Nice. I pulled the V8 engine out of a Dodge van a few years ago and pulled it out through the door opening the same way. The shop manual said to remove the grill and support steel and pull it out the front. I just happened to remember a picture of someone pulling an engine out the side it in a van magazine from the 70's. I don't know if I would have figured it out on my own, worked slick.

Oh wow! I might by a "lot" of old van magazines from the 70s on ebay. That would be cool

I have a 1970 e300 with high fuel pressure i believe is coming from the tank. Replaced the upper and lower filler hose, fuel line, and fuel pump, but its still high pressure. It doesn't appear to have a canister. The carbs been rebuilt too. Any idea where the pressure might be coming from?

I wonder if its not venting like it should or something......what if you take the fuel cap off?

@@sircrunch80 Thx for suggestion. Tried it with the cap off. It will start and run for about 1 min or 2 with cap on or off then start to flood out the top holes of the carb. It has always smelt of gas before but got really bad when I topped off the tank too high. I ran it out of gas completely and it still does it when I just put in a couple of gallons. Maybe a valve is stuck some where? hmmm... I thought it might be a canister issue but doesn't seem to have one. Watching you take a part your van kind of confirmed that. Didn't see one on yours either.

The rust seems concentrated to one area

Yes... this is the one time i wish somebody had stolen the battery out of the van 23 years ago! I imagine this area would be much cleaner if someone had done us that favor. 😎
