      I have a one litre 2006 . Brilliant car , cheap road tax 30 quid a year , cheap insurance fully comp 33 a month and cheap to run petrol wise . Ive been on long trips on motorways and must admit a slightly bigger engine and car would be nice , but mainly i use it for short trips . Had it six years , very reliable. Even moved house with it . Three piece sofa on roof! Surprisingly spacious inside , im 6'4" , loads of room . Be sad when it finally packs up . Will keep till it does

      He talks rubbish with the seamless continuity of a good jazz horn player employing circular breathing. His ageism is pathetic to a degree which makes you feel sorry for him, really. Small cars are about brilliantly thought through 'compromise'. I test drove a 1.3 sirion and should have bought it actually ( my mistake as an impressionable youth). A precise steering, tenacious, well equipped little car with a terrific engine, when I got the chance to drive one...

• @Brainman_2331
      @Brainman_2331 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True. My parents bought one and only had to get new breaks - as all cars sometimes need - and a new trunk door because a huge truck was going backwards and smashed the window. Both fixes were always completely for free because the people who fixed it said it was a very quick process and they had the parts in stock already. My dad sold it to one of my friends in 2015 and my friends dad died under it in 2018 because he was inspecting the bottom of the car and the car lift stopped working and let the car fall onto him. The car is still running like a champ though. Same with the Daihatsu of my grandpa, except he didn't sell it and nobody died underneath it.

    Millionaire entertainer Hammond is incapable of giving a fair or even accurate review of cars in this segment.
    Others have pointed out his error about the Toyota engine fitted and he was too dismissive to discuss how the Sirion gives a high ride and is a boon to those who have mobility difficulties because one does not have to slide down into it. Perhaps Hammond made this video before his serious accident filming for TG -- which was his own fault.
    Unlike European made compact cars, the Sirion of this vintage has electric PAS with enough 'feel' through the steering wheel to avoid the vagueness, which was a problem on the early Yaris and later Aygo. Seat and steering adjustments are also superior, especially for drivers of short stature like he is.
    Because parts are shared with the same bin as Toyota they are cheaper than for any of the European cars mentioned and better made too. Body panels are also bolted rather than welded with the exception of the hatch frame and rigidity comes via the main struts and extremely strong roof.
    Suspension is better than the European brands mentioned and Korean cousins and the brakes are not 'grabby'.

    What a garbage review of these, like a lot of car reviewers or critics, they just say what they think the majority want to hear, so in the case of daihatsu, proton, daewoo and hyundais early days they spend the whole time using the age and badge snob jokes, you learn nothing about the car.
