Zach's tracking skills following smaller players from the top of the key and timing his jumps to block or interfere with their shots is impressive. he's much more athletic than given credit for and if you followed him in college you can see his athleticism improving year over year
Edey is who i got my eye on in this draft. Cant believe people believe he isnt going to dominate. Edey is straight feom the big man era and the grizzlies need to feed him the ball. Elite big man paired with ja morant could be pretty scary

If Larry Bird was playing in college today, scouts would have labeled him a late second rounder. It's hilarious that the most dominant player in the NCAA wasn't coveted.
@@bthemonarchExcept he wasn’t labeled a late second round choice. He was the 6th overall pick after just two years at Indiana State. So, please explain?
That's how the league has been this entire century. Scouts prioritize athleticism and delusion of potential over skill. That's why so many Europeans go so late if drafted at all.
Ummmm... Yao can barely walk anymore. So he's not "working out" with any NBA level player, especially one so big as to permanently injure Yao by accident.
His struggles to know when to know to call for the ball can come from his time in Purdue being the number 1 option and only playing organized basketball 6 years ago. I am confident he will figure it out and how these preseason games have gone the rest of the league should be terrified about him improving
There are 2 different players I saw on those videos I don't think would have been on the court if Edey wasn't. Teams are putting lesser talented players to match up with him size wise; huge advantage for Memphis.
I so wish my team had gotten a chance to get Zach Edey. He's exactly what my team needs. His passing seems on point, and that skyhook is unguardable! As good as he already is, he would say that he still has tons of room for development. With all that size and strength, he seems to have good balance, in that he doesn't hit the ground much if at all--like Embiid does. Therefore, I don't foresee him being injured as much as most other big men. I hope he's working on expanding the distance of his shots though. It can only help him and his team to also be a threat from at least mid-range to open up some driving lanes for teammates cutting to the basket for an easy layup. If Ja can stay on the court, this team should go far into the playoffs.
@@federicofregosi8988 he actually can also score with a left hook he just doesn’t use it as often because his right is stronger…in time he will show you some spin moves off the post to dunk…which he uses when defenders hedge their defense to keep him from his hook spot
He will be a great NBA player. He just started playing competitive basketball 7 years ago. 7 Years ago... He is the two time reigning NPOY in the NCAA and has demonstrated he is extremely coachable. He will continue to grow and excel. Future is bright for this young man.
00:51 looked like he moved his hips well and stayed with the PNR while also contesting the perimeter. Steven adams made this grizzlies team a contender which isnt easy to replace but he can get there
I said before the draft that Edey would be the best player by far to come out in this class and I know I'm right. This idea that you can't have a big man playing in the low post offensively and jacking up a million 3 pointers per game is the way to go is about to be proven 100% false. He will easily average over 20 points and 12 rebounds this year and make a huge impact.
The problem is most NBA players are great athletes but have average basketball skill sets. This is why the current generation of players are not enjoyable to watch. This is why Caitlin Clark is so popular - she has one of the best (if not best) skill set in the WNBA. Zach Edey has a strong skill set but his teammates are not used to it. That's sad. If Zach had Bird or Magic, he would be dominating!

I realized that I missed watching low post offense these past few years. I have no connection to Memphis at all but I'll be rooting for him. Tired of watching step-back 3's and floaters to the rim.
Forget the "defense". Just watch how every time someone drive the lane they get introduced to the hardwood flooring. Statistics are irrelevant when analyzing Edey.
