Been playing DF3 since summer and it’s transformed my putting. It’s the real deal. Playing at scratch and been playing for 30 years. Going from weak part of my game to my strength. Buy one!!!
I'm no where near scratch but the DF3 has completely changed my putting numbers with little effort. It so unbelievably forgiving and stable. I went from decent at best to really good.
Green head with that white shaft is 🔥🔥🔥 I just bought a new spider gt max but I'm a putter freak, damn I'm really gonna have to buy a LAB. Been looking at em for a year now.
As someone mentioned on your review of the Wooden putter a few weeks ago. You should try and get a hold of a Honu putter. Zero torque, head made from recycled Bamboo( which is actually a grass not wood).Made in Hawaii. Just ordered one customised with weight shaft length and grip. Even with shipping cost came out cheaper than a LAB
I talked to LAB about the whole grip thing. They said if you got a grip that was +/- 10g from the original factory balanced grip that you will be fine. I'm getting mine with a 21" Jumbomax at 151g but I will most likely swap it for the 17" Super stroke 3.0 at 93g and add a 60g weight in the butt end of the shaft. I'll be +2g over factory grip and I can live with that.
Cheers TT! I completely get Labs theory, and it’s great to see if does actually make some impact in reality 👌🏼 The data has scared me though, I can not believe how far out of the toe I’m Hitting a putter!!!
Just got my Lab DF3 same alignment as you gary, only played one round but found it really good, i use aimpoint for reading the greens so that defo helps, the putters are great
That's a lot of data. Very good for understanding how these differ. Yes, you can put good with anything if you are able to adapt to the rotation and keep the face square through impact. With the LAB putters it is just so much easier to do that. Don't need to fight with the club head rotation.
Been using a lab df 2:1 for coming up to two years now Gaz but unless you can read the green or get the pace bang on the only difference is the lab rolls the balls better , I briefly went back to a oddessy seven versa for a few rounds and now back to the lab
No I agree, a lab putter isn’t going to solve everyone’s problems, but they certainly do roll the ball so well and it makes it easier to repeat a stroke. I had a bad putting round yesterday due to poor preparation, so definitely can’t get complacent! A good pre round warm up required!
I have a strong arc but try to keep the face square after impact like Rory. Had no problem switching to a LAB. Not exactly like your stroke though. Best plan may be to grab your golf shoes and your favorite golf balls and go spend 30 minutes and see if it's compatible.
I have a DF3, definitely more stable and consistent with the lab. Not a magic putter though, I’ve had some bad days but mostly good so far. It Takes some time to get used to though.
interesting. One of the few times I've believed to tech that they throw at you. Dont think the missus will appreciate me spending the dosh on one though
@ I’ve played a DF3 since around July this year and there’s definitely something in the tech. But your answer has got me thinking, if the LAB is “Lie angle balanced”, am I right in thinking that, if you are fit for say a 69 degree lie angle, then, when you make a stroke and you let the putter do the work, it returns to 69 degrees? But it’s classed as zero torque, which I understand is the twisting of the putter. I’ve probably understood it incorrectly but I do know that I’m a much more confident putter than I was before.
I think all the big OEM's are trying to catch up to LAB as they have taken something that affects all players and help them with their game immediately. Probably the best bang for your buck as it's a club that can be in your bag for a long time.
Yes, that’s the miss conception, lie and balanced stay square to your stroke, no matter your arc. You don’t need to be trying to take it straight back and through.
Yes, regardless of stroke shape they are designed to keep the face square to the path, not the target. Its your job to make sure your path is to the target.
Yes, fantastic question! Thank you. I have always been wondering the same. And I have been told every single time that I have a strong arc… So this is great to know!
Can we see the competitor's 'zero torque' putters compared? LAB is saying none of them are actually zero torque. There's a lot of hype about these putters and I'd like to know if what LAB is saying is true or not? That said, I'm a poor putter and I know I could use a 2x4 and putt just as well as using a $500 LAB putter, so I'll stick with my $60 Odyssey.

I’ve seen a cobra driver that has a adaptor with more options that’s Rubik’s cube lol I appreciate the heads up, but I’m going to try to focus on the brands that value me sharing their products and playing more golf ⛳️😃
The problem I've got, golf isn't played in perfect conditions like those. And when the putt isn't flat, it's up and down it's side to side slope, or there's a bit of wind, or any other uncontrollable conditions, the number of putts you make in the real world likely won't change because your putt tendencies will probably hinder you on an average of 50% of the time, and it will probably help you 50%of the time too. And by my own calculations, in the real world that's the same number of putts made. So there's almost zero advantage
The only thing that bothers me about this test is that the person putting said they were trying to take the lab back more square. So some of the better results could be from the effort to make a better stroke. Also, gotta fix hitting it off the toe like that. I think that will bring more improvement than any putter change. Gary is still open at every point in his stroke with the LAB. Versus open, open, closed with his current club. Which is odd because while closed, he hit 4 of 5 putts right of the cup.
Labs aren't for everyone. Everyone out there is making it seem like LAB's will be better for everyone -- not the case. I tested my Scotty NP2 against all the lab offerings. I delivered two perfect scores with my scotty to set the baseline and then we moved on to all the labs. Not one of them got a perfect score and they were significantly WORSE for me and my stroke. Labs work for some. but not for all. Get fitted for the right putter.
I’m sorry guys but I don’t believe in the value of zero torque! We swing it so slow for a put! We swing (on average 100mph for a driver, a putter about 12mph!) all of the best players I play with are good just through practice
My only question to you or any good player who practices a lot, is why would you want torque? I’m always willing to learn and broaden my knowledge, but I’m struggling to put up an argument for torque putters given the theory of LAB and the data results in practice.
I think the switching of grip methods even the best pros do answered this question. Why use a claw grip? That’s to minimise twisting of the trail hand. We’re talking about a one degree or less difference, which affects the starting line. I believe the tongue balanced innovation is real. You don’t fight the putter but let the technology helps you. Don’t underestimate a slow putting stroke, as toe hand and face balance putters had for years been making different putting style more effective.
You should realise the best players all have meticulously fitted putters specifically tuned to their style, so not just go grab an old bullseye putter and let practice deal with that.
Also I’m not convinced the lab revealer is accurate as it supports the top and quite low down the putter shaft which isn’t where our hands are? If the revealer was shortened to the same length as the grip I’m sure it would react differently, but each to their own is one of the beauties of golf, I still like the video Gary so why not test the lab vs an axis?
Gaz you changed your grip with the LAB, surely that impacts stroke more than the putter would? It's a mixed review and the difference in grip kind of invalidates it.

@@danielwarren2355 do you put with your putter in a frame, no its in your hands so it doesn't spin. Its a marketing con
@serrennamarkham6752 the putter isn't on a frame for the data capture? It's Vs another putter also not in a frame which doesn't have the LAB tech.
@@danielwarren2355 crap mate, tiger never used a lab putter and he was the best in the world so its not needed its a marketing con. average golfers will see no difference
@@serrennamarkham6752 your arguement couldn't be any worse, you're selecting the best golfer ever to counter what we're saying Vs the average handicap golfer 😂
I'm speaking from actual life experiences, having owned one, seen my brother use one for 6 months and now a friend use one. it's not marketing, they work for people, maybe if you ever get the chance you could give them a proper try and not just believe what you "think"
Here's some content get to a driving range top tracer 1 create an event offer your subscribers a chance to play in a range match and have like a league offer a prize of a round and lessons from you in the summer
It's a brilliant idea, but whoever comes last should get the lessons! 😁
😂😂😂😂
You eill never improve by changing your putter monthly
I completely agree and now I’ve seen that putter data, it maybe half the reason why I’ve been so quick to try new clubs.
I don't know, the average person is not going to benefit as much from a "zero torque" putter as they would if they spent that same money on putting lessons to improve their stroke.
Click bait garbage
No putter has the torque to twist your hands. The putter doesn't select your line or speed. Then again, if you believe something enough, it probably will help... that now comes down to the mental aspect of the game. Putting is more art than science.
You’re the type of person who I would bloody love to come and do the test! Your putter vs a LAB… I’d love it 😅
@garymartingolf lol, Evnroll, Cameron, Ping, Odyssey, got them all and have played a few rounds with the Lab, nice, but I can't get rid of the $90 putter in the bag. Admittedly, I have modified it, but it keeps on winning. Cheers.
Great review I just have to say if you’re a scratch golfer the rest of your game must be magnificent
Coz your putting is pretty shit 😂
With that data, I’m not even going to attempt to defend my putting! If I get any further towards the toe, I’ll miss it!
