This is because the x2 is a sporty version of the X1 , like the x4 is to the x3 or the x6 is tot he x5... In this comparison they should of put the X1 , volvo and jag do not have a sporty version of their cars...

Hi Justin I bought the T4 GEARTRONIC INSCRIPTION, With red interior leather seats, 20" alloy wheels, panoramic roof and plus many other options. At the moment German car they look boring to me. Volvo is a quality breath of fresh air😎

it's ok, I think is a good balance , of course it is not sporty like the T5 but it pulls more than enough, and most important thing for me, it is a very smooth and quiet engine.

P.S. BMW made me hate the X2 with their adverts - rather than advertising the car itself they advertise lifestyle and tell this BS about being different. I know most adverts are about lifestyle etc but BMW took it too far.

Earlier in the clips he says the X2 has the best handling, cornering, performance etc, but ends up saying the XC40 drivers the best!
the XC40 does not driver the best, by any means... I think even the CX5 drives better
I have owned Both the X2 and now a XC40 and yes the X2 corners better but overall the XC40 drives much better which really surprised me. i have also driven a E-Pace and fully agree the Volvo is the best out of these three

Is that Fasant part of the team? end of video:) I like Mat highlights the most important details, specs of cars but I still miss Mat never talk about for example heated windshield. Thats honesty my favourite option on my Focus. Winter time no more ice scraping or de-mist no time.

4:50 don’t know why but expected the window to open
We just bought a previously owned 2019 Volvo XC40 T5 R Design, and wow are we blown out of the water with this car. It has 17,400 miles on it in perfect Volvo Certified condition.
We did trade in our 2007 Volvo convertible with low miles as we garage and cover every winter. With that being said, we opted to add a 10 year 100,000 bumper to bumper warranty because of all the beautiful electronics on this car.
It drives like a dream, and we are enjoying the 9” iPad size screen, Harmen Karden sound system.
Don’t be on the fence if you are looking at the smaller luxury SUV’s. Volvo is really got this niche covered. Our tween grandchildren love the ride in the backseats, and they report this car is so comfortable that they do not get car sick especially with the full panoramic views they have with the car window and full sunroof exposure. The vents in the back are an A+ for air conditioning or heat.
We feel completely safe knowing that it automatically stops for pedestrians and large animals. It also vertical parks itself (in and out) and has 360 degree cameras to avoid any tight fitting areas. The list goes on and on……………
That is my take as one really happy consumer on our purchase.
By the way, our other car is a 2017 RAV 4. It also has very low miles. We gave this to our daughter whom needed a car. It’s a great reliable car as well. However the road noise interferes with my husbands hearing aid……so it had to go.

A lot of cars have load lips so that in case you have something in the back, when you get to your destination, it isn't resting up against the tailgate, thus eliminating the possibility of it falling out when opening the hatch.
I just feel these small SUVs are something the young generations should buy if they have extra cash. Not for me. Very surprised at the Jags poor turn out really. Great review! Keep it up!!
In terms of exterior styling and classy interiors, I'd have to give it to the Jag

Ever since Matt had an XC60 he absolutely creams himself over Volvos... that said, Volvo have done a top job with the XC40....still if I had to have a compact the Jag, in grey with a black pack is sensational.

Anthony Dayspring99 well u are talking about the looks. Looks do not reflect driving or practicality which both are average at best. If u are speaking of looks, the jag is quite outdated on the inside IMO, not as nice as the XC40.

CM Adolf SXE hit the nail on the head. I’ve driven the Jag and the Volvo and that Volvo drove like a Mini Countryman (the wife and I went to check them out), the Jag drove sooooooooooo much better. nothing like any of Jags current stable XE to F Pace but the cost is lower. So Comments about the drive being poor is bullocks. Vs it’s peers its bloody good. Also, the Jag interior had character - like an F type. Whilst Volvo whilst well put together was meh. To be fair the Volvo wiped the floor with practicality and MSRP but the actual price you paid was cheaper on the Jag.

In my opinion the Jaguar looks too pathetic for its heritage and badge, it looks like a wannabe F-Pace but is too short and looks like an egg.
Only due to minor issues like the infotainment screen. Otherwise, the engine and transmissions are solid. BMW on the other hand had some catastrophic flaws with its diesel engines.
Is it reliable though? To me, that's the BIG QUESTION MARK. Nobody really knows yet.

I would go for the Volvo XC40 because of it has a range of cool exterior colour combinations, superior flexibility including how the door pockets are design without compromising sound quality and the little touches, and pleasant to drive with a range of powerful engines.
It would be great if you would give the monthly prices for the cars in some vids, PCH or PCP etc. Just cos alot of people don't buy cars outright so it would be good to see the costs in regards to monthly payments. Just an idea :)

I would go for the volvo, even though i don’t really like its exterior styling
X2 looks good but next to the other two it looks more like a cross-over between an SUV and a small estate/sportback kind of thing. XC40 looks like a toy car, or like the Ikea of small SUV's (also Swedish so makes sense :-P ) I'd have the E-Pace out of this bunch but in general I'd just have a hatchback.

The X1 would be more appropriate than the X2 in this test, regardless of it being 2 years old. The X2 is trying to be sporty the X1 isn’t. The Jag is a 💩, Volvo is nice but the driving position isn’t great, unless it’s just me who has a problem with the clutch foot rest 🤔
Parents have just bought an E-Pace and that touchscreen is infuriating. We've had some sunny days recently and you cannot see a thing! All it need was a slight angle change and maybe a little lip over the top to keep some extra sun out. It'll probably be the first change whenever they update the model in a few years
