Bravo Nigel. I have quite literally seen hundreds and hundreds, or maybe a thousand reactions to this masterpiece alone. This channel is about YOU, not the music/video, and you are one of the very few people who actually ‘gets it’ and understands the point of a reaction channel. The music video takes up about ¼ of the screen, and your face easily takes up the remaining ¾ of the screen, without not much of the room behind you showing through. Perfect balance! The reaction on your face is priceless, it’s as big as the screen, and larger than life itself. Same goes to your reaction of the official video. Once again, Bravo!

I never fail to get chills every time I hear him sing this. If you ever have the chance to see them in concert, do it. I promise, it doesn’t matter where you sit, it’s worth it. I’ve seen them once and they played this during the set.

I'm so surprised that you managed to hold off on the tears till the end, Doll baby! I never can. Imagine the perfect production that supported that perfect voice. For a live performance it would be like skating on a knife edge of control.
David had the flu and was running a high temperature so the band made him sit. He was extremely nervous about the performance but as you can tell he slayed it.
It's funny to me that a singer, with that much talent, would get nervous before singing. He just wants perfection everytime, he sure as hell nails it, everytime. Thank you David .
David Draiman...a voice God given...his voice is like the 4th instrument in the band....have never heard a timbre like his. Can go from baritone with vibrato to tenor , from clear as crystal to grit and back on a dime! His control is awesome. Have never in all my years heard such a voice!

So many years later ... as I watch you watch this ... and at the end we both end up sobbing in the exact same way. I'm 62 now, and I've watched so many reaction videos to this most awesome rendition. But the way you and I end up collapsing and sobbing in the exact same way years later ... I can almost feel us falling into each others arms just to sob together and the world be damned as we feel what this song meant decades ago and indeed, today.

With almost 700 million views, this masterpiece is massively the best performance ever! The best and most spell binding sexiest manly voice I've ever heard. Way better than the original. It cuts right through one's soul. I watch and listen to this song on repeat, when I wake up in the morning, to and from work, when I get home, and I watch 3-5 reactions before I go to sleep, then the next day, I do it all over again everyday in the last 6 weeks since I found it in the Netflix movie called Into the Badlands. I love watching everyone who watches this for the first time. I had the same reactions, it's a shame it took me this long to ever hear of this group. Though like other groups, this genre is not their typical metal it has earned a new group of people who appreciate the conviction in his voice and will follow them.
I was so awed by this when I first saw it years ago. He sounds as amazing live as he does in his mv. I just love this song period and with him singing it makes it more beautiful. My 11 year old daughter loves to listen to this band, the PG versions LOL!
Shockingly, it's not the only emotional, waterworks-heavy song from Disturbed - I'm yet to watch the official live video for their "Hold on to Memories" without needing a Kleenex, well, almost immediately.

I would also recommend "the light" and "pain redefined" for emotionally fueled songs. But literally just pick any song, literally any song from them, and you'll be amazed each time.

To truly understand and appreciate David’s vocal abilities, you NEED to react to Disturbed’s “down with the sickness” (both studio and live performances), you won’t regret it
He did get angry because they auto-tuned his voice which he does not need at all

*In Your video David glances to the right (towards the sound guy) at 2:52 then at 3:08 looks directly at the sound guy, and again at 3:40 with his hand raised (I like to interpret those looks like this: 1)What!?, 2)Are you F:ing kidding me and 3)Stop that right NOW)-
*He was so angry at the sound guy for using AutoTune, that He skipped the scheduled interview with Conan and walk straight out.
*Paul Simon himself actually posted a link to this performance on his FB page.
*David did indeed have a mild cold in this one, a minor cold doesn't even slow down a consummate professional (David is a professionally trained Cantor).

I personally like the official video better, because when he was on Conan he was sick for one thing, & I believe he also was autotuned. David was trained as a Cantor in Synagogue, & his voice is incredible.
the song is a warning about our addiction to cell phones always looking at our screens hence people talking without speaking=texting people hearing without listening= when you hear people talking around you but your so absorbed by your phone that you don't really hear them and finally the people bow and pray to the neon god they made= when you are cradling your phone in your hands staring at it for hours on end it looks as tho your worshiping it the song warns of one day this being common place where the world is silently staring at their phones hence the sound of silence.
