This is easily the best LAB video on the internet. Simple explanations and I love it. Thanks my man and thanks @labputters for being great! Maybe the next video can be MEZZ 1 MAX VS OZ?
Thanks for the review David. I was really close to pulling the trigger on a DF3, then there was a rush of putters dropped to compete with the DF3, including this OZ. I figured I might as well just wait and try different putters out. I tried the square to square putters as well as the evenroll zero tork putter. So far nothing feels as easy as the DF3 for me. But I am anxious to try the OZ, as it does look better to the eye.
Great video and good explanation of the technology. 30+ years golfing only 3 putters: Zebra, Rossie, EXO Rossie and this one is going to make #4. Do yourself a HUGE favor and do the online fitting from LAB, it's quick and easy and hopefully accurate. I ended up with 0* lean(I use forward press already) and 35" in red.
How do you like the feel vs the Bettinardi Sb1 and Sb2? I was fitted into SB1 but need to roll more putts before committing. The face looked so small at address for me. Coming from a Scotty Cameron blade, I want to stay with milled face.
I love the DF3, but I had some issues with distance control. The softness of the face led to me coming up short on several too many putts. I am curious, why you chose the straight shaft rather than the onset?
Didn’t mention with the regular grip you should order the zero shaft lean option. 1st time they offered this. Not sure why this wasn’t mentioned. In fact if you order the stock with lean you can only order with the press grip. The custom order allows you to order a std grip with no shaft lean. The onset is the same regardless the shaft lean amount is the difference.
I thought about this, but in a video format it can get a little confusion. the L.A.B. grip is asymmetrical and is really interesting, but simply having grip options with lie angle balance was the part I thought most people would want to be aware of. Working with fitters (or L.A.B) would give them the details yo are talking about. All the same, good points. - DD
Do you feel the LAB putters are worth the additional cost versus Odyssey Square to square. Also I see comments from many people that its harder to lag putt with a LAB putter then traditional putters. Why do think that is?
Cost and value are relative for every player. If you get properly fitted for a putter that performs better than other putters, but it’s $75-$150 more expensive, is the added price worth the better performance to you? Working with a good fitter, what you want to do is find the best performing clubs in a price range that you can afford and live with. - DD
@@DavidDusek Really shocked that they didn't have these sent to their fitters before announcing them. I'm same as cyn. I was all-in on DF3 but would like to try the OZ1. Bummer that a choice couldn't be added to the xmas list because the fitters don't have them to test out.
I've talked with Sam Hahn, L.A.B.'s CEO, a few times and his company is exploding with growth. Ideally, fitting parts would be released along with announcements, as you say, but the whole 'Zero Torque' craze has forced things to accelerate. He doesn't want frustrated customers, but I think there is a sense that L.A.B has to strike while the iron is hot. My advice would be to wait (if you haven't already bought a club), try both putters, and then make your purchase. - DD
If the OZ.1i proves to be popular, I could see LAB adding an insert option to the DF3, but golfers buy LAB putters for the balance and way that its putters stay square to the path of your stroke. I doubt we’ll see “exotic” metal inserts any time soon. Stainless steel is popular and services the need for milled inserts. - DD

The Bettinardi also looked small to me, as I noted in my video (th-cam.com/video/So_UpNRoA-s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sRh2K6UWEnkxoUAQ), but I loved the soft feel and the sound of impact. I recommend finding a shop that gets an OZ.1i and rolling some putts with it to see if it gives the sound and feel you are looking for. The stainless steel insert in the OZ.1i definitely makes it feel more crisp, but sound and feel are subjective. - DD

Thats one of the best explanations of lie angle balance and the face to path relationship ive seen. Well done!
Thanks. I have served. I will be of service. - DD
I will be getting fitted for one of these in the spring!

It's always good to try before you buy. - DD
Not surprising that LAB also increased the price this season. My DF3 is just fine. Thanks for the information David.
The standard OZ is the same price as a DF3, the insert model is $50 more
There is an added cost in creating a milled, stainless steel insert. An extra $50 doesn't seem unreasonable to me. - DD
Except they didn’t increase the price. The ozi is $50 more bc the insert

awesome review trying to decide between a LAB putter or the Jailbird putter price might help make my decision lol cheers from Canada
Got my oz ordered on release day!
After using it for a few rounds, let me know what you think. - DD
@ yea I def will

I really like the surlyn Pure Roll inserts on TaylorMade spiders. Which LAB face do you think is closer in sound and feel?
The standard aluminum face of traditional LAB putters will create a softer, quieter sound than the milled insert in the OZ.1i. - DD
Great explanation
Glad it was helpful! - DD
David do you prefer the df3 feel or the feel of the insert in the oz?
I haven’t used the OZ.1i enough to definitively say, but generally, I like the feel of a milled face. - DD
easyt answer, no its not better, its slightly less forgiving but uses the same technology. Its just a different flavor.

Had set my mind on a DF3 now they’ve thrown a spanner in the works🤔🤔
Test them both with the help of a fitter and see which one works better for you. - DD
More choices with OZ…insert, shaft lean

@@DavidDusek Appreciate that. I'm getting ready to book at fitting with them in Creswell.
David, do you foresee a time when LAB may offer different face inserts, e.g. copper?
