Being of age and how to manage the sequence of returns in those early periods is what seems quite scary in the current market. The market is never a loser in a twenty year cycle, but the 2000s decade scenario scares me and could really disrupt my retirement. When you are no longer accumulating but withdrawing its hard to be anything but cautious.

I love how they spend all this money building homes only millionaires and billionaires, who are only 1% of the population, can afford rather than building homes for the majority of the population. And if the billionaires decide they don't want to invest in homes or an island there, then what? I guess they just sit empty. But whatever makes sense to you, I guess.

Actually not in Dubai’s case, the UAE is a federation of monarchies so each has it’s own economy and oil makes less than 1% of Dubai’s GDP.

    • @cellayth

No matter what they paid for this promotion, this property is a waste of money for the buyer….
They wanted 20 million dirhams and promised joke-able ROI of 20 years….. who knows if i am alive or dead after so long.
As you said, after spending 20 million, you can use it for a few weeks only during an year and then you will be asked to vacate your property.
Being Dubai. I can doubt whether you will be refunded your initial investment in full…so you can call it a loss. For nothing at all.
    Buy better properties elsewhere.
Use it as a vacation stay, pay for the hotel once in your life and move along, thats a better return on investment.

Wow, I wonder where they got the sand from since they can't use the sand from the desert, geez I certainly hope they aren't using sand from the bottom of the ocean where there are oysterbeds. You know those oyster beds that take carbon dioxide and make it to oxygen since you know we have too much carbon dioxide.

I would love to stay in one of the floating apartments. Hopefully they put that on Airbnb at some point in the future

I feel it is cool to be there for 1 night and then I would get bored and wish to go back to the mainland.
