Bas honestly looks next level compared to the other competitors. They just look out of their league, like they don't belong there with him. Hopefully they can gradually decrease the skill gap.
Virtually no one holds a candle to him. Only in Japan have I seen a small handful of people give him a run for his money and manage to beat him, but only from time to time.
I don't know why this game doesn't have a bigger following cuz it's a great game and I love these two franchises coming together. Such awesome characters.
Watching this is has got me in the mood to get my Dreamcast out of the closet! This game needs a re-release on modern platforms with rollback netcode! I know fightcade exists but I want to support this gem in an Official capacity.

wow i never watched cvs2 before and bas seems like he would play smash bros like a beast with dodge roll and all the air freedom to take advantage in smash. Great top 8
@ytclassic05 It's the ps2 version. You can see the ps2 sitting between the crts and you can see the ps2 buttons when they configure at the beginning of each matchup.
You CVS 2 EO, they are just using the regular version with RC , u even see one of the players winning a match using RC electric to counter the same move by the opponent
Honestly the real skill is all in Japan. There’s a lot of amazing players there but they don’t travel and usually play on OG hardware. BAS is still the God of CvS2 though.
@enginemuseum5807 no, he's not. He's the A-Groove king, N-Groove and C-Grooves had kings (plural) that would beat him, but he's the only one still actively playing. He was middle of the pack in the heyday of great players, he just didn't drop out.

@enginemuseum5807 I forgot his name, but there was a wierdo S-Groove player that had the sickest game of peekaboo ever & actually won a tournament with mai, nakoruru, and yamazaki (2) in a way that left me gobsmacked. [EDIT] no blocking, full tilt offensive maneuvers sprinkled with timely dodges.

John Choi is for the most part his only competition in the USA. Gene Wong as well.

Bas still loyal to the classics. There has to be more Japanese pros that are still passionate about the classics.
