Grandson lost his phone in our house but we get a notice sayin notifcations are turned off. We tried calling it but no help and using find my iphone we know it's in the house somewhere.
If we erase and then can ring it we'd be very happy if all we had to do was reset it.

2FA is not required to enter the Find My site.

Yes 100% better erase it and they will never be able to unlock your icloud only if you never get contacted back, otherwise if no internet you can’t erase it and without password they can’t get in as simple as it is, iphone is good in terms of security, and lets say even if somehow they get in your offline phone through screen lock, they wont be able to use it anyways since your icloud is there. And if they connect to internet then finish 😂 phone will be auto erased because u did that remote reset. But yes next time be careful don’t lose your smartphones.

Sorry to hear about your phone being stolen. You have done the right thing by erasing your iPhone. Am assuming you were running iOS 15 or above which will still allow you to track the phone but at-least your data will be wiped and hence safe from falling into wrong hands. Once the erase is complete, an Activation Lock will further protect the device from being used again by anyone. I believe when you place your device in lost mode or you remotely erase the device, it automatically removes it from being a ‘trusted device’ which would atleast prevent it from receiving any two factor authentication codes inked to the iCloud atleast.

Yes. Everything will be erased. The iPhone in then set to factory settings and your iCloud will be removed
Sorry to hear about your phone being stolen. I know this is a late reply, but yes Erase IPhone will wipe all ‘user data’ including all messages, pictures, apps you had downloaded, etc. and bring the phone back to its original factory settings. One of the main reasons I prefer iPhone or apple products is because of the time and effort Apple puts in to secure data. Everything is encrypted and once you remotely erase your phone, the 256 bit encryption code is deleted forever making all data useless (not readable and not viewable). The iCloud (Activation) Lock is automatically enabled after the erase which prevents anyone from setting up the device unless they have the original owner’s iCloud login details which would require both username as well as the password. Hope that helps in some way.

Would the passcode be gone without erasing data ? My iPhone got disabled as I forgot my 6 digit passcode so I’m wondering if clicking this option will allow me to unlock it 😭
