    I had a 2010 Skoda Laura 1.8 TSI which I sold for 1,70,000/- after 9 years, 75,000 Kms. Steep depreciation, poor and expensive ASS (my personal experince) of Skoda are things that need to be considered in buying decision. Camry will run for decades and hundreds of thousand miles.

    Between these two I will pick Camry instead of Superb because it has nice wood finish, easier to maintain and not much refueling because of mileage. Rear seat is like a sofa lol.

    Lol main factor is after sales service etc. Toyota is bloody brilliant in after sales and very cost effective plus will last longer n have amazing resale value. Skoda is a RIp off in after sales. Ask any owners of previous superb or Octavia or any German cars for that matter. Why don't any reviewers talk about these factors it's really a mystery. I would buy Toyota over skoda anyday. Do ur ground research guys. These r equally known n valid facts.

      Sjay! I think the seven lakh rupees you save with your initial purchase more than make up for the little higher service cost

    • @mithunbaiju4255
      @mithunbaiju4255 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Let me clear something for you..BMW and Mercs will be heavy on the pocket if we take service cost. That doesn't mean that Maruti makes better cars. I have driven almost all the cars in this segment and let me tell you one thing, driving dynamics, built quality and overall appearance of Superb surpasses some cars in a segment above. Camry is ridiculously expensive. Almost 8 lacs more expensive that Superb's top end variant.
      Even if you have to spend 1 lakh every year on Skoda's service for 8 years (actually you spend 18,000 on a single service),you are still saving a lot of money on service. On the other hand Camry is a full import. Not a single part is readily available in any showroom(bother not to argue as this has been said my a Toyota dealership owner friend of mine.).You have to request parts and wait for it to arrive which usually takes around 2 to 3 weeks. Skoda is no good either but the waiting period is comparatively low.
      The Camry's engine for some reason feels not so good and when you drive the car it feels like a freaking lifeboat. For someone who daily drives a car, this would be really annoying.
      Once you drive the superb, you cannot really favour any other car in this segment other than Honda Accord but Honda's built quality is not that great.
      You just can't judge a car by the after sales service and value for sales after a few years. This car is built like a freaking tank and the interior feels like a BMW.
      If you are worried about after sales, go with maruti alto or perhaps you can purchase Tata indica or even ciaz.
      I have only seen such quality and fun to drive characteristics in BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes. But you have to spend at least thrice the amount you'd spend on getting a superb.
      Not a single enthusiast ever will say that superb is a bad car but most Camry owners know that their cars is not meant for the driver and for someone looking for a tough built quality, stylish design and high quality interior elements.
      Camry looks bland as compared to Superb and that's the reason why people aren't buying the Camry on the other hand superb is still the top selling car of skoda in India.

      Toyota, Suzuki, Lexus, Hyundai are best. Stick to Japanese companies and you will be safe. So called German engineering is bullshit, their cars break down every then and now and not to mention they are fucking expensive to maintain. You gotta have the money and foolishness to buy a car from Skoda, BMW, mercedes, etc. German cars are over engineered and require too much maintenance. And after sales is worst. People like Warren buffet still drive honda and here new rich people wanna flaunt money.

      Totally depends on where you live. I have seen people with Toyota cars cry for service in some areas and I have also seen some Skoda owners super happy with Ass. The dealer in my area particularly gives excellent ass as I have heard from lot of people. On the other hand ( and to prove my point ) the Honda dealer in my hometown, from whom we bought the car gave Excellent ass, but the one in my current town ( where the Skoda dealer is great ) doesn't give a shit and totally doesn't know how to treat customers or service cars. I always say that my experience with Honda has been good, but had I bought it from this town I won't be recommending Honda to anyone.
      It depends

    Comparing The Toyota corolla (cough.. cough.. ahm...) the camry to the skoda superb for people with real knowledge and experience in the automotive industry, is a joke at best. The Camry quality is quite close to the rubbish corolla (just with more bels and weasels). the Skoda Superb trounce it in every aspect you look: will it be road handling, the turbo petrol engine combined with the DSG gear box (originated 15 years ago on the track race for the uninformed reader), continue with the quality of material used throughout the cabin, and finished with the design. The architectural design with the Skoda superb exist, and looks great, while the Japanese Camry (like every Toyota out there) looks like a product of a first year student in industrial design faculty. the Japanese brands just don't know design at all. its not just the camry, its every car they make, apart than mazda which is better than japans average. the Skoda superb for the trained eye and trained engineer, worth about 50% more in terms of pricewise. the ridiculous pricing of the Camry in many parts of the world - India included (Israel here on my part) is due to trying to upmarket an otherwise a very basic commute product. here in Israel the Skoda superb outsells the Camry 20 to 1, and that concludes the story in 1 sentence -> what the actual customer thinks of those 2 cars. with 30 years experience in the auto industry, and frankly, after knowing many cars in my life including many Japanese cars, apart than reliability and second hand market value, they are inferior to the European and American automobiles hands down. they are crappie to drive, not fun at all, they are poorly plastically look and feel, and in general, buyers get them when they just want to arrive from A to B regardless of how they arrive. you will never find an experienced driver (that also likes to enjoy the driving), actually getting a Japanese econobox, and the camry (big or illusionly expensive) as it is, is in that group of Japanese econoboxes every aspect you touch or feel it, especially when driving it.

      A Y I have a 2011 Superb (petrol DSG) and I fully agree with you! I had Camry, Corolla, Accord and a Nissan 200SX in the 80's and 90's and my current Superb is the best ever car I owned. I never give my car even to the valet guys. As you said, no other car beats a Superb at this price point.

    The only problem I have with Toyota cars is that they look either so bland ( Etios and liva. Mostly Indian market cars) or so overdone ( almost any other Toyota around the globe ). Plus they price the cars ( in India ) like they have monopoly over the market or something. I agree that they are considered to be reliable cars. But when a company can do reliability right ( which is the difficult part ) I wonder why can't they do design right.

    People who are saying Superb is the best and buys superb, will come to senses after their fist paid service after warranty expire.
    I'm sure Superb is really superb and exceptional on road compared to Camry. But if you consider shitty service aspect from Skoda, Superb is a sore loser.
    I feel sad, such an amazing machine(Superb) gets spoiled by substandard 3rd grade quality after sales and service by Skoda.

      If the same review happens on used car(~4 years), Camry will be clear winner. But for new car comparison, Superb is a clear winner. If you are looking for longterm ownership, never buy skoda.

      Well the new car is lighter. Both the 1.8TSI and 2.0TDIs in their newer versions are powerful across the rev band. So performance should definitely be better with the new car unless you put old 3.6 FSI into comparison, which wouldn't be fair either.
      Agree that pricing has gone up, but that has happened to all vehicles priced in the same range as Superb earlier.

      That's something only someone who has no experience with either would say. The new one blows the old one away, in every aspect. It's not even close. New Superb is a better car than Audi A4 B8.

    Overdrive has just lost it these days. Quality gone down the drain. Almost every car review has factual errors. Getting the facts right is the least you can do. And does the 1.8 TSI not come with a 7-speed DSG automatic? Why is it mentioned as a 6-speed?

      @hirkankapadia8221 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The new superb comes with a 6 speed dsg instead of 7 speed unit!
      And the review was spot on classifying between the camry's chauffeur driven feel vs superbs all rounder with that extra oomph of spirited driving. So 👍 to Overdrive.
