This was quite the trip for videos and success, well don! Upper middle lower trifecta! Love hearing you voice your fishing approach and strategies with use all!
Best trip I have had on this river system between Patreon and TH-cam. I am usually happy to get one good one in the net for each video I'm shooting. Heck, I'm usually happy with one in my usual 36 hour trip!
I get that. It's awesome out there. I try to fish here at least twice a year between my Patreon and TH-cam channel. Hope you can make it out at some point. It's far from where most of us live.
Yeah, this was a trip of trips when it comes to river fishing. I was actually on my standard 36 hour overnight which includes 7+ hours of driving and sleeping in my car. If I had it in me to sleep one more night in that freezing weather and then drive home in the morning it would have been 48 hours. I couldn't do it! It was cold! One night was enough!
I love it too. I actually fished all the way out to the lake when I fished it for Patreon a few weeks back and the area close to the lake was fairly shallow and featureless. I hit some big trout near the lake in the past though and I think I'll definitely get back out there when the flow is back up. The big brown in my last highlight clip came from the general area I was fishing on this trip. That was the one I was talking about having hit a few weeks back for Patreon. That thing was a beast!
Right on. What a couple of hours out there. I don't expect to see production this good over such a short time again. I will certainly be hoping for it though!
You're telling me. That was a typical overnight trip I do in the Eastern Sierra where I leave Tuesday morning and drive home Wednesday evening. That 36 hours includes 7+ hours of driving and sleeping in my car when it's dark. I can say this was the best river fishing I have ever had in that time span since I started my channel over 5 years ago. I could easily make a highlight clip with the fishing I did for Patreon and TH-cam on this trip which never happens.
No, I was fishing 1/8oz marabou jigs. I have a clip on my fishing tips playlist that details the types of 1/8oz jigs I have had success with since I first started using them a few years back if you are interested in that information. wooly bugger would work for sure but I can get those jigs deeper and do more with them as the situation changes. really fun on a small ultralight rod.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 thank you. It is amazing how well you can fish and video at the same time. I commend you on your composure. Your commentary is so useful and informative. Keep up the great work!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 the big Owens browns will absolutely tear your heart out. The most difficult large fish to get to hand of anywhere I have ever fished. They end up haunting you forever.
Right on. It looks like Winter is here. It's cold at night and reservoirs will be turning over soon. I prefer freezing over hot any day of the week I'm fishing.
1/8oz marabou jig. If you go to my channel playlists I have a clip on my fishing tips playlist where I go over the types of jigs I have had success with in rivers. In most of my river fishing playlist videos I am using them. The more experience I get using them the better I seem to get at it. I recommend giving them a shot.
I'd probably target the bigger trout with some sort of streamer if that's all I was hoping for. Most likely my inexpensive beadhead whooly buggers I always seem to be using! That type of fishing can be slow and require a lot of walking because once they've seen it and don't hit it, you might as well move on. It's a lot like the jig fishing I do. If I just wanted to mix it up id throw some nymphs into the equation. I'd definitely catch more fish drifting nymphs through some of those sections.

@wildernesswithamani1027 parents took me their when I was little .54 now,I wanna say we camped near silver lake, and tried the river on the way home to the bay area.IF that sounds right. Lol hard to remember that far back
Right on. Sometimes the fishing is just tough. A lot of the times I fish out there I'll get one shot at a good trout in hours of fishing and getting that one fish in the net is all that stands between success and getting skunked. That's why I freak out when I lose a nice fish. You don't always get a second chance!
Thanks for the info. I always walk that fine line of 4lb or 6lb. I was able to look back in one of your videos fishing the river and found the info as well. Just want to thank you and tell you all the effort and time you put into these videos doesn't go unnoticed. Wish all the success you want with your channel. Right on. I have a clip or two for it on my river fishing playlist but I definitely would like to get out there again now that it has cooled down a lot.
Right on. This whole couple hours out there was awesome! Never had a span of time out there this good and won't be surprised if I never have another one like it again. I'm usually glad to get one trout like these in the net after several hours of fishing.
Trifecta complete.... now get back to work. That battle-tested net needs to be hanging on a wall in some lodge. Looks like it's been run over by a semi but it still keeps bringin' in the big ones.
Love your passion and energy, keep having a blast!
Right on. I had a ton of fun out there on this day.
I love fishing the Owens. Look at that view!
This was a fantastic couple hours out there before driving home.

Love that stretch of the river. The closer to Crowley you get the better the fishing. Good day.

Gotta love the Owens Trifecta. I'll bet a few trifectas in Breeders Cup Saturday.
Good luck Amani and viewers.
Good luck on the Breeders cup action! Box that trifecta!
I enjoy watching you catch fish. Haven't seen you get a soaking lately! Tight lines!
When it gets cold I am more careful about soaking prevention! Still, I have a few clips on my channel playlists where I end up in the freezing drink!
Those were some beautiful fat rainbows & browns you pulled out. I can't imagine what the one you lost look like. Awesome !
The one I lost was a beast! My heart almost stopped when that line went limp!

How deep are the deep holes in this river? 6'-8'? Awesome fishing!
It really varies. There are deep holes that probably get up to 10' but a lot of it is probably 3'-7'. Of course, that is a wild estimation!
Great day of fishing. Snow coming tonight here where you fish locally. Be save and stay well.

Yeah, I want to get out there in October. Seems like the ideal time. Not too hot, not too cold. Maybe next year.
It was great out there. I am thinking about hitting it in the Winter or early Spring before the season opens.
Awesome man. You’re quite skilled great content.
Thank you. What a time out there.
If you were to fly fish that, what would you be throwing? What would be your set up?

@ thank you. I’ll check it out!
Wow, totally forgot about that river, haven't fished it in probably 40 years
Sounds like 40 years too long to me! It can be tough out there but sometimes it all comes together. I love it out there.

1/8oz barbless Marabou jigs. There is a clip on my fishing tips playlist where I discuss the types of jigs I have had success with in rivers.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 thanks
I fished there in July and could not catch anything. Probably too hot, middle of day. Will try next October. But,you made it worthwhile.

I use clear 6lb Trilene Xl mono with a 5' ultralight rod. Most of the tackle I use can be found in videos on my fishing tips playlist.

Such a solid couple of hours. I might not see a day like this again. Usually I'm stoked just to get one good fish.

I have three nets now and this one is by far in the best shape. The other two really just need to go in the trash but I love having my back ups.
Stay busy
Always! I wish I could go back there tomorrow!
