You'll be glad to see the upcoming videos. I did a lightweight battery and bucket seat and will be installing a secret never before seen full titanium exhaust on the s209. Thanks for watching and stay tuned!
Thanks! I decided to start this channel to share my experiences and ownership of the S209, since I figured many car enthusiasts, especially those in the Subaru community, would love to learn more about what makes this car truly special. It's also a great space for me to document the plans I have for this build. Thanks for your support and stay tuned!
@@TheLastS209 you are one of the 209 people to have shared with the world. Wish I was in a different place I woulda got one in 2019. I’m far more into building a reliable high HP Subarus :). stage 1 fozz making 300bhp (cold starts all year)! Hopefully I can snag an sti soon! Can’t wait to see what exhaust you’re gonna choose. I’m a hard believer in oem+ look. You might be into the dual exit Invidia N1. Super great tone and not as loud as Ti and best of all shaves 10-14lbs.
Personally, I’d do an AOS, cyl 4 cooling mod, standard OEM spoiler, and a downpipe and maybe an EBCS. Parts on the dream list would be S208 seats and JDM STI big brake set.
I love the s207/208 seats! That would be a dream to have. I think there is not much different from the JDM bbk, maybe the front is a two piece rotor and it's 6/4 pot? I don't remember, but it's listed and can be purchased on the STI Japan website. As for reliability mods, I honestly don't have any reason to get those, these cars do not need an aos as much as the fa20 wrx, and as I mentioned in the video, the STI motorsports specific tune is just too good to give up by getting it retuned with dp/ebcs and other stage 2 mods. However, other s209 owners have been able to achieve up to +100 whp with dp and elh, but personally I think that would completely upset the balance of the car. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for updates!
@@TheLastS209 Yeah, they’re 4 pot in the rear. They’re listed but, man, are they expensive. As far as the AOS and cooling mod, I’d get them for peace of mind because I’m just paranoid like that haha.
@@TheLastS209 these cars need an Aos more than the Fa lol. Your still running the ej, so it will still have the same fail points as every other ej257. The difference is when it comes to repairing it you can add a few grand to the price based on your badge.
Theres definitely a lot of mods you can do to get more power, stock those cars have a small turbo & fueling for it.. If serious about more power & engine bay aesthetics, go with a rotated turbo kit! Allows turbo to breathe easier, can have a bigger turbo than fits in stock location. exhaust gets upgraded then too. engine bay looks cleaner for sure without top mount intercooler & some other stuff can go away to clean it up
th-cam.com/video/QbC88jaK7SE/w-d-xo.html I have an update video next week, don't get the planted base mount, get the Recaro base mount for it if you're interested in purchasing it.
WOW congrats! its almost one year,if I were you,I would pick up HKS titanium or Cobb titianium for this car,not that loud but you can still save 25+ pounds and keep OEM look, tomei is also an option but it may a little loud and not OEM look
Did you post the list of weight reductions? 300lbs I'd like to see what you're removing! What about throttle response, is it ok? Savagegeese review said it was odd. Larger radiator and 4th cylinder cooling mod?
I did not list it, but went over most of the weight reduction process in the video: lightweight exhaust, battery, wheels/tires, brake rotors, driver bucket seat, and lightweight front/rear braces will net about 200 lbs. The last 100 lbs will come from removing the passenger seat, rear seats, and misc trunk items. I would only do the full 300 lbs when bringing the s209 on track, but for street driving I'd probably stick to a ~200 lb weight reduction
I've actually looked into Rowen, I liked their stuff but actually I narrowed it down to two exhausts. I won't tell you what I got, since it's a secret for another video, but the other one I was interested in was the blitz nur spec full titanium exhaust. It's real pricey for sure, but when modifying an s209, no corners will be cut. Thanks for watching!
I can always put it back on, but honestly this limited edition HKS full titanium (real pure grade titanium, not the shitty tomei titanium quality) is an exceptional exhaust. I probably won't put the s209 muffler back on unless I plan to sell it, which I don't think I ever will.
Good guess, I am getting something titanium, but not from RK. Also, I want to keep it quad exit so single exits are a no go. And no, it's not a Cobb titanium exhaust. Thanks for watching and stay tuned!
Definitely keeping ac, I would remove rear seat for track driving only. S209 does not come with spare tire, they removed that and just gave a tire repair kit which I already removed lol. Ceiling roof and body part swap seems not worth it either. Seems very hard to strip more weight than I already have planned without ruining the car.. but should be around 200-300 lbs for street and track driving. Thanks for watching!
I recently installed the Cobb Titanium on my 2018 STI and the difference in weight compared to the STI performance exhaust was amazing. You mentioned front/rear bracing but I'd think you want to be careful not to impact the handling from the flexible stiffeners they installed, right? I've installed all those parts on my STI and it felt amazing on the track and even day-to-day driving. This is a good video from STI on the flexible parts th-cam.com/video/b82ZOhs_Dzk/w-d-xo.html
The front/rear bracing is definitely on the bottom of my list for modifications that I'm thinking about. The main issue is if in an accident, insurance might look at the replacement of the OEM crash beam and void any claims. I also agree with you, I am not sure how the front/rear bracing would impact handling, it would definitely be in contrast to the flexible parts. I have watched that video and the main goal of the flexible parts is not just to stiffen the chassis (during lateral load), but to make it easier to handle by improving the steering feel by providing preload when going into a corner. It definitely gives the driver a better sense of what the tires are doing mid corner. As for exhaust, I did consider the Cobb titanium, but I really wanted something unique, while maintaining the quality, durability, and sound tuning that was originally provided by the STI performance muffler. I should have a video in the spring, hopefully by then I'll receive the exhaust and do an unboxing/reveal video. Thanks for watching!
I actually noticed a little less drone with the Cobb vs the STI Perf exhaust but not much difference in volume. I recently added the GS UEL headers which gave it a deeper, throatier tone. Compared to other STIs I see out at the track and on the road I'm still by far the quietest! 😆
@@gran_turing sounds like the perfect combination to me, the gs uel is the only header I'd consider. They have great data on their website showing that the OEM header is designed for better lower response, but the gs header makes more power from 3500 rpm onward, while maintaining the rumble we all love. As for now, I'll stick with the OEM header until I feel like I'm lacking power at the track. As of now, the s209 is a beautifully balanced machine. Just needs to go on a diet lol
I had both of those on my 2015 STI launch edition, I went full bolt on e85 and made 400 whp. The car drove like trash compared to the s209 which has a completely revised tune from Subaru Tecnica International in Japan. The driveability of the S209 is worlds apart from a regular STI, which is why I won't be making any engine modifications or doing any pro tunes. Also, I'm already faster on track with the S209 making roughly 370 hp compared to the 400 whp STI I built. When people say you can build a regular STI to be faster than this, those ppl don't understand how special the S209 is- it was built by people who do real Motorsports racing. Thanks for watching!
If you keep this car in full stock form, each day that will pass you will have an even rare jewel in hands. Just keep it.
I have a 2021 sti limited. I am so jealous of the s209
anti gravity battery, tomei full exhaust, bucket seats, koyo rad, some light wheels with pilot sports.
