Are you still running this AGC? Why did you choose it over a Kuiu bino harness? I run the original Kuiu and love it but things do get dirty but it’s very light and quiet and terrific for stalking. I’m a year-round hunting guide and I’m looking at this pack when I’m guiding clients and don’t have to worry about the same things as when I stalking and shooting a bow myself. I hope it’ll fit the newer Sig Kilo 3000BDX rangefinding binos.
Nice video! What camera are you using, if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks... Yes I'm still running the same AGC pack. I love that thing, it can be a little bulky at time and now there are more great options out there. I have gone away from my KUIU pack, it just did not hold up, but I put serious pressure on my stuff. I have switched to Kifaru now... Heavier, but much more durable and comfortable with heavy weight.

I took Dhea years ago & had to stop after a week. I was very jittery & restless. I am estrogen dominant & something got off balance.

Your timing for this video couldn't be better! Ive been on the fence about the AGC bino harnesses. I keep looking at the classic Kodiak vs the cub. I just switched to an Iphone 7 plus for the VERY reasons you just discussed. I want to start using it as my primary GPS, so PLEASE PLEASE run through that series. I am VERY curious to know how well that OnXMap will work as GPS system in my phone. Will my Iphone7 plus fit inside the bino case with a phoneskope adapter right behind my bino's in the main compartment with the cub? Ever seen the classic in person? I am going to try running one of these in 2017 because I have heard so many guys that like them. I just hope I can get used to that bulk on the front, while wearing my pack on the back. Seems like a lot!

rbjackson, Did you see the post on Rokslide? I got in a little trouble for posting. I guess since I have a couple tshirts for sale on my site I should not have posted on the Forum. I though people might like that review. OOOPs.... You will love the phone as our hunting/scouting partner.. Get a GOOD waterproof case for it, you will have it out all the time and you want to be sure it is protected. Especially the screen sliding it in and out all the time.
WARNING... Do not use your phone as your only GPS device.... Yes it can be primary, but I highly recommend you carry another one even a cheap simple one that you mark camp, truck and key points along with your phone. Keeping a phone charged and the risks of failure are just to great to risk. I always carry both a GPS and Phone as I mentioned in the video. I've been lost for several days years ago and I had some guys get lost in my group this year, because of that exact issue.
OnXmaps works great, there are several tricks and tips for sure. I'm going to start working on that video and e-book soon. OnXmaps has some work to do as far as navigation and importing data goes. But you can save waypoints, you just can navigate to them. I use mainly to see topo and aerial photos in offline mode.
      Cheers

good stuff man! What Vortex do you run? I'm thing of pulling the trigger on the Viper HD. I saw they also had another higher end set around 1200

      Nick,
I have used both the Diamondback and Viper HDs. I have looked through the Razors..... They are all pretty darn good and you are kinda splitting hairs... Just my opinion, but I would get the mid-line 8X or 10X... 8X if you are more Midwest and 10X if you are more western game. Use those for your general hunting needs and save your money for a nicer Spotter or the new 15X binos, I think quality matters more when you are trying to dial in at that distance. I hope that helps and thanks for the question. I'm sure lots of guys have the same one.

Mark, great video, love the series, what day pack/ hydration system are you running with this set up or are you? I'm assuming your leaving the 5200 back at camp? If no other pack than this for day hunt, what are you running with this for hydration? Can't wait for your map/topo,video; tons of info in your videos, very appreciated, love the detail oriented presentations, keep them coming
    Thanks
    Chad

No.... that the real beauty of the serious hunting packs these days.. I no longer run a day pack at all. I run my Kuiu 5200 all the time. I just did a long day hunt for wolves yesterday and carried it all day. I will do a video on setting up your pack as a day pack and how to integrate hydration. There is so much good stuff to cover on that topic. My 5200 is actually lighter and more comfortable than most any day pack. The great thing is that you get sp used to wearing it, so when the time comes to do some serious packing it feels like second skin.
I run a CamelBak Unbottle 100 or 70oz... Depending on what I'm doing. They are amazing. They are inside a cover so they are protected from puncture and can be strapped into just about any backpack. I have my strapped mine up against the back of my 5200. Refilling the hydration bladder is a dream. I use a Sawyer Water Filter in the summer and fall months. It really does not matter what you use, as long as you use the platypus water bottles. If you use those you can use the Sawyer Fast Fill Hydration Pack Adapter Kit and you never have to take your CamelBak out of your pack. I will cover all that in great detail in my next video. I've been thinking about doing that video for a while, thanks for the reminder.

Hey Mark what kind of Vortex binoculars do you use

    • @TreelineAcademy
      @TreelineAcademy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ethan,
      Right now I'm using the 8 X 42 and 10 X 42... Diamondback and
Viper HD. I'm planning to get the new 15X. I'm thinking about replacing
my spotting scope with those. They are just more comfortable on a
tripod for me and 15 power is most all I need.

Great video .. I now notice a lot of guides , outfitters , as well as hunters now carry their binoculars in a case attached to a bino system?

Awesome video! Its been 10 years since I've hunted out west because of my job. I will be going back to Rockies next fall (2018). You have officially made up my mind on the bino harness. I've spent weeks doing research on these things. Thank you. I am from central Missouri what part did you come from? Again thanks for all the info.

I actually used the excess bungee from the adjustable bino lid to tether my rangefinder. It stretches far enough to reach my eye and the resistance of the bungee steadies it. When I need to put the rangefinder down it slides back into the pocket and the bungee retracts with it every time. It's all about what works for you and what you practice and this has worked the best for me.

Great video. I just stumbled on your channel and your bag dump video was awesome! My wife and I live in Colorado and are both going to start back country backpack bow hunting for Elk and Mulies this year. Needless to say I have A LOT of gear to purchase and your vids (along with folks like Gritty and Aron) are helping a ton. Thanks!

Matthew, That's exactly why I do the more detailed, ones. I think that is missing on so many hunting and backcountry pursuits.
