The Alaska Guide Creations is the best I've found after using the Badlands, Kuiu and Eberlestock over the years. It's compact but I have my Swarovski Binos, Sig Rangefinder, Garmin GPS, Spartan bipod, extra rifle ammo, lightweight knife, tags/licenses, Streamlight, Wind meter, cell phone, batteries all in the chest pack. Alongside to the right I have the AGC holster and on the left I have their rangefinder small pouch I use for an extra pistol mag. On the bottom of the main pack I have a soft sided Camelback collapsible water bottle. For me it means if I see something from where I am using my spotting scope and decide to put a lightweight fast hunt on it I can leave my backpack behind and go after it and still have the essentials to make a short or long range shot, deal with the animal and then get back to my pack even in the dark.

I had an AGC and did not like the fact the lid opens front to back. It was difficult to operate with one-hand. But it was very well-constructed otherwise (which it should be for the price).

You can't go wrong with a Badland Bino Harness, (Lifetime Guarantee). Includes a water bladder pouch on the rear portion of the harness that tucks away when not in use. It has been my go to bino harness for 10+ years. Used while hunting on foot, atv's, utv's, horseback & on snowmobiles.

Honestly I was SOLD on the Badlands D-Mag Bino case until I watched this video. Hearing that magnetic closure snap shut a few times really turned me off. I own a LOT of Badlands stuff and their warrantee is incredible….but so I the Vortex warranty. This video turned me from the Badlands D-Mag, towards the Alaska Guide Co. Kodiak Cub, THEN to see that Vortex sells it as a Vortex product for $20 cheaper….can’t go wrong at all.

Yep I had a Badlands Bino C, and the magnetic closure was extremely loud. Not ideal for hunting at all. I've also had an AGC cub, and I hated how it opened front-to-back. I sold both.

If you buy one that opens towards your face and you own 15x56 or even 10x42 binos, you’re going to fucking hate it. I would buy a marsupial out of all of these. Most adjustable, best customer service, quite, comfortable, and lots of extras you can add over time if you want

With some modela with a tall bino flap, yes. With others, that!is simply not the case. AGC for instance uses a short pouch cover that doesn’t cause any issue at all when accessing the binos. I have been using them for 10 years now with no problem like that. I do have one that came with some binoculars that are like that and yes, they absolutely go WAY too high. Literally in front of your face to get the binos out.

@@jammerlr7780 I'm way late to this discussion (just randomly found this video) but I've had an AGC cub, and the front-to-back closure really bugged me, and made it difficult to operate with one hand. And I was just using 10 x 42 binos.

@BlackOvis will there ever be a concealed carry and binocular combo chest pack? One with a compartment that is sipped up and can hold a pistol while also having a dedicated binocular case in the front I know the closest thing made is the marsupial gear fishing pack but it’s not a dedicated purpose made chest rig

    • @dallanc.3368

If you buy a badlands pack with one of their bino harnesses, you can connect them to the pack. However, I never do this as I often walk to a spot and sit. I'll get up and walk around a little if I get cold or use the bathroom so having your bino harness independent of your pack is a plus as you don't have to take your pack for short walks. That's my recommendation. Also, if you have binos and a range finder, I suggest the badlands XR. It's the one I'm using now and I like it a lot! I was using the badlands Diablo pack for the last 15 years or so. The zippers finally wore out on it so I upgraded to a badlands 2200. I haven't used it yet, but it has connection points for my bino harness. I've only used the ALPS OutdoorZ Extreme Bino Harness X other than the badlands XR. I like the XR also because I can fold down the front and pull my binos out and put them back in without closing it. I also use 12x50 binocs and a rangefinder as the floor can be adjusted down in the badlands XR. Also, if you use two hands to fold the magnetic lid closed, it is so quiet. No zippers or elastic cordage to make noise. I carry my headlight and extra mag in the zippers and put my phone in the back pocket against my chest.

Which of these bino + rangefinder harnesses would work best with a chest holster rig for hunting in Grizz country? Looking for a modular system so that once back at camp, cleaning game or on a break, etc., the bino harness could be easily removed while still retaining the gun at all times.
The system would of course have to work by the harness not encumbering a quick draw from the chest holster, should one ever become necessary. Any ideas?
