Tips from a New Zealander... Always shop at Pak n Save and try to go when they have sales like Wacky Wednesday, etc. You'll see it advertised big in yellow. Fish and chips make a great, cheap meal especially in the cities as it does get costly in smaller towns! Try to find farmers markets, etc for fruit and vege, e.g. Vege Direct in Chch has things like 20cent avocados etc. 😊
Auckland is not cheap, and fish and chips in Auckland is made mostly by people who don't eat fish and chips themselves, they just want a cheap and easy business to get into. The only 'cheap' and quality fast food in Auckland is Dominoes pizza. Everything else is poor quality except for Hell Pizza, Carl's Jr and Burgerfuel but they are not cheap. Cafe culture is huge in Auckland and you are better off spending NZ$20 on something nutritious, delicious and artistic than spending the same on something of varying quality at a takeaway shop or fast food chain. Eggs benedict, gourmet burgers with salad, and beer batter fish and chips are staples of Auckland cafes and cost about the same as takeaway shops and fast food chains. Coffee is generally high quality everywhere.
Burger Fuel is the BOMB! Not cheap, true, but oh my are they good burgers! L&P - I swear you guys must put crack or something in that stuff. It's addictive. And I second the "shop at Pak n Save". All hail Stickman! Loved my holiday in NZ. Seriously looking at making a (possibly permanent) jump across the Ditch now.
Travelling in NZ is a bit different than other countries, but it doesn't have to be expensive. You can stay very cheaply in Department of Conversation camping sites (DOC Free camping), you can rent a car quite cheaply with a company I recommend called Go Rentals. (Unlimited mileage and usually about 20-30 per day for a reasonably modern one) And I disagree on having to spend $5000 on a car. You can find something reliable for less than half of that. Cheapest food is available from Community Gardens (Search for city name + community garden in Facebook), Otherwise Countdown or Pak N Save. (New world is a little more expensive), if you want to stay somewhere longer. Just find signup for a house/apartment rental. (Outside of main centres you could probably find somewhere for $150 per week) Another good place to find cheap things is also 2nd hand stores such as Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc. They are usually in most cities.
Aguafria 💆🏽💆🏽💆🏽 omg yes, oh that was cringe-y watching and listening to this video. Thank you. I'm a kiwi btw and a aucklander at that. Oh so correct in everything you said
Reasonable advice but the Community Gardens comment is very very not cool. These are charity organisations designed to HELP NEW ZEALAND RESIDENTS who are facing problems with food security. Ie they are financially disadvantaged so bad they need help to feed themselves. If you have traveled to NZ and traveling around the country you are in no way a poor person. Going to a community garden and getting food for free or very cheap literally is taking resources from disadvantaged people. It like taking money from a charity box. Taking resource meant for disadvantaged locals is not the way any ethical person should act.
in regards to buying a car, if you know your cars you don't have to spend $5000. I own a car, I bought it for $1800, it goes perfectly fine. if you get a Toyota, no matter how old it'll go forever lol
buy a cheap car off Trademe or the local car facebook page in your area. make sure it has a warrant of fitness and a current registration. if its diesel you need to make sure it has current road user miles on it.
I do not agree with some of this. Many people I know DID buy a car, ranging from $500 to $4500. It is so easy to buy a car in NZ, it's insane (compared to europe). Especially if you plan to stay longer eg. 3months+, i would say it is the best - as long as you can sleep in it (which you can in most). That's what I did! Bought a car, used it for 6 months, slept in it most of the time, saved lots of money on accomodation and transport and sold it FOR THE SAME PRICE. And again, most people I know who did it like me, could sell their car for the same price, sometimes even more!
Philip Welser That's exactly what I want to do too. Could you recommend a specific model? I'm currently thinking of buying a Toyota Corolla Verso or maybe a Previa because they should be reliable and big enough to sleep in.
Many people go for the Previa, because it has lot's of space to sleep in and it's a common and cheap vehicle. I bought a Honda CRV from '96 and it was great bacause often a 4x4 is handy in NZ. Just think about what you want to do, how many people you wanna take with you and what is important to you in a vehicle. And check general mechanical stuff always (how many km before the cambelt need changing, tyres, brakes, etc.) on any car you buy if you want to make sure to be able to sell it for the same price. (which also depends greatly on the season you buy and sell your car). Hope that helps :)
The only issue with this idea is that you need to be close to a public bath room when you tuck in for the night. Look up camp sites that offer shower and toilet facilities.
This is so great. I currently live in China, however will be traveling home to New Zealand for the first time in over 2 years. Your video has given me so much inspiration for when I do my road trip around the South Island. Appreciate the content you have made, keep creating and doing cool stuff!
Omg I almost had a small heart attack!! Looking through the fruit in supermarkets and 9.99 dollars for a pack of blueberries...probably about £2 in the U.K.!!
I loved the Auckland museum, but the one in Wellington blows that museum out of the water. If you're gonna stop by there, I highly suggest going. It's the best museum I've ever been in, and I used to live in D.C., the city of Smithsonian museums. And ahhh I miss Countdown. I liked their multigrain/seed bread for breakfast. I also loved getting their manuka/clover honey blend because it was the only way I could ever afford manuka honey! I lived on bread, instant pastas and oat bran in order to afford my travel. I was there for study abroad so I had a small amount of time so I just prioritized travel over food. That Pizza Hut was great! I also found this Asian supermarket which had hella cheap food on K Road in Auckland which was awesome.
That would be the Te Papa Museum, it is a fantastic museum and we live 18 mins away from there. Great food is affordable at the convenience of shopping a the supermarket. :)
All prices of new goods incl. food, include tax of 15 percent (GST). The price on the item on the shelf includes GST. I note in some other countries the price is 'plus tax' which may cover both city and state taxes.
The odd thing about NZ is that we don't get to eat a lot of NZ produce. Our farmers export to premium markets overseas and so we either have to pay overseas equivalent prices or take advantage of cancelled export orders. As such there is a lot of imported food in NZ especially meat and baby milk powder. Our butter and cheese is made from 'domestic and imported ingredients'. Check the labels.
huh??? my table, fridge and freezer are FULL of nz produce. i eat it every day. delicious. best in the world. i can't remember the time i had imported food - except bananas.
yes. i buy from new world, and countdown mainly, and sometimes from pak'n save. there are six supermarkets nearby. and sometimes, i purchase from a nearby growers market in season to be sure of the freshest. nz fruit such as apples, pears, kiwifruit, peaches, plums and apricots are much better and cheaper than anything i was finding when living in australia. same with fish, and meat. and vegetables.
Nope, Steven's right. The NZ agricultural industry's prime focus is exports. In large part, the good stuff goes overseas and we get what's left and still expected to pay the premium price for it. Meaning often imported stuff is cheaper, so that's what they do. Pretty stupid huh? And yes, lamb SHOULD be cheap here, it's one of our prime export products. But nope, it's one of the more expensive meats.
Transfercar is also highly recommended as it's basically free rental cars; we went from Queenstown all the way up to Auckland on a month long road trip using it. The occasional free campervan shows up on there however the timing on them is usually very tight. Vehicle availability is total pot luck though so this route only works if you're willing to take each day as it comes! We also bought a cheap backpacker minivan and sold it back to the seller which came out to $11 per day for the buy back 'rental'.
Nice tips for newbies. A couple of things- a car can be brought on trade me for around 1,500 (lots of beginner drivers start on one of these run around) doc campgrounds are a go too, 15nzd a night usually- they are in beautiful places aswell. Use couch surfer! Most kiwis are friendly and would def let you stay in their flat. As long as you have good banter ;)
I won't! I had several English travellers stay in my flat. They stole our towels, food (males), and towels, clothes, makeup and toiletries (females). Also they wear shorts and tshirts in the winter then run up the power bill over $600.
Aki ora! Two questions: 1. Are the trolley buses from GO Wellington still running? 2. How much is room hires (rents) in homes or flats cost (there it is per week but round off to monthly of possible)? in Wellington? If too dear as, then how is the mainland (South Island) and Southland insofar as hires (or rentas) for one person? Ta!
My husband and I saved like crazy to make our NZ vacation a trip of a lifetime. I guess it helps that the US dollar went a bit farther than the NZ dollar...for now anyway. And you are not kidding about the size of the pizza. We ordered a large, based on our American concept of large pizza. What arrived at our table was easily 2 to 2 1/2 times the size of what we thought it would be. Good thing our accommodations had a fridge w/ freezer. Pizza became the staple of several meals.
+sam brown Not in comparison to this particular pizza. It made ours look anemic. But, the NZ pizza saved me a couple of days of grocery shopping, so it was all good.
freedom camping is banned in new Zealand now. about 6 to 9 dollers for a basic campsite. DOC campsites. keyword. you get a toilet. with a pit in the ground. covered. water from a tap stream lake. maybe BBQ area. hope to be of help.:)
I lived in NZ for 4yrs and loved it lived in Glen Eden which is only a 10min drive to Piha with its black sand. Hercules and Xena where both filmed in that area and the Waitakeri mountains.
it depends where you go for the bungy, at the kawarau bridge bungy is $195, the ones that's 270 is the Nevis because you have to be transported there by the company.
just a quick question.. , i'm from Malaysia btw.., Is travel budget around RM 10 K / 3500 CHF is enough for around 1 week? For 4 people. Not including airplane tickets.
Living in NZ is expensive, food Renting , electricity, drinking and eating out Transport Clothes etc Very hard for kiwi families make their ends Traveling is different
Our cars are all imports, mostly good and reliable Japanese imports. Australia manufacturer cars, but our cars are cheaper than there's because we save costs by importing ours
Did I miss the cost of petrol (gas)? When I lived there last year, it was about $2.15 NZD per liter for high-octane fuel. That translates to about $5.22 USD per gallon. The exchange rate is higher now ($0.75 USD to $1NZD) and gas is cheaper, but anything related to owning and automobile is really, really expensive.
Nice tips! Love your quirky style! Just a friendly heads up on the freedom camping: most freedom camping areas will require you to have a self-contained vehicle i.e. a camper with a toilet in it. Best to look up where you want to freedom camp before you go parking up randomly. And car rental prices soar in summer - best to travel in shoulder seasons ;)
Maybe it depends on which City or town you're in but a sit down meal for me in Wellington is typically NZD$11-18. Backpackers can be $19. Bluebridge ferry Wellington to Picton is more like $55 (vs Interislander ferries).
freedom camping and free camping is not illegal in NZ, however, each district gets to make up their own rules on it so check the rules for the area you are in. Also, the roadside stops along the highways, you can stay in them for 12 hours before anyone can move you along. If they try just tell them you are too tired to keep driving, a police officer can not make your drive if you are tired.
Coming from a new Zealander and aucklander search up Auckland transport if you want to take a bus train or ferry if you are in auckland train comes every 10 minutes 💖
always hit grocery stores bigger ones easy in morning and buy all deals. meats cheap animals eat grass. those punk ins/ squash so good you can just eat that as well .. so good . gonna import seeds . haha.
I was just in New Zealand. Did a whole bunch of videos. Loved it there, but it is quite pricey even though we did the cheapest version possible. Rented a van, drove from Auckland to Wellington. Caught the ferry. The cheapest way that was recommended to us was to drop the van off in wellington and rent another. We looked everywhere to do this. But could not find anything in Picton. (The other side) the ferry was $700+ gas was $2.30/L. Alcohol is 2 or 3 times the price of North America. So just bring some extra money.
If you go to a Countdown store, they have One cards, pick one up from store or get one online, they're free. Certain items in store will be discounted, these products usually have a yellow and green sticker above or below them so instead of paying $4.50 for something you could just end up paying $2.50 for it because of the club card. New World does have something similar but I frequent Countdown. If you want to register your One card for discounts on fuel also do it if you're planning on a long trip, if your card is not registered YOU CAN STILL GET CLUB DISCOUNTS AT COUNTDOWN.
This is good BUT doesn't mention what wages are here. So when working to survive, price is unknown! Minimum wage is about €17 p/h. 19-22 is concidered a 'living wage'. As someone who works 50 hour weeks at 19p/h, I can assure, it's expensive to live (especially eat well) here. So beautiful though. So it's worth the hard slog. BRING LOTS OF SAVINGS!! Especially if you like pubs..
As for wine, you can get some decent ones in supermarkets for $10, and 12 beers (decent imported and local) for around $20. Much cheaper than many European countries (especially Scandinavia...). If you want harder stuff, you'll have to go to a bottle shop/liquor store. Cigarettes are not cheap, expect to pay over $20 for 20. Coffee is more close to $5 and most will drink a flat white. Low fat being called "trim". The standard has come a long way since my first trip in 2004, and kiwis are pretty fussy about it, but depends where you go. As always, avoid chains but there's so many great Cafes that you shouldn't need to go there anyway. Keep your eyes out for suburban night markets in AKL for amazing cheap street food.
Katachuu houses are cheap down south, although they are rising. The average house price in Dunedin is $300,000-$400,000 for a 3 bedroom house compared to Auckland which is $800,000+
YES, Avoid Wicked Campers ! Because you think you pay less than normal but if you have any problems, their insurance covered basicaly NOTHING. And also their rooftop tent is TERRIBLE (not waterproof at all and as it's always very windy in NZ, very LOUD).
why don't you recommend domestic flights? say if i'm planning a 3 week trip to NZ, 1 week in the north island and 2 weeks in the south, wouldn't it be cheaper and faster to fly from auckland to queenstown or christchurch rather than taking a bus to wellington, crossing by ferry, and then another bus to queenstown?
It's far cheaper to take the bus or hitch. Flights can get insanely expensive. It costs me more to fly domestically, than it does for me to fly to Australia and back.
I always find it interesting to see other perspectives from people from different countries. On that specific matter, I was soooo happy to fly from Auckland to Wellington(as an example) for like 70$ bucks or something haha Why? I'm not joking, in my province(Quebec...which is in Canada) to go to a city called ''Sept-Îles''(10 hours drive north from Montreal(where I live)...it can go high as much as 800$ ONE WAY...on ''discounts''? 400$....that's why I always go by car instead...flying in my own country is a complete rip-off so I was amazed when I took some flights to move around in NZ!
I might be in the minority over here but some prices aren't that expensive. Maybe I see it like that since I'm from a country where EVERYTHING is expensive in the first place :D
Really informative, thanks I’m planing to visit New Zealand, my only interest is hiking, so are those camping sites are close to the hiking sites or not? And which month do you recommend my visit be in according to my interest and the less crowded one?.. Thanks ahead!
Does anyone have ANY tips on a good travel insurance to get while I do my year abroad in New Zealand? I am accident prone, I want something that can cover basic clinic visits too, not just emergency room. Something affordable. Thankyou!
Hey, I know USD is going to be different than the rest of the world but these prices seem reasonable, in fact it is about the same as living in upstate NY. Also $1 USD at time of post is equal to $1.50 NZD so your money travels pretty far. Vehicles will be a challenge.
hey can you help me and my mate? were planning to go to nz but the two of us is below 21. From what we read, to be able to rent a car one must be 21 or older. any suggestion?
Thank you for all the excellent content and info you provide. It is really helpful! I have a request. How about a video about meals and food when backpacking, since this can be a really expensive!!
Eating out can be expensive here but who wants to eat out every night. Paknsave is one of the best stores on price countdown second and depends on what you like to eat and what town or city you in price will differ a little. I'm sure she mentioned them as well as $5 pizza either pizza hut or dominos. I can have takeaways (fish & chip shop) $7 without chips as i don't eat them. When you are walking down the street you can always stop someone and ask them what is in their town I'm sure they be happy to guide you the right way. Every town is different. Hope you had an awesome stay.
+Paul Schackert I think she over estimates how much cars cost the prices are very similar to the UK for used cars. 2500nzd will get you a decent car you just have to be careful as a lot of backpacker cars don't get serviced etc. Buying off a local that has had the car serviced etc is a much better option. It's defiantly worth buying a car if your here for a year as good as buses are all of the best places are off the beaten track.
+Jason Bushby I'm am in Auckland now, we will rent a car and go to hobbiton. Any tips on where to go on the way back, or just other places that we should visit around auckland?
max perkinson but charge you extra for sauces. Pizza Hut sauces are free as well as herb/Parmesan and garlic etc. Example: Hawaiian w BBQ sauce base Sauce swirl Chilli sprinkle Dominos - $7 Pizza Hut- $5
other way around bro, sauces at dominos are free, pizzahut charges for sauces. but the only sauces you need are mayo and bbq so all good if u wanna throw in that extra dollar at pizzahut
queenstown is very expensive because of all the people traveling, if you have an activity you want to do and are traveling all of nz do some googling and do it out of queenstown!!
It's funny how she blames the cost of cars on the fact they are imported. I'm guessing it's just the size of our economy. Cars were WAY more expensive back when they were made here (up until the early 90s) Now most cars are imported second hand from Japan and are much cheaper. Compare the prices against Australia, where (I think) they still have import tariffs, at least until they shut down all their manufacturing soon.
A hot pie is the best value food in NZ. Cambodians are the best pie makers. My favourite is steak & kidney, that is a fantastic meal, costs about $3.50 i think. Basic mince pie is about $3. You didn't mention fish and chips, that's also quite good value.
you can buy cheap cars that will last a while for about $1500 you just have to know we're to look ask local people,i brought a cheap car cost $1400 had it for 2 years
5000 for a car? That's not correct at all 2000 will get you a decent car in New Zealand. Never have a ever spent 5000 on a car. I've spent as little as 500 and as much as 4000 for a really nice car. Both of these have been up and down the country several times no issues. But that said having 5000 saved is always a good idea just in case something does go wrong
I did have ine question, on average how much would a single person spend on groceries per week living in a city like Auckland or Queenstown? Thanks again!
+Alex Zhitnik I live in Auckland and personnaly spent around 60$ a week. It can be less when I have time to go to the small market next to my place where I can find very cheap fruits and vegetables.
Nz minimum is at 18 or 21 already supposed to up to 22....aus is what 17 or 18.....but what kills nz is houses rent is okay even compared Ed to my country
i do shop at pak n slave,i do cook, rice is horrifically expensive. i also shop at fruitworld($3 box of fruit or veg). i eat what i like, not what is cheapest. when it comes to food and especially coffee, you have to consume what you like. bread is cheap enough to buy-$1 for grain bread at pak n slave. some things are not worth skimping on. thats like renti g a shemale on Kroad because its cheaper than a female
Tips from a New Zealander... Always shop at Pak n Save and try to go when they have sales like Wacky Wednesday, etc. You'll see it advertised big in yellow. yes... park and save is much cheaper than countdown.
Why am I watching this when I'm from New Zealand. Hahaha
Hahahahahah same 😂

the3lusive used of course. if you know about cars, you can get a perfectly decent one even if it's older
Caitlin seems like people in NZ are pretty honest. in UAE I'd have to shell out at least 10000nzd after haggling
buy a cheap car off Trademe or the local car facebook page in your area. make sure it has a warrant of fitness and a current registration. if its diesel you need to make sure it has current road user miles on it.

well, there's nature :D but yes, it's easy to find a campsite (free ones too!) with apps like wikicampsNZ

not cities

There isn't a four square in my town

I won't! I had several English travellers stay in my flat. They stole our towels, food (males), and towels, clothes, makeup and toiletries (females). Also they wear shorts and tshirts in the winter then run up the power bill over $600.
@_Daddy_Tae_
She said most "Kiwis", I was talking about english tourists. Learn to read
Domestic flights between $30-$60?!? Madness. It's much more expensive than that
Brannigan Farnsworth if you book months in advance
grab-a-seat specials are cheap, between $1 and $40 one way
If you use jetstar it can be very cheap $40 would be high already
Thank you for this video! I will be going to NZ on the work holiday visa in a couple of months & this definitely helps with my planning.
Hi, how was it?
Ten Twelve Two Travel come to my Ukraine WhatsApp +380988540760
Ta!
I'm from New Zealand. There are no more trolley buses in Wellington.
I'm curious what pizza store you went too 😂 char grill? sals pizza? hells? mhmm yeah currency is so different compared to US
+Charllote Malik We stayed in Queenstown and someone recommend the Fat Badger. Lots of food, decent prices.
+Judy Vanderploeg Fat badger 😍 they use to sell tacos and nachos there..they were so good! that's cool that the prices are still the same
So how much did you save and how long was that for?
freedom camping is banned in new Zealand now. about 6 to 9 dollers for a basic campsite.
Dnkt...I Knew lotr
it depends where you go for the bungy, at the kawarau bridge bungy is $195, the ones that's 270 is the Nevis because you have to be transported there by the company.
I live in NZ, I agree with everything except the car. You can easy get a decent car for $2500. Mine was $2600 and it's ran great for the last 2 years
Sara Vercoe my sister got a 89 Corolla for $400 and it's been running fine for 3 years and has been through 2 crashes
hi im looking to move to new zealand frm south africa. Please can someone tell me a few thinks .
like getting a job and std of living
I brought my car for $3000 its been running for 10 years and still going strong.
just a quick question.. , i'm from Malaysia btw.., Is travel budget around RM 10 K / 3500 CHF is enough for around 1 week? For 4 people. Not including airplane tickets.
Holy shit your channel is great . Looked in the description and everything was there . I’m from nz and it’s all there . Good job
Living in NZ is expensive, food
Renting , electricity, drinking and eating out
Transport
Clothes etc
Very hard for kiwi families make their ends
Traveling is different
Wow.... that counts me out.
I feel like that might be more one part of nz
I feel like difficulty making ends meet is becoming global for regular people with regular jobs, definitely here in US
Mohe sierra come to my Ukraine WhatsApp +380988540760 I am always friend ship you really
Helpx is another way of keeping costs down for accomodation. Free bed and meal in exchange for some help around the dwelling.
The exchange rate is higher now ($0.75 USD to $1NZD) and gas is cheaper, but anything related to owning and automobile is really, really expensive.
my friend: hey how was the party yesterday
me : sweet as bro
my friend: Sweet as what? 😂😂😂😂😂
new zealand pride
Depleting | Minecraft PvP and Texture Packs cheers 😃
Lol you know someone most likely isn't a new zealander what they ask 'what is sweet as?' or 'sweet as what?'
Lol my kiwi friend said one time sweet as and I continued saying peas coz I didn't know!
Can be worse:
Lady: "Can we do things this way?"
me: "Yeah Sweet as"
Lady: "Excuse me! My name is not sweet arse!"
Nice tips! Love your quirky style! Just a friendly heads up on the freedom camping: most freedom camping areas will require you to have a self-contained vehicle i.e. a camper with a toilet in it. Best to look up where you want to freedom camp before you go parking up randomly. And car rental prices soar in summer - best to travel in shoulder seasons ;)
great video and you started right away you did not waste words . Thanks so informative😃
$10 a pint? Which beer is this? Have lived in nz for 20 years, never paid $10 a pint!,,
Also kiwi here, probably a craft brewery, since they are all in vogue for travellers and damned expensive.
That's normal for a bar in town ( I live in CH CH)
That's normal for Auckland
kiwijustcarol that's around the norm in Auckland lol. But also you can get a jug/handle for about the same. Lol
kiwijustcarol Auckland expensive asf!
Coming from a new Zealander and aucklander search up Auckland transport if you want to take a bus train or ferry if you are in auckland train comes every 10 minutes 💖
Note: Auckland museum is expensive but is free if you are an Auckland resident and have proof.
you dont even need proof, just give a random auckland address. Done it before
always hit grocery stores bigger ones easy in morning and buy all deals. meats cheap animals eat grass. those punk ins/ squash so good you can just eat that as well .. so good . gonna import seeds . haha.
i lived on wine . under ten bucks bottle . haha .
So just bring some extra money.
great video! It really helped us to prepare for our 1 year New Zealand trip!!
Great video! love that your intro was short and to the point
Nice to see some travel tips :), I like the vlog but travels tips with the background music etc definitely my favourites
Especially if you like pubs..
cut the cost of plane tickets out,can 2500 US dollar cover 10 days new zealand trip?
no excessive shopping,no fancy hotel,etc...
The one With force yeah thats pretty good
As for wine, you can get some decent ones in supermarkets for $10, and 12 beers (decent imported and local) for around $20.
Keep your eyes out for suburban night markets in AKL for amazing cheap street food.
if you are staying long term in a back packers they do a deal not charge you full wack every night
taxis are expensive in nz they have a meter that goes up extremly horrible if they get stuck at a red light the meter keeps going up!!
Its expensive for people visiting, but also for a lot of people in NZ also. Especially the car thing.
and houses :/
The houses are fucking expensive
We dont have a car here, and we are getting kicked out so on 4 days we are going Australia because its getting so much expensive for us
Katachuu houses are cheap down south, although they are rising. The average house price in Dunedin is $300,000-$400,000 for a 3 bedroom house compared to Auckland which is $800,000+
Ouch, where I live in the US, I can find houses all day long for less than $150,000 NZD.
Where should I hire a sleepervan? What is the best?
Its expansive , i know because i stayed in Auckland for six month and return back to Melbourne for good.
manar mughal Auckland is more expensive than most of nz
Most multi grain bread is between $3-$5
papeto the baby cow couplands $1 multigrain breaf
Thanks for the good information. I'm planing to go to New Zealand next year. 🙏🙏🙏
how much did the trip cost overall and how much should you start with while traveling NZ?
Museums for New Zealand Residents are free entry btw
YES, Avoid Wicked Campers ! Because you think you pay less than normal but if you have any problems, their insurance covered basicaly NOTHING. And also their rooftop tent is TERRIBLE (not waterproof at all and as it's always very windy in NZ, very LOUD).
Hey PsychoTraveller... just out of curiosity.. how much did you spend each day (on average) whilst in NZ? (in NZD)
Thank you. I'm studying more about New Zealand culture since I'll be working there for a year (at least). You're videos have been very helpful.
Newsflash,NZ is expensive for tourists. They get fleeced.
Try being a permanent resident here, very hard to make ends meet.
why don't you recommend domestic flights? say if i'm planning a 3 week trip to NZ, 1 week in the north island and 2 weeks in the south, wouldn't it be cheaper and faster to fly from auckland to queenstown or christchurch rather than taking a bus to wellington, crossing by ferry, and then another bus to queenstown?
I'm from NZ and your pretty much spot on with all that. It is expensive here
I might be in the minority over here but some prices aren't that expensive. Maybe I see it like that since I'm from a country where EVERYTHING is expensive in the first place :D
Really informative, thanks
I’m planing to visit New Zealand, my only interest is hiking, so are those camping sites are close to the hiking sites or not?
And which month do you recommend my visit be in according to my interest and the less crowded one?..
Thanks ahead!
November to March = summer. Some camp sites are near trails / tracks. Some are not. Check out on line
Your Eye Pupils are capturing.
Vehicles will be a challenge.
buy camping gear, hitchhike and you'll have heaps of stories and a lot of fun for as cheap as 10 NZD a day
works from September to May
LOVE hearing the bird in the background
hey can you help me and my mate? were planning to go to nz but the two of us is below 21. From what we read, to be able to rent a car one must be 21 or older. any suggestion?
as someone who used to live in NZ I love this!
Sophia Alexandra come to my Ukraine WhatsApp +380988540760
Or you just find some good bugger and crash at theirs lol
"the bros" :P
Hey, are you Talking about an Already used car? Do you know how much an used, small car (for one person) coasts?
I'm planning to stay for one year, so is it wort it to but a car?
+Paul Schackert I think she over estimates how much cars cost the prices are very similar to the UK for used cars. 2500nzd will get you a decent car you just have to be careful as a lot of backpacker cars don't get serviced etc. Buying off a local that has had the car serviced etc is a much better option. It's defiantly worth buying a car if your here for a year as good as buses are all of the best places are off the beaten track.
+Jason Bushby I'm am in Auckland now, we will rent a car and go to hobbiton. Any tips on where to go on the way back, or just other places that we should visit around auckland?
+a Haraldh download the wiki camps app and look around the area your in I would definitely recommend corramandel and the bay of islands
+Jason Bushby okay, thank you!
Domino's is 20x better and they also do $5 pizzas
max perkinson but charge you extra for sauces. Pizza Hut sauces are free as well as herb/Parmesan and garlic etc.
Example:
Hawaiian w
BBQ sauce base
Sauce swirl
Chilli sprinkle
Dominos - $7
Pizza Hut- $5
Shyan Walker chilli flakes are free and sause swirl is 50c
They taste better and they also do Gluten Free pizzas
other way around bro, sauces at dominos are free, pizzahut charges for sauces. but the only sauces you need are mayo and bbq so all good if u wanna throw in that extra dollar at pizzahut
Max Perkinson nah pizza hut is goals 😂😂
queenstown is very expensive because of all the people traveling, if you have an activity you want to do and are traveling all of nz do some googling and do it out of queenstown!!
Traveling the cook strait $65!? Should have come to Bluebridge, only $53
It's funny how she blames the cost of cars on the fact they are imported. I'm guessing it's just the size of our economy. Cars were WAY more expensive back when they were made here (up until the early 90s) Now most cars are imported second hand from Japan and are much cheaper. Compare the prices against Australia, where (I think) they still have import tariffs, at least until they shut down all their manufacturing soon.
have you traveled to thames/coromandel yet?? i live there and the sight is amazing
Hot water Beach
A hot pie is the best value food in NZ. Cambodians are the best pie makers. My favourite is steak & kidney, that is a fantastic meal, costs about $3.50 i think. Basic mince pie is about $3. You didn't mention fish and chips, that's also quite good value.
Great, I am learning. Can I bring my own food good for two months from my country?
I brought an amazing ford focus here for 2500, definitely don't need to spend a lot
what accent do you have? are you Ok?
blaneysiktube I guess she's German.
sounds like a pom
She's British...
you can buy cheap cars that will last a while for about $1500 you just have to know we're to look ask local people,i brought a cheap car cost $1400 had it for 2 years
on the car thing, if your wanting just a run around and dont care if its old then all you need is about 2 grand!
How much does the eagle public transport system cost there?
I did have ine question, on average how much would a single person spend on groceries per week living in a city like Auckland or Queenstown? Thanks again!
+Alex Zhitnik go to any grocery store website based in the city and see it for yourself, we all like eating different things mate
+Alex Zhitnik I have included links to all the big supermarkets in NZ in the description box for you to check out :)
Got it, thanks again!
+Alex Zhitnik I live in Auckland and personnaly spent around 60$ a week. It can be less when I have time to go to the small market next to my place where I can find very cheap fruits and vegetables.
+Léa Olivia nice, yeah the prices look similar to where I live, good to know. chhers!
The food sounds cheaper than England, but the drinks sound more expensive.
Dont are about holiday accomdation!?What is youre on a pension from Australia?
What about housing near city on sth Island?
s.n/
So funny being Australian and hearing her say its so expensive when its actually a bit cheaper than it is here :(
Nz minimum is at 18 or 21 already supposed to up to 22....aus is what 17 or 18.....but what kills nz is houses rent is okay even compared Ed to my country
Is biking a good option to get around in New Zealand
When I went to rainbows end it was around 350 New Zealand dollars for 5 people
Hi, do you know anyone that's enjoyed couch surfing in the countries that you've travelled in?
i do shop at pak n slave,i do cook, rice is horrifically expensive.
i also shop at fruitworld($3 box of fruit or veg).
i eat what i like, not what is cheapest.
when it comes to food and especially coffee, you have to consume what you like.
bread is cheap enough to buy-$1 for grain bread at pak n slave.
some things are not worth skimping on.
thats like renti g a shemale on Kroad because its cheaper than a female
Thats good informative video thanks for sharing
How much is petrol and diesel compared to uk?
4 square is in most cities/towns not just small towns .-.
Pretty fair. She's using NZ dollars so not bad really.
It’s actually cheaper than that go to bayfair in Tauranga it’s a cheap mall really good
its expensive if u dont have a good job minimum wage is like $15.75
luke oneill now minimum wage is $18
