I did a major mistake when i first started tapering.I did it cold turkey from 8mg to 0mg. I had horrific withdrawal, but this time, i tapered slower and in a longer period of time. I think a huge part of this is changing your *relationship* with meds (and drugs). You have to remember that you are on subs to allow you to change the way you treat medication.
When you decide to taper (.25mg for example), you will focus on the ‘lack’ of what you’ve got. Rather, if you approach it like “I’m doing this specifically because I’m proving I don’t need this,” then that psychological withdrawal will turn to a decision, not a fight.
Take the ‘disease’ out of addiction and add the choice back in. After all, that is what subs give you the chance to realize. Seize it. And do it SLOW for the love of god. This is not a sprint. Use this time to train your brain *over time* that you have control. Each time you do this, you will build strong receptors that overtake your impulses and give you a strong reward of confidence. Withdrawal occurs mainly because you’re focusing so much on what you’re not getting rather than what you ARE getting back.

I’m sorry but that last part about withdrawal happens when you focus on what you’re not getting is absolutely ridiculous. Maybe if you’re barely on this stuff but if you’ve been on it for years you’re gonna feel like shit sometimes if you cut the meds too fast or go cold turkey- regardless of focusing on what you’re getting back lol. It’s like saying when you’re freezing to death in the arctic you’re actually only dying because you’re focusing on how cold it is 😂

So I just wanna say I never thought I would be off of Suboxone until I found your video, I had zero hope. I follow the program to the letter and I’m proud to say I’m 5 days without it after I took my last .25mg, I’m not gonna say it was a walk in the park ( I only stayed on the .25 for a week before I came off) there was hardly any withdrawal symptoms, drastically different feeling even from .50mg, taper down is key, also like he says don’t take your dose when your feeling bad because the mind is powerful and will make you think you need something when you really don’t. I would suggest if you start feeling bad instead of going straight to the dose go take a hot shower and relax then when you get out take the dose, that way when you start feeling bad just go take a shower first so your not linking the bad feeling to take the dose rather it’ll be a hot shower which will help with body aches and restlessness legs. Also idk why but honey was a god send , make some oat meal and just pour a bunch of honey in there and idk why it is but it helps. The only drawback is that I’m having trouble sleeping but if that’s the only negative side affects I’ll take it ! Remember everyone your not alone in your struggle and god will help you if you call out to him with an open heart!

Once I understood that I was able to allow myself to feel uncomfortable & be OK with it. . Plus knowing the comfort level I was at, wasn't anywhere close to how withdrawal feels helped as well..so yes I was uncomfortable but at least I wasn't writhing on the floor sweating and vomiting. Holly cow this is awesome, I really needed to see this. Talking to my doctor today about tapering from 8mg to 6mg per day, & I'm going to ask him about this.
For me personally, I'm breaking up 8mg tablets, & I'm noticing a need for smaller tablets to ensure accurate dosing. When I eventually get down to 0.25mg doses, that will be nearly impossible to measure accurately from a tablet that contains thirty-two 0.25mg doses.
I feel that moving to 2mg tablets will be important for me psychologically to feel as though I'm still taking an entire dose, & not just a fraction of what I should have to feel comfortable.
I believe it's easier to cut strips accurately into small, even doses, but for tablets I feel that changing to a different size will be very important for me so I can accurately follow a taper such as this.
Thanks for the great information! 😃

When I cut the 2mg piece down I sometimes get restless legs before bed or wake up really early in the morning uncomfortable. However, this is not every night, just my body adjusting to the decrease in the subs. So far so good, started mediation and keeping up has been incredible. Jason Stephenson and the Honest Guys on TH-cam are my go to. If I have time I meditate mid-day especially on my days off and basically every single night when I go to sleep. Been working out 5 days a week which is the most important. Lastly, I've been going back to church, this may not be your cup of tea but if you used to go or have questions about spirituality this is exactly where you should be.

March 2019, 8 mg when I woke up and 4 mg at 5pm.
April 2019, 8 mg when I woke up and 2 mg at 5pm.
May 2019, 8 mg when I woke up and tried my best to cut out my second dose. Now here’s when it gets tricky so to speak. Since cutting the strips I keep the extras. If I feel uncomfortable in the evening hours I would take a little piece, probably 1mg or so (eyeballed) just to level me out. After a few days my body would adjust to the drop.
July 2019 (so two months on this dosage). 6 mg in the morning. Now I continue the same plan each drop, have a sliver of subs in the evening if I felt crappy or couldn’t sleep.
August 2019, 4mg in the morning. During August/September I would cut a little piece off the 4 mg and keep it with me just in case I needed it at night.
October 2019, down to 2 mg. Definitely felt this drop compared to all the others. Now it’s all above positive outlook. Was it horrible? Absolutely not, just a little bit of discomfort but nothing terrible. Working out, lifting weights, cardio or both has done wonders.
Now it’s almost November and been cutting a sliver off the 2mg strips. Keeping that sliver of subs with me just in case. For the past week there’s days I don’t need to take that sliver and a few day’s that I took it, most of the time right when I lie down to sleep.
      Any other questions feel free.

@@mikeylikesit3393 Do you find that knowing that you have extra subs kinda helps with the mental aspect of it? Like you know you have a kind of safety net if it gets too bad, and that allows you to push through it easier than if you didn't have any subs left? It helped when I weaned from Neurontin to have a few in reserve when I took the final leap to nothing. The mind is powerful and I've sent myself into withdrawal just knowing and stressing, when I used to run out, about not having any the next day. Even after taking my daily dose, the mental stress and focusing on it, made me start having withdrawal symptoms, but as soon as I calmed myself down, it went away.

I'm so happy I found this channel! I just weaned myself off of Neurontin with no withdrawal, and I've tapered from 100mgs of methadone to 69mgs since early summer. I'm aiming to taper completely off by this time next year. I'd kinda like it to be sooner than that, but I've been following the clinic's recommended medically supervised taper of 2mgs every other week. I've asked if I could drop by 10mgs once or twice, and if I felt bad I could always go back up a few mgs and resume the 2mg drop, but they won't approve it. My mom recently switched to Suboxone from methadone at 30mgs. She's only taking a eighth of a pill per day, but she's nervous about weaning completely off that, as well. It's very fortuitous that I found y'all when I did! I'm bout to do a marathon session and listen to your vlogs!

Some doctors are overdosing, these are either in for the kickbacks or clueless. If your habit is on the high side, no pun intended, you may need to get up to 16mg, BUT start with 2mg and add 2mg every TWO hours until you're comfortable. Once you're comfy you can quickly drop down to 8mg per day, there are studies that show a receptor threshold at 8mg, anything over that is just wasted and not healthy. But there are some outliers because we are all different. Some doctors give up to 24mg per day, quackery or criminals.

Going on 17 years now, time flies! So this is just me, but I've never been to a meeting and I don't try to stay fired up for my recovery, but rather everything else in my life that I love. I'm fired up to be healthy and strong, I'm fired up to be a good dad and husband, to be successful in the areas of my life that matter to me. I think one of the biggest reasons for my sustained recovery is that I never focused on it (recovery), I just focused on what I wanted to do and none of those things allowed for drugs to be in my life. Find what you love and it will pull you from your addiction, instead of trying constantly to run from it, avoid it or fight it. Late to the meeting here but I just got down to 2mg around 9am.... and then my 2nd and final dose around 4PM of another 2mg... going to stay here for a week or so and then taper again.... reddit has been a great source of info as well.... read one comment about the person waking up and the colors were brighter and they were out of the fog... that motivated me like crazy! I have been on auto pilot since 2017 and miss the old me... I will say "doctors" prescribe this stuff on the reckless side... I was prescribed the tablets so I'm using a pill cutter but I am pretty determined... sorry for being all over the place with my thoughts but if you're reading this good luck! Thanks for the video! I will ask if anyone has any tips on managing the dosage of the pill forms..... Thanks again.

11 - 12 year opiate problem. 6 months ago I was finally ready to quit. Suboxone helped a lot but after 6 months felt like it was time to quit it. Started the first week on 4mg from 8mg. Then second week jumped down to 2mg. So far I've had no discomfort so far but I think it's majorly due to my mental state now and being ready to finally cut the string to the past.

I’ve been on it for 7 years and I built a life at one point I could never dream of. Cut to now, I’m having such a hard time. I don’t drink. I don’t use any mind altering drugs, other than nicotine and caffeine. But suboxone has turned me into an anxiety filled mess. I’ve tried to taper so many times but every time I want to go back up, my doctor allows me to. I feel so frustrated. Trying another taper, yet again.

How are you doing bro? I’m taking your advice! I only been on subs for 1 1/2 weeks and I’m taking them because I just got off 60mg methadone and 1mg of xan so. My Dr started me on 12mg for 2 weeks to see if I can get comfortable from the withdrawals I had the first 3 days that Emergency Room gave me subs they gave me 24mg the first day that’s was hell worst withdrawal for the first 3 days no sleep on Subs but on day 5 and 6 I was sleeping a bit it’s weird my body is like NUMB? but I know it’s working with the craving and withdrawal in the last 3 days but I’m still low on energy like 65% I just want to get comfortable and start a taper because I don’t want to be on this for years and years. Day by day i guess. I hope your feeling better tho.

I started it because I was in pain and doctor wouldn't give me anything for my pain. So I started taking this and it helped eith the pain. The weird part about my journey on this is I only taken about 1/8th (probably less) of a 4mg strip 3 to 4 times a day. To much made me sick and this is what worked for me. I don't have a clue how people can take a whole strip and not pass out or anything

Doc started me at 8mg 4x a day. (Was on 60-100 mg of oxy daily, would run out of my 30 day script in 16-17 days then do kratom, approx. 5 grams 2x a day till my next refill). Going into day 24 and I'm already down to 2mg 2x a day of suboxone. I'm not forcing myself to taper quickly, I just don't feel any craving or withdrawal at all. I know as my dose gets lower I'm going to need to slow the taper. I wouldn't rule out using kratom as a bridge between coming off the sub completely and being clean.

I am currently taking point five milligrams of Suboxone in the morning noon and then at night so I would say I'm on about 1.5 mg a day it has only been about two weeks since my last opiate use so I think I'm doing well being on that low of a milligram in such a short time frame just hoping that it will minimize my withdrawals in the end coming off of this completely I'm always seeing or hearing stories about people coming from a high milligram per day to nothing in a long period of time but what about going from a low dose in the beginning and getting off in a short period Of time

  •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I was down to .5 for a month or two. Even got down to .25 for a while and just couldn’t get off it. I’m with a new doc back up to 4 mg a day just switched to subutex or a generic of it. Do you think this will be easier to taper off then Suboxone since that has naloxone which also binds to receptors. I think it will. I feel better it’s only been few days off subs and on just bupe. And I definitely feel different. I think naloxone is a problem. Heard it binds to your opiate receptors stronger than the actual buprenorphine. Even when you think about it just doesn’t make sense. Naloxone is definitely more then just a blocker. I’ve heard of people getting off subs and just taking naloxone and that made them feel good and normal Because it binds and fills your receptors.
