I've been wasting so much energy and pain telling myself I'm too old for this.... The up/down and mood changes. I'm glad you did this series of Suboxone/ zubsolve/methadone. In the distant past I had turned to drugs to escape the life I had full of bad memories and marriage. And since becoming clean of all the bad stuff I am obsessed With the thought of now I have to get off this or I'm still using... In the meantime I've had hip replacement hardware in knee several fractures in rib/back looking for pain relief options when I've already got the answer. I need to just except the medicine I need is not the Drugs I take and stop trying to put a label on it and relax find a suitable safe dose and get on with it. Until today I've been miserable how can I"detox" and deal with my pain I'm too old (53) to be going through withdrawal every month. Thanks for putting it in perspective. Now how do I find the sweet spot of dosing ... Thank you
I know you're not blowing up or anything on TH-cam, but (as I'm sure you're well aware of) there are a lot of us that find your VERY informative, a lot of the times recovery channels gloss over a lot of the details, but you dive right in. Eventually you'll gain a really big audience if you keep at it :) I'm just saying this cause a lot of channels kind of fizzle out over time because they don't gain enough support/traction, I don't want yours to be included in that category.
Been on various opiates since 2007. Fast forward to March 2017 when I started Suboxone on 10mg day. Quickly got down to 6mg and stayed there for about 4 years. 4/27/2022 I was on 4.5mg. As of 10/9/2022 I'm on 1.125mg with goal to get to 1ng by end of October 2022.
@@RJSPARKS4 Yeah, the half life is a mofo. I jumped back in November from .25mg but started feeling slight symptoms after a few days. I think .5mg is the lowest point I could go. Insomnia and muscle twitching was pretty bad but that was all. It wasn't too hard. You can do this if I can.
Day 36! I'm free of Suboxone after 8 mg strips for 16 years. My Doc tapered me slowly and the insomnia was the worst part. We had to try a few things for that. Sneezing and yawning but NOTHING like acute withdrawal. I'm feeling normal again. I stopped using when Oxy's were still being prescribed, so I didn't have to resort to heroin or fent. Suboxone helped save my life.
Nicole, thank you again for taking time out of your life to come see us. Dr. G, myself, and the rest of the team felt like you were part of the family. We cannot wait to see you again !
@@Discovering_Nicole1 Nicole I’m so proud of you. I know I told you before but I have to say it again, what you’re doing is so amazing. You are helping so many people. And I’m so glad I found your channel last year and Dr. B.
I started at 16mg & have tapered down to 10mg so far. I'm actually being induced in the morning with my 2nd child so I'm currently prescribed to Subutex & am switching back to Suboxone the 1st week of September. I give her mad props for dropping down the way she did!! I tapered from 10mg to 8mg and experienced anxiety, irritability & cravings. I hope that I'm able to taper down again successfully next month without any problems. I was on 120mg of Methadone for 4 years prior and relapsed on Heroin due to stopping cold turkey WHICH I dO NOT RECOMMEND To ANYONE. Before methadone maintenance, I was a heroin addict since 2011. This is no joke and it's good to see someone successfully tapering because they want to. It gives me hope because I'd love one day not need anything in order to function but the thought also scares me. I heard some people have to stay on medication forever, is this true? Part of me wants to do that so I know I wont relapse. I'm a mother now and want to do whatever necessary to stay clean. Wishing her continued success! I'm going to subscribe to her channel so thanks for sharing!!
Good luck on deliveryPleaseeee, make decision to stay on or off for the right reason and find a physician that understands what I mean and leps you maske the right decision
Hi i hope your getting on well now i started on heroin in 1990 i was on heroin and 80ml of metherdon for over 33 years im now about 10month clean i read your story i hope your getting on well now iv bin on suboxon my self aswell the way i got off subys was i droped my self 1ml every week but i dont advise doing it that fast drop slowly i did my own detox at home it took me a few months to get right but m8 going threw all that pain to get normal was so werth it my point is life is for liveing i wasted 33 years on the crap dont be like me its just not werth it m8 good luck
I want 60 days taking 8 mg in the morning 8 mg in the afternoon I stopped but pray to God then not go through withdrawals I stopped cold turkey felt great did not go through any detox with from zero to 60 days no detox whatsoever either I'm a freak or it is a blessing from God Amen
Hey, guys. Someone in my FB Suboxone Support Group linked this video. Great information! I just wanted to mention that I really also understand the pressure from family to get off Suboxone. My mother, while she agrees that this medication has saved my life, in a way feels that I don’t “need” it, or that my addiction problem is in my head, and that I can just stop using, cold turkey, and pretty much “get over it.” Then there are so many people that do not know I take it, because I’m afraid of being judged. I wish the stigma would stop once and for all. Dr. B, you seem like a great doctor and someone who looks like they’d be very easy to talk to. I hope to see more of your videos. ❤️
Dr. B, I'm so glad there has been Attention given to the Opiate Crisis in our country, it doesn't seem to be taboo to talk about it as in years past. People are seeing that this addiction can and has grabbed people of varying ages, ethnicity, the homeless, the poor and the wealthy. To say there's a stereo type of an addict is Naive, Profesional Ballplayers, Politicians, Drs., Cops, Dads and Soccer Moms have been affected. There is Real Help out there. With people such as Nicole and yourself Dr. B, Recovery is Possible.
This interview is amazing. Thank you for having Nicole on. I just found her channel too. I am just starting a recovery support channel. i am a Recovery Coach and want to help people with resources and guidance. Your channel is great and has great information.
Thanks for this, Dr. (and Nicole!) I once made the mistake of just stopping Suboxone ‘cold turkey’. What a huge mistake…closest to death I’ve ever felt. I have been weaning myself down and am now at 2mg. taken only when needed (maybe every 3-4 days) and get stronger in those time lengths, too. I can finally see the finish line.
I started with 4mg daily and reduced it to every other day, rather than daily. After that, I reduced THAT to 2mg every day, and then 2mg every OTHER day. I don’t advise anyone to follow me-listen to your dr. But this was my method by trial and error…buts it’s working. I’m down to (as said) 2mg every few days, and I keep some on hand for the rare occasions when I do have a craving. Fortunately those are fewer and fewer as time goes on.
Great interview I have been on Suboxone for 17 years and you can stay on it your whole life I take around 1mg in the pill form for the last 3 years because I just feel like if I let go I would take something else and I rather just take a low dose of this then anything else.
Hi Doctor B. Its Mike T. I discovered your youtube channel about 7 months ago while going through my recovery from smoking black tar heroin. I was a very dedicated law enforcement officer for 22 years in the Great State of California. I patrolled throughout the state keeping motorists from hurting themselves and killing others. Alcohol should be illegal. That's all I am going to say about that. I retired in 2002 and have done other things since retirement like private investigator, collision investigator for two major motorcycle manufacturers at their proving grounds in Arizona. Then in 2014, I called it quits and fully retired. By 2017 I was extremely bored and allowed myself to become dull and not exciting to my wife and friends anymore. So one day I decided to try smoking heroin off of foil. Wow! All of my aches and pains were suddenly gone. I ran out of tar after 3 days and realized that the aches and pains that I had before smoking tar were now really hurting bad. I bought more tar and the pains went away. During this first month of smoking tar, I convinced myself that I wasn't doing wrong and that tar should be legalized. After 1 year of smoking tar, my life was in the toilet. Even with a steady monthly income from my pension and social security, I lost my two vehicles, my boat, then my beautiful home and my family. I saw the light in 2019 with a 28 day detox / rehab program where I was introduced to Subutex pills. I started out with 2 8 mg pills daily and tapered to 2 2 mg pills daily. Now, I just told my doctor about some family issues that are causing me elevated stress levels, and I asked her to increase my daily dose to 6 mg or 3 pills. She agreed and starting tomorrow I will begin the 6 mg dose for 30 days. At that time, my doctor will question my feelings and make any adjustments necessary. I love your youtube videos. I wish that I lived in Southern California once again. I lived and worked in Malibu, California from 1981 to 1985. Some of the best days of my life. Got to meet and know many celebrities.
Thank you once again for your brilliant way of dealing with this community that really does suffer Dr B and Nicole! Two angels 👼🏻 in this kooky 🌎 world !!! Love you both ♥️
I tapered off Suboxone down to almost nothing. But when I totally stopped it was awful! 2-3 weeks intense withdrawal, 4-6 months of fatigue and depression.
I'm an ex junkie. Last shot of dope was in 2010. In 2012 I lost my left hand across the knuckles to a rubber factory accident. I was put on morphine and dilaudid for 14 months when I decided to switch back to subs in 2014. I've had opioids in my blood one way or another for 20 years. The subx was the hardest to kick and I'm still early in this. I was at 20mg a day. Way more than necessary. I decided in 2019 to taper on my own. I didn't have the doctors support. I cut from 20 to 8 to 4 MG in the first 2 months with no problems at all. It's when I dropped below 2mg that I started really feeling the energy loss and started losing sleep. In the end I was cutting an 8 MG strip into slivers as low as 0.25mg. I'm estimating obviously. Even after being on such a low dose before stopping, the withdrawal still hit me hard. Not like H withdrawal, but it was very slow and delayed. The first 3 days I was like this will be cake. I got this. After 3 or 4 days the withdrawal really set in. Legs feel like running a marathon. No sleep. Pupils swollen like pennies and blurred vision. Can't concentrate. Sweats, chills. Anxiety..... It's very slow and drawn out. I didn't start to feel even slightly okay until like the 13th day off. That was the first night I got a solid 5 hours of sleep. I'm only 16 days off now. But I'm feeling better finally. Taking vitamins every morning including b12. Doing little exercises. I've wanted to cut this leash for many years. Subs very likely saved my life years ago. I can't say the same for many of my friends. But they'd have kept me on indefinitely. You just gotta be ready. I spent 3 YEARS tapering from this stuff. Go at your own pace! Hopefully you have a doctor that is supportive. I wasn't so lucky nor could I afford the visits anymore. I stock piled my meds as they were over prescribed anyway. These types of videos and conversations helped me through this. Good luck to anyone attempting to kick this stuff. Now the real challenge begins I suppose! Much love to you all!
I think anything below 2mg it doesnt saturate all of your receptors. That is why you begin feeling symptoms when going below that amount. I am basing this on my own experience after 15 years of addiction
Dr.B, Thankyou so much for Helping me see my True Potential! Thankyou for Empowering me. Thankyou for your support!!! I will be back in California Sooner than later!!!!
WOW!! Thank you SO MUCH Nicole and Dr. B. I started weaning off of Suboxone about, maybe 4-5 weeks ago. In that time I have gone from 16mg down to 4mg and for the past week and a half or more I have been living a litteral nightmare. My doctor who prescribed the Suboxone has been no help at all. He fits the description of clinicians that Dr B talked about who basically don't know what they're doing. He actually suggested that since it's been almost 2 weeks that I've been at this dose, that I decrease it again! I think that divine guidance led me to you because I was feeling terrified before watching you and now I feel confident about possibly going up 2mg and getting my sanity back and staying at that dose for a good 90 days as you described Nicole. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I am so impressed with both of you and the amazing work you are doing. Blessings to you and all who join this movement!
Just the vid I needed as I’m tapering atm, great to c Nicole she is a big part in a lot of people’s recovery, she is a great support to many.& we need more doctors like u Dr b. Respect to both of you, from Australia.
Yes we need better educated doctors on this subject in Australia. I asked my doc the best way to taper and he said “it’s up to you” 🤦♀️ so I did my own research and did it myself.
@@maclardy I’m in Sydney also and I haven’t found a doctor that actually knows about this in a long while. We used to Have a great doctor in this field who worked out of centre of addiction medicine in Westmead but no one good since.
@@kristinetannous6150 I haven’t either & I’m married to a doctor but addiction is not his specialty. A psychiatrist prescribes for me but I feel like he’s “checked out”. Dr B’s info is invaluable.
I have been on 2 mg for years now, and I did believe it was not a problem if I had to stay on for life. In 2016 I went to in patient rehab for multiple substances, but was also forced to go off my suboxone at that time, and it was literally the worst thing I have ever experienced in my life. I was in pain/ no sleep, diarrhea, depression, anxiety, shakes everything for 45 days until I finally get myself kicked out on purpose. I had to go back on the medication first thing when I got home. The reason I am now not accepting that I will need to stay on it for life is because I am a teacher and I want to teach out of the country and can not do that while I’m on this long term medication. So o feel trapped now not being able to live the life that I want to live. It literally seems impossible to come off of 1-2 mg a day to nothing, even when I decrease by .5mg. In rehab they have my naltrexone about a week and a half in and it threw me into rapid withdraw and was the worst experience of my life. I’m just honestly at my wits end on what to do, and I can’t take 2-3 months out of my life to be sick at this point I have responsibilities and a job that I can’t leave.
Best Collaboration Ever! My two favorite people in one video🤘🤘 love and respect to the both of you 💚💜 You've both been a huge part of my growth and recovery 🙏🙏
Well I feel your spirit over this thing my friend. In fact, I was asking Nicole about you. I hope for you many long years of health, wealth, and prosperity. I think I would spot you in a crowd my friend. Peace!!
Im starting my tapering process for the start of 2023. My husband is who helped me get into recovery as well and im so sick of suboxone and i am determined to get off this crap by the end of the year. It's so expensive and im tired of it
Exactly what I say I’m on 4mg tapered down from 10, and I’ve said once I get down lower, if I get off ok, if for some reason I have to stay on small dose for years or rest of my life that’s fine with me, bc I won’t go back to using herion ever !
Ian Mangham same I’m happy to stay on a low dose of sub, it stops me from using, and I’m 45 now , got my shit together finally+ I’m raising my 5 year old grandson.
@@melissacunningham3211 beautiful. Yes it's not about if we get off subs or not. Staying on low dose is wise. Being on herion is what we do not ever want to go back to. No herion. 2 mg for life might be my routine and I'm ok with it. I'm clean and no prison in 6;years crime and drug free so it works for me too. Hang in there and enjoy life
Nicole and Dr. B have been my biggest go to people/ channels for my own recovery as well as helping others. When I was 2yrs clean I actually talked to Nicole about being on a maintenance medication and feeling like I wasn't clean because I was on it and people telling me I shouldn't been off it by then. I'm not 5yrs 8mos clean.
Wow I learned so much from this young lady and you Dr. I just got out if the ER I was on methadone 60mg for over 13 years and my family pcp DR that was prescribing my meds was indicted and charged with prescribing too much meds and didn’t tell us until 2 weeks before and no Drs would help me long story short i couldn’t get a my prescription filled and the only option the ER gave was to start on suboxone because I didn’t qualify for the opiate abuse program that I went to get help because I was prescribed for pain management so they told me to go to the ER and get on a dose til I’m able to see my other medi cal Dr so I’m at a cow level of 7 on the withdrawal level and I’m starting to feel the effects and will start my first dose pretty soon! This video and her story is so good for my mindset! I’ll definitely be watching more videos and subscribing. I just have to take this fight day by day! 🙏 thanks for the great video gives me hope! Thank you guys. Much love Dr B and the young lady!
I’ve been on suboxone for a little over 6 yrs and went from 8mg to 2mg and tried to taper all the way down and found that less than 2 mg I started to have insomnia and became lethargic so went back up to 2mgs. I’ve accepted that I’ll probably be on it for life and I’m ok with it because now the opiates out there are even more deadlier. This fentanyl is just killing so many people.
Both my sisters got clean cold Turkey I’m doing the same it’s 100% possible and it’s not as bad if your ready to get off if your not than yes subz are better than street dope but these doctors will keep you on this forever they make a living this way
I'm in a state run program cuz I don't have insurance & no way could I afford going to a regular doctor 😭 they've had to change doctors so many times it's insane.. but the last one I saw was an older man & I guess they said because of his age he's a liability.. & the poor guy keeps asking the MAT program director (I'm really close to her she's amazing 😭) if she can get his job back & it broke my heart.. you definitely remind me of him 🤍 all these different doctors have different opinions on how the suboxone should be used but this doctor shared your views on it.. keep up the great work I love this channel!

Dr B, great video! Thank you for this information! You look tired here, hope you aren’t working too hard! Take it easy. Also -- any chance for another reddit AMA? Your last one was so insightful for me. All the best.
Everyone everyone listen to me if you're on Suboxone I don't care 18 mg 8:00 in the morning 8 at night and a little over whatever 8 in the morning 8:00 at night cut it back to 6:00 go a week after that taper down again another milligram do it milligram by milligram when you get to one cut it into fours then take a quarter a quarter a quarter then nothing the next day for a week do the same then go to a half quarter in the morning quarter at night the next week a quarter and that's it for a week then go to nothing almost no withdrawal whatsoever don't let them scare you it's easy
That is how my dr is prescribing me..12 mg for 2 days..10 mg for 2..8 mg for 2...6 mg for 2..till its down to .25 mg for 4 days(prescribed me for only 15 days)..and after 0 mg for 5 days..she told me to come see her and planned on to prescribe naltrexone
This people taking subs for years man there isn’t way in hell they can tapper like you describe now if this is done earlier when you first start taking the drug than yes otherwise it takes time to do what you are saying it does make sense but it’s not that easy when someone is taking it for 10 years and plus
I'm 76, house bound from concussion, quit opiates 2 weeks ago for chronic pain I was using, using 1 mg. Suboxone per day & vitamin C megadosing for withdrawal . The opiates stopped relieving pain was the reason I quit and now still have pain but won't go back.
Hi Dr. B and Nicole, Nicole, have you had a perspiration problem? I started at 4mg 12 months ago and that’s where I still am. I get drenched when I exert myself. I’ll work in the yard, mow the lawn, etc., and I have to change my shirt because it’s soaked. And then I feel drained afterward and my system feels like I need to add another 1 or 2 mg. It’s like I sweated out my morning dosage. It’s not fun. Thx, James
Great information! I'd love to come visit your location sometime. Suboxone is a life saver. Thanks for both of you and what y'all do. Blessings to you both.
Thank you Dr B for being available on TH-cam I became addicted to oxycodone from a dental script in April of 2017. I continued my dental reconstruction procedures through April of 2019. When my oxy script ran out, I started smoking heroin to control the pain and by February of 2020, my lifestyle had regressed badly. I checked into a detox / rehab program where I was introduced to Subutex. I was given 8 mg tablets twice a day for 6 months. I was tapered down to 8 mg tablet daily. After another 6 months I was tapered down to 2 mg tablets twice a day. I am currently subscribed 2mg tablets twice a day. I feel that at that dose, I am able to function like a normal and successful man.y wife thinks I am still a drug addict and asks when I will be off Subutex completely. I have tried to taper to mg a day but I dont feel good. I cant sleep without waking up every couple hours, Im yawning and tearing with mild diarrhea. 4 mg daily and I feel good. I have accepted the fact that I may be on Subutex for a long time, but its better than living on the street being addicted to heroin and fentanyl, being afraid when a police car drives by. I hope she gets educated about Subutex. Thanks again for listening.
Doctor....you are speaking my language. Every taper is a personal journey and each person is different. Like Nicole said, if she needs to be on 1mlg for some years, that is perfectly okay. The bottom line is, the person has to be comfortable and safe. Thank you so much for this video. This was an amazing interview.
@@DrBAddictionRecovery Hey girl. This really was a great interview. I enjoyed it so much. I watched stuff on your channel too. I hope you are well. Thanks for the kind response. Have a great day.
Now when you get down to her low dose, you can switch to sublocade, get one 100mg shot and be completely off suboxone in one month forever. I did it, my father in law did it. Weans you off in one month. Works like a charm with now withdrawal symptoms
I only have been taking suboxone 1mg a day for 9 days and I want to stop it from tomorrow because I did the research and I’m scared to continue so would I experience withdrawal? I only took 1mg daily for 8 days?
It's hard to explain the effect of Suboxone. My dose is fairly high still after a few years. There's a feeling of wellbeing and calm. Sometimes if I'm comfortable I might fall asleep. Certainly not what I'd call a high. I'm waiting for when I decide to come off if I ever do. I withdrew from benzos cold turkey 20 years ago. Convulsions for a week then uncomfortable but somehow for me that was the only way I could do it.
What I can’t find is if you tapered down to a quarter piece 2 mg. And want to be done what can I take to help pass the pain. The urge will be there but what can I can do to fix that. I was on perks for years and went on suboxone on the street. Then seen a doctor and progressed from 8mg to 2 mg and what’s next?
If you ever want to travel though too..I’m embarrassed to tell people even of myself after 5 years still. Makes me wonder how far my recovery is. I want to stop and get on sublocade insurance just doesn’t pay for it and it’s 4.1k not 2k per shot now. So disappointed in myself for failing quitting three times.
Thanks Dr. B IM ALL THE WAY OUT HERE IN JERSEY , OUTSIDE OF PHILLY. ITS WAS ON A&E. NORTH PHILADELPHIA IS TERRIBLE. THANK U FROM THE BOTTOM OF MA ❤, 4 YOU DOING THIS... ALSO RTR..... IS LIKE MA CHURCH. U GUYS NAIL THE NAIL ON THE HEAD. GOD BLESS U. BOTH.... Great colllab...
is it possible to taper from methadone im at 5mg now its been hard and i reached the plateau as u call it 5mg is not enought for the body to feel normal even at that dose since 1 month now, would it be advisable to go cold turkey around 3mg? to minimize the lenght of withdrawals id rather go through 3-4 weeks of minimal withdrawals then 3 month of tapering withdrawals, im no expert but id like advice have u recomended this to any patient? thanks
Hey Dr. B...Love your channel... I wanted to get your opinion. I watched a video by Dr. Edwin Salsitz. The channel is PCSS. Basically a patient of his is looking to come off suboxone. She's been on it for awhile. She was concerned about long term use and organ damage and she was looking to get pregnant. He advised her to not come off suboxone, stating that her baby would be totally fine, with only a slight possibility of withdrawal and she could absolutely breastfeed with no problems. What would you advise in the same situation?
I’ve been on it for 15 yrs and tried to taper off a couple months ago but I didn’t have a plan like vitamins anxiety meds and antidepressants like I’m doing this time so I’m finally down to 0.25 with little withdrawals but when I try to jump off at that amount I get badly sick and I have to work and it’s hard trying to cut an 8mg strip down to half of a 0.25 it’s so small I literally can’t pick it up without tweezers..I got this though I’m staying positive
I really need your opinion… I am and have been on kratom for years it’s killing me . Literally. I’m 31 I have an amazing life I want to save but kratom is horrible for me. I was told at my methadone clinic to substitute kratom for methadone because I had lost my insurance and was put out of the program within three days while on 120 mg of methadone within three days I was at 20 mg so on so forth my counselor told me about kratom and now all I wanna do is get away from me. It is ruining my life but I do not know how to and I don’t have time to be sick.
It’s a problem being on long term suboxone because we don’t have any studies on the long term use of suboxone, so we don’t know f it will cause problems. Unlike insulin, where we have decades of history to refer to.
Trying to get off suboxone ugh my doctors won’t give me nothing just guanadine I ended up getting gabbys and other stuff but I don’t wanna take them idk what to do I was doing good than I started Taking my full dose doc also gave me setraline for my mood but I remember last time I took it I heard voices and I forgot to tell him
Do you have success tapering patients using Butrans patch once they are below a mg? This is what my doctor is trying but I’m very sick on just the patch, I don’t feel like I’m getting any medication from it.
Thanks so much, I stand on 16mg per day and have stand on it for 4-5 years now, and i take 8mg in the morning and 8 to the night, and ive been thinking of tapering off, how do you do when you split the dose? Is it better to the hole dose at ones when you tapering?

Hello just tapered off 8mg suboxone buprofrine for chronic pain 3years use , looking back know it caused more pain and exhaustion. I am being treat know with baclofen for sever back spasm and pregamblin and nabolone.
No disrespect intended and I love your videos but there’s no reason why it should take three years to get off Suboxone why would you need to think about it for a year
Hi Mary, many people make the decision too quickly & end up lapsing. So I suggest slowly tapering. It could take 1yr, 2yrs, 3yrs etc. As long as the person is safe & taking it slowly. Look at Nicole for example from Real_Talk_Recovery. She has been tapering since March 2019. She has paused her taper several times bc life happens and there was stresses she needed to deal with. That is the smart way to go about it.
@@DrBAddictionRecovery Well I hate suboxone I’m stuck on it and I can’t get off and there’s no way to relax while you’re taking it all my opiates been blocked by Suboxone
Huge honour to see Nicole & Dr B discussing this topic. My worry is what if someone on MAT gets sick with COVID & needs urgent hospitalisation or ventilation? 😳 Are Hospitals likely to continue the MAT or dismiss it, leaving the patient to go through horrific withdrawals while not being able to say what’s going on? Do u go through withdrawals if you’re on a ventilator?
I would 'think' that hospitals check on that. Somehow they know, there is a list or something, where they know if you are on pain meds or suboxone. But that is only my assumption. Good question! I actually keep a list in my wallet under my licence that lists that and all my antidepressant meds too.
Cool question. I actually answer it on different video. If you are getting to that ventilator stage you will be switch to Fentanyl and/or morphine. If you hopefully do ok, transfer back on
Jolene F hospitals don’t know. I work in the system. Your health records are private. Even then, they tend to prioritise some meds over others with MAT being at the bottom of the list of priorities. Keeping a record with your ID is a great idea - if they’re interested ...
Real_Talk_ Recovery with Nicole Ploudre there’s a lot of “what if” fear in our community. That’s why so many ppl want to get off MAT so fast - why else are they so keen to get off when it works so well? They’re afraid of staying reliant on it only to have it taken away in circumstances beyond their control eg in a hospital emergency setting or if needing urgent surgery but being unable to communicate to inexperienced / overworked medics what they need. Dr’s will overlook MAT & always prioritise BP, asthma & diabetic meds over everything else. MAT can wait.... & wait...& wait.... It’s not routinely kept next to adrenaline or in locked S8 drug cupboards in emergency departments or recovery. Health emergencies happen when hospital pharmacies are closed. This is the catastrophic thinking that keeps yelling at us to get off it when we really don’t want to.
I was cold turkied off of 6mg of ativan after 23 years with phenobarbital before ECT. It was such a disaster I refused the ECT. Now I'm out of hospital 7 weeks. My BP skyrockets and I am so sick. My ativan doesn't work the same. Is there any help for me?
I went cold turkey off 95 milligrams of methodone a day.went through 4 months withdrawals.no,it wont kill you BUT what will kill you is going off of a high dose cold turkey for a period of time and then going back and taking that same dose.you gotta start back on a low dose are you'll O.D..peace
How can you taper when your addictive behavior makes you want to take more and get high. As soon as you take more your right back where you started. I’m considering going back to opiates for 6 months to then go to suboxone for a week.
I just recently got a new doctor and he decided that I was ready to be taken off the saboxone and he tapered me from 16 mg a day down to 2 mg in 10 weeks and told me to stop at 2 mg and the withdrawals I experienced from that was unbearable. I relapsed twice and I’m currently on week two of no saboxone and having sever withdrawal symptoms but I don’t want ti take the saboxone again. How long do the withdrawals last from 1mg or less a day? The withdrawals seem to be worse the second week then the first week of not taking any. I was put on the saboxone bc I had a dr put me on a pain medication and failed to taper me off of them and struggled with it for 12 years and was kept on the saboxone for 2 years. I just need help knowing what can help with the withdrawals.
I’ve been on subduction for at least eight years and seriously wanting to begin the taper process. Just listen to Dr. B and Nicole. It was amazing. Well I can say is listen to what Nicole was saying about how gradual she came down milligram wise everybody’s different. But it sure sounds like a good healthy recipe for clean.
I been on sub 2 m that’s what I started my self with for 2 years than got down to 0.6 and it’s still hard to come off now I’m trying to go down to half of that 0.3 I’ll stay on that for little while than I’ll try taking it every other day now one thing I find to help nobody really talks about is lots of vitamins specially B6 B12 now try to find NMN supplement as well magnesium drink lot of tea and also cut ginger boil it as well all this things will boost your serotonin and dopamine Fores your self to take them when you get off or start little before you’ll se they work it will make your body recover faster and fight stronger mean respond stronger to WD good luck 😊
Pour soul I have tears in my eye when I breed comets like yours message me if I can help you get of this crab without physical WD I did it you will have depression for about month hard depression I can help you with that as well I’m free now if I can do it you can as well I’m no difrent than you and you not different we are all the same power we poses is unimaginable if we just know how to unleash it knowledge is power it’s all in your head
Dr. B and Nicole - Thank you for cracking this disgusting stigma surrounding Suboxone, which has created so much misinformation. When you look at it from an accurate and healthy perspective, you can start to see the many benefits of it. So proud of you both!!!!
You the best doctor B I tried the saboxone for my server back pain n it work fine no chronic pain oh diabetes nerve pain at all omg Jesu Chris I got a little of my life back is a miracle medications
The problem was simply going from 2 to 1 is too big of a jump. That’s a 50% drop. All the other drops were much smaller. Go from 2 to 1.75, then 1.5, and so on. Smaller jumps at the end….

Thank you
Went to Nicole channel and it was terminated?
I know you're not blowing up or anything on TH-cam, but (as I'm sure you're well aware of) there are a lot of us that find your VERY informative, a lot of the times recovery channels gloss over a lot of the details, but you dive right in. Eventually you'll gain a really big audience if you keep at it :) I'm just saying this cause a lot of channels kind of fizzle out over time because they don't gain enough support/traction, I don't want yours to be included in that category.
Thank you William. My main problem lately has been how busy I am. But I am committed to this. Thanks again:)
I agree please keep going always Dr B 🥰
Why won't anyone talk about the half-life, or why it's so difficult to drop the last mg.

Hey, guys. Someone in my FB Suboxone Support Group linked this video. Great information!
I just wanted to mention that I really also understand the pressure from family to get off Suboxone. My mother, while she agrees that this medication has saved my life, in a way feels that I don’t “need” it, or that my addiction problem is in my head, and that I can just stop using, cold turkey, and pretty much “get over it.”
Then there are so many people that do not know I take it, because I’m afraid of being judged.

@@Discovering_Nicole1 too kind Nicole. You keep me excited about my work.
Thanks for this, Dr. (and Nicole!)
I once made the mistake of just stopping Suboxone ‘cold turkey’.
That's awesome! Keep it up!
2 yrs after the fact how has it been for you? Any help is appreciated.
I think anything below 2mg it doesnt saturate all of your receptors. That is why you begin feeling symptoms when going below that amount. I am basing this on my own experience after 15 years of addiction
I was fine on 1mg and even .5 mg. Once I got to .25 I started to get symptoms. Nothing like acute withdrawal.
❤

This is the best video on tapering I've seen. Great interview. I will be sharing this.
Glad you liked it.

@@blondiec498 hey girl, have you tried splitting your dose? 1.5 in the morning & 1.5 in the afternoon??
Great information! I'd love to come visit your location sometime. Suboxone is a life saver. Thanks for both of you and what y'all do. Blessings to you both.
My doc has had me at 8mg for 5 years, he charges $200 a visit now he wants to raise it $300 a month… I need to get off this
Thank you Dr B for being available on TH-cam I became addicted to oxycodone from a dental script in April of 2017.
Dr. B at RTR we’re a movement but more than that WE ARE FAMILY.
We are a FAMILY!
Real Talk Recovery (Nicole’s Channel) is the real deal!!! It’s definitely a family there!!!
Im having to quit cold... day 5 MISERY....
Hey Dorothy, it's me Nicole. Thankyou for your kind words!
@@DrBAddictionRecovery Hey girl. This really was a great interview. I enjoyed it so much. I watched stuff on your channel too. I hope you are well. Thanks for the kind response. Have a great day.
Great video. Brought up alot of great topics
Now when you get down to her low dose, you can switch to sublocade, get one 100mg shot and be completely off suboxone in one month forever. I did it, my father in law did it. Weans you off in one month. Works like a charm with now withdrawal symptoms
Thank you for your help Dr B! Best doc on TH-cam 😀
I only have been taking suboxone 1mg a day for 9 days and I want to stop it from tomorrow because I did the research and I’m scared to continue so would I experience withdrawal? I only took 1mg daily for 8 days?
How did it go with quitting?
Thanks doctor and everyone in the comments wish we can make a chat group!
Great video dr b love ya
Cindy!
What is her channel the one in the description has been terminated??
Keep cutting!
Great video so glad to see you both together 💜
Thank you Erin.
Can you use oxycodone to assist with coming off subs?!
I have i took sub for 3 days then today i do a perc
@@sherylstory7809 I meant to help u get off subs

Great video doc.
Can you address this new withdrawal drug the FDA has approved? I can't remember the name of it, but evidently it's used in Europe.
is it possible to taper from methadone im at 5mg now its been hard and i reached the plateau as u call it 5mg is not enought for the body to feel normal even at that dose since 1 month now, would it be advisable to go cold turkey around 3mg? to minimize the lenght of withdrawals id rather go through 3-4 weeks of minimal withdrawals then 3 month of tapering withdrawals, im no expert but id like advice have u recomended this to any patient? thanks
Does taking 1 mg dose show up on a drug test and if it does, what will it show up as? Does it show up as a narcotic?
Thank you so much....much appreciated 😊❤
💪
Currently doing a taper from 24 to 8 mg,2 weeks time, only been on suboxone 5 months, feel crappy,is 16 mg taper to much at once, whats your opion?
Yes that is too much. Give us a call 1800-779-4715
Trying to get off suboxone ugh my doctors won’t give me nothing just guanadine I ended up getting gabbys and other stuff but I don’t wanna take them idk what to do I was doing good than I started
Taking my full dose doc also gave me setraline for my mood but I remember last time I took it I heard voices and I forgot to tell him
Please make a video if we can come off totally from Buvidal.
Thank you!
Is there any way i can taper down to the point that i feel no withdrawal, or little. Age is really effecting me going straight cold turkey
Sublocade

Nicole I really relate to feeling the need to get off MAT. just to Please others. I think Addicts have a People Pleasing mentality. Nicole this interview you have done has touched on so many. There is so much more to Addiction than the Armchair Gods can comprehend. Again Nicole Thank you for your Service. Anyone who trashes you is looking up to you ✌✌✌
King, is that RP?
@@DrBAddictionRecovery Yes Sir , it is. Did you happen to ever see them or him. I saw him in his 1st solo outing in 83 and numerous times throughout the 80s. Saw him and JP in 95 and 98. Saw some JP in 86 and 88 as well. Thank you again Dr. B for what you do ✌
Hello just tapered off 8mg suboxone buprofrine for chronic pain 3years use , looking back know it caused more pain and exhaustion. I am being treat know with baclofen for sever back spasm and pregamblin and nabolone.
Dr. B you’re awesome great Dr who really cares
cool video but Nicoles channel was blocked because of violation of TH-cam community guidelines..:/
Dr. B Addiction Recovery I should get that recommendation as my 1st tattoo 😂
I’ve came off of it 3 times by myself. Yes you can. You have to supplement though.
With what? Thanks.
What do you supplement with please
I’ve “heard” for YEARS that 2mg keeps you out of withdrawal
I unfortunately have to manage this on my own. From 12mg to 2mg now.
Is tapering from methidone kill you
I went cold turkey off 95 milligrams of methodone a day.went through 4 months withdrawals.no,it wont kill you BUT what will kill you is going off of a high dose cold turkey for a period of time and then going back and taking that same dose.you gotta start back on a low dose are you'll O.D..peace
How can you taper when your addictive behavior makes you want to take more and get high. As soon as you take more your right back where you started. I’m considering going back to opiates for 6 months to then go to suboxone for a week.
Vivitrol
That's way too quick, and 2mg is way too much to jump from.
Great videos but I disagree about blood thinner being close to it. I think if a person tapers slow and weighs it out dropping very slowly
I’d love to explain my position get more opinions. Responding is ok. I really took this video to heart and had similar experiences.
