What an awesome way to end the day!!!! I once thought I was hard core but doing two alpine lakes and river after a long drive takes everything to the next level! So glad you went back to your jig and got the nice hookups. What an epic brown! Congrats 🎣👍🏾🎣👍🏾
Right on. Those Eastern Sierra trips are a 36 hour grind. I describe the process in a clip on my variety playlist called the Anatomy of my Eastern Sierra trips. You are right, this was a great way to end the day.
Good luck when you go. My heart was pounding too. When my line got wrapped up on the bank I thought I was toast! I have a bunch of content for the area you are heading to on my backcountry fishing and hiking playlists, lakes and reservoirs fishing playlist, and river fishing playlist that could help you shape your plan of attack!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 I always use your video for info. good stuff..I share your video with all my fishing friend too :) I am going to try a Marabou Jig, You seem to do very well with them, last time on Mary and Twin I killed it with a green rooster tail on a boat.Looks like the weather is cooling down.
Nice! Sounds like some real good times Being in a van close to the river back when the Eastern Sierra was more wild than it is today. If I had a time machine I'd like to go back and meet you there. I was born in 71' so I might not qualify as an old timer but I'm certainly no spring chicken!
I'm excited that the high's in the eastern Sierra look to be dropping 10 degrees soon. I'm ready for the frigid lows and less mosquitoes that come with Fall in the Eastern Sierra.
I'm heading out and fishing this river hard for at least a couple of days when the temps drop later in the fall. This was just a quick stop. This waterway deserves more, undivided attention!
You are the man, what a nice fish, beautiful Brown to save the day, brookies are nice but that Brownie was awesome, another amazing adventure with "Wilderness with Amani" Lets GO!!, catch you next time.
Thanks for the video. That was a beautiful brownie. That area of the Owens river has been my favorite since is was 12 yrs old. I would camp with my parents and fish for trout. I can't walk the river like I use to. Last year I camped on the other side of the bridge at Brown's campground.
Right on. If you are like me, once you get out there and maybe get in some fishing I feel like a kid again. Fishing is my time machine! Hope you had a great time when you went back out there to camp. I'm sure it brought back some sweet memories.
That was a good quick session for sure. The West Walker along the 395 is rushing but looks really fishable. I think I'm going to scout some river fishing up the 108 before too long.
I was fired up because I thought my day was done when I lost that nice rainbow. I had already flat out quit. One thing is for sure, even after I quit I always have time for a few more casts. It's moments like nailing that big brown late that make it nearly impossible to give up after fishing for a reasonable amount of time. I'm always ready to grind it out!
Thanks. I can't wait until it cools down a little more and I have time to spend a day fishing that river right! My two clips form this year I got nice fish but it was only during quick stops on my way home or to another destination.
Hey Amani! I HATE rattlesnakes!! All snakes but especially those bastards!! Do you see alot of them with all the hiking around you do, and any close calls?? @@wildernesswithamani1027
Good job, I've fished that exact stretch more times than I can count.. Browns are typically more active in pre-dawn and twilight times... Great fish. Good thing you dropped some cash on a new reel and line... Take care brother...
Love it Amani ! Beautiful fish! Text book job of fighting him! The Owen’s is so beautiful isn’t it! I nicknamed it the Nile, with cattails and reeds fishing in a Desert Oasis! That Owen’s gorge was probably the brown trout fishery in the West! Great video I love your energy and positivity! Jig fishing master! Dan Brent
Right on. I love the way browns can be so aggressive when they strike. Sometimes, when they want what I'm throwing it seems like there's nothing that could get in there way. Now, I will admit that a lot of the time they will follow it or swipe at it and then never show themselves again. It can be very frustrating!
That was a heck of a day. It started at 3am when my alarm went off in Reno. I'm glad it had a happy ending because when that brown had me wrapped up in the weeds on the river bank I thought I was done!
Armani. Earlier this week I was headed to Fallen Leaf Lake for Mackinac. I passed a sign that said Logan schoal. Is this the Logan Beach you fished at? Thanks G PS. Largest Mackinac I got was 20.5 inches. Beautiful and super good eating
Yeah. It's not really a beach. It's just a vista point with trails down to the lake. I have a a few clips for that area on my lake Tahoe shore fishing playlist.
You got that right. The last minute hook set, the battle where I thought I was going to lose it because my line got wrapped up on the bank, it was an emotional explosion!
It was not. It hasn't been there in the last two clips I put up for the Owens. It was definitely there big time when I fished there 4 or 5 months back. Every cast was loaded with it and I quit after 20 minutes.
OMG ! Save the BEST for last ! That brown was huge. Owens river , on my Bucket List. Thx for another super video. 👍👍 p.s. Do you have an email I can contact you??? Thx
I have direct messaging on my Patreon site. I thought I had already failed once that nice rainbow shook my barbless jig. Getting this brown after I had already shot my conclusion segment and given up was like yanking a homerun to win the game in the bottom of the ninth. It ain't over until it's over!
I use 6lb mono and a 5' ultralight rod. Many people would be consider my rod to be too small for battling larger trout in swift water but I love the challenge of getting those fish into the net on that light tackle. I use Trilene XL 6lb clear mono because I can cast my jigs/lures far if I need to.
I have more upper and lower Owens river action on my river fishing playlist. I have a bunch of Eastern Sierra fishing across my channel's fishing playlists if you haven't seen a lot of it and are interested.
I've been using cheap crappie jigs from Bass Pro shops, Cabela's or Scheels. They fall apart easily so I need to reinforce them by a few wraps of black yarn. There are way better jigs on the market but they are more expensive obviously. I have a clip on my fishing tips playlist where I go over different types of marabou jigs I have had success with since I first started using them a few years ago.
It did for me on this day. I was already headed to my car with a feeling of defeat after losing that nice rainbow. Moral to the story, even after you officially quit just keep casting!
This is actually the upper Owens upstream from the Benton Road bridge in the special regulation section. I recently posted a video fishing a stretch below the browns campground. I fished the section just above Lake Crowley that same day for my Patreon and the fishing was hot all the way around. For the videos I shot below the campground and bridge I drove down some sketchy dirt roads to reach the river but it was manageable. I basically just turn on the various dirt roads leading towards the river and see where they take me. I fish whatever is at the end of the road!
For how much you fish get some good gear , I know you like to tinker and fix stuff, but come on man, your like an Olympic skier using bear trap bindings. 🤨🤔😉
Most of my money goes to being able to get out and fish every week. Gas is a lot of it. Just get me to the water and I'll use what I have. My fly rod is made of components of two different 4 piece rods again. Someday if I'm making more money off of content, perhaps I'll roll a little fancier. Until then, I'm happy to fish quality water and get nice fish in the net. I spent all of my money living at the beach and having a good time for a couple of decades!

Right on. Landing that fish was everything at a that moment. It had been a long hard day of fishing.
That Brown was very nice! You were one excited dude!

Yeah. I had already covered those weeds on the bottom on my way out. Glad I took a second to take one more dip.
Amani, you’ve been killing it today. How were the skeeders at the Owens?
They were bad but not as bad as they were in the clip I put up several weeks ago. They were off the charts the charts then.
