard the tune over twenty years ago, it made me happy. A few days after finding the song, I got sick with some sort of flu where I also had an ear infection. As I didn't want to use my computer to play games and whatnot since I had thrown up once, I kept having that title screen music playing in my head. Oh, memories.
I remember getting to the very end of the game without losing a single life. On the final boss chase level, I used a Barn Buster that just made psycrow vanish. It was a clear run to the finish line at that point... until I fell off that cliff...
I'm not gonna lie, I'm not sure which I like more for the salamander level. The SNES Villi People title creating immense whiplash with "what the hell what the heck am I WHAT'S GOING ON" or the Genesis version straight up going "Jim's Now A Blind Flying Salamander!" barely giving you enough time to process it before "Oh. That's what they meant. .....................Wait, what?"

This game came out in 1995 and it took me until TODAY to realize that during the level with the falling old ladies, that the paintings in there were JAWS posters.
Don’t know how or why, but Jim is able to form a shield with his hands. And for some reason, when doing that it allowed the giant filing cabinets 1:23:51 to simply stroll past you without any damage being taken.
One of my favorite games on our Sega Genesis or Megadrive 2. I really love the disgusting humor this game has. It kinda reminds me of Boogerman as well.
That's the one thing I hated about the sequel...most of the levels were so padded out that it was just annoying to play halfway through...not to mention repeating the same irritating level 3 times in the game. I mean, I know it's none to different than the tunnel races with Psycrow in the first one, but holy shit was that one at least quick and painless and didn't drag the hell on. Glad to see how this game ended, though...back then, I was just too pissed off and exhausted to press on :P.
I could be wrong, but it really feels like the developers were high as kites when they created this game. But either way, this is my favorite entry in the franchise 👍

Using Moonlight Sonata for the stage Villi People is just the peak of 90s bizarre video game media and I still love it.
