  • Thank you for taking the time to watch this video! Today I will go over my experience as a transgender person living and transitioning outside of my home country. Is the environment in The Netherlands as trans-friendly as you think?? Let me know what you expected!

    I've assisted a few young adults go through the legal transition here in New York state (US). This is a good place to transition, but it takes so long to do counseling, hormones, surgery (if desired), name change, birth certificate gender change, social security card, driver's license, passport, and probably school/uni records. It helps to have an older adult to lean on emotionally if a parent isn't helping. In parts of the US, it isn't possible anymore, but we are holding strong in NY!! ❤

      I'm glad there's still places and people in the US who do want to keep providing the necessary care for trans people and trans youth in particular ❤️

    Feel you as a person who is transitioning in foreign country т-т I can start hrt, but not legal transition. And gender ending of surname gives me so much pain

      Right? It's so frustrating to be able to do some thinfs but not everything, and being able to medically transition but not legally leads to a grown man with a female ID, making it more confusing for everyone. I hope you'll be able to fix everything anyway at some point!

    Real interesting to hear trans european experiences, tho I didnt know Polish people were considered Slavic and not Germanic. Its plenty racist here (Ontario) , but things tend to be more politcial and class based than like "heritage", cis people fight over weirdest shit.

    • @queerpagan
      @queerpagan  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      Oh yeah, Polish people are Slavic, and the Slavs are actually the biggest ethnic and linguistic group in Europe (Think of Poland, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Czechia, Slovakia, Slovenia etc) and yet considered "inferior" by right-wing western Europeans. I think class is also an important factor here in Europe, but ethnicity goes above all when it comes to discrimination, and the two are also linked, since it's more difficult for minorities of any kind to access the same power. It's wild. Anything other than the middle class heterosexual neurotypical WASP man is considered bad at this point 😭

      It's never too late to be yourself it may not be comfortable due to stigma but there are trans people of every age , hopefully in the future you find a space that is accepting and be able to express/ present however is most comfortable and live ur best life

      @@ealing26 like @morphingfaces said, it's never too late! I fully understand why you might think it's too late for you, but it's never too late to start living the life you always should've had. Even if you decide never to transition, I hope you will be able to live at peace with your identity in private at least. It must be difficult ❤️

      I will be 48 in about a month, ftm, and I am transitioning. I'm just over a year on testosterone, I've moved, got a job with many supportive people, and I'm really just waiting to build up some pto so I can get top surgery. If you want it, don't be afraid to chase it. Be the best you you can be. Peace, sister. 💙

      MtF meaning male to female? That makes no sense because you can’t change sex.

    I got put through cure treatment 1st back in 1977 when I was 13. I was then thrown out of the family home when it failed to deter or change me when I was 15. Then I was free to take charge of my own life & destiny & completed my SRS in beginning of the 1980's and disappeared back into society with my patterner. Only resurfacing in 2017, 5 years after my partner's death.

    As a person with a Polish last name, I can't really expect anyone in the world outside of Poland to know how to pronounce my name. I don't even pronounce it correctly

    • @queerpagan
      @queerpagan  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Why don't you pronounce it correctly yourself? I guess that would make sense if you're not a first generation immigrant. I guess then it's not that important how it is pronounced, if you yourself don't do it correctly. I still regularly come to Poland, and it would be very strange for me to start mispronouncing my own name 😅

      @@minnesota5167 you need to understand the difference between "Jews" and "the state of Israel". The current genocide has nothing to do with just being Jewish, it has to do with Zionism and nationalism.
