Nice one Kim 👍 Great channel and this particular video was great too. Very upfront, honest and genuine ....you can't fabricate that sort of stuff and your videos stand out because of that. Keep up the good work, it's a pleasure to watch.
Hi Kim, I recently discovered your vlog from a shout out by Gary Gough, and I am really enjoying them. It is very encouraging that you are producing such good work from relatively modest equipment, an APS-C camera. Although I am sure you would love a FF camera, it shows folks that you don't need to have top of the range gear to produce great results. You are very inspirational, keep up the good work.
It was great to see that you use APSC equipment that many us also use. We don't all have an unlimited money tree and you have verified that you don't need the latest expensive full frame camera to achieve excellent results. I have another favourite landscape photographer who shoots micro four-thirds and his results further prove the theory that full frame isn't necessarily an absolute requirement. You have inspired me to do a bit more wandering into nature with or without a camera. The camera part (composition) is still the part I am working on, but appreciating the wide open spaces more has definitely hit home and your TH-cam presence has been a positive influence. I am not surprised you blew past 3,000 subscribers. Your subject matter is positive and upbeat and I look forward to each installment.
While I am some what of a gear wonk, I love the fact that you take awesome pictures without having all the latest and the greatest. It reiterates that it is more about what is in your own creative mind than what camera is sitting on your tripod. Also love your sincerity and honesty
Hi Kim, this is only the second video of yours I have watched and thoroughly enjoyed. You are a very articulate young woman and your willingness and enthusiasm to engage and share your journey with us all is very evident and infectious. I too like so many more love the work of Thomas Heaton and I was fortunate enough to have spent Saturday morning in his company when he delivered a very thorough biography that detailed his introduction into photography and his ongoing journey to approx 80 amatueur and I have no doubt some professional photographers in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He then set off with a smaller number out along the north east coast for an overnight workshop, the details of which I look forward to seeing on his return home. Is was his intention with his lovely wife Charlotte and doggie to spend a bit of down time whilst he was over here, for which I hope the weather was kind to them. Nice guy and very honest in what he says and does and I have learnt and taken away some very positive points from the day. Don't let the dissenters get you down, some have very little else to moan about in their tiny little worlds and nothing will ever satisfy them and some maybe are probably jealous. Keep up the good work, I loved your explanation of how better to blend with nature and we all to well know how very short life can be and I for one intend to make the very best use of it and live. I'm a subscriber and new fan, good luck and enjoy.
You are on TH-cam for all the right reasons. Having a passion for anything is the X factor! Agree 100% about Thomas Heaton, he is also my main inspiration in photography, Keep doing what you are doing, all the best from Australia.
Thank you Kim for the enthusiasm and discovery that comes with your videos! I started into photography, including processing, with a film camera and that was over 60 years ago. I am an Electrical Engineer, did use photography occasionally in my career, and Engineers can suffer from logic! I admit to being a fairly good camera and processing technician but I struggle with seeing a really good image and your well shared thinking process has helped me see things differently so there are going to be some better images. Struggling with mobility at the moment but, in my mind, I have been revisiting the local gravel pits, canal and rivers and have some new ideas to get out there and try. I share your love and enthusiasm for the outdoors , have backpacked several long distance footpaths and have enjoyed wandering over Rannoch Moor with tent and camera. Good luck, thanks again and I look forward to future inspiration from you.
A shout out from NYC! Whatever topics you post, I enjoy them all, Kim! And yes, you do inspire…especially inspired to get up in the wee hours on those chilly mornings to chase down a great sunrise. THANK YOU!!
I, as an 'oldie', am new to Landscape photography and you and a few others have inspired me greatly to get out and have a go. I love your style of vlogging and look forward to more. Well done.
Hi Kim. I am a bit of an oldie getting back into landscape photography. I enjoy all your videos whether landscape or not. Very happy to watch them all, I like your delivery style and the way you get your ideas over. I am glad you are getting so many good and positive responses. Best wishes for the future, your work gives me hope.
so I could not wait for your video to end before responding. I started my youtube channel to share my location and life style with my Ham radio friends. Now I seem to be hooked and expect to up grade my equipment this week. My research into the canon 77 d some how led me to your channel. Thank you so much for your candor and experience with youtube and photography. I look forward to exploring your work and with your inspiration pushing me, the wild and remote areas around the Navajo Nation in New Mexico USA.
Hey Kim, my wife and I love your channel. We have only seen a couple of your videos, but really enjoy learning from you. We have a Nikon D7100 as well, and I enjoy watching you put it to the test. It inspires me to get out and put my camera to the test. I been wanting to buy a full frame, but after watching your channel and the quality images you take, it's really put me at ease with what I have. Thanks to you, I've learned (still learning) that photography is much more than the camera. I look forward to your future posts! Cheers!
Keep up the good work Kim. I have been following your vlogs for a few weeks now, and have enjoyed them. Both you and the great Mr Heaton finally made me to set my alarm at silly o'clock and get out to photograph and vlog a sunrise myself, so thank you for the inspiration.
I used the D7100 for a long time before upgrading to the D750. D7100 is a very capable camera and I still use it for sports and wildlife when I need extra reach. If you are looking for an ultra wide for the D7100 I highly recommend the Tokina 11-16 F/2.8 which is a great value.
Well done on the Q&A. I have also been watching Thomas Heaton for quite awhile now. And you're right he seems very genuine in his videos and I like that you are also genuine. I love your enthusiasm. It takes a lot to put out a video to the world. Keep making videos. For me it makes no difference if it's just photography or if it's something you just want to share. Different perspectives can only enhance creativity. :D
You just have it - an easy and refreshing style, informative, just a little different from the usual and, clearly, content that is welcomed by many more than just me. Keep going and look forward to further success. Finally, thank you; you are helping me with my photography, muchley!
Hi Kim. Watching some of your old videos. Very interesting to here people's journeys and and see your progression. I too started my channel to give me motivation to get out with the camera.
I think you were still under 20 subscribers when I first subscribed to your channel. I’m not at all surprised you have 3,000 subscribers, your enthusiasm is amazing and you inspire others to notice the wonderful world around them. You have an amazing passion that is worth more than any full frame camera, it makes you get out to make images which a full frame camera doesn’t always do. Great Q&A and congrats on the 3k.
Congratulations on achieving 3K subscribers. And this vlog is extremely inspiring. I can see why some have said you remind them of Thomas Heaton, your energy, enthusiasm, integrity and motivation to grow are equally alike. I was impressed by the questions people asked and your responses. Wow!!!
Hi Kim, loved your flog, enjoyed everything you spoke about, and I am a great admirer of Thomas Heaton as a photographer, I took up photography late in life because it was something I wanted to do but never had the time, took a online photography course with a company in Anstruther in Fife, and have never looked back, enjoy everything I do taking photographs, landscape in particular. I wish you every success for the the future, its a great start to a long and successful photographic career, doing something you love .
Kim - I found your channel a couple weeks ago and have become a great fan! It's interesting that you name Thomas Heaton as an inspiration - he is one of the first photographers that I started following on TH-cam and he has inspired me to begin my own channel. You are well-deserving of your following and I look forward to each of your videos. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
At this point there was 13 thumbs down thts unlucky for some!.....how people can give you a thumbs down to your blogs I dont know, in recent months you have been coming over as the most enthusiastic and honest person on here! Well done.....
Congrats on 3K subscribers Kim! It's easy to see why your videos have taken off the way they have. You're engaging and come across as genuine (which means you probably are! lol!). I don't know what it is about you Brit vloggers, but I prefer watching a Brit doing photography (You, Simon Baxter, Thomas Heaton...etc.) than an American. ha! Best wishes and congrats again!
Hi Kim, as I'm housebound because of my wife's illness, I find when I feel down I watch one of your Vlogs and it instantly makes me feel a lot better.... Love your feel for nature... Keep at it Kim, I think I can safely say, we are all behind you....
Thanks for the honest and inspiring video. I discovered you because of Thomas Heaton and enjoy how simple and relatable the two of you are. Keep it up!
Love your videos I’m also a landscape photographer and yes I do put on my AirPods and enjoy listening to music that inspires me to see how I plan out my compositions. Keep up your good work and don’t allow the negative people to put you down. Aloha JC 🙏😊
Just found your videos.....love them! And....I also shoot with the Nikon D7100.....can wait to play catch up on all your videos. Thank you for your vlogs!
Well done Kim. By the way don't get too hung up on getting a full frame DSLR. I have both full frame and crop sensor Nikon cameras (D810 and D500) and the crop camera is just fine as was the D7100 I used to own. Full frame cameras weigh a tonne, especially the lenses! Yes the full frame sensors are less noisy vs ISO but unless you are cropping in heavily, for say wildlife photos, it's not really an issue. The important thing is getting out and doing stuff and you seem to be doing that just fine!
Hi Kim. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy all your videos. I love the non photography ones on nature just as much as the photography ones so please keep them coming. I was glad to hear you wanted to come and take photos in Pembrokeshire which is where I am from. It is fantastic here and there are so many things that I think you would love. The seascapes are amazing but there are also dramatic hills and nature reserves almost everywhere you turn. Just this year I've watched pairs of Otters near Cardigan, Kingfishers and so many other wonderful things. My next project is to try and photograph Grey Seal pups which are around in large numbers at the moment. Lets hope you manage to get down here soon. Once again thank you for the videos they really do inspire me to get out there. Elaine
As another of your early subscribers, Congrats on the 3K! You are doing a fantastic job with your channel Kim. In the male dominated world of vlogging, I find your videos refreshing and indeed inspiring. Bravo 👏🏻 Keep up the hard work!
Kim, I've just found you while roaming around searching woodland photography, love the way you present your videos and the honesty within them. I'm hooked so carry on the great work. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Great set of Q&A;s and thanks for answering my question. The Scotland Big Picture project sounds interesting. I'll check it out. Congratulations on beating your subscriber target too. Looking forward to the next video
Hi Kim. It's good you finally made a "What's in my Bag" video. I'm too a Nikon guy. I own the D7100 as well and a D750 FX. I like shooting landscapes too and I use the D7100 90% of the time. Paired with a tokina 11-16, Sigma 17-50, and sigma 50-150 Os, I got myself an f2.8 trinity DX lenses. You're right, FX cameras are way too expensive and sometimes they tend to have issues more than mid range DX nikon cameras. My D750 have been recalled twice already because of the shutter issue. D7100 can do the job really well so i'm planning to sell my D750 to get a D7500 or D500 to replace it someday. "Full Frame is better" myth no longer appeal me. with today's Technology, DX cameras are getting better and better. Stick to your D7100! also, I am waiting for your Autumn Landscape photography video, How i wish we have four seasons too.. hehe ( I live in the tropics). If you'd like to see some of my work, please feel free to visit my website: www.beyondhorizons.com.ph thank you!
Hi Kim! I only recently found out about your videos. Really enjoy them. Your enjoyment of photography, zest for the experience of travel, and accent, are all amazing. Keep up the good work, I'll keep watching.
Hi Kim,I really enjoy your blogs you come over really friendly and honest and great photos as well,I agree Thomas is brilliant and I watch him all the time but now I am watching you as well so well done👏
Great videos Kim and keep up the good work. I really like that you mix things up in term so content.....its original and gives you a real USP for your channel rather than the many many 'Tom Heaton-like' videos popping up of late. Not knocking the people producing those but your channel brings a fresh and new feel to an ever increasingly saturated area of TH-cam. Good on you!
I found your channel by Thomas Heaton doing a "who I watch on youtube" vlog just yesterday....only to watch you talking about how he inspired you today. I love that. He is one of the top photography TH-camrs without a doubt (in my opinion) and to see you both sharing a passion and a mentality gives a big insight into what landscape photography is all about..... enjoying a good walk and interrupting it with the occasional photo. Hopefully this is something I can take on board in order to become more successful with my (landscape) photography.
The answer to my question was quite cool, Because in June of this year I actually visited the Pembrokeshire Coast! I spent 4 nights in Tenby (Was holidaying with my wife, My mum and my Step-dad, So didn't get to see as much as I'd like). But I did still leave with a really nice image of Caldey Island and it's lighthouse from the beach by Kiln Park (which is on my Facebook page). We are going back there next June too 😁😀☺️
Thank you for introducing me to the big picture initiative- gorgeous footage and interesting content. Not that I wasn't aware of human impact on my favourite country for holidaying, but more from a historical perspective than an ongoing ecological one. So you have reached one person becoming a bit more aware today! Congratulations on a flying start with your channel and with the risk of sounding motherly I really look forward to following you in your journey, with whatever content suits your own goals, not anyone elses!
Hello Kim, congratulation for your work. The message that you give, I think you are very honest. I kind feel identify with you. I also get very inspired by Thomas Heathon videos, and thanks to him I found you! We share the passion for landscape photography and conservation and I am also introvert. In fact, I am a biologist. Since a was 17 I was passioned about nature and photography, my dream was becoming a National Geographic photographer. However, I decided to study biologist to know better the natural world and how it works. Unfortunately during that time, I couldn't study photography. After I graduate my mother and boyfriends gave my first dsrl, a Nikon 3100. Since then I´ve been learning about photography and doing a PhD about landscape ecology. That is why a couldn´t spend my whole time to photography. Next year I hopefully finished my Ph.D. I have to make the big desition of continue in the scientific world or becoming a photographer. I hope I could do both. I just need to find the way! Thank you because you encorage me to follow my dream. (Sorry about my english, I am from Argentina).
Kim, great Q&A, very well presented and I believe you covered all bases👍 Congratulations on passing 3000 subscribers, huge achievement 👍 I for one will continue to watch all your posts on here and elsewhere. Thank you 🍾
Congrats on the 3k subscribers. I love your vlogs and your photos. Your enthusiasm and passion shines through and is inspirational. Definitely agree with Thomas Heaton as a inspiration. Love his channel.
Just found your channel Kim, great content and a change its not all about high end equipment. I am from Pembrokeshire and it’s coast is lovely. Look forward to more videos. Stephen
The very first video from your channel that I watched, I commented 'lady thomas heaton' and coincidently Thomas is your biggest inspiration. Like to see you with Heaton on same photography trip.👍👍
Hi Kim Just discovered your videos and have to say very impressive. When in Scotland perhaps my favourite locations are The Trossachs, Glencoe and Skye. Keep up this good work.
Thanks Kim. Great video. I use a D7100 as well and find it does a great job for me. You mention some other photographers for inspiration, but I think you're well on your way to doing the same for others. Keep up the great work!
Kim, love your content! keep going. I first came to your channel because Thomas Heaton put you as suggested video of the week. But now I keep coming back for your content
Thanks for an inspiring vlog - only watched a little bit but will certainly will watch more of your videos. Very helpful with your Q&A as I am just starting vlogging myself. You have a gerat appreciation for nature and the environment and that is certainly an important aspect of getting the right captures! And congrats with successful and growing youtube channel - at the moment 9,8K subscribers!
I love the content! You're fun to watch, and your accent is great! I just purchased a Nikon Z6 a couple weeks ago and I'm loving it. I came from a D750 and a Fujifilm X-T2.
Hi, I’m a new subscriber via Thomas Heaton. I have been looking for a female photographer to follow and I am very happy to have found you. Wild camping and lugging heavy equipment has its problems . I am a beginner and want to learn as much as I can from you. I like your style already.
Kim, very refreshing to find one of these videos about photography by somebody who isn't swimming in thousands of pounds worth of gear. I have to take issue with you though about your comment that cameras are getting cheaper. New stuff has gone up in the UK since we dared to vote to come out of the EU, and the pound was devalued as a punishment. And second-hand gear has gone up noticeably too. I do look forward to seeing what you can do with your more modest equipment.
really enjoyed both vlogs this weekend Kim lovely sunrise, and in this blog so natural and friendly as I type this you have over 3.4 k subscribed and its easy to see why. For me definitely Tom Heaton like stunning lol ,keep up the good work
Congratulations Kim :) And I'm hooked now & will watch all your video's whether photography or nature conservation. Really interesting & fascinating stuff. Great Q & A , really good to hear how you got started & what drives you :) Debbie
I love your Vlogs whatever the subject..... Your subscriptions have increased greatly since this Vlog, now 11K.... It shows that you are interesting and can put it over brilliantly... Go girl....
Congrats on the 3+k subscribers. Loved the video very open and honest, and I think that is what makes your channel special, that's not to say others aren't, but it's one of the qualities that attracts people including myself to your channel. Anyway here's to the next 3k subs and keep up the great work.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ah, the D7100, my first Nikon camera before I upgraded to the D750. Still have fond memory of it and it's a great camera in good light, low ISO and in fact, I'd say that the image quality that came out of it was slightly sharper than my D750 (probably because the D750 has an AA filter). But I was afraid to shoot past ISO 1000 with it, and at ISO 6400, well, the chroma noise and banding (especially when pushing shadow) gave me PTSD (enough to also make me reluctant to shoot my D750 past ISO 1600, even the D750's still great at ISO 12800 and only starts to fall apart at ISO 25600). Overall, thought, if you want to upgrade and can get a D750 for 1500$ or less (like I did), I'd say go for it. The D750 is still a fantastic camera and I fell in love with it after using it for 2 days. The articulating screen makes a big difference in composing your shot (even thought Nikon liveview AF is awful), the dynamic range is fantastic at all ISO, far better than my old D7100. Don't worry about recall issue as the vast majority of D750s are problem free, and even if you're affected, Nikon'll fix it for you free of charge, even if you buy it used, and the turn around time is quick. But if you can't get a D750 under 1500$, I'd say, save your money and wait for it's replacement. Oh, also subscribed.
Hi Kim, congrats on your 1st Q&A, full of interesting bits. I didn't realise you were one of the d7100 gang! Gives encouragement to all of us on tight budgets. Sort of guessed you'd be a "Heaton" fan...just love his videos, always feel happy after watching his stuff. Onwards to 5k, 50k...there is no limit!! @willkephoto
Hi Kim. I'm a new(ish) subscriber. As another new photography TH-camr (and a fellow Nikon D7000 series shooter!) I really like and appreciate your content - congratulations on what you've done so far and I look forward to seeing more! Also, it seems that a fair bit of traffic for one of my recent videos came via one of yours :) So thanks to you (and TH-cam's algorithm I guess) for that!! :)
Hi Kim, interesting vlog. I would recommend making videos that you want to make and cover the topics you want to cover, you can't please everyone in this world but you can please yourself, I for one so far have enjoyed the variety of content that you make! keep it up.
A very inspiring and informative video, thank you. Well done on your subscribers, you deserve it. I have been on youtube for the same time and have 15 subscribers so I know how difficult it is, keep up the good work.
Watched several of your vids and really enjoyed every one ! Having seen this vid it is obvious that you are really passionate for nature, wildlife, the environment and have an eye for the surrounding areas/landscapes. Somehow missed the conservation / non photography ones, so just nipped over there and watched part one & two, & I cannot believe that people have moaned that they were not about photography ! Clearly imbeciles that just want you to tell them how to wipe there own backsides ! Watching videos about different areas gives us an insight into the area, free, and to be able to decide whether to go with our cameras and take pictures for ourselves ! Big thumbs up from me Kim, please please please keep up the good work ! and just ignore the idiots with mucky bums !!!
Loving the channel Kim , congratulations on nearly 10 thousands subscribers, soon be there . Loving catching up with your videos, am binge watching them when i can , joined this week . Keep it up sweetie xx
Enjoying your videos here in the USA. I have the same camera and same two lenses. Does the BeFree support the weight ok? I have a big full size one that's five pounds. Would like something lighter when I hike. I am near 60 yrs old now I am glad to see a youngster and a female role model on here. Hope you inspire more girls to what is a male dominated world that is on TH-cam anyway.
Nice one Kim 👍 Great channel and this particular video was great too. Very upfront, honest and genuine ....you can't fabricate that sort of stuff and your videos stand out because of that. Keep up the good work, it's a pleasure to watch.

I don't know what it is about you Brit vloggers, but I prefer watching a Brit doing photography (You, Simon Baxter, Thomas Heaton...etc.) than an American. ha! Best wishes and congrats again!
Thank You I love your site and enjoy traveling Scotland with you I come to Scotland at least once a year some times
Hi Kim. Enjoying all the videos, your enthusiasm and happy smile. Keep up the good work….
Thank you very much for your kind words Barry and welcome to the journey.
Love your passion and hearing you talk about your art. Thank you for sharing with the world.
Thank you 🍾
I started following you last week, learned so much already. Also following you on Instagram. Thanks for the great videos
Congrats on the 3k subscribers. I love your vlogs and your photos. Your enthusiasm and passion shines through and is inspirational. Definitely agree with Thomas Heaton as a inspiration. Love his channel.
I love the Nikon d7200 I use, amazing quality for a crop sensor
Congratulation on reaching 3000. Keep up the good work. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your ideas and your gift in photography. I hope that you keep it up. :)
Great video Kim. Best Q&A I've seen in a long while. Your channel is really coming on. Please keep up the good work.
Excellent. Well done. All types of your videos are welcome. M.
Great honest Q & A, thanks Kim. Nice to see you using gear that the rest of us amateur photographers can afford.
Kim, I own the D850 and the D500 and believe me, a crop body is more then enough for landscape. Love your channel kiddo :-)
You are so cool Kim! We love you. Please keep the videos coming. Hay I shoot a D7100 too!
really enjoyed both vlogs this weekend Kim lovely sunrise, and in this blog so natural and friendly as I type this you have over 3.4 k subscribed and its easy to see why.

Go girl....
Nice video. Congratulations on over 3000 subscribers. Well deserved.
Congrats on the 3+k subscribers. Loved the video very open and honest, and I think that is what makes your channel special, that's not to say others aren't, but it's one of the qualities that attracts people including myself to your channel. Anyway here's to the next 3k subs and keep up the great work.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great job kim, love your video's so inspiring
Love your videos Kim, keep up the good work and congrats on 3000 subscribers
Keep up the great work Kim. You are so inspiring.
Nice one Kim. I only stumbled across your channel last night, keep up the good work and good luck for the future 👍
Brilliant video Kim. Don't know how I missed it before. Do you still shoot with the Nikon D7100?
Tony
Very cool video and congrats on reaching over 3000 sunscribers!
Speechless Kim
Awesome!, thanks Kim!
Congratulations on reaching over 3k subscriptions :) Love your vlogs, keep it up..
thanks for sharing Kim.
Hi Kim I really enjoyed your vlog and found it very inspiring keep up the good work
A fantastic vlog keep them coming you are a true professional
I've got the same tripod and love it
Hi Kim, interesting vlog. I would recommend making videos that you want to make and cover the topics you want to cover, you can't please everyone in this world but you can please yourself, I for one so far have enjoyed the variety of content that you make! keep it up.
keep doing what you are doing Kim.
A very inspiring and informative video, thank you. Well done on your subscribers, you deserve it. I have been on youtube for the same time and have 15 subscribers so I know how difficult it is, keep up the good work.
Congratulations, Kim! Keep up the great work. Thank you for answering my question (dad.chef.nerd).
Oh Kim you are Inspirational for me, keep it up lass.
Nice one Kim 👍🏽 Really enjoying your channel keep up the good work 👍🏽
Andy.
Thank you for this Q&A. :-)
Congrats getting to 3K, Gary Gough recommended you in one of his videos on his channel and that is how i discovered you good self.
A very enjoyable vlog, Kim, a very relaxed delivery style. Cheers....and well done for 3K+
Loving the channel Kim , congratulations on nearly 10 thousands subscribers, soon be there . Loving catching up with your videos, am binge watching them when i can , joined this week . Keep it up sweetie xx
Thank you very much Monty and welcome to the journey! Glad you're enjoying what you've seen so far :)
Great job Kim. Love the channel, don’t take any notice of the thumb’s down, they are only jealous.Keep up the good work. Tom👍👍
