    Other videos on utube didn’t discuss partially moving driveshaft out of the way, not totally removing tank from truck, being careful not to break rollover valves, close ups of complicated clips on fuel lines, changing out pump w/o totally removing filler neckband, priming lines and pump with partially rolling ignition 4 times!
    Thank you for being thorough, that is the right way to make a video.

      you said everything I was thinking, so I'll just say 'ditto what you said"
      I was dreading dropping the fuel tank, but he made it look pretty simple. Unfortunately, I just filled my tank yesterday. I'll have to syphon some out first.

    What a great video. Thank you. For the Do it yourselfers not totally necessary to remove the driveshaft. I did 2002 f150 4.2l. It was tight but doable.

    I was being charged over $400 for the pump and labor. I got a pump from ebay with lifetime warranty. Another mechanic was going to charge me $175 for the labor. He asked me if he could do it at my place I was like sure but he and his partner never showed. I looked at videos about removing the bed and I wanted to do that. But I saw your video and a few of my older friends told me is easier to just drop the tank. Well your video help me tons. I took a dive and went for it. I caught hell for a while cause I did it on my lawn well as you can imagine rookie here. my jack stands were sinking into the dirt. So is like I basically went under the truck with no Jack's at the end. It was uncomfortable but I used the jack to hold the tank cause it was heavy like yours but i was prepared and set the jack to like and inch under the tank to support it once it was going to drop. I couldn't remove the drive shaft so you can imagine what hell I went threw to get the damn connectors off same like yours. Well after a few hours and looking like I painted my self with charcoal from dirt I was successful. Thank you for taking the time to show this detailed video. If I ever have to do this ever again I'll do it on pavement 😆. Thanks a million I will call my issue fixed. By the way if anyone wants to know my truck is a f150 2002 extended cab xlt. The symtom was long crank time and will turn in intermittently sometimes would start fine. and no pressure on the shredder valve in the gas line at times. So I suspected the check valve was faulty and letting gas go back instead of stopping it at the check valve and leaving it in the line. All seems good now I saved a few bucks and I learned a thing or two. Once again thanks a million.

      I have the same exact truck. It simply will not start. The relay and fuse seem to be good and the inertia button is not depressed so all good there. I don’t seem to hear the fuel pump buzz when the key is in the on position so I’m assuming it went out. I’m dreading this damn job but I’m going to have to do it myself and in the grass as well because I live on 2 1/2 acres with no pavement for about 2 miles all dirt roads

      Hey my truck is a 2002 f150 4.6 v8, last summer around once a month it would act like it's running out of gas. It did this till tonight it went dead then took a minute to start, and half a mile from home it acts like it's running out of gas again. I'm guessing the pump is bad ?

    • @xkyoutlaw571

      @adamwright4969 do you have an engine light on now? I would use a scanner and see what codes is giving you and going from. There. Lack of power or almost stalling might be a misfire on a cylinder. A scanner would let you know more information. See what you can find out and post back.

      Hey guys it turns out my pump is fine it wound up being my cannister purge valve. I replaced it and all my lights and warnings on my dash went away and truck is fixed.

    After installing pump, check fuel pump pressure at idle to see if it conforms to specs. On my 2001 Ford F150 w/4.2l six, a good pump will read 40 psi at idle. If it goes below that, say 30psi, you'll have a very hard time starting engine, since the fuel injectors need at least 40psi to prime all the cylinders at startup. Although you can easily drive at highway speeds at 30psi but you need higher fuel pressures to start the engine.

    Well done on the close-ups and fuel line clip detail.
    You got a thumbs up just starting by saying you're not lifting the bed. I'm old as dirt! I ain't picking up no damn truck bed unless I'm building a flat bed.

      My truck has a spray-in bed liner, so that would be much more work to dig out the 6 bolts and it would ruin the integrity of the liner.

    this was significantly more difficult than just simply sliding the truck bed a few feet backwards...But this video was VERY good, gave me a great deal of insight, but i will definitely slide the truck bed back before doing it this way..too much work this way

    • @gd5848
      @gd5848 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bed removal is not for everyone. My bed has a spray-in bed liner, so the bolts are totally covered and not visible. The bolts look just like bumps in the liner. I would need to dig out the spray liner material from the bolt heads to get to the hex. That would take a bit of time and ruin the integrity of the liner, so not worth it. Some ppl have camper shells or drop-in liners and some have no assistance to lift the bed. So, this video is super helpful for many. I'm doing my pump today using this video's method.
      If you really look at it, the under the truck method is less work. The differences are: drop the tank method - remove 2 bolts for the tank straps, provide a support method (jack or stands) for the tank. Remove the bed method - remove 6 bolts for the bed, disconnect 3 different cable harnesses to the rear lights, remove the fuel filler neck/lines, get help to lift and move the bed. Yes, it's likely more awkward and uncomfortable under the truck, but for an hour or 2 of work it makes the job quicker and reduces the risk of damage to the bed/cab paint.
