    Can't go wrong with BeeGees. Raised and started singing her in Oz then moved back to England in the late 60s. Wrote and sang over a thousand songs over 5 decades. There will never be another group like these brothers.

    The opening rhythm came from the sound of their car driving over a bridge from Criteria Studios to where they were staying in Miami. By the end of the night they finished writing this.

    "Tragedy". I'd like to see your reaction to this #1 huge hit or an r&b that Qincey Jones called one of his all-time favorite r&b songs " Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)" .

    The B side to the JIVE TALKIN was WIND OF CHANGE, and 2 other hits from the same album are FANNY BE TENDER and NIGHTS ON BROADWAY. Did you know they were a 60’s act before moving to the US and reinventing themselves for a new generation? Maybe react to TO LOVE SOMEBODY or MASSACHUSETTS. My 20 something son said he downloaded THIS IS WHERE I CAME IN from their last album in the early 2000’s, so you might try that, too. Their catalog of 1000+
    songs spans decades and genres.... not just 70’s disco. Yes, please do consider more reactions!!!

    The Bee Gees were the biggest selling recording act in the USA in the 1970's. Try their song called More Than A Woman from the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack. Jive Talking was the comeback hit for the Bee Gees. It hit #1 in 1975, five years after their last #1 hit called How Can You Mend A Broken Heart in 1970!

    Great song but Nights on Broadway and Lonely Days from 1970, one of their earlier hits are worth a listen. Hard to believe that the Bee Gees formed in 1958 and the rest is history.

    Hope you are well by now! Far too many people only know about Bee Gees´music 1975-1979. They have so much more than that and it sounds totally different. Listen to the albums 1st, Odessa or Mr. Natural and you will notice that. My song suggestion is Bee Gees-Kilburn Towers.

    Jive Talkin is not disco. Its R&B/funk. This song and the album Main Course was before the disco era.

    • @johnandrews3151
      @johnandrews3151 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Disco era officially started before 1975 with a song by the Hues Corporation called Rock Tha Boat in 1974. But you are correct, Jive Talking is not a Disco song but is a dance song. Once the Bee Gees found out that this new formula worked for them, it was a no brainer to go the Disco route. Smart move for them. It made the Bee Gees the biggest selling album and singles act of the 1970's!

      @@johnandrews3151 actually some people me included as well as old musos who I have seen review the Bee Gees will argue that the Bee Gees were never disco. They just got caught in the hype. I will argue that Jive Talkin is not dance music. As an ex dancer I can confirm you can groove to it but not really dance to it. It is not really a dance song at all, its R&B/funk. It is not a song that would be played at any party to dance to. Not all up tempo songs are dance songs.

      @@johnandrews3151 As Leann has pointed out, The Bee Gees were never disco. Infact the songs for SNF were written before they even knew about the movie. They were writing songs for their Children Of The World follow up in France when their manager Robert Stigwood called them and asked them for songs for his new film. They send the already written songs to him and the rest is history. However, what ones always seems to forget, the songs were not written with disco in mind, but more R&B and much more funk.
      That they ended up in the movie was pure chance.

    • @johnandrews3151
      @johnandrews3151 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBrownlj I understand what you are saying. Basically, Disco in the 1970's was any song with a backbeat. When the Bee Gees announced publicly that they would no longer do any songs with a backbeat, it effectively ended their careers as a group. After that, they never had another #1 hit as the Bee Gees and what few hits they did have did not sell very well outside of the duo of Barry Gibb & Barbra Streisand who had two hits together.

    • @johnandrews3151
      @johnandrews3151 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beegeesbuster1 I understand what you are saying, however, the Disco Chart has many Bee Gees #1 hits to their credit and history still puts them as the best selling Disco Act of the Disco Era. After the Disco Era, their career fell apart. Nobody wanted to hear the Bee Gees without a backbeat!
