BTW, u don’t have to wait till the rice paper is soften before taking it out. In fact, it’ll be much easier to dunk it in so the water completely covers it, then take it out immediately, tap the tip of the rice paper against the plate’s edge to remove excess water, while the rice paper is firm that way u can still handle it. Place it on whatever surface you want then colouring etc the rice paper will soften in a few seconds. I’m Vietnamese and that how we use rice paper to wrap rice paper rolls without the edges all bunching up or sticking onto itself (unless that’s the look ur are going for!) 😇
You can just spray the paper with water and rub it in. It will be much less wet and dry so much faster. It will also slow you to control the depth of color much better.
Wow. You are great. It actually worked better. Do you make tutorials in your own channel? Plus you speak much less than this girl. She rabbit rabbit rabbit. She can't stop talking.
Thanks for your video, i love how much explanation you give. Can you please tell me if the rice paper softens once on the cake, is this something you should add at the very last minute or does it stay dry and hold its shape. Im concerned about putting it on the cake the day before and it falling apart. Thank you x
Hi Janet, with the Vietnamese rice paper I used for this cake, once it has dried out and is hard it stays completely hard. I have also tested it in the fridge and it still remained hard, so it should be fine to add it the day before.
Thank you for this! I had to make some for the first time, and did it along with your video. Really easy to follow and they look great. Especially thankful for the oven tip as I have to put them on a cake in 8 hours and didn't do research before to find out how long they take to dry 🤦🏼 Next time though I will wear gloves as I've made blue and green ones and now my finger tips and nails look like they mouldy 🤣🤣
loved it. (my daughter loves your videos as you primarily use pink and pastel shades :) ) m planning for a ocean theme cake and these sails in blue colour would be just perfect! many thanks!!!
I'm so glad you and your daughter enjoy the videos. I always think pink and pastel shades look so pretty, so I am very pleased your daughter likes the colour choice. I think blue sails would look so perfect on an ocean themed cake. x x
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been looking everywhere for this technique, but I didn’t know they were made from rice paper, so my search terms were wrong and I wasn’t getting results. Then TH-cam suggested your video!
How amazing, they made that simple white cake absolutely stunning. This is what i love about cake making eureka moments, it never gets old. Thank you so much for sharing i will definitely be trying these out 😀
Omg I've never seen anything so beautiful thank you for all the time and effort. IM DIFFENITLY TRYING THIS. I really hope you're proud of yourself... Well done!
Thank you so much ❤️. I'm so glad you like them and enjoyed the tutorial. They are super fun and easy to make so definitely give them a try. Thank you so much for your lovely comment X x
Thank you for this. I definitely want to give the technique a try! How far ahead can you make the sails? Do they store for a while in an air tight container or do they need to be used straight away? How long will they last on a cake? Do they go soft over time?
You always amaze me and come up with the greatest techniques. I'll come up with a question I want to ask you at the end of the video and before it's even over you've answered my question before I've asked it you're amazing I just love that effect and it looks hombre and it's purple and pinks and it's just oh my Lord so beautiful you are so talented thank you for sharing and it's always keep on caking
Looks gorgeous. Thank you for including how to attach to the cake because that’s what I was struggling with and haven’t found videos on how to do that until this one. Would the Candy melts work If have a Swiss meringue covered cake instead of fondant
I actually kept some of the sails in the fridge to see if they were affected and they seemed to keep their shape and stayed hard, so I think it will be fine to add them into the fridge.
I did try royal icing which worked but you need to hold it in place a little longer until the royal icing has stuck. Alternatively you could add cocktail sticks into the center just by winding it up slightly as I did at the end. You can then push these into the cake to hold it. I hope this helps.
Thank you for the tutorial! I was in a hurry today and baked them at 100°C and they were done in 30 mins ❤

Hi, thank you so much Trang Le. That's brilliant I will definitely test out x
Is it ok for Whipingcream?
The best tutorial on rice paper decoration! Thank you :)

How long in advance can you make these?
Wow. You are great. It actually worked better. Do you make tutorials in your own channel? Plus you speak much less than this girl. She rabbit rabbit rabbit. She can't stop talking.

You can make well ahead of when you need them. Just keep in a cool dry room afterwards, no need to store in plastic box. They last for ages.
I can't wait to try this, thank you.
What a beautiful effect!! Great technique! Thank you so much for sharing 😊💖.

After you attach the sails can the cake be refrigerated ? Or does the rice paper break down ? Thank you !!
Was wondering too:)
very beautiful 👍🏻👍🏻 thanks for sharing 🌹♥️♥️
Hiya can the cake be kept in the fridge with the rice sails on?. Wondering when brought back to room temp whether the sails can be effected
I actually kept some of the sails in the fridge to see if they were affected and they seemed to keep their shape and stayed hard, so I think it will be fine to add them into the fridge.
@@CakesbyLynz 🙂 thank you!
Lovely, any advice on how to stick them to a buttercream cake please?

Very informative video - thanks for sharing :) Can we keep the cake in the fridge once we have placed these sails on buttercream cake?
Hi Liz, I actually placed the sails in the fridge and they stayed completely solid and kept their shape, so yes that would be absolutely fine.
@@CakesbyLynz Thank you for the info.
I love these ,thank you for this tutorial ,they look so affective xx
Hi Lynsey, do we need to use the spray to stick the sails? What if we don’t have the spray? Thank you

Nice video, thanks for sharing 👍
love the tutorial but I have a question I made this but my baking paper is stickicking in some parts of the sail.....please help me
Thank you ❤
It’s lovely! What do you suggest sticking it to the cake with if the client has a chocolate allergy?
I did try royal icing which worked but you need to hold it in place a little longer until the royal icing has stuck. Alternatively you could add cocktail sticks into the center just by winding it up slightly as I did at the end. You can then push these into the cake to hold it. I hope this helps.
@@CakesbyLynz thank you for the quick response. Much appreciated. I’ll try that!
Amei essa técnica ❤
