In 1985, I was 15 years old, I and my friends were up at 5am in Ontario California and watched every minute of this day long concert. This was an amazing day of music from the greatest bands of all time. When Queen came on, it was later in the day, and Freddie who is a deity of crowd control not only had the crown in London under his complete control, he had the near 100k in Philadelphia in total control, he also had the just over 1 BILLION on tv under his complete control. The BEST 20 minutes ever before or after in rock history. LOVE and MISS Freddie.
You were correct about their performance. Queen stole the show (not just my words, but the consensus of all). Their performance is still rated the rated #1 live television performance of all time. There were 60 bands there that day. It was incredible to watch on my TV that Saturday. My jaw dropped when Queen did their 20 minutes. They were all 4 incredible musicians and no one else can control a crowd like Freddie. He instantly has every crowd in the palm of his hand.
For me there were three stellar performances that day: U2, David Bowie and Queen. Up until today I still can't pick any of those three to be the better one.
Love your reactions! So glad I found your channel! Wembley was packed to the rafters, also so was JFK in Philly, and broadcast via satellite to a billion people. Yes, Queen absolutely stole the show, known as the best rock performance ever. I also recommend the movie Bohemian Rhapsody if you haven’t seen it. The recreation of Live Aid was amazing. Also, seeing Roger and Brian, nearly 70, loving the making of it, from the behind the scenes clips. Freddie was unbelievable that day…he lives forever! Also, I’ve probably seen this a 100 times, and I still get chills and goosebumps watching that enormous crowd in unison, with the camera showing Freddie leading them on. But, if you want to see a “big crowd” watch Queen Rockin Rio from 85(?) over 300,000 people there…Love of My Life is mind blowing!
As I’m sure you know by now… Live Aid was a charity concert to raise money for the famine in Ethiopia with several famous acts who volunteered to participate and didn’t get paid. Each act had a 20 minute set. A lot of the other performers played their current songs to promote their albums and didn’t take advantage of the time. Queen took it seriously and spent a week or so putting their playlist together and they had giant clocks in front of them so they could practice and pack as much in as they could in 20 minutes. It also helped that the sound guy worked for Queen and tweaked it so that Queen was louder than everyone else. By the middle of the set, the other acts backstage started to watch them on the monitors and realized that Queen was stealing the show and basically kicked everyone’s ass and they knew it!! Brian said that they had an advantage because they’d been playing stadiums for years and Freddie knew how to get the crowd involved. Many people say it’s the best live performance. Also, because the stage was pretty basic due to all the different artists, critics didn’t think Queen would pull it off because their shows are typically a huge production with lighting etc. and again Queen shut down the critics proving that they can put on a great show with just the four of them. David Bowie who was a big star back then was the next act in the lineup and was quoted in an interview later saying how was he supposed to follow that. Elton John was quoted as saying 'Freddie, nobody should go on after you - you were magnificent. ' Freddie said: 'You're absolutely right, darling, we were - we killed them.
It’s with excellent reason this is reputed as one of Queen’s best live performances ever: even Brian May and Roger Taylor consider it among their top proudest achievements. Freddie had a really bad throat infection at the time, so he was totally going against doctor's orders. He was such a trooper and sang his heart out! This should be shown in every music/performance art class on the planet, you want to know how to hold the world in the palm of your hand, this is how its done! At the time when they joined the Live Aid bill, Queen had actually slowly fallen out of favor in most of the public eye, partly because of their controversial hot space album, among other things. All the more reason why Live aid was such a saving grace for Queen. By the time Queen joined the list, everyone had bought their tickets. While it wasn't a Queen audience they would be playing to, playing in stadiums that size was like their bread and butter! "Crazy little thing" was written as a tribute to Elvis Presley, definitely check out the official video for it. Audience participation is a staple at every Queen concert, to make everyone feel apart of something, included!
Great to see the younger generation watching this...loved your reaction sir...Queen performed at Wembley Stadium in the UK in front of around 77000 and that last shot of the video was the crowd in Philadelphia around 90000...Phil Collins performed at both London and Philadelphia flying by concorde to get to the USA for his second act!!
The legendary David Bowie who was on next after Queen was heard by a reporter to exclaim "how the fuck am I supposed to follow that",that gives you some idea how good Queen was that day, for twenty minutes that day the UK was ruled by a different Queen
Watch the making of Live Aid why were they so perfect, for your own benefit and perspective it really is amazing it even happened. It will help you appreciate the enormity of that day, the cause for it and all the love that Queen received. 72,000 in Wembley, 89,000 in Philadelphia with an estimated 1.9 BILLION watching on television. By far Queen was the best 22 minutes of the entire 16 hours, still 🔥 almost 37 years later!
This is largely considered the greatest rock performance of all time! Freddie, as you can tell, is in his element! This was a big charity where many of the most popular acts were playing and Queen outshined them all!
Hey Cash, thanks for the great reaction!! I think that was 72,000 fans in the stadium, BUT what was crazy was the TWO BILLION watching on satellite TV around the world, they estimated to be around 40% of the world population, but I think it was more... everyone watched at some time during that day!! And to think he had been told by his doctor to not perform, he had a throat infection at the time... was disappointed they never showed Roger Taylor that much on film or John Deacon... ALL 4 GUYS ARE LEGENDS!!
Love your enthusiasm and your big smile watching the greatest singer ever backed by the greatest band ever!!! It's great to see the younger generation appreciating the greatness of Queen!
Queen had several advantages with this performance. They chose and rehearsed the numbers they did to fit the time they were allotted. They had experience in preforming in front of mega sized crowds. From the time they stepped on stage they knew how to control the audience, Freddie was a master at it.
Best concert ever. Every time I watch it, I feel like I am right there in the crowd. I watched this concert on TV on the day of the concert. To be fair, Zep was before Queen and they learned a lot from Zep. Freddie and the other Queen members really loved LZ. If you listen to Death On Two Legs, Freddie says in that song "you can kiss my ass goodbye." so he is just rubbing that guys face into it with every great performance. On Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Brian plays three different guitars. Acoustic, Stratocaster and his own Red Special.
We all! are the champions - all of us - we are singing! The last picture is from Philadelphia - that was an audience of 90.000! and somebody may have told you that an estimate of 1.9 billion were seeing this world wide - through live transmissions on TV via satellites. I totally love your reactions - thank you!
Your reaction is so good glad you love freddie he deserves it such a unic performer and agreat musician look how the crowd went crazy I've seen this so many times and every time I hear it again I'm blowing away he is aphenomenal singer you cannot take the eyes of him so perfect in every way imiss him so thanks for the reaction ❤️ 💔 💙
Enjoyed your enthusiastic reaction video! I became a huge fan after seeing the movie Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018. Now I consider myself an expert on all things Freddie Mercury and Queen 👑 Whoever said Freddie playing with the mic as he does, is inappropriate, clearly hasn’t watched any Megan the stallion, nicki Minaj and Cardi B videos twerking half naked not to mention thousands of rock and rap videos that exploit and degrade women. I was a huge rap and hip hop fan my whole life until I discovered Freddie and Queen and realized the difference between the junk I was listening to and quality, performing and musicianship. They really opened my eyes and changed my perspective on music. I hope you continue to enjoy your Queen journey as I am 😊 go watch their Wembley 86 concert. In my opinion Live Aid and Wembley 86’ are the greatest performances I have ever seen!
Next time, check out Budapest, Montreal and Rock in Rio concerts...all are equally awesome... or just listen to the albums, I especially enjoy the beautiful harmonies on the albums you don't always hear on the live, like "Love of My Life" and the first "In the Lap of the Gods" and Roger's falsetto, absolutely heaven-sent... enjoy.
As you I also became a huge fan after seeing the movie. I'm close to 71 - so they simply slipped my attention when I was young - but better late than never - as we say in Denmark - .
Yours is the BEST reaction I've seen to Queen's set at Live Aid so far. I loved how much enjoyment you got out of it. You made me smile all the way through. 😁
"Love of my life"Just Listen that song, love IT...Freddie legend♥️❤️♥️❤️..David Bowie Said after Queen when he Got on stage,je Said"WTF I'm going to do after this performans"Queen just stole whole show....Bicause je is The best of The best♥️❤️We love you legend!!
Yes when he plays the guitar he just down strokes. Crazy, even Brian said that. He really did play and composed some guitar riffs on it to show Brian what he wanted.
Queen spent a couple of weeks rehearsing for this. Each act was allotted exactly 20 minutes. Queen bought a bunch of big white clocks and placed them around the studio so that they could time it exactly. If you look closely you can see red, yellow and green lights at the front of the stage. When the light turned red the sound was turned off. Queen had it timed perfectly, upping the tempo to several songs and cutting Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You short. Elton John told them when they came off the stage, “You bastards, you stole the show.”
Yes - and if you look at those lights at the floor in front of Freddies feet, you can see the green light, at the exact time as Freddie "ended" the song, went out and the red light came on - and the stage light went out for a short while. Sorry for my "helpless" English - I'm from Denmark - and now and then lost for words.
There you are my friend you just witnessed the greatest live musical proformance of the 20th century and here we are nearly 40 years later it still sends a shiver down my spine and just think he done all that after his doctor advised him not to proform on the day because of a throat infection he had at the time
Queen rehearsed for this and knew how to play arenas, a double whamy & confidence boost. They got the global jukebox concept, trimmed songs tp make the most of their time. Plus each song showcases asomething different. Performing in daylight is different, but instead of throwing them off, it wowed them. Freddie got fuel from a crowd and this was BIG. I keep saying in comments: I want to see this as a VIRTUAL REALITY experience!
Great reaction! Thanks! That was a lot of fun to watch with you. You just witnessed what was voted to be the best live rock performance ever! To realize the gravity of this performance, you have to remember that his performance was broadcast all around the world to 150 nations amounting to 1.5-1.9 BILLION people. In addition to London and Philadelphia, Russia and Australia as well as smaller countries also held similar events. It was the largest satellite event, larger than the Olympics, just a tremendous technical feat. I watched at home in the U.S. So, when you see everyone in the stadium clapping their hands to Radio Gaga, you can imagine people in stadiums and at home all around the world doing the same thing. It's nuts when you think about how huge this was. Those short shorts were the "in" thing at the time btw. Everyone wore them. Another thing of interest is the pressure they were under to complete the performance in the amount of time allotted. If you look closely at the front of the stage at the end of We Are The Champions, you'll see a yellow light. That means their time is almost up and they have to complete the performance before the light turns red because when it turns red, the power goes off. You'll see Freddie sees it's yellow and quickly gets the attention of the band to cut them off. Right after he cuts the band off, the light turns red. They made it just in the nick of time, although who knows if they would have really pulled the power. Can you imagine being the one to pull the power after that performance? I wouldn't want to do it but that was the rule. I believe Freddie did that moon shot and the crotch shot in nearly every concert (if not every concert) from 1975 on as an F you to his old manager, especially if filmed. Freddie was dedicated to letting him know what they missed out on because they got greedy and treated the band so poorly.
I'm very impressed with your Queen journey and reactions so far. They have such a huge catalog and so much genius to explore. There is so very much but here's a small sample - Early Queen to check out: White Queen Hammersmith Odeon Liar Rainbow '74 Ogre Battle Rainbow '74 (Actually anything from Rainbow '74, Hammersmith Odeon, Montreal '81 or Wembley '86 is great) You Take My Breath Away Hyde Park (just Freddie and his piano) Mid Queen: Save Me Montreal '81 I'm In Love With My Car/Killer Queen (Roger sings) Montreal '81 Fat Bottom Girls Milton Keynes '82 Bicycle Race (official video) Late Queen: One Vision (extended official & Wembley '86) Who Wants to Live Forever Live - either Budapest or Wembley Impromptu Wembley '86 This is a MUST. Hardly anyone ever reacts to it, but it will blow you away. (I like the Friday July 11th version better) Is This The World We Created - either Live Aid or Wembley I Want It All - official Invisible Man - official Headlong - official These last ones should be done when you're much further in your journey because Freddie was very sick & it shows: I'm Going Slightly Mad - official These Are the Days Of Our Lives - official Tributes after Freddie died: No One But You (Queen) Old Friends (Roger Taylor)
This concert was broadcast all over the world, approximately 1.8 billion watched, the stadium in England had about 74 thousand people, the stadium in America had about 84 thousand. Great reaction
Queen absolutely nailed live aid, they knew what it was all about and blew everyone else out of the water by planning their set and doing a medley of their greatest hits
Wonderful reaction....fun! fun! fun! Queen 4 magical musicians - Roger up on drums & solidly backing Freddie on vocals, Brian on guitar doing so also..and John Deacon on Bass singing too I'm thinking but primarily doesn't tho' quite a dancing machine as he and Roger keep them altogether without a hitch. Of course Freddie, unfailing energy, fabulous voice, director of fans in every corner of the Arena leads like no other Lead Singer. All four Legends, our Queen Band! Enjoyed your great commentary., thank you!
Thank you, Cash - great to watch a younger person appreciating Queen music and the amazing performance of the lead singer, the late, great Freddie Mercury. I have been watching your reactions and you are always so enthusiastic. Enjoy the music!
Fantastic performance, Freddie really goes all out and considering he had a throat infection and his doctor told him not to sing, he really stepped up his game. He later said that singing on that day felt like he was gargling with shattered glass. I love this show, I always feel like I am right there in the crowd. Thank you for your reaction.
Radio Gaga was written by Roger Taylor (drummer). It was about the fact that TV were killing the Radio. The name "gaga" came from one son of Roger, who was a baby and one day he said "radio caca" and Roger was like: it has potential. LOL.
I was 15 and watched it live on tv........what a ridiculously perfect performance!! It gets better with age like a fine bottle of wine.........queen was and still remains groundbreaking avante guarde (sp?) and just perfection in all they did.... This performance was reuniting for them....they hadnt played together for some time as a band live!! Truly moving..every member john, brian, rodger.......freddie....what a complex and revetting and technically challenging performance!!
Freddie wrote Crazy Little Thing Called in his bathtub in a few minutes and used the only chords he knew on the guitar. So he wasn't a professional guitarist. Brian usually played with his acoustic guitar the beginning of the song and then Brian used an electric guitar for the end of the song (the guitar for this one wasn't his famous Red Special). Roger Taylor (drummer) sings the high notes on this song. The bassline on this one is also amazing, really really rock'n'rolly. Btw this song was a tribute to Elvis Presley that had died some time before it.
Reaction Request: Queen’s “Spread Your Wings” written by John Deacon, also filmed in Roger’s backyard like We Will Rock You, and what I think is one of Queen’s most underrated songs. It’s beautiful and fantastic…would love to see you react to it!
Saw queen at knebworth 1986 with quo and big country as supporting bands just a brilliant day and night and ticket with coach was on £25 how times have changed
Love your reaction .... by the way, there is a wonderful shot during the performance of another performer (I think it is Paul Young) sitting on the scaffolding surrounding the set watching Queen perform - Live Aid was an amazing event with many outstanding performances, but Queen totally smashed it ....
Watch the encore "Is This The World We Created " just Freddie and Brian. Very nicely done review. You should see the crowds at their South American concerts; they are estimated at possibly as many as 200,000. The band was in top form for this concert as they not only rehearsed and timed it down to the minute, but had just finished the last performance of a S. AMERCAN,, AUSTRIAN, and JAPAN tour about 6 weeks before. ( the movie said they hadn't performed together for 2 years: total fiction to make the performance more dramatic, as were several other "events" portrayed in the film)
The four members of Queen are Freddie Mercury, piano, guitar, lead singer and frontman. Dr. Brian May, guitar (Brian made it) and keyboards and sings backup, occasionally lead vocals. John Deacon base, keyboards and built the Deaky amp. Roger Taylor drums, guitar, piano sings backup and sometimes lead vocals. All members have written #1 songs and are in the songwriters hall of fame. Best band ever, never a bad concert! Freddie was sick with a throat infection and advised not to sing for this performance. Best act of the day!
If you can believe it this wasn’t even Freddie at 100%, he had a throat infection and his doc told him to pull out! It’s a testimony to Freddie that he ignored that advice and a testimony to the others who were good vocalists in their own right and who could help fill-in particularly Roger on drums who can get up to the higher registers. You’d never think it though would you, Freddie at 80-90% is still better than most. And the whole set is just so tight ‘cause they were only given 21 minutes but they were so well rehearsed they did it and if you think that includes walking on to the stage, the songs themselves, Freddie’s interactions with the crowd and everything else, it’s amazing!
Wonderful reaction. Pure joy all the way though. Freddie and the whole band - truly a gift to the world. I was a kid in July of 1985 just listening on transistor radio in the middle of a field on my grandparents farm that summer afternoon - and believe me you could feel that energy half way across the world though that tiny radio.
You have the nicest reactions! I like the way you tell us if you do or don't like something. Very refreshing. Ok - "that guy is wearing short shorts"! is Peter "Ratty" Hince. He was Freddie & John's roadie from 1975 to 1986 . It's Ratty's hand you see whenever that mic pops up from nowhere in any concert videos. He was crouched under the piano or off to its side -waiting.
The tickets for this concert were a lottery you applied for them and if you got them you were lucky They could have filled Wembly Stadium at least 10 times with the amount of requests for tickets Brillian reaction x
It’s ok; you can say it. Queen’s Live Aid performance is considered by most everyone in the world as not just the best performance at Live Aid, but the best live rock band performance EVER.
Freddie said after this set was done, that his throat felt like he'd been gargling with shards of glass (because of his throat infection)... His boyfriend, Jim Hutton, said that as soon as this was over and Freddie got back to his trailer, he threw back some shots of vodka. (He must've used that as a remedy for sore throats; Brian May mentioned more-than-once, Freddie taking shots of vodka in the last months of his illness when they were recording in the studio.)
Great reaction. This was not a good day for Zep. Queen prepared, many other performers didn’t. Geldof told Freddie “it’s the perfect stage for you….it’s the world”
Crazy little thing called love is a song written by Freddie while he was having a bath, he wrote this one in 10 mins and he dedicated it to Elvis Presley when he died
The consensus of those who were backstage at Wembley during Queen's performance is they stole the whole show!! This performance is considered the greatest rock performance ever. Wembley Stadium in London was packed with over 72,000 but the concert was broadcast all over the world using 13 satellites (a new technology in 1985) to an audience estimated to be 1.5 billion. Radio Ga Ga was a commentary on the state of radio programming at the time. Radio had been everything for teens in the 50s, 60s, and even in the early 70s but then MTV and music videos took over the market. Plus big corporations began pre-programming music instead of the local DJs so the radio was less exciting. BTW - the original name of this song was "Radio Caca (Caca being the French word for poo). Roger wrote this song when his then 3 -yr old son (whose Mother is French) ran into the room, stared at the radio, and announce "Radio Caca". The phrase inspired Roger to write the song. Actually, Queen's video for Bohemia Rhapsody is considered the first music video and started the trend toward music videos so they are sort of responsible for the rise of musical videos.
the concert was broadcast all over the world using 13 satellites (a new technology in 1985) to an audience estimated to be 1.5 billion. estimated audience and actual viewer estimation are two different things The actual viewer estimation is around 400 million (BBC)
@@RoverWaters July 13 marks the 36th anniversary of Live Aid, a benefit concert that raised money for the relief of famine-stricken countries in Africa. The 16-hour “super concert” featured more than 75 acts, including Queen, Run DMC, Paul McCartney, Madonna and Elton John performing in two spots: Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. A crowd of more than 150,000 watched in-person at these sites but, in an astounding technological feat, 13 satellites, including five Intelsat satellites, beamed the broadcast live to televisions and radios across the globe. According to historical accounts, it was one of the largest-scale satellite link-ups and television broadcasts of all time, with an estimated audience of 1.9 billion, across 150 nations.
@@RoverWaters Britannica Live Aid, benefit concert held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia on July 13, 1985. Organized by Boomtown Rats front man Bob Geldof and Ultravox vocalist Midge Ure, the event drew an estimated 1.5 billion television viewers and raised millions of dollars for famine relief in Ethiopia.
@@RoverWaters I dont know why theres such a difference, maybe the BBC were just giving an estimate of what they expected but lots of articles are saying 1b.... So that info must be from somewhere
This performance went down in rock history as the single best performance by a rock band!! The set list is brilliant - Bohemian Rhapsody (why not, mega hit) Radio Ga Ga (great crowd participation song) Hammer To Fall (currently getting radio play) Crazy Little Thing Called Love (tribute to Elvis & the crowd sees Freddie play guitar) We Will Rock & We Are The Champions (the one-two punch 💥🥊). KNOCK OUT 🫠🫥
Watch the TH-cam video titled "The Story of Queen at Live Aid", you'll get to see the opinions of some of the organizers. Freddie and Brian came back on for the very last song of the evening, "Is This the World We Created?".
72, 000 +++ in Attendance and 1.9 BILLION watching from around the world . Freddie performed against Doctors orders with a throat infection and killed it anyway😊 Live Aid made 24 million for famine in Africa
As something from the Movie about Freddie they were attempting to raise ! Million dollars in England as so as Queen and before they finished they Live Aid dinations reached over 1 illion Dollars
You might like a crowd video. Watch the Green Day concert where while the band were getting ready to come on stage the speakers started playing,Bohemian Rhapsody and the whole crowd starts singing. It’s amazing!!
Bo Rap was Freddies their first no 1 uk (9 weeks) 1975 Ga Ga was Rogers first single and it got to no 2 uk 1984 Hammer to fall was Brians also off the 84 album the works They had just finished their world tour Freddie crazy little thing called love was their first US no 1 1980. No 2 uk 1979 Brian rock you and Freddie we are the champions both released as double a side US no 4. Both played together on the radio. Both performed at the end of their concerts. Only champions released uk no 2. Released 77 and both still well known and stadium anthems quite an achievement This wasn't a Queen concert so quite impressive you would think it was! They performed brilliantly and Freddie was in his element! The two concerts were to raise money for the famine in Africa Freddie and Brian wrote their first song together on the works, is this the world we created after seeing news clips about the famine They performed it at the end of this event, worth watching

Sorry, just found you; so, I’m late to the Comment Section! I’m a 66 y/o Glamma. You seem to enjoy the background of things. And, I’m a Trivia sponge, so here goes: They had just completed a Tour a month b4. So, they went & rented a Stadium to practice the performance. He ended up with a Throat Infection & the Doctor highly recommended he not do it bc he might lose his musical ability. He said no! Can you tell he had a severe throat infection? Most people think he was drinking booze from the cups bc on the piano. He’s drinking Honey & Tea. His command of the Audience was more than coincidence it was miraculous. Considering there were so many people there the sound was getting absorbed through them. So the people @ the back we’re following his hand gestures bc the actual sound hadn’t even reached them b4 the next sound was coming @ them. Go back & watch what his hands are doing & what the Audience is doing. NEXT: Radio Gaga is celebrating Radio bc M-TV is just getting started. LADY GAGA was a huge Freddie Fam growing up, so That was where she came up with HER STAGE NAME! You have to listen to the words to really understand the meaning. Most of us didn’t have a clue what a Band looked like unless we saw them in Person! NEXT-MICROPHONE. At sometime along the way a Microphone Stand broke, so that was the only spilt second solution they could come up with. He realized the freedom he had to move, dance, & engage the Audience. NEXT MICHAEL JACKSON & ELVIS CONNECTION on Song THING CALLED LOVE: It was written as his homage to Elvis-Freddie was a big fan. But, he just wasn’t sure about the song bc he didn’t want to taint Elvis. SO, he played it for Michael J. (Yes, they were friends!). And Michael told him he HAD TO, he said “Freddie, you have to”! (Can’t you just see that!?). NEXT FREDDIE’s VOICE. HE HAD 4 extra teeth so that’s the reason he had such an overbite. He had the ability to naturally flow from Octave to Octave. It was a natural progression, for him. SCIENTIFICALLY: Test were done on his Voice. He was able to use his Throat muscles on either side of his vocal cords. Which is normally seen in some Opera Singers. His Vocal Range was from Low Bass F, to High Soprano F! They were extremely surprised to find out that he could go from about 92Hz to 784Hz, effortlessly! See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW: nyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since. His ability to blend highs, lows and mid range notes cohesively and with immense precision. This skill was due to the fact that Freddie was able to create faster vibrato and harmonics than any other singer at the time. Not only this, he was able to shift through registers effortlessly. Although he naturally held a baritone voice, he primarily sang as a tenor and of course had no problem then shifting into soprano parts. One study on Freddie’s vocal range even confirmed that he was able to vary from about 92.2 Hz to 784 Hz, meaning he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves! 25:41 I’m sorry to take up your Valuable Time, and I thank you. You need anymore Trivia I’m your G’Ma go to. My Brain is full, especially with music, & believe it or not Sports! I watched a lot a “first reactions” on this particular Concert. You seemed to be the one most amazed, & truly wanting to know EVERYTHING you could find out about this.
And Roger Taylor in singing in the back on the drums, never gets enough credit for his vocals, absolutely stunning performance !
I actually did not know it was for Ethiopia and no one got paid. This makes it even more beautiful that their best act was out of kindness❤️
👏👏👏The shortest 20 minutes ever. It wasn't a Queen audience, but they all loved them and Freddie feed them from his palm of hands.
Most band that were there just sang some songs, but Queen put on a show!! Miss you every day Freddie.
You`re wrong, wiki is incorrect
Wiki quotes seated attendance, Wembley was 121,000 Philly was 155,000
This is largely considered the greatest rock performance of all time!
"TWO BILLION watching on satellite TV " false
Watching because of satellite. Nit picker. ...geez
Love your enthusiasm and your big smile watching the greatest singer ever backed by the greatest band ever!!! It's great to see the younger generation appreciating the greatness of Queen!
Queen is for all generations. they are so amazing❤️
Unmistakenly the best Live performance of ALL TIME! ❤️
Next time, check out Budapest, Montreal and Rock in Rio concerts...all are equally awesome... or just listen to the albums, I especially enjoy the beautiful harmonies on the albums you don't always hear on the live, like "Love of My Life" and the first "In the Lap of the Gods" and Roger's falsetto, absolutely heaven-sent... enjoy.
Nicely stated! 👏👑
Anyone who reacts to Queen deserves a sub. Thanks for the reaction you’ve made a fan of me.
The best of all time! Freddie loved his fans! And his fans loved him. Still do. He is Legend! ✌❤🎶
Ratty bought the clocks
That was David Bowie
Not sure if this will make sense but it's my impression that whereas most bands played a selection of songs, Queen played a structured mini-concert.
There you are my friend
you just witnessed the greatest live musical proformance of the 20th century
and here we are nearly 40 years later it still sends a shiver down my spine
and just think he done all that after his doctor advised him not to proform on the day because of a throat infection he had at the time
Queen rehearsed for this and knew how to play arenas, a double whamy & confidence boost.
That is Freddie's talent the crowd always does what he tells them and I was rocking with them at the time.
There is so very much but here's a small sample -
Early Queen to check out:
White Queen Hammersmith Odeon
Liar Rainbow '74
Ogre Battle Rainbow '74
(Actually anything from Rainbow '74, Hammersmith Odeon, Montreal '81 or Wembley '86 is great)
You Take My Breath Away Hyde Park (just Freddie and his piano)
Mid Queen:
Save Me Montreal '81
I'm In Love With My Car/Killer Queen (Roger sings) Montreal '81
Fat Bottom Girls Milton Keynes '82
Bicycle Race (official video)
Late Queen:
One Vision (extended official & Wembley '86)
Who Wants to Live Forever Live - either Budapest or Wembley
Impromptu Wembley '86 This is a MUST. Hardly anyone ever reacts to it, but it will blow you away. (I like the Friday July 11th version better)
Is This The World We Created - either Live Aid or Wembley
I Want It All - official
Invisible Man - official
Headlong - official
These last ones should be done when you're much further in your journey because Freddie was very sick & it shows:
I'm Going Slightly Mad - official
These Are the Days Of Our Lives - official
Tributes after Freddie died:
No One But You (Queen)
Old Friends (Roger Taylor)
A brilliant list! All I would add to it would Somebody to love at Montreal '81 and maybe the whole 2 hour gig at Wembley 1986!
@@luciasantiagotaylor8817 He's already done a great reaction to this. You should check it out.
This concert was broadcast all over the world, approximately 1.8 billion watched, the stadium in England had about 74 thousand people, the stadium in America had about 84 thousand. Great reaction
This concert was heard by 1.5 billion worldwide. 72 thousand at Wembley on the day. Queen are said to have given the best live show Ever on that day.
Queen absolutely nailed live aid, they knew what it was all about and blew everyone else out of the water by planning their set and doing a medley of their greatest hits
My fav song by Queen is Somebody to Love.... Shane they didn't play it here!!! But the live version in Montreal is it's own masterpiece!!!
LOL.
😂😂
I was 15 and watched it live on tv........what a ridiculously perfect performance!! It gets better with age like a fine bottle of wine.........queen was and still remains groundbreaking avante guarde (sp?) and just perfection in all they did.... This performance was reuniting for them....they hadnt played together for some time as a band live!! Truly moving..every member john, brian, rodger.......freddie....what a complex and revetting and technically challenging performance!!
I absolutely love your reaction to this Cash! The joy and excitement are priceless 🙂 Carry on, carry on with the Queen journey, please??!
Pure music, pure talents, pure performance.
Watched this whole concert Live on TV! Over 1 BILLION people watched!
Brian used 3 different guitars during Crazy Little thing called love during this performance.
@@eturfrey You're right. Although I said usually.
Freddie always says “take it Brian” for the last guitar bit & that is always the Red special.
@@bettybaby63 I didn't notice he uses 3 guitars in every concert and I was almost sure he just used 2 on some of them.
@@Dillon12 yea 3. Acoustic, a telecaster & then the red special. Pretty amazing.
FREDDIE MERCURY is The G.O.A.T. ! ! ! The Best There Ever Was ! ! ! The Best There is ! ! ! The Best There Ever Will Be ! ! !
Loved your reaction.......Radio was all we had growing up in the 40s, 50s and 60s......now we watch it
Wow 🥰 loved your reaction liked already subscribed 😁❤️ Freddie Mercury ❤️ more queen reactions please 😍
72.000 on Wembley, 94.000 in Philadelphia, 1.9 billion tv-wievs 👑❤️
If you have headphones you will get the FULL impact of Queen. The music will travel all around you.
You just can't BEAT Freddie 💋💋💋💋💋
Reaction Request: Queen’s “Spread Your Wings” written by John Deacon, also filmed in Roger’s backyard like We Will Rock You, and what I think is one of Queen’s most underrated songs. It’s beautiful and fantastic…would love to see you react to it!
We all love Freddie- he was a master
If you watch the green light at the front of the stage turn to red you will notice how absolutely spot on to time they were!
John also plays guitar.
@@Dillon12 John can also play drums
@@imweakfordeaky I was talking about in studio songs. So he doesn't do it in any song.
Bob Geldoff mentioned seeing the crowd reacting to Radio Gaga and thinking it would really suck for whomever followed Queen!
And the whole set is just so tight ‘cause they were only given 21 minutes but they were so well rehearsed they did it and if you think that includes walking on to the stage, the songs themselves, Freddie’s interactions with the crowd and everything else, it’s amazing!
freddie is amazing
37th Anniversary Live Aid July 13th
He became a boxer at his young age that's why he can move so fast...
The tickets for this concert were a lottery you applied for them and if you got them you were lucky They could have filled Wembly Stadium at least 10 times with the amount of requests for tickets Brillian reaction x
he had that audience and all the other stars who performed in the palm of his hands.
You NEED to watch Love of my life LIVE FROM RIO!
Esta fue la actuación que puso a la banda en otro nivel! la locura más hermosa jamás vista!!!
It’s ok; you can say it. Queen’s Live Aid performance is considered by most everyone in the world as not just the best performance at Live Aid, but the best live rock band performance EVER.
73000 at Wembley stadium that day, another 100k at JFK stadium in Philadelphia, and over a billion watching via satellite worldwide
I just love your reactions. It touched my heart when you recognized Radio Gaga before he began singing.
Greatest live performance ever.
Thank you so much for your great reaction, you gave me my smile back. Love from France 🇫🇷😘
salut ❤️
Love your reaction to Queen 's music!!
Stadium in the cut away end shot was JFK in the US - the Queen performance was at Wembley in London.
Crazy little thing called love is more elvis than elvis ever was…
Loved your reaction! Hx for doing this one !
Your the best love you👍❤️ You really get Freddie and I love you for that.He used to moon for his old manager and it just became a part of the show 😅
Freddie said after this set was done, that his throat felt like he'd been gargling with shards of glass (because of his throat infection)...
Geldof told Freddie “it’s the perfect stage for you….it’s the world”
Queen is the only band in the world where every member has written at least 3 number ones.
The whole band is in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.
Love your comments and your smile is contagious 👍
Crazy little thing called love is a song written by Freddie while he was having a bath, he wrote this one in 10 mins and he dedicated it to Elvis Presley when he died
This concert was also televised to 1.5 billion 80,000 plus at the stadium
Look at the CROWD ..NO ONE TODAY CAN DO THAT FOR...
HE WAS A MUSICAL GENIUS 💋💋💋💋

July 13 marks the 36th anniversary of Live Aid, a benefit concert that raised money for the relief of famine-stricken countries in Africa.

KNOCK OUT 🫠🫥
You have another big Queen fan. He was only 3 years older than me.
Watch the TH-cam video titled "The Story of Queen at Live Aid", you'll get to see the opinions of some of the organizers. Freddie and Brian came back on for the very last song of the evening, "Is This the World We Created?".

Live Aid made 24 million for famine in Africa
When he is live he loves doing poses.

See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW:
nyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since. 25:41
I’m sorry to take up your Valuable Time, and I thank you. You need anymore Trivia I’m your G’Ma go to. My Brain is full, especially with music, & believe it or not Sports! I watched a lot a “first reactions” on this particular Concert. You seemed to be the one most amazed, & truly wanting to know EVERYTHING you could find out about this.
