Being a fellow HVAC tradesman..... I'm ashamed when I find animals in deadly environments like that and appalled by the homeowners that leave them in those conditions. You absolutely did the right thing. And I do the same regularly. Good on you bud 👍.
I was a tech at a cable company for 15 years. You never want to call animal control, but sometimes the client forces your hand with how bad they are treating their pets.
When people so casually abuse animals like that it means they not only learned it but have been doing their entire lives and see nothing wrong with it. Some call that mental illness but regardless ot must be exposed.

THANK YOU for calling the ASPCA!!! Those helpless little pups should not have been outside in the heat, in a TINY cage that had the floor of it COVERED in feces that was also in their food and water. The pups were malnourished evidenced by their hip and vertebral bones showing. They showed fear of people. YOU did what was right!!! 🤗

@Kayli W. The Saturation Temperature shown on the Fieldpiece app on his phone, showed 113 degrees on the outdoor unit.. The pressure seemed normal, and he just cooled it down/cleaned it. You can bet it was probably at least the the 90s that day. Maybe high 80s at best.
The fact that he had enough concern to take things into his own hands like that, and so openly, says a lot. Willing to lose a customer, maybe even customerS through word of mouth, to help those babies live a hopefully better life than what they were headed for. Good guy

I agree. Far as getting paid, I'm sure the landlord is taking care of that. Trash like that can't take care of themselves, much less dogs. If the animal people come out, they will have to provide proof that the dogs have all their shots or they will take them. I hope that happens.

If the people live in filth why would they treat the animals any different. It's well studied people like this aren't 'wired up' right - they literally don't see the mess normal people do, it's not like they know it's messy and can't be bothered.
People may say mind your business but I personally am very happy to know those puppies will be taken care of finally. I would love to have others mind that kind of business. I used to be a maintenance manager for a large apartment complex in Atlanta and I saw it all.. I had a guy literally kick a Chihuahua PUPPY across the room in front of me once, I thought I was going to have a stroke my BP was so high. Also had a tenant call about ‘no AC’ and went in to find 4 adult Rottweilers a litter of 6 (still living) and several dead half EATEN puppies. They were living in conditions I can’t even describe here without getting banned. It was horrific and how someone was living in that filth is still beyond me. I’m talking poop and 🩸 everywhere. Btw the reason the AC wasn’t working was because his meter had been red tagged. Fool had no power!

You are a good dude, Curtis. Poor little furbabies... There is no reason to treat them like that. Despite knowing how the tenant treats animals, you still did a great job (and remembered your customer is the OWNER, not the tenant.) That is very difficult to do and shows you care about your customer and the animals too. Remember your little "bird" helper in your video a week or so ago? Animals can sense when someone is "good" to them.

@@dh2032 there were 2 puppies and were prob at least 2 months old. But you could see bones on them. That cage should be cleaned out regularly. Looks like they're spending way too much time in there

on the first part of the video when I saw them puppies I had the same idea you did, to clean the cage before leaving. as a pet owner there is no way in hell my pets would ever be in a cage like that. I get a lot of grief from some of my very own family due to my dogs not ever being outside in the wheather, they spend most of their time with me inside, if its nice out they do go outside, but if it's to hot or too cold,,, nope,,, they are inside with my kids and us. thank you for looking out for the wonderful pets we call dogs....
Such a small act of kindness can lead to such big results; You did the right thing, and i thank you for your courage to not only call animal control, but not even hesitate to help the lil deegs and clean their cage, even when somebody walked by you just said "Hi hows it goin?" and didnt even waver in your current task.

@Kayli W. That still doesn't excuse them for sticking two puppies in a tiny crate, leaving them outside to lay in their own feces. How would you like it if your parents had done that to you when you were sick rather than take care of you and taken you to the doctor for medicine? As a Vet Assistant this hurts me to know that they COULD have been responsible owners and given them proper shelter in the yard while recuperating from illness. Instead they caged them up like cattle and left them to rot. Good on the HVAC man for reporting it.

@@kaylind2881 they look wormy. I would bet they got diarrhea so they left them out and they tracked it and spilled their water in it. Only takes an hour to get like that if they're sick. Probably why they didn't give them bedding but they should've at least given them pee pads.

Curtis, as a retired HVAC Commercial tech, I saw quite a lot in 25 years, Even Businesses do not maintain their systems (restaurants being the worst). Good job getting that unit cleaned. and just as you did, I too would have called the ASPCA...Good Job, God Bless.
I was doing an hvac job one time and me and my coworkers noticed a pitbull puppy chained up with no food and the only water it had was rain water I assumed and it was dirty as hell. 2x4's all over there place with nails sticking up for the puppy to step on. The only shelter this guy had was a corrugated metal roof leaning on a half broken cinder block wall that you could hardly qualify as shelter. We never saw anybody come out and give him attention but I presume they gave him just enough food to live because he skinny. Atleast the pup wasn't stuck in a cage full of shit but after being there for a week or so, nothing changed so me and my friends decided to take the puppy. It didn't take long for that dog to start getting fat and he was so happy to ride with us back to town. One of the co workers adopted the puppy and he got big quick. You aren't suppose to keep a dog outside with out proper shelter and adequate food or water. I don't think I dog should be kept outside 24/7 anyway, why bother having a dog at that point.

The Fact that it took all of a Couple Minutes for you to walk the Hose over, Spray the Bottom out & Refill the Water Bowl... Says ALOT about them, & how they were incapable of taking the same Few Minutes out of whatever they WEREN'T doing, to go do at Least THAT for THEIR PUPPIES. Fantastic Job!!

The first video I've watched of yours, not certain how you came up on me stream but you make me very happy with what you did for those little dogs and that you followed through with calling animal control. And although the environment the puppies were in was so terrible, he can't just stop working and risk getting fired because he doesn't like the people. He has a responsibility and like the OP said, he did more than what most people would've done. He called animal control which is all he could really do.
The first time I hosed out an a/c I was in high school and my parents had a window unit that wasn't cooling worth crap. They were going to throw it away. I took it out of the window and took my mom's dawn and put dawn in the cooling fins and started to spray it out with the garden hose. It worked great after letting it dry out. I thought to myself well there is water already in it from condensation that spraying it wouldn't hurt as long as I didn't get the control box wet.
Thank you for doing the right thing. I've done the same in the past when I see neglected animals and I always sleep better at night after knowing that the animals are in good hands.

Long ago I was the office manager for an HVAC company in California. Our techs saw all kinds of strange, shocking and/or gross situations but never animal neglect like this. Since everyone at the company was an animal lover (my employer and I both brought our dogs to work with us every day), I'm sure they would have also called animal control if they witnessed something similar. Those puppies were probably close to death from dehydration, starvation and the heat. Thank you for your compassion, and I hope all of the animals have been removed from the premises and are safe, healthy and happy now. I TOTALLY agree with you--if people can't or won't care for pets properly they shouldn't have them.

I lost my 12 year old coonhound a month ago to bladder cancer. She was a wonderful hunting dog and I will miss her dearly. I get really angry when I see people disrespecting animals. Your a good man for reporting this disaster. Also, the children should not have to live in such a dirty environment. I see lots of toys but look at those ducts. I know money doesn't grow on trees, but I hope they can get their situation straightened out and it will be better for everyone.

Unbelievable, It did not all of a sudden quit working. That thing had to be on the blink for a while. I am glad you called the authorities on them about the puppies, that was ridiculous. There are some near me that scream and cry all night and day, when they are not barking. I think that they are being mistreated to make them mean for fighting. I called animal control twice and I don't think they ever came out.
You need to find someone that will take them in advance, and dognap them at night possibly and get them a new home. I’ve had to do this once. On a puppy that I gave too someone and they were very bad !! He lived to about 15 years old and happy 😆
@Earl Estes I would advise people not to follow your advice unless they like the idea of going to jail/prison for property theft. I do not support people who engage in those kinds of vigilante actions. I agree with the HVAC Guy reporting this incident but at the end of the day it is up to law enforcement to investigate to determine if any animal welfare/cruelty laws were violated since those laws vary by state. In addition Earl Estes be glad you did not get caught since your actions were criminal since you have no legal authority to confiscation another persons property.
You did a good job and a good service for the pups. They shouldn’t be crated outside and neglected the way they were. I have multiple dogs, but they are pampered and never left to anything less than being comfortable and loved.

This is why I respect tradesmen. Full of hard work, honor, and integrity. If I saw that, I’d do the same. I would’ve finessed the customer by fulfilling the work order then call animal control to investigate this household. If you bring pets and kids into the world, be responsible!

You are a good dude, Curtis. Poor little furbabies... There is no reason to treat them like that. Despite knowing how the tenant treats animals, you still did a great job (and remembered your customer is the OWNER, not the tenant.) That is very difficult to do and shows you care about your customer and the animals too. Remember your little "bird" helper in your video a week or so ago? Animals can sense when someone is "good" to them.

on the first part of the video when I saw them puppies I had the same idea you did, to clean the cage before leaving. as a pet owner there is no way in hell my pets would ever be in a cage like that. I get a lot of grief from some of my very own family due to my dogs not ever being outside in the wheather, they spend most of their time with me inside, if its nice out they do go outside, but if it's to hot or too cold,,, nope,,, they are inside with my kids and us.

How would you like it if your parents had done that to you when you were sick rather than take care of you and taken you to the doctor for medicine? As a Vet Assistant this hurts me to know that they COULD have been responsible owners and given them proper shelter in the yard while recuperating from illness. Instead they caged them up like cattle and left them to rot. Good on the HVAC man for reporting it.

Curtis, as a retired HVAC Commercial tech, I saw quite a lot in 25 years, Even Businesses do not maintain their systems (restaurants being the worst). Good job getting that unit cleaned. and just as you did, I too would have called the ASPCA...Good Job, God Bless.

I was doing an hvac job one time and me and my coworkers noticed a pitbull puppy chained up with no food and the only water it had was rain water I assumed and it was dirty as hell. 2x4's all over there place with nails sticking up for the puppy to step on. The only shelter this guy had was a corrugated metal roof leaning on a half broken cinder block wall that you could hardly qualify as shelter. We never saw anybody come out and give him attention but I presume they gave him just enough food to live because he skinny. Atleast the pup wasn't stuck in a cage full of shit but after being there for a week or so, nothing changed so me and my friends decided to take the puppy. It didn't take long for that dog to start getting fat and he was so happy to ride with us back to town. One of the co workers adopted the puppy and he got big quick. You aren't suppose to keep a dog outside with out proper shelter and adequate food or water. I don't think I dog should be kept outside 24/7 anyway, why bother having a dog at that point.

The Fact that it took all of a Couple Minutes for you to walk the Hose over, Spray the Bottom out & Refill the Water Bowl... Says ALOT about them, & how they were incapable of taking the same Few Minutes out of whatever they WEREN'T doing, to go do at Least THAT for THEIR PUPPIES. Fantastic Job!!

The first video I've watched of yours, not certain how you came up on me stream but you make me very happy with what you did for those little dogs and that you followed through with calling animal control. And although the environment the puppies were in was so terrible, he can't just stop working and risk getting fired because he doesn't like the people. He has a responsibility and like the OP said, he did more than what most people would've done. He called animal control which is all he could really do.
The first time I hosed out an a/c I was in high school and my parents had a window unit that wasn't cooling worth crap. They were going to throw it away. I took it out of the window and took my mom's dawn and put dawn in the cooling fins and started to spray it out with the garden hose. It worked great after letting it dry out. I thought to myself well there is water already in it from condensation that spraying it wouldn't hurt as long as I didn't get the control box wet.

Long ago I was the office manager for an HVAC company in California. Our techs saw all kinds of strange, shocking and/or gross situations but never animal neglect like this. Since everyone at the company was an animal lover (my employer and I both brought our dogs to work with us every day), I'm sure they would have also called animal control if they witnessed something similar. Those puppies were probably close to death from dehydration, starvation and the heat. Thank you for your compassion, and I hope all of the animals have been removed from the premises and are safe, healthy and happy now. I TOTALLY agree with you--if people can't or won't care for pets properly they shouldn't have them.

I lost my 12 year old coonhound a month ago to bladder cancer. She was a wonderful hunting dog and I will miss her dearly. I get really angry when I see people disrespecting animals. Your a good man for reporting this disaster. Also, the children should not have to live in such a dirty environment. I see lots of toys but look at those ducts. I know money doesn't grow on trees, but I hope they can get their situation straightened out and it will be better for everyone.

You can tell by their yard and ac unit that they’re just disgusting dirty people. I’d call CPS as well to make sure their children are being properly taken care of and aren’t dirty themselves due to poor parenting and or just pure laziness

Unbelievable, It did not all of a sudden quit working. That thing had to be on the blink for a while. I am glad you called the authorities on them about the puppies, that was ridiculous. There are some near me that scream and cry all night and day, when they are not barking. I think that they are being mistreated to make them mean for fighting. I called animal control twice and I don't think they ever came out.
You need to find someone that will take them in advance, and dognap them at night possibly and get them a new home. I’ve had to do this once. On a puppy that I gave too someone and they were very bad !! He lived to about 15 years old and happy 😆

@Earl Estes I would advise people not to follow your advice unless they like the idea of going to jail/prison for property theft. I do not support people who engage in those kinds of vigilante actions. I agree with the HVAC Guy reporting this incident but at the end of the day it is up to law enforcement to investigate to determine if any animal welfare/cruelty laws were violated since those laws vary by state. In addition Earl Estes be glad you did not get caught since your actions were criminal since you have no legal authority to confiscation another persons property.

You did a good job and a good service for the pups. They shouldn’t be crated outside and neglected the way they were. I have multiple dogs, but they are pampered and never left to anything less than being comfortable and loved.

This is why I respect tradesmen. Full of hard work, honor, and integrity. If I saw that, I’d do the same. I would’ve finessed the customer by fulfilling the work order then call animal control to investigate this household. If you bring pets and kids into the world, be responsible!
