Absolutely adore your Dufy Cable sweater. The polished and precise knitting juxtaposed with the loosey-goosey, painterly pops of embroidery is just perfection. The x-ray gloves are also amazing. All your makes are incredible!!
Athena you smiling energy is so nice to watch. Your projects are stunning and your enthusiasm in describing them adorable. Thank you for the effort you put in to making these podcasts. Please know it is appreciated. I wish I wish I wish I could bet my hands on that Duffy pattern. Yours is so AMAZING.
I follow and have followed dozens of knitting podcasts and instagram accounts, and I am yet to encounter anyone who is nearly as talented and creative as you. You'll have a great future as a knitwear designer. You should try to publish your knitting designs in laine magazine or other publications xx
I think you are generous in giving your sock on sock pattern for free or a donation. One day you will have the finances to hire tech writers and knit testers so don't give up young lady. You can actually knit your heart out and all of your stitch definitions are exquisitely done. I enjoy watching your podcast and hope you put out a ton so I can learn from you. Don't mind about your accent because I understand you perfectly while on the other hand if I were speaking Chinese you wouldn't understand me. Lol!!! You keep going with this podcast because I think this is merely a stepping stone for your brillance and your stupendous knit making. I am 72 years old and brand new to knitting. I love seeing young people venturing out on new adventures. Promise to never quit. Wishing you the very best. Don't let anyone take advantage of you! Anxiously awaiting your next podcast. Ms. Hurt.
Thank you so much for the encouragement! I don’t think I’ll give up knitting ever! My energy for pattern writing or video making may come and go, but I’ll always be knitting and improving my craft!😃
I agree so much with not wanting/needing so much hand-holding in a pattern. I feel best when I can have more freedom and creativity with my handmade items. Specific stitch counts and “here’s exactly what you do for each stitch for your entire project” is way less helpful than providing inspiration and techniques and ways to use them creatively. ❤
Hello from Italy, I recently found your podcast and love it! You also have very cute pattern, I especially love the socks of socks! Looking forward to explore more of your channel
Athena, you are just a delight- so many talents and interests- love your creativity and curiousity. The music at the end was beautiful. Your podcast is a refreshing change- there are so many now that all knit the same patterns and follow the same format. Thank you.
I think the entrelac squares would look great in a vest. People are mad for vests right now. It would look so sweet with jeans. I think you mean like a harlequin, a French clown with the pointy shoes and hat with bells on. But maybe you could make it easy on yourself by making the squares bigger. Love the colour combination, beautiful! Maybe I'll pop in to your shop when I come out to BC.
Definitely! I’ve seen Entrelac vests with bigger squares, and sweaters too! A harlequin sounds like what I imagined. I didn’t know the word. I’d knit bigger squares for any future Entrelac projects for sure 😆!
So happy to have come across your videos. Love all the projects you shared, so thank you for sharing. And, I just sent friend request through Goodreads. Congratulations on your job. I too work in city government and am a social worker. We all depend so much on our HR team, so you will contribute so much to the employees and the people they serve.
New subscriber. Love your knitted objects. They look very intricate and beautiful. I just ventured into sock knitting and am addicted. Since I only know how to knit cuff down (right now), I'm going to try and learn toe up...soon...😊
I love your hint for the i-cord. I think I will do the same with mine. I get quite frustrated when the i-cord is too stretchy. Yes, the cowl reminds me of a circus too. It is very colorful and happy.
You're awesome Athena. I'm going to purchase your pine & fir sweater pattern which I love. I only hope to do as good a job as you did. Love your channel! Happy Year of the DRAGON!
I think I need some sock socks in my life! Glad to hear you're enjoying your new job - I'm about 6 weeks away from submitting my PhD (also in mechanical engineering) and I definitely need a gap year afterwards. I've been told that it is possible to enjoy working again after a thesis so its good to hear that's worked for someone else too!! 😅
I’d love to knit the Dufy! Yours is just gorgeous, Athena! I just had a quick scout on Ravelry and the Honeycomb Aran by Yarnspirations has a similar cable pattern. Also, the Dreams of Aran by Drops has a similar shoulder construction. Both are free patterns. I wonder if I can hack them together 🤔I’ve heard Drops pattens aren’t the best written but maybe…
georgeous knits!! your sweater is amazing as are all your knits. totally agree that Japanese patterns are amazing but the sizing limitations are a challenge for me since i usually knit pretty large sizes since im a large or x=l and usually knit a smaller guage than called for because of my local climate.
What kind of work does your hubs do? I got your sock socks and am so excited to start them. Your knitting is beautiful! I love audio books and knitting!
You make wonderful things, the Dufy cable sweater is perfection! I looked up the Rosental sweater because i wanted to make one, but its not size inclusive, so i don‘t make one 😢
Sorry to hear that! Maybe with changing gauge and yarn thickness you can size it up or down, but the Rosental is indeed a complicated pattern to grade :(
Daruma actually rereleased the Dufy pattern kits a month or so ago, I'm not sure if they're still up now but I was able to snag myself one! Yours turned out super well and I'm excited to start mine once I wrap up a couple other projects
Such amazing talent! Your posts are such a treat. The entrelac cowl is very reminiscent of a jester's costume. Since the Chinese yarns that you use are not available here in the USA, are there any brands from Temu or Ali Express that you could recommend?
I love Kika's hood but I thought her photos showed it a little short in the front. Did you expand it or do you maybe just have a smaller head? I love yours, the way it comes right to the front of your face. And it's so pretty down, too. Just as a cowl.
I knitted the same as the pattern for the hood. I think my row gauge might be a bit tighter than Kika’s, and also I drew the I-cord a bit tighter so it covered my head nicely. And I do have a small head!
@@SeedlingStitch Anyway, I love your work. You must be a brilliant person do do all that you do, and learn so quickly. If you design, did you see the grey vest Princess Kate is wearing, the perfect design I thought but way out of my budget. I'd love to knit it myself though. There's a waist-length one and a high-low version. it looks like a fine rib made with a double-knit weight?

Oh I love your description of the Dufy! Thank you!
the sock socks are so cute!
That Dafy cabled sweater is amazing, although crazy-complicated. Your embroidery really takes it to another level. It's amazing
Thank you!

Welcome!! I learned cuff down first too, but now I only do toe up!
Admire the Dufy sweater. Perfect design and execution!
The cowl reminds me of Nelly the Elephant. So beautiful 😻
Oh thank you!
Love the socks!
You could use your left over yarn as stuffing for another project!
I can use the ugly leftover yarn for stuffing but not the beautiful ones 🥹
@@SeedlingStitch haha that's right!!
Wow, I'm so happy that I just found your podcast! All of your knits are so cute and I love your energy, thank you for sharing with us!
Welcome!!
Beautiful knits!! You really are so talented and I love learning about China and Chinese culture from you. Happy Chinese New Year to you 😊💕
Thank you so much!
I am admiring your cable sweater❤❤it’s an incredible work! Well done!! and you are so sweet🥰 Definitely need to subscribe 😊

The Duffy is stunning!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge in knitting!
You are so welcome!
Liked your knits.

Thank you, I will ❤
❤️👋🏻
Happy New Year Athena love all your makes. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful ❤❤❤
So many lovely things today. Adding you on ravelry!
Yay! Thank you!
I love your cowl. It looks like the Harlequin to me. Happy Chinese New Year! ❤
Beautiful cabled sweater and embroidery. Just make sure that the colored yarn does not bleed. :)
It didn’t!😄
@@SeedlingStitch then, it is indeed absolutely perfect :D
Happy Chinese New Year, dear Athena. I hope you have fun. 🎉 💥 🎆 and i love yr 'sock socks' 😁😁😁 xxx
Thank you 🐲🎉🎉
I love your sock socks =)
I always enjoy learning new patterns from you. The aran sweater is amazing.
I'm so glad!
So great to see you and all your wonderful knitting!
I love your hint for the i-cord. I think I will do the same with mine. I get quite frustrated when the i-cord is too stretchy. Yes, the cowl reminds me of a circus too. It is very colorful and happy.
Yes! I love how joyful the cowl looks 😄
I just finished my second rosental sweater! i love it ❤
Beautiful knits, thank you for sharing your designs. Congrats on your new job.
Thank you ❤
You're awesome Athena. I'm going to purchase your pine & fir sweater pattern which I love. I only hope to do as good a job as you did. Love your channel! Happy Year of the DRAGON!
Thank you! Happy lunar new year!
Okay I love hearing you speak Chinese - such a beautiful language! I’m obsessed with this cable knit sweater - so so so pretty! Happy New Year!
Thank you! I’m always curious how Chinese sounds like for a non-speaker! I don’t have the privilege of that experience any more 🤭!
I think I need some sock socks in my life!

The Japanese designer Michiyo does 4-size knitting. Maybe you can check her out!
That first sweater is so beautiful! Such a pity the pattern is not easily available.
I know!!

I know Lotus Yarn is on Ali Express, and ShiKe has some of their yarn on Amazon, but not all of them.
