I have the Peak Design Sling and a capture clip on the side which together holds everything I need for 90% of my shooting: my Sony a7ii, 16-35mm Zeiss f4, and the G Master 24-70mm and 70-200mm, 4 spare batteries, a memory card holder, cloths, lens fluid and a mini rocket blower. I can even attach a tripod to the outside straps when i'm out doing landscapes. Best piece of non-camera kit I own.

Jason and company...Great and fun video...I just got the Slide and Clutch, and I am using them in tandem. There's enough room to attach both, and with the quick releases,if you don't want the strap or want to leave the strap on me and disconnect the camera to use the Clutch,i can..SOOO comfortable, and now my big, heavy DSLR feels so light and easy...

About weight. I am a Canon shooter...well used to be.I bought Sony a7 rii with Sony 24-70 f4 lens last month. And I tell you it weights almost the same as my Canon 5D mark ii with Canon 24-105 f 4 lens. Canon feels a little more balanced with this combo than Sony. In any case I like my Sony so far. Trying to decide to keep my Canon lenses and use them with Sony or replace them little by little with E mount lenses. Thanks for video.
PS. I"ve got PD Everyday backpack 20 and love it! Fits my Sony camera and lens plus Manfrotto Pano Head leaving space for couple of lenses or jacket. Sits just right on my shoulders, and it looks great too.

Love their product. I have the messenger bag for weddings, and it's so damn good. Plus my thinktank three lens bag was dated. Bonus, brides, and bridesmaids complement it. Any added love to your style/professional look is gold.

I have the Clutch on both my Sony bodies. Once you get used to it, you feel naked without. They stabilize the camera when you are shooting and they do not let the camera fall when you are not. I tried different straps. PeakDesign has the best.

Since the Blackrapid strap uses a hook clasp you could just tie a small piece of paracord to one of the strap mounts and attach it that way. Or if you have the standard Manfrotto mounting plate it has a small D-ring you can clip it to.

I have owned them from Kickstarter in 2015 and only registering and unboxing them now, thank you for a few moments touching on each of them and telling me the significance of the red plate over the black ones. To imagine I thought I'd have to buy a spare plate, but with Capture pro, SlideLite and Clutch, not to mention their travel tripod I also go on KS, I have plenty of plate for like iPad tripod mounts and the like. I do need to do more than just buy on kickstarter, I should learn how to enjoy what I get as opposed to being overwhelmed and leaving it in the closet ... bloody mental disorders!

I have use my clip with Canon 5d Mark IV and Canon 100-400mm so it's not just for small cameras and lenses. Just turn the tripod collar to the other side and have it plate on camera and it's ok.

I'm sure someone else has said this by now, but the standard capture plate is at least mostly arca swiss compatible, as far as I'm aware, so there's options if you don't want to get a different plate or don't want to go with Manfrotto's system. I'm still too afraid to try the clip myself, and prefer the wrist strap over the hand strap. Not sure when that came out though, for all I know it was after this video.

The capture clip looks great. I use a hand strap, and I’ve gone thru all the major brands of hand straps. For me, the peak design is a bit too tiny and it feels like it’s gonna slip off of my hand. I prefer the Spider strap; it’s fatter, all leather, and more comfortable for my hand.
The Capture Clip makes a lot of sense, tho. It’s awfully dear, but I’ve tried a couple of other fast release systems, i.e., Spider, and they’re, for the most part, pretty clunky. there appears to be a lot of thought behind the system, so, Imma try it.

It will kill your shoulder in a few hours. Took this bag to Spain with 5div with 24-70. Sometimes with a 16-35 f4. So I kept it 60% full and it was not comfy. Can’t change to the other shoulder because the strap cannot be reversed.

How well do you think all 3 products would work together if used at the same time. I do photography pretty casually but I have a D500 with the battery grip so it is quite heavy. I like having the Slide for drop protection and weight dispersion while the Clutch is good for stability. I wanted to also use the Capture clip on one of the sling bags or on my belt so that it isnt swinging around but I feel, due to the other attachments, that it may be quite awkward. What are your thoughts?

  • @melaningod1865

I had Black Rapid strap for several years, I never screwed that bottom part into my camera I just used the hook that the screw went into and used it through the D ring on my tripod plate. If I wouldn't have I would have went nuts having to take it on and off all the time. I gave it up for the hand strap. Really thinking I need to go from Spider hand strap to the peak design tho for eas of taking off and on.

Useful video. Thanks. Just so you know though, the pro clip doesn't mount on ALL RC2 tripod heads. I have the Manfrotto 494 Center Ball Head and the Peak Design Pro Plate and they are not compatible, sadly. I believe it does work with MOST RC2 tripod heads though.

You mounted your Capture too high on your backpack. If you put it lower, you can carry the most heavy cam/lens combinations w/ a Capture w/ ProPad, e.g. an a7II w/ an EF 300mm f/4L w/ 1.4x converter on a Metabones IV. I use this setup all the time while riding my MTB w/o any problems :-) I also use the Slide w/ the EF300, turning the tripod mount 45° and mounting the PD tripod plate on it for the second Micro Anchor www.flickr.com/photos/mike-mkvip/34195640260/ - very convenient to carry w/o any swinging at all and very easy to grab the cam. Same setup for my Sigma 2.8/150 Macro on the a6300.

Very interesting video. I just recently got a nice starter dslr camera and I wanted to have something that makes it easier to move around in and carrying it and easily hook up to my tripod. I looked around online and on TH-cam on reviews but haven't found to my liking until I came up to your video. It seems this may be the deal for me to save up for next month. Like your video, well informative, a bit funny and most of great video. Kudos to you. Cheers!

are you planning on making an updated peak design accessories vid? the capture clips up to v3 now i think. the everyday messenger got upgraded too i think? and PD has a tripod on the way.
oh and if you know off the top of your head, could you tell me difference between the everyday messenger v1 and v2? I think I ended up with a v1.X or something. Some parts of it look like v2 and some seem more like v1.
Oh also, I need to buy some more capture clips. It's getting annoying always having to take it off and put it on different bags. sooooo yea, if you have referral links or whatever for capture clip v3's or even older ones on sale or something, i'll use your link.

Ayee I know exactly where that was. DB. I'm thinking on getting the capture clip v3. Would you recommend v3 at the retail price or a v2 for roughly 20$ cheaper? I'm planning to attach it to my Wandrd 21 bag for my trip to Yosemite next month.

Hey Jason, what do you think of the clutch for the A6500? I've been seeing that it might not be a good fit as you can't really reach the shutter button?

I bought a capture pro for my EDB, and for the life of me could not get it to mount on those padded shoulder straps. were you able to source some longer screws for it, because no matter how hard I tried to compress the padding, the capture would not mount.
