Love Again is one of my favorite originals! For something recent, I suggest Kiss From a Rose and O Holy Night. You’ll also love Bohemian Rhapsody and all their other “Evolution” videos.
Fabulous reaction! I love how measured you are but you show expression when necessary. I appreciate you taking the time to learn their names. The have evolution songs of Beyonce, Rhianna, and Ariana Grande (probably more). The do a cover of Gold (Kiiara) Cheerleader cover, Thriftshop, Mad World......... So many! You have a huge catalog to dive into. Thank you for LOVING them! I'll be here for all of them.....
I'm so glad you got to this one. Please react to Mary, Did You Know, Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody, Kiss From A Rose, O Holy Night, Say Something, and Come All Ye Faithful. Just subbed ❤
Yeah! You'll learn them. You should do "Can't Hold Us," they can rap. 😂 They also do country, pop, classic rock, gospel, Christmas, Christian music and more!
Your timing on asking for "Dirty Diana" was *amazing* ! 😅. Kevin really has a lovely falsetto, but no one else in PTX can beatbox except for a few very simple patterns, so he doesn't get so many chances. But he has a few great solos, for example, Mary Did You Know, Imagine, and Amazing Grace. He also plays the cello, and you will hear/see that in a few of the videos as well.
In addition to deciding which songs to use, these Evolution videos are done all in ONE TAKE!! No cuts, no editing together, straight through in one take! They will record 3 or 4 versions and then decide which one is the best!
Someone may have already mentioned it but Kevin plays cello and beatboxes simultaneously. He calls it celloboxing. Kiss From A Rose, a live Vevo performance, really demonstrates it. Thanks for reacting to PTX! Subbing for more.
Yes, I was going to recommend this. It is a great one to react to because it’s a live recording, an excellent example of celloboxing, it is a nice way to see what they are doing now (end of 2023, anyway), since I think Evolution of MJ was 2016, and it’s a great intro to the lovely capabilities of Matt as both bass and soloist, (since you’ve only heard the amazing Avi so far). Regarding other Evolutions, I’m still waiting for a reactor to take me up on the recommendation of a double reaction to PTX Evolution of Rihanna, and Superfruit’s Rihanna Anti Medley. Superfruit was a side project of just Mitch and Scott from PTX. They had a weekly vlog where they did parodies, humor, games, and musical covers and collaborations. Their Superfruit project culminated in a fully original EP called Future Friends that has a full-on music video for every song (one even has two official videos! One animated and one not). Every song is fantastic! All the members also have incredible solo side projects. Mitch’s are under the name Messer. This rabbit hole has so many side journeys! PTX as a whole have covers, collaborations, tv and movie songs and cameos, a giant Christmas catalog, and wonderful original music. One reactor has done about 300 PTX and PTX related videos! Don’t get overwhelmed though, you’ve got us now. I enjoy your commentary and interest in the group! Great reaction!
Lots of people listen to them and their vocals on this one but this only reminds me of how many hits Michael Jackson literally has - not even included all of them it’s absolutely wild. And they’re hits to this day! So ahead of his time! Mike would definitely LOVE this, greetings from Germany - huge MJ Fan here!
Pentatonixs cover of "Radioactive" featuring Lindsey Sterling is amazing. You'll also start bringing in the Lindsey fans too, as she has been an incredible inspiration for bringing the 'classic' instruments, like Kevins cello, into modern music.
You have a great memory. You remembered their names so fast. Try watching Daft Punk next. They made the video themselves in Avi's closet and Kitchen for about 400USD and it won them their first Grammy
Avi left the group in 2017 and Matt is the new bass since 2018. I’ve been blessed enough to see them live 3 times and I definitely recommend seeing them live if you get the chance. They have done evolutions of Beyoncé, aAriana Grande, Rhiana and Music itself. One of my all time favorites is their cover of Amazing Grace. Can’t wait to see more reactions ❤❤
Additional PTX jargon for your lexicon: Pentatonix came to prominence when they won the Sing Off in 2011 and during their time on the show, one of the judges (Shawn Stockton from Boyz II Men) dubbed Avi & Kevin “meat & potatoes” - they’re all amazing but Kevin & Avi (& now Matt) are the foundation of all their brilliant arrangements. You’re so lucky discovering Pentatonix before the holiday season, their Christmas music is PHENOMENAL like everything else they do. Happy to go on this journey with you.
You would not believe how appreciative pentaholics are when a reactor gets all of the names correctly. The hardest name for most to get right is Kirstin, but you nailed it. One small minor correction if I may, Avi is pronounced AH-vee. There is something distinctive and substantial about Kirstin’s voice where, I find, gives a lot of weight and fullness to their sound. She had a lead in Kinky Boots on Broadway in between PTX projects. She is my personal favorite, but all of them are favorite worthy. Recommend Todrick Hall’s Wizard Of Ahhs featuring Pentatonix. Kirstin plays Dorothy, and both witches.
Three of the evolution videos they have done are of Rhianna, Beyonce, Ariana Grande. They are all amazing. Glad you are going to continue the PTX journey.
There's also "The Evolution of Pentatonix," though it isn't an official release but something they do live. It includes a bit of Mitch's solo from "The Dog Days Are Over" 🤩
Thanks for the ❤ from my comment from your first ptx video. I was so happy to see you did this one. I subbed. I can't wait to watch you react to more ptx.
This is why Pentatonix is so much fun to follow! They have so much talent and are willing to take on just about anything! Yeah, the Dirty Diana comment from you was fun, right when they went into it!
They are the best at arranging and transitions. They have several evolutions. All one take and minimal to no post production. They are so good. No one else does what they do.
New subscriber, sorry to have missed Hallelujah but I’ll go back and check it out. I found Pentatonix during the pandemic and quickly became a fan. To get an idea of their versatility, take a look at their Daft Punk medley (for which they won their first Grammy) and Bohemian Rhapsody for sure since you love Freddie Mercury and Queen! Some of my favorites (just for now, it’s always changing) include their 90s Dance Medley, Can You Feel the Love Tonight and Mad World. An FYI - they have a number of these types of informal videos where they just assemble in the studio and sing live for a couple of takes, picking the best one to release on TH-cam. With such minimal production, you really get a feel for how talented they are. It’s always a pleasure to find a new reactor to PTX so thanks! Peace from Ohio … PS You have a really great voice …
My favourite of the Pentatonix "Evolution" videos! Very happy to see you enjoying the talents of PTX, and starting with their older recordings with Avi is a treat. Since 2018 their bass has been Matt, who is a fabulous addition to the group, but many of us get a warm and fuzzy feeling listening to the original five members that created the PTX phenomenon. Great reaction! Liked and subbed for all the PTX you can handle!
All of the "Evolution of..." videos are filmed in a single take, no cuts, no edits. They perform the entire medley several times and then pick out the one they like best to publish. There are currently 5 "Evolution of...." videos (in chronological order): Evolution of Music, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, and Ariane Grande. On their current tour, they have been performing an Evolution of Taylor Swift, so an official video of that may be joining their catalog fairly soon. I'm sure others have mentioned that Matt has replaced Avi as the bass of the group. Avi is currently performing as a solo artist, and his music (which is almost entirely written by him) is very different from the music he performed with Pentatonix, and is well worth a listen!
Matt replaced Avi when he left the group. If there is 1 black guy it is the origional group. If 2 black guys are in it it is the group since 2017. Only 1 change though they can look like new people. For the evolution videos, they would sing it through 3 times and post their favorite. Subbed for more PTX
Two Whitney songs - one as a tribute to her when she passed - "How will I know?" . The other was a collaboration with her recording to re-release "Do You Hear What I hear?"
As has been explained, Avi Kaplan left the group in September 2017, after 6 years with the group, for several reasons, primarily burnout and his mother's fight with cancer. He wasn't allowed to release any of his own music for almost 2 years after leaving, but in March 2019, he released "Change on the Rise", which is the original song most reactors start with on their journey into the wide-ranging catalog Avi has created. Once you react to that, jump ahead a few years to "When I'm a Fool, Sunset Sound Session" for a contrast in style and the backing of some of LA's best studio musicians.
😅👉Wow! Don't know what video you were watching , but it was Scott who carried most of the leads, he was using his extensive vocal range for different songs. Kirstie and Mitch also had leads but mostly provided stunning harmonies since their voices are quite similar. Kevin's beatboxing is ALWAYS on point. Avi's bass is INSANE. (Avi was the bass from 2011 to the end of 2017, Matt is now the bass) Also they ALL are INCREDIBLY TALENTED. When the bass Avi or Matt have a singing lead Scott takes over the bass and he can hit high falsettos, plus he is very soulful. Avi and Matt sing bass but switch into baritone. Kevin has a gorgeous tenor vocal when he sings.
@@KingGreatnessKG yes Daft Punk Medley and their original song Love Again are both heavy EDM sounding. Itll blow your mind. They won a Grammy for Daft Punk. 1st a capella group to ever win a Grammy and so far they've won 3...all within the Avi era of the group.
The PTX community is large and enthusiastic! Also, they were in a competition called The Sing Off several years ago where they did covers of several artists. Really fun! Lastly, I see you're a Prince fan - have you seen his playing in While My Guitar Gently Weeps? Truly a unique talent.
You mentioned Whitney, beleive it or not, her family gave PTX permission to use her voice in a couple of their songs. Both Christmas songs, but that is a big honor. th-cam.com/video/Dii4smgR6mU/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Dii4smgR6mU/w-d-xo.html . Enjoyed the reaction, now to look up your first PTX, I always wait until at least the second reaction before subscribing, but right now you already have my vote. Hallelujah just as enjoyable as this one, I did sub for more.
Everyone likes what they like but Dimash is a singer, Micheal wrote so many of his songs. You really can't compare the two. I know Dimash has written some songs too but none of them sold like M.J.
Do Popspring 2016 it's about 15 minutes 3 originals and Michael Jackson is so good live
Love Again is one of my favorite originals! For something recent, I suggest Kiss From a Rose and O Holy Night. You’ll also love Bohemian Rhapsody and all their other “Evolution” videos.

There is a live version of this. Look up Pentatonix at Popspring. They do three songs, this evolution and a couple of originals.
Popspring 2016. Yes...a great mini concert that has great video and audio. MTV produced it.

Awesome Reaction; I just love PTX evolution of... renditions. I hope you continue to react to more - Thank you so much!
His name is pronounced Ah-vee. Avi Kaplan iis now a solo artist. You can search for his solo stuff.
Avi reaction soon 👀

Not in this. I can give you time breakdowns but briefly this is Mitch, Kirstin then Scott as leads.
Avi has a solo career you should give it a listen. Would recommend Change on the rise to start.
Adding to the list! Thanks
