Going to be ordering up a long shaft. You didn't mention the battery leads. I'm just making sure there's not a separate kit that has to be bought for leads for the electric start. I would like to think it came with it but just checking. Thanks
@ia6980 No, it wasn't bad at all. Obviously, electric tilt and trim would be better, but that also adds to the weight of the overall setup. For what I needed, I basically set it where I wanted it while in water and didn't mess with it. The only time I pulled it up to tilt was for trailering.
@@bbeicker2 thanks. I’m going to be starting my new 20hp, Tohatsu soon. I got the electric start too, curious to know what battery you use? The book says a minimum 40ah, 330.. thanks
@@davehanna1557 I had a regular 12v car battery already that I used. I figured the car battery was more than enough. I think they put that in the manual to make sure you don't under do it. I'd search Amazon for the one they suggest. It will likely be lighter than a traditional car battery.
@@bbeicker2 thank you for your reply. I too, just got it, had its first day on the water yesterday.. I will update here after the break in period.. don't go boating that often, it will take me till fall for sure to properly break it in..
@@FL4Tsti well, I took it to the dillership at that time, they checked it, and said nothing wrong with it. They say that little shaking at idle is just the way these engines are.. it runs well, no concerns. I guess, I was just paying too much attention to this whole thing.. the engine has been on the water only 2-3 times since, I guess I am a lousy boater after all lol. So cannot tell yet what it is going to be like once it is fully broken into 🙈
Great vid and I do. Out of all the other videos, you are the first to pull cord a few times before starting first time.
Is the motor still shaking at low idle? I havent noticed it with mercury outboards? Even though it should be same?
Is 29 ounces of oil for break in only? i read that it holds 33 ounces.

It comes with the battery leads.
@@bbeicker2 thanks, I appreciate your response!.. Have a great weekend will be ordering on Monday!..
I have same problem with the handle...
Do you think you would need electrical tilt in your case, i got mine without electrical tilt an debating if i need it?
I didn't need it, but it's a nice option to have.
Thank you! Is it difficult to lift?
Not at all it was relatively light.
@bbeicker2 thank you. Is it difficult to tilt it?

did you have to retouque head bolts after 10 hour run in?
I sold it before I could finish break in. I've never heard of that though.
I got the same seats as you! Does yours have the spinning mounts?
Yes it did. They're also on aluminum tracks, so they can be slid side to side but still lock in place. I sold the boat some time back though
Does it come filled with lower unit oil?
Yes. Mine did

I believe 10w40 marine oil is required on the tohatsu.
I think that's right
@@bbeicker2 10w30 or 10w40, I just check the manual , l purchased full synthetic 10w40 for the next oil change.
Do t use full synthetic for the break in
Should it idle in gear the first 10 minutes?
Didn't say, but i wouldn't think so. Or, I wouldn't think it would matter.
what the boat model y have? AND we wait video on the water)
Weldcraft 1442
We’re did you purchase the motor ? Thank you

My engine shakes just like yours on low rpm.. is this normal? My other engine, 2016 Tohatsu 3.5 does not shake this prominently on low rpm/idle...
I did some research as I was a little worried about it. Supposed to not shake after break in period... we'll see.

Have you tried trolling with this motor? How slow can you go trolling
No sir. I really need to get it back out and finish breaking it in. It still only has a couple hours on it.
I'm considering this motor, did you break it in fully? Is it still shaking?
Thx for this video.
I have not finished breaking it in. I had some other stuff come up and haven't had a chance to get back to the water.
Tohatsu vs mercury its the same only differennce is name and tiller handle
