    This was excellent! I have seen geode cakes before but none that have actually made the fondant look like stone. Genius!! Beautiful work.

      Thanks so much 😊 I'm so pleased you like it. Creating the stone effect was so much fun, even if it did go against everything I would usually do with fondant.

    OMG Lynz! You are a pure artist! I would have been having heart palpitations trying to do this.
    One cake I attempted to cover NEATLY looked not dissimilar to the aged effect you were going for! Truly, you are a master cake decorator and I’m thrilled I discovered your channel recently. Thank you once again 👏🏻😊

    Love the cake. I never would have thought to use the dried out fondant. It really make it look like actual stone! I love your videos!

      Hi Colin, It really did go against everything I know about working with fondant, but the effect looks so good when it's rolled out. I'm so pleased you like the cake. Thank you so much.

    I love this cake. Thank you for using purple 💜 lol. Such great and different techniques come together to make a gorgeous looking cake. There are so many things I want to compliment you on but to numerous to mention. I simply LOVE THIS CAKE. Thank you for sharing the sugar crystals. I always thought you had to make them from rock candy. I definitely have to get some. Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜

      Hi Lorraine, I was hoping you would like the purple 💜 I'm so pleased you like the cake, thank you. The sugar crystals definitely make it so easy being able to buy them pre coloured and in the little tubs.

    I love this! It is so beautiful. I'm not sure if you take suggestions on cake ideas but if you do, I think it would be fun to see some sort of princess cake. I really enjoyed your Victorian style cake tutorial and think it would be super cool if you did one to look like Princess Belle's dress from Beauty and the Beast with lots of ruffles and maybe some gems or something like that. Thank you for another great cake tutorial!

      Hi, I'm so pleased you like it and thank you so much for the suggestion. I love the idea of a princess cake, also yes I think that style of piping would look so pretty as a dress for Belle, that's a great idea x x

    Wow this is THE best geode cake I’ve seen! Can I ask if the stone crackled fondant that’s away from the sugar crystals tastes dry and crumbly when eaten, thanks 😊

    • @CakesbyLynz
      @CakesbyLynz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much. That means so much to me, I'm just so pleased you like it. In terms of the dried fondant I've found that normally when fondant is added to the cake it will dry out in exactly the same way, so once the fondant has been left to dry on the cake, there is no difference in the harness of the different pieces that were added.

    • @CakesbyLynz

      Hi, I actually have another tutorial which is creating marbled fondant, which would work really well for this cake. You can then cut the sections out in the same way and add the crystals. You can find the marbled buttercream here: th-cam.com/video/WF6Jrdg08hw/w-d-xo.html
