And ppl tend to forget what a pile of crap new vegas and each of its subsequent DLCs were at launch. I still have no good memories of Fallout NV. The Vegas strip was an empty disappointment for being the location the game supposedly centers around.

59:40 Ohohoho, Sandra Dorsett is not paranoid about the gang, she's paranoid about the corpo that sent them after her. She doesn't even fully remember the gang anyway (according to T Bug when you rescue her), but if you manage to decrypt her data bank, and select the right dialogue option afterwards, she hints at a MUCH larger conspiracy running throughout the game, related to the Peralez storyline and the things Gary the Prophet rants about. I'm playing through it again partially to capture all of those hints in a video, but a good starting place is to listen to Gary.
thats not the only mistake she makes. River is not a P. E., you cannot visit other megabuildings and i only watched until she mentioned the Perez Quest because i am currently doing it and do not want it spoiled so i will finish it later

I would like to add , as a person who has worked in the QA field for years, I speak from my personal experience when I say that it is VERY likely that ALL of these ugly, experience ruining bugs were found by the QA team that worked on Cyberpunk 2077 - and even more likely, the developers (grudgingly mind you!!!) had, or rather were *forced*, to bounce them back as 'working as intended' to meet the insane deadline their upper management set. 'As long as it doesn't brick their console or prevent the game from being completed its fine!' is the mentality a lot of publishers, investors, etc have about this kind of product. They usually don't care, they take no pride in the game experience they've sunk their funds into. They just want that surge of sales to meet their bottom line on the 'investment' they made. Whenever this happens it is a genuinely miserable experience for both the people developing the game and those that have to test it. To put in that much work only to see problems they found go ignored. Trust me when I say that at this level of title no one involved directly in the development process sets out to make a bad game on purpose. We all put in our hours, often times enduring grueling amounts of OT (or 'crunch' as its more popularly known as), like its a death march all the way up to release and as Sphere Hunter said in the video it doesn't Stop just because the game has launched. We all want to see the games we work on succeed. We want to be proud of the product we helped create as a group, no matter how big or small our part in it. For me, that is what makes reviews of Cyberpunk 2077 so painful to look at. I've had similar experiences with AAA disaster launches and I can understand fully what those people are currently going through. If you want to blame anyone, blame the assholes at the top who likely jerked around the devs, QA, and everyone else involved. As they say, shit rolls down hill. All we can do is try to stay afloat, or find a different career path (as I have done.)

Yeah, CDPR is at least not trying to blame them (even though they pretend like some of this stuff "wasn't caught"). Fine, whatever. At the end of the day the lawsuits hurt everyone, and you can only blame management for a corporate suit. They have to take responsibility; especially since they promised it was playable on PS4/XB1 and then lead investors (not just the fans) on for several months. Imagine if Corpo V could've been an inside man during the heist due to their background. The devs could have shown us Arasaka treating people like shit and turning V against them before the heist.
Corpo V definitely feels like the life path with the most potential to me if they decide to expand on life paths as a whole. Your history with Jackie or your relationship with Jenkins for instance and it seems like V was quite good at their job with a few successful operations under their belt. Would have liked to see the how Jackie and V met or some of V's family. At the very least they should have made it possible to go after Abernathy in War Pigs

You can call Jackie again after certain points in the story and V will discuss what was happening, and V will also say goodbye to Jackie just before doing the ending
I saw that too. I did "NOT" cry because it reminded me of when I did the same thing after my cousin, who was My own broder and partner in crime died a few years back. I am "Not" shedding a tear right now thinking about it too lol.
Jackie is also still alive technically. If you play Death Stranding, apparently the spirit of Jackie ended up in that world and actually helped Sam on some of his quests, and left the mail about his past in Cyberpunk 2077 with V.

Sorry for the essay, but from both ways it played out, Judy gets shallow vengence on Wood for Evelin, and most things stay the same (Work with Maiko); In the (Stick to Judy plan), you create a reason for the Arasaka backed Tiger Claws to come back with a vengeance against Judy and the dolls, and possibly the Mox for good measure. When you consider that Judy leaves NC in a few months to a year depending on the ending, that means the situation is where the catalyst for revolution is gone, and those who just wanted to try and live (the dolls) are now facing the brunt of the repercussions for the actions driven by someone else. Which, if history has taught me anything, that those who want power (Arasaka and Tiger Claws for this matter) over others, will always react with an excessive reaction to make sure that the loss of those rebelling against you is worse that any gain in freedom, power, or happiness. The plot ended on what felt like Judy making another fatal mistake, the type that she is prone to (not thinking things through all the way). That mistake is failings to understand that war always begins when you want it to, but never ends when you want it to. She met her objective, but did not create a system to secure that objective past her leadership. To make sure that retaliation was not only profitless, but unnecessary for the opposite belligerents. That it was easier, more profitable, more comfortable, and probably a positive incentive for the tiger claws to look at the dolls and be like "You ain't worth my time, have fun". So yeah, in writing? Agree fully. But in "happy ending" means? Fuck no. In fact it left off at barely the beginning.
The worst thing about this game is the fact that every character I ran into I loved. Johnny, Kerry, Panam, Judy, Jackie and so many more. The reason I hate this is that you have to go through so much jank to get to these beautiful moments. This is the first piece of media that left me with that "feeling" Cowboy Bebop did and it's shame that I can bring myself to experience this again because of the gameplay. I really hope they fix this.
I think they should've just said "fuck it" and scaled things down. You don't need a massive world to have a "living, breathing city". I remember being outright stunned at Deus Ex: Human Revolution's one city block hub. There was so much to do in so little a space. Hell, the Yakuza games excel at this: you're only given access to like ten blocks worth of Kamurocho, but every square inch there's something to do. Finally, as much as I appreciate an empty open world you can explore and discover a story told entirely by the set dressing, I feel like a combination of Night City's busy visuals, horrible driving, and extremely codependent fixers who ring you up at inopportune times all prevented me from just exploring the city and getting to know it. I didn't even know about that hotel, much less the Roy Batty easter egg on its rooftop. I don't even have a fucking clue if I passed by that hotel in my two playthroughs.
@@romxxii That isn't as easy as you think since usually you make the massive city and then fill it up and a lot of mechanics are designed to work with each other so redoing that is very hard. With the massive amount of money spend on marketing already and the pressure enormous they really just didn't have time to reengineer it. Some games though keep that in mind and have a more step-by-step approach. The Yakuza games especially focus on this. Most of the assets are constantly reused but if you change some textures and most importantly change the context in where those assets appear you can actually get away with a lot of that. Also because every Yakuza game is pretty much just an expansion on the same framework if something goes wrong they can just scale back as they still have that base game to fall back on.
I was lucky enough to get an xbox series x so I have no idea why anyone hates this game. It's amazing in almost every way. This is what the future of gaming holds for us. Hopefully every game has massive detailed open worlds like this.
@@MrMarinus18 They did totally redesign Yakuza's gameplay for Like a Dragon though, and I think it's vastly improved the combat. Holy shit was that game so much more fulfilling and emotionally powerful than Cyberpunk 2077.

It would've fit the kinda pre cyberpunk themes MGS2 had. I am sorry for going into an MGS rant. Cyberpunk's lore really neat...been reading the player's book on it.
I hope this doesn't sound creepy but your voice is really smoothing for these reviews and when you talk. It kind of draws me in your videos and it's full of emotion when you describe different things. I found myself engaged.
I feel like the ads in this game capture the "nightmare megacorpo" marketing EXTREMELY well. Wether is the ad for the insurance loans or cyberware or the not so safe for work ads, i feel like they're intentionally trying to make civilians (consumers) feel like they're left out or missing on something. The ads want to grab your attention, make you feel like you NEEEED whatever they're advertising. You're not good enough without it. You won't be popular, you won't be cool, you won't be rich, you won't be happy, you won't be s a f e, not without whatever they're advertising. I just think that the world of Night City and atmosphere is really awesome. Not to mention the music! The radio stations and popular stuff that you can find people listening to captures the whole vibe of the city and of the people listening to it.

I like what Bugsnax did though where they took a negative line and did the journalist thing and removed all the negative words to make it sound super positive, generally showing how easy it is to fake awards and such (Bugsnax is a good game, the journalist was just salty)
Over 200 awards, and over 200 (Day ONE) bugs/glitches I ran into within the first few hours of playing this shit on my PS4. Glad I just got my PS5 back then. It played a lot better there. And even better on my PC version. Still had bugs though. Smh
There's no schools, banks, barbers, etc. There's basically no interactivity with bars, night clubs or strip clubs. After doing side quests there's almost nothing to do except grind gigs and ncpd missions. But at that point you're already max level with maxed out equipment

Interestingly Keanu's most famous roles so far are Neo in Matrix, John Wick, and Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk. Both Matrix and Cyberpunk take place in a future dystopian world and all three roles put him in a character who rebels against something.

I also have yet to see anybody dwelling more into the phone. Everyone seems to stop at "you can't decline a call and that sucks" whereas in fact the phone is a broken mess all the way through. The contact list is humongous, 95% of these contacts have absolutely nothing to say except for one or two story points and it makes no sense to call them at your own leisure. They're not even arranged in full alphabetical order for Christ's sake (and the fact that most of them don't have photo avatars means that you'll struggle to remember which asshole is which). Moreover, if you call someone by mistake, you can't cancel the connection until it's finished. You choose the same dialogue option again? Tough luck, no way to skip these bits, you gotta listen to them all. And if you ever happen to call Saul then it's even better because there's no freaking option to hang up on him until after you've heard his story of Santiago. At least it wasn't patched the last time I tried.
@@yarpen26 oh wow, i didn't realize just how badly I overlooked the flaws of the cellphone system. I have no Real friends IRL which made me more than happy to take everyone's phone calls. Also I accidentally intentionally did all the Delamain missions in one session because I thought that was part of the main campaign, so I never experienced the "phone calls are annoying" situation that every post-fiasco reviewer brings up.

meta roleplay feels about a company making you _and_ their employees feel bad at the same time. actually artful roleplay masterpiece? hm, maybe a single reviewer, who also happens to like indie artsy experiences in general, like petscop, would give it a 10/10 because of it. I like how one employee in 1:11:15 honestly asked about it and management's answer was vague. like, in a very small chance conspiracy theory, it could have been that.
I come back to watch this video once a month. It's easily the best review I've ever witnessed for this game - a perfectly blend of comfort, articulation, critical analysis, historical genre based knowledge, a ton of fun, with an evidently intelligent and joyful delivery and essay based approach.
@@karlobasil8493 I've started playing it on regular PS4 after patch 1.2 and, while still and probably always having a lot of issues, it's absolutely playable now. Most game breaking glitches have been patched so it's mostly blurry textures and empty streets that can be annoying. But the awesome story pulls you in, so it's easy to simply ignore the bugs and glitches that are still there. Patch 1.22 came out just yesterday so they're constantly improving it.

I agree that the street cred system needs to be more meaningful, just like the gangs and factions in general. But, I think part of the issue you were describing is just the name of it. You get it even just for doing the police missions because it's more of just a general badassery rep meter. You wreck people, it goes up, because you survived and those gang members didn't, and everyone knows about it. I mean, in Night City, the police are just another private corp.
True. Street Cred isn't your credibility with gangs. it's your credibility with the underworld, as a merc. Fixers are not about to offer a contract to a two-bit goon who's either gonna book it or eat it when things go south (Look at what happened to Dex when he did). And blasting a dozen or so gangbangers by yourself is a way to prove you can handle yourself in dicey situations, which is what fixers are looking for in a merc.

I got the PS4 version of Cyberpunk for Christmas; I asked for it before anyone knew what a technical mess it is. I hope the devs can save Cyberpunk because watching your review makes me want to play it...just not in its current state.
I played it on base ps4.... regardless of waht some vids show or some people say , after version 1.2 it was payable till the end , although yes the game would crash like twice for me each 4-7 hours sessions I rarely lost progress due to the autosaving which wasnt so bad nd as long as you are mot expecting an elder scrolls/fallout RPG experience , you will be very satisfied by the game.
Just hope to get a PS5 and then play your disc on that. I've seen the "patched" PS4 footage, and it's a fucking ghost town. They "solved" all loading issues by not loading in crowds.
I'm currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 on ps4. Glitches are still present I've had people walk through cars and get stuck in walls but those moments were few and far in between. The game is fun and very enjoyable
I'm honestly still just sad that they didn't really have a good Motoko hair style but had like 20 of the same "half shaved head" hairstyle will slight differences
I was really bummed out about that too, especially when there’s a bike called the Kusanagi. Customization felt really half baked to me, I didn’t like any of the male hairstyles at least females had like one that stuck out to me

I love how the game tears down what kind of person someone like Johnny Silverhand would be like. A Self-destructive narcissistic hypocrite who found one thing to fight for at the cost of everyone and everything else around him. Also, for someone who hates the uber-powerful megacorps for trodding on the powerless, he treats prostitutes, i.e. the most abused, powerless group in Night City, like street trash. I really hope this game can come together after a year of updates.
@@bocoom Corporate greed has always been ruining major releases, let alone rpgs. Fallout 2 is a perfect example of that and the chronic problem of crunch in every corporate industry. There was never a time where games were sold in finished forms. They were just better at hiding it with lower budgets.
For the sandra dorsett questline there is more. She isnt scared of the scavs but her corp. If you hack the shard you see that it has info on how her corp is brainwashing employees. You can talk to her about it and have more dialogue. If you just hand over the chip without looking at it you leave really soon after completing the job. There are a couple other quests where you can hack datashards to get other story.
How do you hack data shards? Do you have to have a certain Int. that early on in order to hack the shard in the Dorsett quest? I never saw an option pop up. Please elaborate without spoilers, I have stalled my playthrough waiting for patches and I'm want to get the most out of this game. Thank you!

Now, my question is in this example, Sandra Dorsett, must you crack that shard while on that opening mission or do you have time to crack it afterward? I'm assuming until Watson's lock-down is lifted, and you turn the quest in proper. Is that about right? I will presume in some instances it could be different. Cannot believe I missed this! however to be fair I've throttled back my playing primarily deciding to mess around, do some light exploring when the game launch because of the issues. Thanks again. Kinda wild I have 50-ish hours logged in still in Watson, yeah, I'm a slow, savor every detail kinda player. Combine that with photo-mode, I can easily take 2-4X longer than most gamers.
This is one of the many disappointing quest in the game. I feel is is unfinished. I mean there is a hacker girl who found evidence of Night Corp "MK Ultra"-liker projekt, there are cyberpsycho quests in the game, rouge ai-s, braindaces, and that's all. CDPR could write a great questline with all these things get connected, but no. There are low standards. I feel many-many quests ended with no conclusion, unfinished stories, so many things which could be made, and we would get many deep quests. But except some questlines, I feel many of them was hastly written and shallow, but they had more potential.
If you read her different log shards around her partment, it gives a lot more info on it too. Her corp send the scavs after her to shut her up. She knew too much.
Johnny Silverhand the 30 year old rockerboy played by Keanu who's in his 50s make him the only "30 year old" that looks like he's 50 in a world where "50 year olds" all look like they are 30. Life battling Arasaka must be hard

Johnny's entire old crew, including that alcoholic dude Terry or w/e looks 40 at most. maybe they just got lazy and forgot Keanu Reeves used to be a hot stud in the 90s and they can just cgi his young face with motion capture which would be easier since they could skip that gruffy beard

There actually is an expanded conversation with Sandra Dorsette where you can learn more about her, but you have to do something invasive and choose the right options to shed more light on her.

@@cezarjulian0320 when you pick up her data pad, you have the opportunity to decode it, do that. When she asks you if her data is secure, be honest and tell her you went through it. Some conversation happens and she'll ask you what you're going to do now. If you're tech is high enough, an option using tech comes up, it'll be along the lines of "I wanna congratulate you" then you'll find out more about her and make a friend. She'll also pay you more.
The fact that you did a recreation of the absolutely *ICONIC* Akira poster warms my heart. Edit to add: Female V's voice actress is also Makoto in Persona 5, which is another reason to love her.
I'm pretty eager to see the sequel to this video, since it was the video that convinced me to get cyberpunk 2077, I waited a year after this to buy it, and it's been a blast, I really liked it and I feel bad that this whole thing probably soured the opinion of many to it and they'll never play it because of it.

Heyyyy Stella~ ;p Excellent cameo. I'll paint the scene, I walk up to this parked car and notice this strange voice call out to me, I peek in and see stella doing her thing.. I start to walk around the car thinking 'okay.. this is gonna be interestin---" and freeze and turn like a statue to stare back at stella through the windshield just now piecing it together. I then begin to leer a bit as I try to get closer in the classic 'did I see that right' which matched with Stella's uneasy nervous stare at me through the windows of the car. It wasn't till I sat down in the car and heard the voice once more, I knew I wasn't just seeing it. I hope to hear more about your experience working with them in the future. Loads of fun I can imagine.
honestly, this was a really good video. i really liked that instead of getting caught up in all the shortcomings or broken promises of the marketing materials, you were able to show the points where the game shined the best. in the first couple of hours i couldn't enjoy the game one bit. but after i got the title card, it slowly started to turn into something special. endings were great, too. i never realized how much invested i'd become until the credits started rolling. i'm still craving for more and really want to jump back into it but i just don't want to get bored before it receives the patches. anyways, thank you. really good work.
Just want to point out the shortcomings and broken promises aren't just something to get caught up on. They're very serious, hence why CDPR has multiple lawsuits and an government investigation on their hands. It's all good to appreciate areas of quality where you see it, but just because something is still good does not negate issues with honesty & transparency. Still, to your point, every video about CP2077 doesn't need to be the "broken promises show". Basically, I agree with your stance but I hope you aren't being too dismissive of those shortcomings.
@@sirebellum0 yeah, i agree completely. i'm still especially bitter about many things that should've been in the game and all the lies that got spewed out by the management before release. the stance they are taking feels extremely wrong, too. it feels like they are actively working to stop anyone from saying good things about their game. that apology video with the roadmap and adam badowski's dumb takes on his personal twitter page are making me lose hope on the game more than anything. i'd like to think that they can turn the general consensus on the game from "buggy mess" to "enjoyable" at least, but they're still finding ways to make that difficult for themselves, even after the release. however, i would be lying if i said i didn't enjoy the whole experience. it's nice to see videos like this one once in a while. the game still has great potential, i hope cdpr doesn't try to pack it up and move on to other things rather than fixing and properly polishing it but it feels that's gonna be the case at this point.
My opinion is surprisingly absolutely agree with yours. I would also add that in my life I already had a surprisingly similar wholesale with Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Same problems, similar story. Great game.

A thing is Fallout: New Vegas and V:MTB were great RPGs. This game is behind GTA 3 in making open world and RPG aspect is on the thread of not existing. This game doesn't need love, it needs a grave.
I like the way you read the dialogue. It's got a tenor similar to a conversation in a coffee shop, not the typical news anchor trope I hear on a lot of these podcasts.

The story and the Characters are the best thing in this game. The characters are some of the best written, designed and voice acted I'd experienced in a long time. Love them all but I gotta say Kerry and Judy are my fav.

Too bad in cyberpunk you can't really sit anywhere... Unless you are in a story mission. Some of the decisions that were made in this game I can never understand. Simple things that could have done wonders to the immersion of an already beautiful environment, such lot opportunities. Can't buy food from vendors, can't sit down anywhere really except in your apartment in free roam. It's a real damn shame really because those simple things could have been cool to have in the game.

Probably the most comprehensive and fair review I've seen. Theres alot in the game that's in need of fixing, but CDPR nailed the tone, look, storytelling, and certain elements of gameplay. Its just clearly evident that some parts were hashed together and rushed along. I think your mileage with this game is very dependent on how much the story and characters connect with you, as that's easily the most well executed part of it. Also if you are lucky with bugginess, as it seems to hit very randomly (i had very few, for example).
Yeah same here. It feels like everyone is being, for lack of a better word, blinded by all the BS surrounding the development of this game. Stepping away from all that and focusing on the actual game was a breath of fresh air.
@@tenacityxl i understand it, its a product of all the marketing of these triple AAA games being overblown and mismanaged. Also the fact that CDPR was supposedly 'above' all that. People feel betrayed and I understand. But, take away the hype and all the BS and CP77 at least by my standard, was an enjoyable experience. Not complete and lacking in areas, but enjoyable.
That was one of the strongest scenes yet. I wish I had more information if they were just cutting the bd's or also shooting or choosing the victims. Yeah of course they are scum who cut it, but are they responsible for the whole thing enough to deserve being executed by me? The father is definitely a sick pervert though who pulled his own son into this terrible thing so he had to go. Would be "nice" if I met his deranged son later on a path of the revenge or his father if I executed the son.

Fun fact (and spoiler regarding Jackie): After he dies in the prologue/big heist if you choose to send him to a ripper doc (I figured maybe he could still be saved) instead of back to his family, Arasaka come for his body in the hopes of finding the chip and end up soul ripping his psyche and you can find this fucked up and seemingly broken/looping version of Jackie in Mikoshi. The dialogue from V and knowing what happens to those all those trapped psyches after the ending was just the most depressing thing to think about for me lol.
No, Jackie's psyche was corrupted because he was already a few hours dead. Some of his brain cells, which make up Jackie and his memories, were probably already dead, and so it's either a miracle or ingenious that Arasaka has been able to even upload what was left of him. I don't believe Jackie's psyche is how most engrams end up as, because the original person has to be alive for the engram to be a full copy of the person's mind. Arasaka originally used soulkiller and mikoshi as a torturing place for these souls to get information out of them, so it's important that they're complete. If you're referring to V signing the contract for his mind to be uploaded, I think the fear stems from how he will be at Arasaka's mercy or whim and that he has no complete control after that (instead of how he'll become like Jackie). Imagine how you're waiting for a long time to be given a compatible body, and you're not sure if Arasaka changes leadership or their minds of how they'll think about you. You're not sure what happens in the future. They can just delete you as if you're just a folder in a computer.
One of the big issue I had with V’s motivation was that he/she really don’t or should have any grudge against Arasaka at all. Besides maybe starting out as a corpo, V shouldn’t have any vendetta against them. Sure, your partner who you have known for roughly two hour dies in a heist against them, but they did what they do when some gangbangers tries to steal high tech under their thumb. So when Johnny comes out saying fuck corpos and Arasaka especially, I can’t help but feel outcasted from this revenge tale that I am not involved with, but rather dragged into forcefully. If they made V transition into street merc into 5 hour gameplay, with some twists and turns depending on your life path, bond with Jackie through gameplay rather than 30 second montage reel, I would have felt more engaged to V’s struggle. Edit: Also, if they added more interaction with Arasaka in that extra five hour gameplay, give an actual reason to personally hate as V, as well as a player controlling V, it would make it lot more compelling. For example, if you are a nomad, Arasaka actively tries to ‘buy out’ your clan, only to betray them and kill your clan member/family. Street kid can actively watch as mega corpos ruin your life and people’s around you, while corpo V will be haunted by Arasaka agents, continuously having to do their bidding against your will. Although slightly different in reason, each three V will have the motivation to give Arasaka a big ol’ fuck you, and join the heist accordingly. So when you fail the heist against Arasaka, after careful planning and trustworthy companions with you, you really feel like a nobody against a corporate overlord in this uncaring, cruel, pitiless world that is Night City. And when you meet Johnny, you will be more inclined to take up Johnny’s offer to sell your identity for his assistance in revenge, while also solidify V’s motivation to BE someone who everyone remembers.
I also felt disconnected from V's story and struggle. Unlike Geralt, who has the easily identifiable motivation of reuniting with his loved ones, V wants to...be someone? A motivation I had hardly gleaned before he just spills his guts in Cloud and one I certainly don't identify with myself. This is all in addition to what you stated above.

You are so desperate to stay alive that you are willing to remove your physical existence to have a CHANCE at living, fulling knowing you are making a deal with a corporation that screwed you over for so long. Imagine how that ending would feel if you had longer, more spiteful history with Arasaka.
I can understand your point in wanting more but not really in regards to connecting with V. I had no trouble in connecting with them and diving into battle with Arasaka. We pretty much knew they was an corrupt organization from the start. The poor have to fight tooth and nail just to survive while the reach lives without a care in the world.

"Wait a year" was exactly my thought about trying this game out. These days, it's smarter to at least give the developers a chance to make the game they wanted to make, rather than the one they were pressured to put out on the market. 'No Man's Sky' is an excellent example of this working out pretty nicely for anyone willing to give it a second chance.
I hate people comparing this to NMS. This game is buggy (on my pc it was as buggy as any other open world) and some content was cut off but it's still a complete game and a fully realized world. NMS on the other hand was the emptiest universe ever, there was just absolutely nothing to do except mine materials so you could mine more materials.

And ppl tend to forget what a pile of crap new vegas and each of its subsequent DLCs were at launch. I still have no good memories of Fallout NV. The Vegas strip was an empty disappointment for being the location the game supposedly centers around.

Ohohoho, Sandra Dorsett is not paranoid about the gang, she's paranoid about the corpo that sent them after her. She doesn't even fully remember the gang anyway (according to T Bug when you rescue her), but if you manage to decrypt her data bank, and select the right dialogue option afterwards, she hints at a MUCH larger conspiracy running throughout the game, related to the Peralez storyline and the things Gary the Prophet rants about.
I'm playing through it again partially to capture all of those hints in a video, but a good starting place is to listen to Gary.
Some of those gary conversations are possibly tied to side jobs or gigs
thats not the only mistake she makes. River is not a P. E., you cannot visit other megabuildings and i only watched until she mentioned the Perez Quest because i am currently doing it and do not want it spoiled so i will finish it later

I would like to add , as a person who has worked in the QA field for years, I speak from my personal experience when I say that it is VERY likely that ALL of these ugly, experience ruining bugs were found by the QA team that worked on Cyberpunk 2077 - and even more likely, the developers (grudgingly mind you!!!) had, or rather were *forced*, to bounce them back as 'working as intended' to meet the insane deadline their upper management set. 'As long as it doesn't brick their console or prevent the game from being completed its fine!' is the mentality a lot of publishers, investors, etc have about this kind of product. They usually don't care, they take no pride in the game experience they've sunk their funds into. They just want that surge of sales to meet their bottom line on the 'investment' they made.
Whenever this happens it is a genuinely miserable experience for both the people developing the game and those that have to test it. To put in that much work only to see problems they found go ignored. Trust me when I say that at this level of title no one involved directly in the development process sets out to make a bad game on purpose. We all put in our hours, often times enduring grueling amounts of OT (or 'crunch' as its more popularly known as), like its a death march all the way up to release and as Sphere Hunter said in the video it doesn't Stop just because the game has launched. We all want to see the games we work on succeed. We want to be proud of the product we helped create as a group, no matter how big or small our part in it.
For me, that is what makes reviews of Cyberpunk 2077 so painful to look at. I've had similar experiences with AAA disaster launches and I can understand fully what those people are currently going through. If you want to blame anyone, blame the assholes at the top who likely jerked around the devs, QA, and everyone else involved. As they say, shit rolls down hill. All we can do is try to stay afloat, or find a different career path (as I have done.)

Yeah, CDPR is at least not trying to blame them (even though they pretend like some of this stuff "wasn't caught"). Fine, whatever. At the end of the day the lawsuits hurt everyone, and you can only blame management for a corporate suit. They have to take responsibility; especially since they promised it was playable on PS4/XB1 and then lead investors (not just the fans) on for several months. We all know they deserve to be punished for this, and I'm glad generally very few people have tried to defend that.

Corpo V definitely feels like the life path with the most potential to me if they decide to expand on life paths as a whole. Your history with Jackie or your relationship with Jenkins for instance and it seems like V was quite good at their job with a few successful operations under their belt. Would have liked to see the how Jackie and V met or some of V's family. At the very least they should have made it possible to go after Abernathy in War Pigs

Jackie is also still alive technically. If you play Death Stranding, apparently the spirit of Jackie ended up in that world and actually helped Sam on some of his quests, and left the mail about his past in Cyberpunk 2077 with V.

1:11:30 Correction: Full time development began in 2016. The development began in 2012 with small crew building lore, city, setting, research etc. Most of it was abandoned though in 2016 because of managment decision.
Probably why the tone of the game feels way more dark in that teaser trailer compared to the final game.

Sorry for the essay, but from both ways it played out, Judy gets shallow vengence on Wood for Evelin, and most things stay the same (Work with Maiko); In the (Stick to Judy plan), you create a reason for the Arasaka backed Tiger Claws to come back with a vengeance against Judy and the dolls, and possibly the Mox for good measure.
When you consider that Judy leaves NC in a few months to a year depending on the ending, that means the situation is where the catalyst for revolution is gone, and those who just wanted to try and live (the dolls) are now facing the brunt of the repercussions for the actions driven by someone else. Which, if history has taught me anything, that those who want power (Arasaka and Tiger Claws for this matter) over others, will always react with an excessive reaction to make sure that the loss of those rebelling against you is worse that any gain in freedom, power, or happiness.
The plot ended on what felt like Judy making another fatal mistake, the type that she is prone to (not thinking things through all the way). That mistake is failings to understand that war always begins when you want it to, but never ends when you want it to. She met her objective, but did not create a system to secure that objective past her leadership. To make sure that retaliation was not only profitless, but unnecessary for the opposite belligerents. That it was easier, more profitable, more comfortable, and probably a positive incentive for the tiger claws to look at the dolls and be like "You ain't worth my time, have fun".
So yeah, in writing? Agree fully. But in "happy ending" means? Fuck no. In fact it left off at barely the beginning.

The worst thing about this game is the fact that every character I ran into I loved. Johnny, Kerry, Panam, Judy, Jackie and so many more. The reason I hate this is that you have to go through so much jank to get to these beautiful moments. This is the first piece of media that left me with that "feeling" Cowboy Bebop did and it's shame that I can bring myself to experience this again because of the gameplay. I really hope they fix this.
I think they should've just said "fuck it" and scaled things down. You don't need a massive world to have a "living, breathing city". I remember being outright stunned at Deus Ex: Human Revolution's one city block hub. There was so much to do in so little a space. Hell, the Yakuza games excel at this: you're only given access to like ten blocks worth of Kamurocho, but every square inch there's something to do.
Finally, as much as I appreciate an empty open world you can explore and discover a story told entirely by the set dressing, I feel like a combination of Night City's busy visuals, horrible driving, and extremely codependent fixers who ring you up at inopportune times all prevented me from just exploring the city and getting to know it. I didn't even know about that hotel, much less the Roy Batty easter egg on its rooftop. I don't even have a fucking clue if I passed by that hotel in my two playthroughs.

@@romxxii That isn't as easy as you think since usually you make the massive city and then fill it up and a lot of mechanics are designed to work with each other so redoing that is very hard. With the massive amount of money spend on marketing already and the pressure enormous they really just didn't have time to reengineer it.
Some games though keep that in mind and have a more step-by-step approach. The Yakuza games especially focus on this. Most of the assets are constantly reused but if you change some textures and most importantly change the context in where those assets appear you can actually get away with a lot of that. Also because every Yakuza game is pretty much just an expansion on the same framework if something goes wrong they can just scale back as they still have that base game to fall back on.
I was lucky enough to get an xbox series x so I have no idea why anyone hates this game. It's amazing in almost every way. This is what the future of gaming holds for us. Hopefully every game has massive detailed open worlds like this.
@@MrMarinus18 They did totally redesign Yakuza's gameplay for Like a Dragon though, and I think it's vastly improved the combat. Holy shit was that game so much more fulfilling and emotionally powerful than Cyberpunk 2077.

I feel like the ads in this game capture the "nightmare megacorpo" marketing EXTREMELY well. Wether is the ad for the insurance loans or cyberware or the not so safe for work ads, i feel like they're intentionally trying to make civilians (consumers) feel like they're left out or missing on something. The ads want to grab your attention, make you feel like you NEEEED whatever they're advertising. You're not good enough without it. You won't be popular, you won't be cool, you won't be rich, you won't be happy, you won't be s a f e, not without whatever they're advertising. I just think that the world of Night City and atmosphere is really awesome. Not to mention the music! The radio stations and popular stuff that you can find people listening to captures the whole vibe of the city and of the people listening to it.

Over 200 awards, and over 200 (Day ONE) bugs/glitches I ran into within the first few hours of playing this shit on my PS4. Glad I just got my PS5 back then. It played a lot better there. And even better on my PC version. Still had bugs though. Smh
There's no schools, banks, barbers, etc. There's basically no interactivity with bars, night clubs or strip clubs. After doing side quests there's almost nothing to do except grind gigs and ncpd missions. But at that point you're already max level with maxed out equipment

I also have yet to see anybody dwelling more into the phone. Everyone seems to stop at "you can't decline a call and that sucks" whereas in fact the phone is a broken mess all the way through. The contact list is humongous, 95% of these contacts have absolutely nothing to say except for one or two story points and it makes no sense to call them at your own leisure. They're not even arranged in full alphabetical order for Christ's sake (and the fact that most of them don't have photo avatars means that you'll struggle to remember which asshole is which). Moreover, if you call someone by mistake, you can't cancel the connection until it's finished. You choose the same dialogue option again? Tough luck, no way to skip these bits, you gotta listen to them all. And if you ever happen to call Saul then it's even better because there's no freaking option to hang up on him until after you've heard his story of Santiago. At least it wasn't patched the last time I tried.

I've started playing it on regular PS4 after patch 1.2 and, while still and probably always having a lot of issues, it's absolutely playable now. Most game breaking glitches have been patched so it's mostly blurry textures and empty streets that can be annoying. But the awesome story pulls you in, so it's easy to simply ignore the bugs and glitches that are still there. Patch 1.22 came out just yesterday so they're constantly improving it.

I agree that the street cred system needs to be more meaningful, just like the gangs and factions in general.
But, I think part of the issue you were describing is just the name of it. You get it even just for doing the police missions because it's more of just a general badassery rep meter. You wreck people, it goes up, because you survived and those gang members didn't, and everyone knows about it.
I mean, in Night City, the police are just another private corp.
True. Street Cred isn't your credibility with gangs. it's your credibility with the underworld, as a merc. Fixers are not about to offer a contract to a two-bit goon who's either gonna book it or eat it when things go south (Look at what happened to Dex when he did). And blasting a dozen or so gangbangers by yourself is a way to prove you can handle yourself in dicey situations, which is what fixers are looking for in a merc.
Plot twist: the glitches are just Johnny Silverhand messing with you.

Not only a fun watch but a great review, too. I appreciate how levelheaded your critique was. I got the PS4 version of Cyberpunk for Christmas; I asked for it before anyone knew what a technical mess it is. I hope the devs can save Cyberpunk because watching your review makes me want to play it...just not in its current state.

I played it on base ps4.... regardless of waht some vids show or some people say , after version 1.2 it was payable till the end , although yes the game would crash like twice for me each 4-7 hours sessions I rarely lost progress due to the autosaving which wasnt so bad nd as long as you are mot expecting an elder scrolls/fallout RPG experience , you will be very satisfied by the game.
Just hope to get a PS5 and then play your disc on that. I've seen the "patched" PS4 footage, and it's a fucking ghost town. They "solved" all loading issues by not loading in crowds.
I'm currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 on ps4. Glitches are still present I've had people walk through cars and get stuck in walls but those moments were few and far in between. The game is fun and very enjoyable

I love how the game tears down what kind of person someone like Johnny Silverhand would be like. A Self-destructive narcissistic hypocrite who found one thing to fight for at the cost of everyone and everything else around him. Also, for someone who hates the uber-powerful megacorps for trodding on the powerless, he treats prostitutes, i.e. the most abused, powerless group in Night City, like street trash. I really hope this game can come together after a year of updates.

Corporate greed has always been ruining major releases, let alone rpgs. Fallout 2 is a perfect example of that and the chronic problem of crunch in every corporate industry. There was never a time where games were sold in finished forms. They were just better at hiding it with lower budgets.
For the sandra dorsett questline there is more. She isnt scared of the scavs but her corp. If you hack the shard you see that it has info on how her corp is brainwashing employees. You can talk to her about it and have more dialogue. If you just hand over the chip without looking at it you leave really soon after completing the job. There are a couple other quests where you can hack datashards to get other story.
How do you hack data shards? Do you have to have a certain Int. that early on in order to hack the shard in the Dorsett quest? I never saw an option pop up. Please elaborate without spoilers, I have stalled my playthrough waiting for patches and I'm want to get the most out of this game. Thank you!

Now, my question is in this example, Sandra Dorsett, must you crack that shard while on that opening mission or do you have time to crack it afterward? I'm assuming until Watson's lock-down is lifted, and you turn the quest in proper. Is that about right? I will presume in some instances it could be different.
Cannot believe I missed this! however to be fair I've throttled back my playing primarily deciding to mess around, do some light exploring when the game launch because of the issues. Thanks again. Kinda wild I have 50-ish hours logged in still in Watson, yeah, I'm a slow, savor every detail kinda player. Combine that with photo-mode, I can easily take 2-4X longer than most gamers.
This is one of the many disappointing quest in the game. I feel is is unfinished. I mean there is a hacker girl who found evidence of Night Corp "MK Ultra"-liker projekt, there are cyberpsycho quests in the game, rouge ai-s, braindaces, and that's all. CDPR could write a great questline with all these things get connected, but no. There are low standards. I feel many-many quests ended with no conclusion, unfinished stories, so many things which could be made, and we would get many deep quests. But except some questlines, I feel many of them was hastly written and shallow, but they had more potential.
If you read her different log shards around her partment, it gives a lot more info on it too. Her corp send the scavs after her to shut her up. She knew too much.

@@cezarjulian0320 when you pick up her data pad, you have the opportunity to decode it, do that. When she asks you if her data is secure, be honest and tell her you went through it. Some conversation happens and she'll ask you what you're going to do now. If you're tech is high enough, an option using tech comes up, it'll be along the lines of "I wanna congratulate you" then you'll find out more about her and make a friend. She'll also pay you more.

Excellent cameo. I'll paint the scene, I walk up to this parked car and notice this strange voice call out to me, I peek in and see stella doing her thing.. I start to walk around the car thinking 'okay.. this is gonna be interestin---" and freeze and turn like a statue to stare back at stella through the windshield just now piecing it together. I then begin to leer a bit as I try to get closer in the classic 'did I see that right' which matched with Stella's uneasy nervous stare at me through the windows of the car. It wasn't till I sat down in the car and heard the voice once more, I knew I wasn't just seeing it.

honestly, this was a really good video. i really liked that instead of getting caught up in all the shortcomings or broken promises of the marketing materials, you were able to show the points where the game shined the best. in the first couple of hours i couldn't enjoy the game one bit. but after i got the title card, it slowly started to turn into something special. endings were great, too. i never realized how much invested i'd become until the credits started rolling. i'm still craving for more and really want to jump back into it but i just don't want to get bored before it receives the patches. anyways, thank you. really good work.
Just want to point out the shortcomings and broken promises aren't just something to get caught up on. They're very serious, hence why CDPR has multiple lawsuits and an government investigation on their hands. It's all good to appreciate areas of quality where you see it, but just because something is still good does not negate issues with honesty & transparency. Still, to your point, every video about CP2077 doesn't need to be the "broken promises show". Basically, I agree with your stance but I hope you aren't being too dismissive of those shortcomings.
@@sirebellum0 yeah, i agree completely. i'm still especially bitter about many things that should've been in the game and all the lies that got spewed out by the management before release. the stance they are taking feels extremely wrong, too. it feels like they are actively working to stop anyone from saying good things about their game. that apology video with the roadmap and adam badowski's dumb takes on his personal twitter page are making me lose hope on the game more than anything. i'd like to think that they can turn the general consensus on the game from "buggy mess" to "enjoyable" at least, but they're still finding ways to make that difficult for themselves, even after the release. however, i would be lying if i said i didn't enjoy the whole experience. it's nice to see videos like this one once in a while. the game still has great potential, i hope cdpr doesn't try to pack it up and move on to other things rather than fixing and properly polishing it but it feels that's gonna be the case at this point.

The story and the Characters are the best thing in this game. The characters are some of the best written, designed and voice acted I'd experienced in a long time. Love them all but I gotta say Kerry and Judy are my fav.

Edit: especially at 28:48, the way she connects with a game and their environment, (you xan kinda relate the game to yourself) I loved exploring rdr2 and I found a huge cliff that you can sit on the edge on and I sat there looking at the beautiful landscape and made me think about my future and where I'm gonna end up
Too bad in cyberpunk you can't really sit anywhere... Unless you are in a story mission. Some of the decisions that were made in this game I can never understand. Simple things that could have done wonders to the immersion of an already beautiful environment, such lot opportunities. Can't buy food from vendors, can't sit down anywhere really except in your apartment in free roam. It's a real damn shame really because those simple things could have been cool to have in the game.

Probably the most comprehensive and fair review I've seen. Theres alot in the game that's in need of fixing, but CDPR nailed the tone, look, storytelling, and certain elements of gameplay. Its just clearly evident that some parts were hashed together and rushed along. I think your mileage with this game is very dependent on how much the story and characters connect with you, as that's easily the most well executed part of it. Also if you are lucky with bugginess, as it seems to hit very randomly (i had very few, for example).
Yeah same here. It feels like everyone is being, for lack of a better word, blinded by all the BS surrounding the development of this game. Stepping away from all that and focusing on the actual game was a breath of fresh air.
@@tenacityxl i understand it, its a product of all the marketing of these triple AAA games being overblown and mismanaged. Also the fact that CDPR was supposedly 'above' all that. People feel betrayed and I understand. But, take away the hype and all the BS and CP77 at least by my standard, was an enjoyable experience. Not complete and lacking in areas, but enjoyable.

That was one of the strongest scenes yet. I wish I had more information if they were just cutting the bd's or also shooting or choosing the victims. Yeah of course they are scum who cut it, but are they responsible for the whole thing enough to deserve being executed by me? The father is definitely a sick pervert though who pulled his own son into this terrible thing so he had to go. Would be "nice" if I met his deranged son later on a path of the revenge or his father if I executed the son.

Fun fact (and spoiler regarding Jackie): After he dies in the prologue/big heist if you choose to send him to a ripper doc (I figured maybe he could still be saved) instead of back to his family, Arasaka come for his body in the hopes of finding the chip and end up soul ripping his psyche and you can find this fucked up and seemingly broken/looping version of Jackie in Mikoshi. The dialogue from V and knowing what happens to those all those trapped psyches after the ending was just the most depressing thing to think about for me lol.
No, Jackie's psyche was corrupted because he was already a few hours dead. Some of his brain cells, which make up Jackie and his memories, were probably already dead, and so it's either a miracle or ingenious that Arasaka has been able to even upload what was left of him. I don't believe Jackie's psyche is how most engrams end up as, because the original person has to be alive for the engram to be a full copy of the person's mind. Arasaka originally used soulkiller and mikoshi as a torturing place for these souls to get information out of them, so it's important that they're complete.
If you're referring to V signing the contract for his mind to be uploaded, I think the fear stems from how he will be at Arasaka's mercy or whim and that he has no complete control after that (instead of how he'll become like Jackie). Imagine how you're waiting for a long time to be given a compatible body, and you're not sure if Arasaka changes leadership or their minds of how they'll think about you. You're not sure what happens in the future. They can just delete you as if you're just a folder in a computer.

I love your style! There's so much more to this game than I thought from what little gameplay I'd seen. You just earned a new subscriber!
One of the big issue I had with V’s motivation was that he/she really don’t or should have any grudge against Arasaka at all. Besides maybe starting out as a corpo, V shouldn’t have any vendetta against them. Sure, your partner who you have known for roughly two hour dies in a heist against them, but they did what they do when some gangbangers tries to steal high tech under their thumb. So when Johnny comes out saying fuck corpos and Arasaka especially, I can’t help but feel outcasted from this revenge tale that I am not involved with, but rather dragged into forcefully. If they made V transition into street merc into 5 hour gameplay, with some twists and turns depending on your life path, bond with Jackie through gameplay rather than 30 second montage reel, I would have felt more engaged to V’s struggle.
Edit: Also, if they added more interaction with Arasaka in that extra five hour gameplay, give an actual reason to personally hate as V, as well as a player controlling V, it would make it lot more compelling. For example, if you are a nomad, Arasaka actively tries to ‘buy out’ your clan, only to betray them and kill your clan member/family. Street kid can actively watch as mega corpos ruin your life and people’s around you, while corpo V will be haunted by Arasaka agents, continuously having to do their bidding against your will. Although slightly different in reason, each three V will have the motivation to give Arasaka a big ol’ fuck you, and join the heist accordingly. So when you fail the heist against Arasaka, after careful planning and trustworthy companions with you, you really feel like a nobody against a corporate overlord in this uncaring, cruel, pitiless world that is Night City. And when you meet Johnny, you will be more inclined to take up Johnny’s offer to sell your identity for his assistance in revenge, while also solidify V’s motivation to BE someone who everyone remembers.
I also felt disconnected from V's story and struggle. Unlike Geralt, who has the easily identifiable motivation of reuniting with his loved ones, V wants to...be someone? A motivation I had hardly gleaned before he just spills his guts in Cloud and one I certainly don't identify with myself. This is all in addition to what you stated above.
I'd like to add that there is an ending in which you side with Arasaka.

You are so desperate to stay alive that you are willing to remove your physical existence to have a CHANCE at living, fulling knowing you are making a deal with a corporation that screwed you over for so long. Imagine how that ending would feel if you had longer, more spiteful history with Arasaka.
I can understand your point in wanting more but not really in regards to connecting with V. I had no trouble in connecting with them and diving into battle with Arasaka. We pretty much knew they was an corrupt organization from the start. The poor have to fight tooth and nail just to survive while the reach lives without a care in the world.

I can understand if people don't want to buy the game out of principle or something, but i don't think you should shame others into boycotting the game if they want to see the game succeed and improve. I mean, this situation is awful and I think it's good that CDPR is being sued for misleading advertisement, but I still hope that this game gets better. I got this game as a Christmas gift. The fact that crunch took place is the reason to pirate the game, if you decide to play it at all.
"Wait a year" was exactly my thought about trying this game out. These days, it's smarter to at least give the developers a chance to make the game they wanted to make, rather than the one they were pressured to put out on the market. 'No Man's Sky' is an excellent example of this working out pretty nicely for anyone willing to give it a second chance.

I hate people comparing this to NMS. This game is buggy (on my pc it was as buggy as any other open world) and some content was cut off but it's still a complete game and a fully realized world. NMS on the other hand was the emptiest universe ever, there was just absolutely nothing to do except mine materials so you could mine more materials.
