Keep in mind the footage in today’s video was recorded capturing the various graphics modes that’s why the framerate is a little all over the place. If you choose performance it’s a fairly solid 60fps!
if their is going to be a second or franchise theme to ghostwire I am going to assume it moves on from Japan to China or Korea than on to the other than moves west . . .assuming they don't decide to do something with India and Russia
I'll definitely be picking this game up on sale when I decide to upgrade to a next-gen machine. Reviews aren't the best for this game but it's nice to hear that you enjoyed it immensely
Can’t listen to reviews man . Play it for yourself . People copy what other people say so they get views . She’s being honest about the game . The game is good
@@MorrisseyMuse They're not completely wrong companies do use hype culture to get a lot of people to buy their game even if it comes out in a really buggy unfinished state Cyberpunk being the most obvious recent example. Hype isn't inherently tied to bad business practices like that but they do play a big part and it's a pretty shitty part of the gaming community at large since it lets these companies just get away with releasing unfinished games or on the other end of the coin people will hype up a game and it won't live up to their expectations which then kills off a perfectly fine game that just had monumental expectations behind it IMO hype culture is one of the worst parts of the gaming community.
I feel like too many reviewers played only half the game on Easy mode and then gave up on it. Playing the game on harder difficulties is vastly more rewarding
Played the whole game from start to finish on hard (did most side content, too) and I can say that it's pretty average, gameplay-wise. It looks great, the voice acting (in Japanese) is great, the story is okay (a little barebones and the pacing is weird), but the gameplay is just... fine. It gets really repetitive and boring as you close into that halfway mark, since you really only have 3 weapons (and a bow/a few types of ofuda). So while the sights are fantastic (I've heard it's a pretty accurate representation of Shibuya), virtual tourism in an empty ("") city can only go so far.
I agree, my only real issue with the game is that the story is pretty lacking until the very end where they dump like 90% of it on you. If the story was divided a bit better I think people would have liked it a bit more.
@@digontozahid I agree but I said it was a better experience overall on hard. I don't like to just trash all over games. The game has good moments and is by far a horrible product so I don't like to make it seem like it is
@@tgreaux5027 Capping. There are a few enemies in the game. Shiromuku, Kuchisake, Forlorn/Forsaken, lamentation, Marionette, Paper Doll/Passenger, Rage Walker, Rain Slasher, Rain Walker, Relentless Walker, Rugged Walker, Shadow Hunter, Shrine Dancer, Student of Misery/Student of Pain, and Wanderer. That’s all the different enemy names in the game.
I'm baffled how many people look at Ghostwire an go "I don't know what this game is supposed to be" while I'm just looking forward to it so much. Will dive into it on PC this weekend. Thanks for your views about the game!
Eyyy, I was just thinking about how awesome it'd be if you reviewed Ghostwire, when the notification popped up! I was spooked, but like, in a good way 😂🥰
The reviews and impressions for this game have really been all over the place but I think you and I are coming at this from pretty similar viewpoints so your review gave me the push to want to give it a try :3
This was the review I needed to hear, that convinced me to get the game. Absolutely loving it, it's something that feels very unique and interesting and is also the best "tourist" game since Yakuza with how incredibly detailed they rendered Tokyo.
@Donmcron333 what a weird take. Yeah, people who read reviews and opinions for a product to make informed purchase decisions can't think for themselves right? Is that what you're saying?
@@Jenohart kinda yea. And this video isn’t even a review. She’s a gaming enthusiast. So you didn’t even get it based off of someone’s objective review you got it based off of someone else’s strong opinion lmao.
I almost wanna see Ghostwire turn into a global game where we go from ghosts and Yokai in Tokyo to Fae and Ghosts in London but I already know that won't happen but it would be an interesting idea
It didn't sell well so I'd be shocked if we got another one. It kinda reminds me of Prey 2017 critics gave it similar scores to this but has a pretty solid cult following that would love a sequel. Unfortunately both games didn't sell well
Great review, Suzi! It's refreshing to see an in-depth positive review of this game after the wave of mixed reviews, this one really highlights what this game does best and imo it looks like a must-play for me personally. The combat looks super fun, it's like a mix of Bioshock (specifically plasmids in that game) and Doom (especially the glory kill mechanic), and I absolutely love Japanese urban settings in video games so this open world looks like one I'd love to explore.
Fun fact, one of the people who worked on DOOM(2016) Combat and specifically the glory kill system also worked on Ghostwire! It's no surprise it reminds you of glory kills!
@@malazan6004 which aspects have been executed extremely well except for Tokyo and graphics? The story sucks The combat sucks Enemy variety is non existent The bosses suck Platforming sucks Side missions have to be one of the worst in any open world game The skill tree is bare bones The main character is uninteresting The main antagonist is a pathetic loser
One of the few modern games I really want to play. I dont care if its only "okay" as a "game", it looks so creative and fun. With something like ELden Ring I feel like I'd only be going through the motions no matter how well crafted the game is. But here... I don't know what to expect! Everything looks so mysterious and otherworldly.
@@seraphiim444 not much. I played 100s of hours of Dark Souls. I have those animations engraved in my mind. I would likely really love to play it. But like, give it 5 years until I'm no longer fatigued
I legit just got evil within 2 on ps5 recently for 10 dollars and realised I've been missing out on tango games. Was happy to see today ghostwire was 20 bucks pre owned for ps5 so instantly got that too.
@@malazan6004 Evil Within 1 is also sick. I’ve been a Tango fan for a while. I’ve been on both consoles most generations and almost went with just PS5 this gen until Microsoft announced their purchase of Bethesda and, as a result, Tango. Would love an Evil Within 3 but I hear they don’t want to be pigeon holed so we’ve been getting things like Ghostwire and the recent Hi Fi Rush. Always look forward to whatever they have coming up in the pipeline.
I read somewhere that this game started as The Evil Within 3, and for that i'm super sad it didn't came out. But, stil, this looks amazing and i hope i'll play it someday.
Leave poor Sebastian Castellanos alone. He's finally out there living his life with his kid, and he has somewhat accepted that his wife is gone and at least has closure on knowing where she was this whole time. Unless.. she somehow survived the collapse of Union, and he is going in one last time to get her? Hmm.. But maybe we need some closure on Joseph. Evil Within 3 with Joseph as main character?
Seems like a case where I can totally understand the review scores, and still be comfortably excited to get it. It also makes me think that the trailer both did its job well and not so well. The game seems to be directly aimed at Japanophiles, Youkai enjoyers and casual "spookhouse" lovers. I don't think the general public will necessary click with it so easily - I hope it does get enough sells though.
I don't care what the other people think about it, but I genuinely love this game. The actual story is super short when you JUST play the story, but adventuring through the alleyways and sniping Visitors from rooftops while looking for collectables is really fun for me. Even the updates have been really awesome (absolutely loved the school side missions). The folklore aspect is also extremely cool as it gives you a look into Yokai; as well as other figures from famous "ghost stories" and urban legends there - like Kuchisake Onna and Yuki Onna. Not to mention the design of the game's bosses were stunning.
If anyone was gonna sell me on Ghostwire Tokyo it was gonna be Suzi. I've bought Parasite Eve, Elden Ring, Devil May Cry 3, Bayonetta 1&2 and countless other games from her recommendation alone. Thank you, this video is freaking awesome!!!
@@Sorrelhas Often time it is grammatically correct to write titles in quotations. That said I don't believe the original commenter needed to do so here. Typically you would quote shorter titles and longer titles should be italicized. For example, being a chapter or an individual song should be quoted while the work they reside in like a book or the name of a game should typically be italicized. That said I'll fully admit I'm no grammar expert here so if someone else wants to pitch in I'd be glad to know more!! 😅
@@Sorrelhas that's a good question. I have no idea hahaha. I think I've just always done that whenever I reference like a game or a movie in a comment section.
I’m not even finished with the main story, but this game is already on my “Sleeper Hits” list of 2022. I’m 30+ hours into it, and I’m not even done Chapter 4. Just hunting for the tanuki, Jizo statues, and doing all the side quests has held my interest. The combat is fun, but does get old fast. I think it’s a shame some of the quests are so same feeling, but I think it is still fun. The characters are pretty cool, Akito and KK give me life. The enemies are cool, reading about Japan is delightful, and the game feels sort of calming to just walk around and fighting demons. While I can understand this game getting stale, I’m still having my fun with it. I hope this game gets the recognition it deserves, just like Evil Within.
I have a pretty difficult time with first person games, but you've sold me on Ghostwire. It's still likely going to be a long time before I can play the game, as I own no PS5 and my PC is not dummy-thicc enough, but when next-gen systems actually become something you can just go to the store and buy, it'll definitely be on my list
Thank you! Finally! I feel like so many people thought this would be an FPS style horror game and then didn’t open themselves to what it had to offer once they realized it wasn’t what they expected. All the details are great. The Kanji-Rain is amazing. And any game with good doggies and mystical kittens is always a plus. I also spent a ridiculous amount of time reading all the descriptions of various Japanese snack foods and dishes. It’s sad that Ikumi Nakamura had to depart her post prematurely, I’m very excited to see what she does next though.
I loved it when I noticed the kanji character being the rain drops! I thought that was dope AF. I love the art style all the way around! Just started playing last night on Game Pass.
Glad to hear you liked this. I’ve been hearing a whole bunch of negativity from certain people regarding this game and I was just like, “I don’t know, it looks different and intriguing and I’m down to support new IPs if they look like they were crafted with care and love.”
Thank you Suzi for this wonderful showcase! After watching your video I genuinely want to play Ghostwire, but like you said; gonna have to wait since I currently only have an Xbox Series X at my disposal 😬 Also your voice is prime ASMR quality, I always wear headphones when listening to you. Literal auditory heaven 🤤
My review of this review Extensive gaming knowledge ✅ Soothing voice ✅ Very aware of subjective bias ✅ Great taste in games ✅ SH, I think you’re one of the best game reviewers on youtube!
Glad you enjoyed the game, Suzi! Definitely been a bit confused at how this game was gonna pan out going off of trailers; had no real idea it was open world until reviews started to drop, but overall it still seems like a well executed one!
Hate to burst your bubble Suzi but Makami had nothing to do with this project. In fact, Ikumi Nakamura was the original creative director before leaving Tango, this game was her baby. Kenji Kimura is the listed director for the game now. So please don't give credit to the wrong people, especially considering how overstated Mikami is.
@@Fome Ah yes 2 sentences about Nakamura, just saying that she was in charge of designs. Meanwhile she continually credits Mikami, who had absolutely 0 to do with this title. That was done purposely, they wanted to show off the different talent at Tango.
Unpopular opinion: I feel the _"petting the dog"_ trope in these first-person games is just a cringe gimmick now since it's been done so many times in games. I pet the dog. Okay? So? Now what? Does the dog give me experience? money? a key item? The only dog who I truly thought was worthy of keeping in a video game was Boomer from Farcry 5. Boomer helps, he goes where you tell him, he spots and highlights enemies, he also revives you if you've been downed. When I pet Boomer, he even acknowledges it better than most dogs just simply taking notice, Boomer gets up on his hind legs and it actually happy I pet him, plus that fact that Boomer is a hard worker, and earned his petting. These other rando dogs are lazy.
I bought the game on sale after it had been on my list for a while and i dropped 9 hours into it in 2 days and I'm just absolutely loving it. I just keep having to pause and look around in game while wishing i could go back to japan soon
Actually a decent contender since there's: A river that was set on fire; the Cleveland torso killer; and the two fisherman who died on Lake Erie at the same time as Balloonfest 1986, just to name a few.
So glad you appreciate the game as much as I do! The attention they put into Shibuya is AMAZING! The buses, emergency vehicles, convenience stores, metro stations, fire hydrants, the interior of the E235 Yamanote trains...every minor detail is on point! People who aren't obsessed with Japan won't notice a lot of these details I feel like. I mean, there's a large Shrine where you can see they were selling different Omamori and even Goshuin stamps! Like, I can't believe they actually went out of their way to model all of that! I really hope they succeed with this one so we can get an expansion/ sequel that fully capitalizes on some of the untapped potential. (stuff like an optional daytime mode would be really cool for example)
The visuals, story and style are cool. But the combat seemed pretty basic to me. They surely could have made it better. Still a good game tough. The atmosphere saves it.
@@makeitthrough_ No it's not, he has relegated himself to the backseat letting newcomers to make games in his team. The last game he directed was the first Evil Within game, since then he hasn't done anything, so the disappointment of Ghostwire is not on him.
I’m super excited to play it this week! But Suzi did you know that Ghostwire Tokyo was originally going to be The Evil Within 3 but got changed during the game’s development?! I believe the main character was going to be Joseph who was in his home country’s city, and all the ghosts were manifestations created from people’s urban believes in the Stem World System. Hopefully we will get TEW3 some day and learn what happened to Joseph & Ruvik.
I don’t know, they said that The Evil Within 3 was going to be set in Northern Europe. Plus I think Joseph was born in Canada, his grandfather is Japanese though.
Man, I was so pumped for Ghostwire with the initial reveal at E3. But then the gameplay trailer deflated that enthusiasm a bit, and now this review kind of cemented the fact for me that I'll probably never play this. What a bummer.
This game honestly looks like one of the most unique games of the year. I've never really seen the gameplay, but seeing it and the cool ass hand signs during combat I was like AYO? it looks really fun, and something up my alley. Also as a Persona 4 nut, it was nice to see the culture represented, and the Shinto Yokai/references even just in the video. Unfortunately I don't have a PS5... But I might see if the PC version is good! Great review Suzi!
I have a ps5 and I bought it for pc …. What you mean the pc versions will always be better . I don’t know what type of computer specs you have but I have a Ryzen 5 5600X and a 3060TI it’s going to be great and run great

I wish I could say I was enjoying it as much as you. Evil Within was an incredible and visionary project. Directed by Mikami, knew exactly what it wanted to be. Great gameplay and layered world building. Constantly challenging the player, and letting them piece together what was going on in the story little by little. But normie gamers played it and couldn't handle it. Too hard, and setting/story beats flying over their heads. So Evil Within 2 attempted to make it much more westernized, in all the worse ways. Mikami sitting back as producer, open world and crafting, more open ended and exploitable enemies and scenarios, much easier, and a surface level cliche "save muh daughter" storyline that everyone will immediately understand without any thought, and they continuously beat you over the head with it every 5 seconds. Now for this game, they've just fully commited to make a westernized Bethesda/Ubisoft open world generic sandbox to appeal to everyone. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of cool talent and passion on display. An amazing showcase of graphics, and celebration of Japanese culture. But it's all been wrapped under the hood of the most bland and generic game to come from the studio, with incredibly repetitive objectives to grind out, and ironically soulless combat. Ikumi Nakamura was in a director role, but ended up leaving the studio mid development. I don't know how much of her vision is in tact here, there's some cool ideas and personality that occasionally leaks through what is essentially a Far Cry exterior. I want to love Tango, but I do not like the direction they are going. Just following trends and becoming like every other western dev :( Hope their next project doesn't follow this trend.
Hey sue, I googled you and learned about your early life...the way you turned the tables of your life and the way you are stepping ahead with these sweet sweet youtube content absolutely deserves appreciation...we love you sue💝
This sounds like Yakuza series to me, a divisive one when mainstream reviewers often don't get it, but those who do get the appeal, love it. And the whole Japanese virtual tourism thing.
Am playing it and loving it! Love the immersion and details. You'd be like minding your own business, collecting souls, and suddenly a drum band plays and you see a Hyakki Yagyo (demon parade) roll down the street. One comment Suzie, yeah sorry to be that weeb. But 6:35 Lady D from RE8 is based on the Hachishakusama (8-feet tall woman), not the Kuchisake-onna (slit mouth lady) that is featured in this game
I accidentally had Crush by Polyphia playing way louder than this when I started it and I thought it was the music you chose for the montage of people disappearing and it was really weird.
This sold me on Ghostwire. I was hesitant because I was so disappointed in games last year and seeing 7 out of 10s made me pause. But knowing that Evil Within 1 and 2 also got about a 7 out of 10, and I loved those games, makes me think Ill enjoy this one too. The complaints dont super effect what I enjoy when I play games, which is more about exploring and storytelling. I love Silent Hill 1 and that game has probably the easiest and most repetitive combat Ive ever seen haha. Thanks for this Suzi!

I was in on this game 200 percent when I got it recently, and it's been damn good times getting thru it. The shortcomings are vastly outdone by the .... longcomings of its qualities, from the personality to the beats and battle. Finding that some wayward tanuki had hunkered down out in the streets when the Vanishing went down had me combing those streets like a fungus looking for them all, and the storied details all over the place were just so much fun to find; the shantyhomes here and there, along with that community newsletter about getting those poor folks some help instead of evicting them-- the Visitors seemingly mimicking former life motions. That one kappa down in the sewer that had more or less created a memory-haven made my heart stop for a moment, it was _beautiful._ I'd hope for this teams' continued success and yeah, ANOTHER game with this amount of extra touches and realism would be an amazing gift. I took a ton of screencaps while playing too, just to get some nice pics to share. I don't get to do that in games that often.
considering its a next gen exclusive i really hope the perfomance is alright on launch, imma wait for that since i'm playing on PC, but this review was quite a good look into the game, thanks for going into detail about stuff like the sidequests and the folklore that led to the enemy choices
i hate how calming suzi"s voice is and by that i mean i love it, but i just cant concentrate when i'm already a little tired, and i love her analytical style
The problem is that from chapter 3 onwards the devs basically gave up on the game and there's Nothing to do. Up until that chapter it's fun but I regret buying it
Just finished the game. Loved the atmosphere, loved the overall theme of modern societal ghosts are enemies when traditional and mythical ghosts are the friendly ones. But the gameplay seemed a bit contrived and it holds back. They could have went more with it, since the game itself uses the same engine as Doom Eternal. They should have at least went crazy with the gameplay and "gun" play. The game itself could have been easily became Gantz the game.
This hits so many of my favorite aesthetic cues. I love how pristinely abandoned the city is. A recognizable husk is so much more unsettling than a bombed-out ruin. I'm always a sucker for gratuitous rain, and as a colorblind player, I'm so relieved that technology has progressed past 'real is grey/brown.' I can finally tell what I'm looking at, even at a distance, the same way I can in real life. When the gameplay was first unveiled, I worried that using tengu as grappling points would feel too constrained -- an illusion of free movement, experienced strictly on rails -- but the glide lends some much-needed flexibility. imo, good movement tech lets you feel like you're _breaking rules of traversal_ that normal people have to follow. You _could_ take the stairs, or you can glide from rooftop to rooftop and experience the city from a new angle. Being able to experience the contrast lets you appreciate how high you're flying. And as always, Suzi shows impeccable taste with the Parasite Eve soundtrack
I'm playing Ghostwire now, and I'm having so much fun. As a Vegas resident I cheesed super hard when you brought up a GW Vegas idea. This town is full of spirits. It would work so well.
“You know after you’re done being absorbed by Elden Ring” REAL haha I want to play this but I am committed to finishing Elden Ring first, just beat Malenia last night so I think I’m nearing end game, will definitely be picking this up soon though, thank you for the great review Suzi!
I’ll also be playing in the way you recommended in hard mode with turning off the map icons to let the discovery feel more natural after the experience of Elden Ring
I've watched like 10 different reviews from this game for both big and small name creators, and this is the only one I think that fully appreciates all the creativity that went into the game. That was a great greview! Subscribed!
The graphics and perspective also make this one of those games that'd be great in VR- walking through a rain soaked Shibuya, horrid monsters getting in your face, hand based controls? Obviously, doing the hand signals would be annoying, but a few games have shown that having the players' hands move on their own for events isn't as disorientling as say, having the player move without player input. Cutscenes could even have the player exist as a "ghost" standing in the scene viewing Akito, as simply another spirit piggybacking on him giving support.
Tokyo is like my second home. Been there multiple times and watching this review I was able to be very familiar with the areas showcased. This looks like such a fun game.
My favorite part of this game, now that I finally went on a limb and tried it, is how it uses the tired formula open-world games like far cry use in an inspired and fun way that really changed my perspective on this type of game. The creativity in the side activities is what made them fun, like the kappa needing a cucumber to come out, and then you have to hide until it takes the bait. My favorite is the tanuki. These adorable little goofballs hiding all across the map as everyday objects, with their tail still sticking. There is something so charming about that, which makes collecting them all so much more fun.
Correct me if I’m wrong but.. have you ever played or talked about The Evil Within? Part 1 in particular! Seeing how you love survival horror and Shinji Mikami. I would love to know your opinion on that game.
Have to say you are my favorite out of anyone that uploads content . Great writing, perfect studying of the background history like the RE videos for example, Love the work keep it up :) hope you make a video about shadow of the colossus would love to see you study that & The metal gear franchise that would be amazing, just how you study the wars and mix all the characters story’s also. Amazing work Ms Hunter
It's a wait for sale for sure, not exactly long and some repetitive gameplay elements. Couple that with mid graphics and uninteresting combat after a few hours it will run some the wrong way. The reviews are also not great in this one and legitimate criticism seems there from the reviewers I've seen. More power to everyone who likes it though and gets it day one.
im 50 hours in im loving every bit of exploration. collecting spirits could come a little tedious but the vivid city simply outweighs anything negative about it.

@@saint4986 Btw, Gamestar (which is a german review outlet), are repeatedly accused of being bought by companies. And rightfully so! So taking them as a positive example of not being bought feels just wrong. Probably they are not, since they were not that positive towards the game as they usually are, when they got money. But it still feels wrong.
Most people complain about the repetition of combat, but honestly, its super fun. I played on hard and the game really forces you to manage your resources. Not in a hording ammo sense but a making sure you get ammo back efficiently sense. At first I thought this was going to be survival horror, but then we got a deeper look and it turned out to be more similar to Arkane's games, and that seemed super fun. I imagine a lot of people are disappointed that this isn't a technopunk Silent Hill, but if I have to give my disappointment, it that it didn't lean into enough into the open world and the Paranormal detective aspect. If this game didn't remove the population of Tokyo right in the beginning and had a slower burn mystery story with conversation mechanics like LA Noire, it would have been 10/10. Even the shorter sidequest had something new to offer in spite of the reserved enemy types, it just sucks that we only ever meet people who are already dead.
I found that a lot of the mixed reviews are very squared in their thoughts of what a video game should be and not what it is or it's trying to accomplish, outside of so so combat most complaints seem banal to me. Thank you for the review! Looking forward to pick it up on the weekend and play it when I finish Elden Ring one day hahah.
It looks so pretty but the gameplay are kinda…hmmm…It would be so cool if its in third person just like in Control, so you can see so much on what you’re doing. I guess you can kill slenderman now in this game.. 😂
That review really talked to me more than others because of your care for what can seem like details but are not for many (like me): the lore scattered around, the references to japanese culture, society and mythology behind character models or places, yokais and lost souls ofc!!, the animals that you can pet and get quests from, unically crafted interiors, the visual design (fashonista) and esthetic... Love your references, sources, the rythm of the video, humour, the infos... Subbed to your channel and decided to buy the game
'After you're doing being absorbed by Elden Ring' Ok, no need to call me out like that! XD This game legitimately looks interesting and having a game focused on diving deep into the culture of Tokyo is fascinating. Just as a little extra thing, I think you might be right about it possibly coming to other platforms at some point? I remember seeing an advert on TV that had in small print that it's exclusive to PC and Playstation for now or something along those lines so there's a possibility it comes to Xbox down the line.
As someone that loves Japanese religion and culture, this game is a blast! Loved every minute of it! After unlocking the "summon your own Tengu", travelling around the town and stealth killing enemies was the best way to go around!
You're into some pretty out there games. Luckily, so am I. Our interests usually align. I was going to pick this game up eventually but now that I know it haa your approval, I'll definitely grab it sooner than later. Thanks for doing an always amazing job of breaking down the basics of the game in a technical way that it also easy to understand. I always appreciate your videos and I'm so glad you made one on this game. Can't wait to play it!
Tokyo looks so great in this! the only games that depict japanese cities as gorgeous as this are the Yakuza/Like A Dragon games. But I find Ghostwire Tokyo really unfocused. the open world using ubisoft formula is boring after 5 hours in. Traversing the city is confusing without relying on minimap. The story and characters are not well-fleshed out. The costume customization is great but the game is almost always on 1st person so they're not useful. This is a game that really needs a sequel to iron out its blemishes. Even after update, Ghostwire is just unfocused, repetitive and boring. It's not scary and it's also not fun enough to be an action game the thing i love the most is its encyclopedia of the japanese folklore and its atmosphere. I hope Tango can make a sequel out of this someday
Meh I dunno...it looks very repetitive and somehow "boring" in terms of gameplay, the graphics are top notch indeed! I watched some days ago gameplay videos about this game and can´t figure it out. Maybe I buy it later or so or with a little bit luck one of my friends will buy this and I can decide...
Apparently it was originally going to be The Evil Within 3, it'd be interesting to get a "The history of GWT" video that touches upon the history of its development. It's exactly the same way how one RE4 build became DMC.
The devs definitely learned from the ups and downs of The Evil Within and made another amazing horror, action game. Can't trust reviews nowadays because any game that isn't in an established genre or an established title will always get harsh reviews.
I’m the type of person that will be slowly walking around just staring at all the details, looking for landmarks and just pretending to be in Japan. I’ll be looking for that famous Hachikō statue for sure! I went to Tokyo about ten years ago and absolutely loved it, so games like the Yakuza series, Judgment and Persona 5 have a kind of tourist appeal to me. I’d love to go back to Japan but sadly games like this is as close as I’ll get for the time being.
If they do go forward with a sequel, I'd like to suggest Ghostwire U.S.A, where you play as an army veteran who's just returned home from service and finds himself swept up in a new paranormal phenomenon. Instead of a detective, maybe the partner character could be a criminal who attempts to possess his body in hope he can avoid judgement in the afterlife, but the two end up in the same situation as this character. Maybe some of the side quests can involve issues related to America, like maybe helping an old homeless army vet find peace after passing away, stuff like that which we hear quite a bit of. As for the combat, I'm not sure hand signs of this game would fit well with an American setting, but maybe by forming certain shapes with his hands he could mimic certain firearms; like pointing his index finger would mimic a pistol, it or an open palm could mimic a shotgun. Or heck, maybe instead of weapons he can absorb the abilities of certain ghosts and use them to fight back. I don't know, this was just something I thought up off the top of my head.
I generally agree with your reviews, but this time, nah...It seems so mediocre. Maybe I was expecting a new Evil Within, thus got disappointed bcuz of the Beat Sabre:Tokyo. Anyway, gonna pass on this one.
I'm glad you have a positive impression of the game, and mentioning that the combat gets more interesting. I was unsure about that for a while because it feels like the elemental powers seemed a little underbaked, just doing raw damage in different ways, with just a charged attack for variation. Hopefully there will be a sequel to this game that can expand further on this game. I feel like it has a lot of potential.
Keep in mind the footage in today’s video was recorded capturing the various graphics modes that’s why the framerate is a little all over the place. If you choose performance it’s a fairly solid 60fps!

Cool I guess

I really loved this game for what it was: a love letter to Shibuya and Japanese folklore and mythology.

The game is good
@@Grandmastergav86 hype?! do you kids know what "anti-consumer" practices mean..? lol
@@T8-TR I know your comment is 2 months old but I just started playing it last week and started on hardmode and yeah...your right honestly.
I agree, my only real issue with the game is that the story is pretty lacking until the very end where they dump like 90% of it on you. If the story was divided a bit better I think people would have liked it a bit more.
Its very easy on hard mode as well ...and its open world design is painfully mediocre ...
@@digontozahid I agree but I said it was a better experience overall on hard. I don't like to just trash all over games. The game has good moments and is by far a horrible product so I don't like to make it seem like it is

Its easy to do when you ignore all the games MANY issues.
Seems like a cult classic or maybe more than cult as I see a lot of praise from users online. The critics on the other hands were rather mixed

One of the few modern games I really want to play. I dont care if its only "okay" as a "game", it looks so creative and fun.

Thank you, this video is freaking awesome!!!
this may seem like a specific question but why the quotes on the game titles

Parasite Eve is incredible!
I'd only ever seen the title and cover art for this game, so I never knew what to expect. Gotta say, this really makes it seem worth checking out
Thank you!

She talks about all of that in the video…

I'm honestly hoping for a sequel to this game. I can see it now:
Ghostwire: Cleveland
Should've guessed from the thumbnail that this would be a "Japan is amazing" type of person.
I'm surprised you didn't figure that out just by looking at her profile picture
Having this only on PS5 and PC is what will hold it back from getting the recognition it deserves ☹️
The visuals, story and style are cool. But the combat seemed pretty basic to me. They surely could have made it better. Still a good game tough. The atmosphere saves it.
It's quite repetitive, and enemy variety is lacking, they could've made the game much more linear cuz the "open world" on this game doesn't work.

Tell me you haven’t played a Bethesda game.

That one kappa down in the sewer that had more or less created a memory-haven made my heart stop for a moment, it was _beautiful._

Yep....Whitelight nailed it basically.

I'd buy vr for this
Tokyo is like my second home.
"Hexen and Heretic" Ah shit, sold in three words.
Am I the only one that watches Sphere’s videos just because her voice is super soothing?
Correct me if I’m wrong but.. have you ever played or talked about The Evil Within? Part 1 in particular! Seeing how you love survival horror and Shinji Mikami. I would love to know your opinion on that game.
Yes please! EW1 was okay but still had potential. EW2 was vastly improved! Loved EW2!
you’re in luck
Your review has made me confident that I made the right decision pre-ordering this game, and makes me really glad that I recently got a new PC.
watch gamestar review about the game they have 1,4mio abo and said the game is totally bad combat system feels shit , the monster has not much different that means in the lategame u see the same monster but with more power ,,,, and the open world is totally empty ,,,,, she get paid to say its a good game because its not but feel free to pay 60$ ,,,,
I would argue that pre ordering a game is never the right decision. Even if a game would turn out to be good.
@Muh Saku not only suzi some of them try to make money a lot of small youtuber accept this payments or deal and a youtube channel like Gamestar with 1,4mio Abos not need the money + this guys tell the true ...... as you can see she got a deal or why she can play this game before the game released? So she talk only about positive stuff and get money thats how it is in youtube but this game is not worth 60$ is a scamm to the community
@Muh Saku good for you but in my eyes she is paid !
"Think Heretic or Hexen..."
*Instantly runs to buy on Steam*
It's not scary and it's also not fun enough to be an action game
the thing i love the most is its encyclopedia of the japanese folklore and its atmosphere.
Underrated comment
Ghost wire :
Texas, Shanghai, Mumbai, Paris etc etc
The choices are endless !

BEST REVIEW EVER
This will probably be a sleeper hit if anything. It's a unique mix of horror, action and shoot'em up it looks like. It looks cool. Wish I had a PS5!
Such a good review! I can't wait for my copy to arrive on Friday!!
