MvC2 play is so rigorous with mashing and wave dashing that you need the stick to stay put, plus the MAS sticks we used were super heavy to begin with and would side if you didn’t secure it down

Game is like already 20+ year old, they should've come up with some creative rules to spice the game up like having each player be able to ban characters or only have 1 S tier pick on line up or completely ban them & only pick some unused mid to low tier ones, etc.
I understand that it can be boring to see the same characters all the time, but there is no other old fighting game played competitively where rules like that are typically implemented. Off the top of my head because I play them, in 3rd strike, CvS2, Super Turbo, and Smash Bros Melee, most people will stick to a small subset of top-tiers in a competitive setting. IMO, that is okay and is naturally going to happen.

you can only block once in the air in mvc2. so if you block something on incoming your character is unable to block again until they land

So many people in the comments whining about high tier characters being played in a tournament.
Game is like already 20+ year old, they should've come up with some creative rules to spice the game up like having each player be able to ban characters or only have 1 S tier pick on line up or completely ban them & only pick some unused mid to low tier ones, etc.
I understand that it can be boring to see the same characters all the time, but there is no other old fighting game played competitively where rules like that are typically implemented.
Off the top of my head because I play them, in 3rd strike, CvS2, Super Turbo, and Smash Bros Melee, most people will stick to a small subset of top-tiers in a competitive setting. IMO, that is okay and is naturally going to happen.
