The fixed camera angles helped alot. You could be running down a hall way not knowing whats in front of you then he just fucking jump scares u out of nowhere walking from the opposite side.
I find Nemesis scarier, plus he's fast, strong and totally horrific looking! Stars! Shudder! For me that first Nemesis jump scare when he crashed through the window terrified me and the music that plays when he's near ugh.
you'er right but i prefer mister x cause he is balanced and you have ti fight him but nemises its nearly impossiple to fight him in the hard mode so you can just simply escape and this what i didnt like that i can escape whenever i want
@@holliswilliams8426 actually I was a grown ass 27 year old dude 😀 Yet despite that fact I was very much impressed by the game. It’s wasn’t about super graphics, it was about music and overall ambience.
Amazing music and erie atmosphere in its first form. Definitely freaked the player out with its appearances out of nowhere. Mr.X provided the jump scares and its last form was one of the hardest bosses alongside Birkin's fourth form.
Captain Jaber Yeah he was really great. A nice blueprint for Nemesis. For a long time I considered that my favorite RE, but it's probably either the REmake or RE7. I really like that you have to beat the game once to even get Mr. X TO appear. And his pursuit of the player kind of throws the traditional RE rules out the window. All in all, a great scenario and character in a great game
RE2 will forever in my heart be the best. It introduced us to new plot points and important ones at that too. Also new creatures, characters and atmosphere as well. RE2,IMO, has yet to be topped. MAYBE by its REMAKE, but that remains to be seen.
Captain Jaber haven't played 0 yet, only played about half of CVX (although I just started a new playthrough recently), and only played Leon's campaign in 6. My order, for the mainline games, from the ones I played, would be : 1. REmake 2. RE7 3. Nemesis 4. RE2 5. OG Resident Evil 6. RE4 7. RE5 Although I will say I've recently played through 2 twice, and haven't played through Nemesis in quite a long time, so those two could potentially switch. And I'm really not a huge fan of 4. I hate what it did to the franchise. I'm so glad 7 brought it back
Nikos Siaflas I agree. I like Nemesis better. If for no other reason than his "S.T.A.R.S." grunt. So amazing. But Mr X is a great prototype, and is creepy in his own right
My first encounter with Mr. X was in the hallway at 0:57. That was one of my most memorable moments in any video game ever; I heard those ominous footsteps and wondered what the hell was going on, and then he appeared around the corner and scared the crap out of me, lol.
used to play this game religiously, over and over again back in the day, every so often over the years id replay it for the fun of it and ofc played through it recently in preparation for the remake. Not once did it ever occur to me to try and check if he dropped anything whenever i felt compelled to drop his ass. so ive learned something new today about a game i thought i'd seen it all in, cheers!
VGBosses 24/7 I mean just look at the final battle with Mr.X, it's in a similar setting to the final battle with the T-1000. The Claire A scenario had an "Aliens" vibe. In short if The movies Aliens and Terminator 2 had a baby, this would be it.
If I'm not mistaken you missed one can't remember exactly how to trigger it but it's at the 3rd floor of the police department and when you try to walk on the balcony he grabs ahold of the rail and jumps up
@@VGBosses247 the original at the time I'd never seen a 3d horror game it blew mind at the time I never played alone in the dark on PC so this was my 1st
I'm going to be playing RE2 and RE3 on gamecube soon so wish me luck on these Mr. X and Nemesis fights lol. This is such a good game and Mr X definitely made it even more scary.
Sgtslayer117 hey, good luck! The Mr X fights aren't actually too bad. Except for the final one. That one is tough. I haven't replayed RE3 yet, but I feel Nemesis is harder
Do you think I should just avoid Nemesis in those optional run/fight encounters in RE3? I was curious how many shots it would take to kill him with the shotgun or pistol.
Sgtslayer117 with the pistol it's a hell of a lot. Shotgun is better, but I think the magnum works wonders. It's probably best to avoid him any time you can. I want to replay the game and fight him at every encounter. Gonna be tough though
I had to watch this as I just encountered him in VR. He was never that terrifying like this but in VR, just the sound of his footsteps is bad enough! It's brilliant to see how far gaming has come to be able to play this today and be inside the game.
I never played Resident Evil 2, but I did play Resident Evil 4. I never noticed the parallels between this game and Resident Evil 4 till I watched this video. Ada throwing a rocket launcher at Leon to defeat the final boss while saying "Use this" and then having Leon escape within 4 minutes is similar to the ending in Resident Evil 4.
Yeah it’s RE tradition. The rocket launcher is used for one or two things. To screw our hero(s) out of a ride or to blow up the final boss in an epic fashion. RE4 certainly made a joke out of both since it was always up for purchase.
Everyone probably already knows this but: running around the final arena clockwise while keeping at medium distance from the guy will often cause him to do the dash+claw attack, but if you're running clockwise and at the right distance you will almost always make him miss -- keep doing that until enough time has passed for the RL to be given to you.
When I was about 10 I played RE2 all summer. I didn't know you could load scenario B to the opposite character. I lost my mind when I found out. Leon B to this day is still my favorite. It felt like Claire A had the heart of the story and trying to look after Sherry. While Leon had a much rockier hill to climb while facing more enemies much sooner with harder routing. Mr. X scared the shit out of me when I first played. I was used to William's routine. See him mid way through and already have a good arsenal by then. I faced X with just a handgun and didn't know how I'd survive the rest of the play through. God I love RE2.
@Graphene Pyromaniac on one hand yes, because you don't just run away from him until Ada throws you the RPG, but on the other hand that one-hit-kill move of his was a dumb idea. Especially since Mr.X likes to spam it a lot after a while and it can get a bit annoying. If you just happen to need to reload during his roaring animation you are f'ed.
@Graphene Pyromaniac - That's true, even though his second form's design isn't as good as the og, the actual battle is a hell of a lot better. That's a good point, i was so disappointed by the design that i almost didn't notice how good the battle actually is this time around lol. He killed me like 10 times with that charge attack on my first playthrough.
@Graphene Pyromaniac - Yeah his broken appearance in that second form almost makes it seem like Leon has driven Mr X over the edge with his constant evasiveness. In the remake Mr X likes to taunt a lot like if he has an ego or a lot of pride in his superiority over others, especially Leon in this case. Instead though, Leon has gotten the better of him. It's like when X grabs Leon in the parking garage, instead of outright killing him like he did to Ben, he instead decides to torture Leon by choking him before trying to go for the kill.
God I remember those days, so fricking cool man thanks for the trip down memory lane. Its the sounds too ah man it was almost like yesterday and yet here we are years later.
Childhood...memories of a time when a was 7 years old, the good old days, a time beyond magic, the golden age of video games and movies. Playing it on my PSX the entire week end.
When I played the original, I remember being jumpscared when he busts through the wall at 1:50. But that was nothing compared to the absolutely horrific jumpscare i had like 5 minutes later at 3:06 because he busts through the wall AGAIN. Like I had just calmed my nerves. That was the peak of games keeping me on the edge. Love it looking back.
Woah! Thanks so much for this awesome comment! Keep up the good work! Also, it's a video showcasing the boss fights, not a very scary video about a 25 year old ps1 horror game. I didn't think preserving the tension was in the best interest of the point of the video

You could be running down a hall way not knowing whats in front of you then he just fucking jump scares u out of nowhere walking from the opposite side.
Man i forgot how creepy this scenario B was. The whole train area, knowing that Mr X can pop out at any time, was absolutely terrifying.
2:15 dat slap - Leon basically got slapped into the next screen haha
3:57 is just so funny. You don’t even see the room yet and the music starts playing. Really terrifying.
I find Nemesis scarier, plus he's fast, strong and totally horrific looking! Stars! Shudder! For me that first Nemesis jump scare when he crashed through the window terrified me and the music that plays when he's near ugh.
Chloe Lane I've also loved Nemesis, and in general he's scarier than Mr X. He was a nice prototype for Nemesis. Love that "STARS" grunt too
Chloe Lane yeah man but it was easier to deal with nemesis due to jill's evasive moves
RandomDudeWalkingDownTheStreet good point!
you'er right but i prefer mister x cause he is balanced and you have ti fight him but nemises its nearly impossiple to fight him in the hard mode so you can just simply escape and this what i didnt like that i can escape whenever i want
nemesis is generally fought in more open areas than x though
Mr. X looks like the Goombas from the Super Mario Bros. movie.
😂😂
XD I’m dying
LMAO
Oh shit, he does
You motherfucker! I can't unsee it.
This is pure love. For some reason old version to me still feels much scarier.
Same here. I don't know why tho
I like both, however as someone who has played the remake first I like the original Mr. X better
Nostalgia plus the fact that you were probably 12 when you played the original. The remake is scarier.
@@holliswilliams8426 actually I was a grown ass 27 year old dude 😀 Yet despite that fact I was very much impressed by the game. It’s wasn’t about super graphics, it was about music and overall ambience.
The camera. You can’t fully follow his movements in this one like you can in the remake
the music gives me the chills.
Captain Jaber can't wait for the RE2 remake. If it's like the OG remake it'll definitely be the best in the series.
0,REmake and 3 didn't really catch my attention in the series as much as RE2 and RE4 did. RE CVX was ok but RE2 revolutionized the series.
Captain Jaber haven't played 0 yet, only played about half of CVX (although I just started a new playthrough recently), and only played Leon's campaign in 6. My order, for the mainline games, from the ones I played, would be :
1. REmake
2. RE7
3. Nemesis
4. RE2
5. OG Resident Evil
6. RE4
7. RE5
Although I will say I've recently played through 2 twice, and haven't played through Nemesis in quite a long time, so those two could potentially switch. And I'm really not a huge fan of 4. I hate what it did to the franchise. I'm so glad 7 brought it back
Me: hey dude wheres the last snickers bar
Freind: *BUURRP*
Me: 6:54
Your not you when your hungry.
well he's no nemesis but still he gives me chils
Nikos Siaflas I agree. I like Nemesis better. If for no other reason than his "S.T.A.R.S." grunt. So amazing. But Mr X is a great prototype, and is creepy in his own right
@@VGBosses247 i thought both were cool, Nemesis and X. Nemesis is basically a X revamped to be more menacing.
My first encounter with Mr. X was in the hallway at 0:57.
That was one of my most memorable moments in any video game ever;
I heard those ominous footsteps and wondered what the hell was going on, and then he appeared around the corner and scared the crap out of me, lol.
6:50 his music reminds me of Jonathan Joestar's theme
Fun fact: that piece is called "Lacrimosa", part of Mozart's Requiem
*Requiem*
Because it sounds like a hero has arrived to lay down some justice!
As much as I love the nemesis, nothing can outmatched Mr x bursting through the wall jumpscare like that in the original or the remake
used to play this game religiously, over and over again back in the day, every so often over the years id replay it for the fun of it and ofc played through it recently in preparation for the remake.
Not once did it ever occur to me to try and check if he dropped anything whenever i felt compelled to drop his ass. so ive learned something new today about a game i thought i'd seen it all in, cheers!
The music when he jumps out in his final Tyrant form is just delightfull
Leon B scenario gave me "Terminator 2" Vibes.
Christian Marilla haha yeah I can see that
VGBosses 24/7 I mean just look at the final battle with Mr.X, it's in a similar setting to the final battle with the T-1000. The Claire A scenario had an "Aliens" vibe. In short if The movies Aliens and Terminator 2 had a baby, this would be it.
Christian Marilla Haha, Leon's hair looks like John Connor's XD
Anki Hansen I mean that haircut was pretty popular back in the 90's. It sorta made a comeback today but the style is much shorter and cut in a fade.
Fun Fact: The Nemesis is actually inspired by the T-1000
How come Leon never mentions this guy to Claire?
Smith Wesson i would be scared that mentioning him would bring his ass back......
Claire had to deal with his Bitchass too
He probably did after the game.
@@Comkill117 he did while banging her.
He was jealous. A big, muscular dude would've easily caught female attention. Leon(ardo) couldn't let that happen.
1:51
Tyrant: *OH YEAHHHHH!*
If I'm not mistaken you missed one can't remember exactly how to trigger it but it's at the 3rd floor of the police department and when you try to walk on the balcony he grabs ahold of the rail and jumps up
Actually I think I remember now... wen you put the gear in the slot if you don't slide down the vent and turn and walk back out it triggers him
He only appears in that area with Claire not with Leon.
Grim trIO only in Claire's B story
that's actually with Claire B
Both Leon B and Claire B have 1 unique Tyrant encounter (all the others are alike)
That one about the rail is Claire's
1:50 - 3:06 it was the best jump scare of my life D:
henry rios oh yeah it's great. You don't expect him to smash through the wall, and you REALLY don't expect him to do it a second time
VGBosses 24/7 hard work and time to get the keys for the fucking doors :( , and he smash it the wall easily the damned.
henry rios it was really effective!
this and the licker through the window made me shit myself when i was younger
the arms over on the windows, always forget that shit
1:50 That scared the fucking shit out of me jesus christ, I almost threw my phone across the room
Your final fight was a nail bitter...leon gimped outta there lmao. I remember i died alot playing this game.
John Boy yeah that battle was rough. I really did not play it very well!
Fuck the rules n play the game who cares
Abuse it
Resident evil 2 is the first resident evil game i played that made me a big fan of the resident evil franchise.
COREY FULTZ I played the original on PS1 around the time it came out , and loved it, but the second one improves on it in basically every way
@@VGBosses247 the original at the time I'd never seen a 3d horror game it blew mind at the time I never played alone in the dark on PC so this was my 1st
Me too!
One of the most iconic classic enemies of this franchise, I adore it and thanx for this good video.
Sgtslayer117 they make one great tag team
the meaning of '' I'll be back''
Now we need an edit of this video, but each time Mr X appears, "X gon' give it to ya" from DMX starts to play...
0:40 at this moment, the player paused the game and thought "what the fuck did I get myself into"
Him busting threw walls unexpectedly made this version a bit more scary
Remake did it too, in the same room
The limping when your character is hurt was a brilliant touch by the developers. It added a great level of vulnerability to the player.
amazing video resident evil 2 is a true classlc
COREY tron yeah RE2 is one of my favorites. I might like Nemesis a little bit more though
Original RE3 was much better than original RE2, but remake RE2 is much better than remake RE3.
@@holliswilliams8426 RE3 Sucks, it’s not even supposed to be the third game
I had to watch this as I just encountered him in VR. He was never that terrifying like this but in VR, just the sound of his footsteps is bad enough! It's brilliant to see how far gaming has come to be able to play this today and be inside the game.
@6:45 When I found the fool who had eaten my leftover lasagna.
0:09 Just knowing there are five other Tyrants being transported is terrifying 😣
They are all dead in re3 factory
I never played Resident Evil 2, but I did play Resident Evil 4. I never noticed the parallels between this game and Resident Evil 4 till I watched this video. Ada throwing a rocket launcher at Leon to defeat the final boss while saying "Use this" and then having Leon escape within 4 minutes is similar to the ending in Resident Evil 4.
Raul Martinez mr x. isn’t the final boss lol ... and in every RE game you kill a final boss with a rocket launcher 😂😂
Yeah it’s RE tradition. The rocket launcher is used for one or two things. To screw our hero(s) out of a ride or to blow up the final boss in an epic fashion. RE4 certainly made a joke out of both since it was always up for purchase.
and you forgot acting as an overpowered bonus weapon for NG+ that you usually get for beating the game in a certain amount of time.
Ok kid.... time to go back to bed
3:05 REDRUM, in the wall, The Shinning
Mr.X: The armor I used to seal my all too powerful strength is now broken.
Leon: 0-0 ok
Damn you got screwed over in that corner during the final Mr. X fight
Ya'll just gonna act like 3:05 didn't happen while you had it at the loudest level of volume ever?
I literally JUMPED 😂😂😂
The best resident ever. Greatness.
Everyone probably already knows this but: running around the final arena clockwise while keeping at medium distance from the guy will often cause him to do the dash+claw attack, but if you're running clockwise and at the right distance you will almost always make him miss -- keep doing that until enough time has passed for the RL to be given to you.
When she says her parents aren't at home 1:51
Hilarious and original
@@future8772 Please, enlighten us with your advanced sense of humor (if you have any). I'll wait.
R.I.P PAUL HADDAD
It's crazy I used to play this game all the f****** time and I do not remember seeing mr. X until the remake
4:30
You forgot when he appears when you don't look at the camera.
It works on both claire and leon.
Even scarier when you don't know when he pops up
Damn, vanilla mr X is a complete pushover compared to the remake
His second form is much better in the original though.
@Graphene Pyromaniac
I don't. I just said that it can be very annoying and was not a good decision design wise.
1:51 this is what happens when I steal my mom's Chinese food
Childhood...memories of a time when a was 7 years old, the good old days, a time beyond magic, the golden age of video games and movies. Playing it on my PSX the entire week end.
Therapist: Mr X is not real. He can’t hurt you so stop acting so crazy.
Mr X: 0:57
wow... honestly the camera angle from the original makes it so much more intense as a horror game
i thought this dude was scarier then nemesis hes slow and break through walls and smashes the monitor
The encounters on the new remake are going to be savage!!!!!
Even today, Mr. X scares me!
The fact that the plane was carrying 6 of these sons of bitches !!!
the remake does this game justice . its soooo clean
The remake does the original justice but improves upon it and modernises in it a way which is amazing. Great remake.
It is good but its still not 💯 than the original since they cut enemies and mr x final form. still.. its way better than re3 remake.
6:44 one of the many epic moments in this game that the remake was not able to top.
Don't worry CoryxKenshin made that better. Man Stripped and Beast mode it.
thank you capcom for the re2 remake, I love the game like I loved the original as a kid.
I remember this! THIS Encounter got me EVERYTIME!
Mr. X was Capcoms version of Michael Myers’s.
While Nemesis Is Capcom's Terminator
While he reloaded the shotgun Mr.X does the ground pound at 1:14 like “That….shit…..hurt!”
1:51 I still remember that. I felt paranoid for quite a while
can't wait for resident evil 2 remake looking forward to playing it.
Prime 3285 mr x will be dlc XD
You can really feel the tension as he opens up his inventory 20 times during the scary parts
Woah! Thanks so much for this awesome comment! Keep up the good work! Also, it's a video showcasing the boss fights, not a very scary video about a 25 year old ps1 horror game. I didn't think preserving the tension was in the best interest of the point of the video
Its embarrassing seeing people who beat re 2 but never played the B scenario
Thank you for having the only sensible comment here! Not only never played B scenario, but don't even know of its existence or understand what it is!
