All the characters are dead and stuck in some post apocalyptic limbo, the art style is really cool but also dark (especially for how the Capcom characters are usually illustrated), and some of the character choices would absolutely not be made today. There is no way you could pick Zero over Megaman or X, or the Metal Slug Martians over Marco/Tarma/Fio/Eri, or Demitri over Morrigan.

Zero, Red Arremer, and Mars People being a playable character made this game stand out for me back in the day. Capcom vs SNK's roster was tame by comparison.
There were some great choices to the SVC lineup, including Demitri and Shiki apart from those you mentioned. But the main roster was also lacking variety (was disappointed Zangief didn't make the cut). Between Ryu and two versions of Ken and Akuma, you literally have 5 shotos. Throw in the semi-shotos like Sagat, Dan, Iori and Orochi Iori, Genjuro, Terry, Demitri and Zero, and there was a severe lack of play styles in SVC. Hugo was OK for what he is, but I'd have preferred someone else from SF3 like Yun or Yang where their play style would've been interesting with SVC's system. I thought the roster in NeoGeo Battle Coliseum was far more interesting.

SVC Geese is probably the most fun version of Geese ever, and that's even if you don't use his semi-infinite. But everyone apart from Goenitz (even Dan) are fun to use. Goenitz is pretty good in this game, but he's mind-numbingly boring to play outside of MAX mode (and I'm saying this as a Goenitz user).
Yes, it's unfortunately a promising and truly interesting char who was abandoned by Capcom and wasnt even given much space for crossovers. Like, speaking of Capcom it was only Pocket Fighter. Then Capcom Fighting Evolution used other Red Earth chars. So SvC was her last appearance. And actually I get the feeling that the ideal type of game for Tessa, after looking at her moveset, is games like MvC. But sadly Capcom was already a pretty different company by the time of the making of MvC3, much more stacked with famous franchises to use, not leaving room for Red Earth representation.

I hope a weird game like this gets the "old game" slot at EVO sometime. It'd just be fun to see the very best of the best get to show off in their pocket game that most people don't take seriously. This game is...not amazing in a lot of ways and from a lot of angles. But it is super cool and fun despite that! Not ever fighter has to be peak afterall. So few of us have really deeply explored it you know? It'd be a fun showcase.
SvC chaos is a missunderstand master piece if you take in the account that when capcom made CvS they took all snk mechanics and made the game with a vision of capcom on those mechanics, when SNK made the game, they did the same but with capcom mechanics. For example in cvs you play 3vs3 in svcc you play 1on1 (like in capcom games) as well as the bars, the running and the dash, SvC C is SNK's vision of capcom mechanics
Marspeople is actually the best match for Athena use the explosion to escape the tail dash and lion attack, also don't forget his exceed is crucial and must be use when Athena hits red.
I'm buying this right away not only because I never actually got the chance to play this crossover when it was current, but because i"m hoping supporting this now speeds up the process to a CVS2 rerelease or the hypothetical - and increasingly inevitable seeming as time goes on - CVS4
Came to check out the channels after seeing the announcement. Btw Zero might seem kinda underwhelming at first glance as he doesn't have anything easily abusable (low damage + very reliant on setplay etc), but take the time and find out why he's banned alongside Geese (the only two characters to be banned btw) He has unblockables in this game via charge 4-6D (summons a cyber elf that crawls on the ground) plus jC and his Exceed is also unblockable (and probably one of the best in the game). He also has an easy infinite via air 623B/D repeat, his zoning via charged buster shot/super is suffocating against characters that don't have answers, he has godlike disjoint buttons (2D, 5A, 5C are the stuff of nightmares), his grab can loop via grab 2B grab, another cyber elf gives A FULL BAR OF METER AND NULLIFIES single hit projectiles (multihitting ones require Zero to block the rest but it doesn't matter since he's probably safe anyway).
7:30 Athena is NOT top tier, while she is a HUGE knowledge check, pulled straight from the supercombo wiki, "Athena is not OP. She's extremely one note and easy to punish for the most part with an ounce of patience. Just front step most things she does or force her to approach you when you have a life lead, and she crumbles right away." both of the secret bosses have their broken stuff, but EVERYONE does. also, charge moves are weird, due to a bug in the arcade versions (including the steam/modern console ports) where you can't use down-back to charge all moves like it, you have to start with one direction, and go to down-back, so Guile can't do down-back to charge both sonic boom and flash kick,(also pulled from the wiki) If you press downback first, the game will charge neither Sonic Boom or Flash Kick. You have to press either down or back for at least a single frame in order to initiate the charge. its really weird and I don't know how it happened. the older console ports (ps2 and xbox) fixed that bug, thankfully, but you can't really play those versions online without using emulators (yet) sadly.
I bought the xbox version to not be able to play it on 360, when the xbox one announced backwards compatibility chaos was never added; it's now time for me to finally play this.
The SNK sprites are godlike, fun memories all around. While CVS was a better game, SVC wasn’t far behind. It suffered a great deal from a rushed development cycle since SNK was already bankrupt and Eolith was probably responsible for creating the title. I’m hopeful SNK will have another go since they had one more game out of the agreement. However, with all the legal issues in the time since, it’s unlikely the original agreement is still in place but with the crossing over of Terry and Mai into SFVI, I’m hopeful SNK will finally get a chance to make the game. I always preferred the SNK four-button setup over the CAPCOM six-button so let’s hope another SVC comes our way.
As an artist I love the character design here. Capcom is cool but more cartoony. SNK style looks exactly how I’d want the characters to look. The vibe is dark and the characters look mature and serious. Not here to Fck around and be cute just here to whoop asses 😅

As soon as you get one more bar you will have basically have infinite bar again. Also, guard cancel dash is the way to go and punish throw or worse. Look at the geese infinite. It’s basically a custom combo bar that’s always there Love this game at the arcade. I remember the faces of all the street fighter guys as I beat them because they don’t play snk. Also the animations for dimitris midnight bliss, Athena and arremer. A lot of love webt into this game. Budget and graphics aside

All existed, the only ones not selectable by any means (in the Arcade version), were Serious Mr. Karate, Shin Akuma, Goddess Athena and Red Arremer, the former 2 being added to the AES home port (being a stricter button code than the first 8 hidden characters due to having less timer time to do so) and the latter 2, being unlockable only in the OG Xbox and PS2 ports via beating them in Survival Mode (who you got to fight at the end was random).
