That was great with a bit of sense of humor thrown in! I have used the Kirby vacuum cleaner and shampooing system for 23 years now and it cleans and brings the carpet up to looking brand new again and smelling great. You put the foam on the carpet first, leave it for 20 minutes to soak in and do its work and then you come back and finish off by go all over it again, this time with the suds control turned off. What you can't see happening underneath is a squeegee and a brush roll rotating which really cleans the carpet well. When you have finished, the carpet is just a little damp and dries very quickly afterwards. One tank full of water goes a long way. You can see the difference in the carpet afterwards, it looks very bright and clean. So whatever is in the foam does an excellent cleaning job!
I was NOT expecting to laugh so hard while being reminded how to use my shampoo system! I watched it twice just to laugh. Now we'll see if I was paying enough attention through my giggles to shampoo my carpet! Thank you - Well done.
I just pulled this exact vacuum with all the parts, boxes of parts, and all bottles of shampoo out of the dumpster, and it works perfectly! Also, greatest music and demo of any video out there, thumbs UP! :) Thanks!
Loved it! I figured out mine wasn't working right because I didn't have the right music going...and I hadn't installed the red filter thing. Without that setup, it threw down the full tank of solution in about 2 minutes, with nearly no foam. Now, with music and filter, it actually puts down foam, and 2/3 of the solution is left after a 10x10 area. That's the problem with only using something every 6 months or so. Thanks for the quick and entertaining video! And FWIW, the Franklin brand solution worked great.
Thanks for sharing this! A neighbor gave me this vacuum and I had no clue how to use it. I have a new puppy so this will be a big help. Your video was so easy to understand and clear and the music was such an original and cute touch!
Thank you for this video, I had a home fire a few years ago, and amazingly my Kirby vacuum survived the fire, but the user manual perished among other things. I got the runaround over the net trying to locate the manual for my model.
When I was young I used my mom's 1973 vintage Kirby Classic Omega with the shampooer to do the carpets in a rented flat when I moved out. It saved me a hundred bucks or so and they looked better than when I moved in. It's kind of funny looking but it's a good system and it really works. BTW I still have mom's old brown Kirby, shampooer and all. It still cleans great.
I am thinking of buying me a Kirby Sentria found one selling down the street from me for $55 in great shape with all attachments so decided to see what it's all about, love the music makes me feel happy
@@debbielivingston192 lol I did and it came with the box of attachments. When I moved my momma wouldn't let me take it from her home lol but I did end up finding a G Six model for $80 (no attachments). My momma passed a little over a year ago so now I have both Kirbys still working and cleaning
That's cool! I was singing that very song in the shower just this morning. Thanks Goodvac. But, seriously, you guys do have the best prices on the Kirby parts and accessories.
The "Trololo song" is a trivia question! (in "Draw Something"!) But that was FUNNY in addition to educational! (loved the fake leg!...fighting!) and in sync too!
Thank you! I found the book confusing and the official Kirby video too fast. Plus, they skipped the most important part(for me): how to put it together. The music is a real ear worm, I’m going to be driving my husband crazy with humming it. The humor was great. Thanks again!
Great vacuums. Used to sell them, but honestly if you want the best deal - buy mint on eBay and you'll save a LOT of money. The fake leg was great btw.
God bless you for having a sense of humor and for those of you annoyed by the music learn how to turn the volume down on your phone or mute it. If you don't know how to do that I suggest you get off this tutorial and look up the tutorial on how to use your phone have a nice day ALL :)
Thanks :-) The song was a product of the Soviet era when lyrics of every song was a subject to scrutiny to making sure that it complies with ideology standards. So he and a few others found the way around it.
It does not have to be Kirby shampoo. Any FOAMY carpet solution would work. So if this is not Kirby shampoo make sure you buy one that makes foam as there are many carpet cleaning solutions that specifically designed NOT to make foam. If you are using Kirby shampoo you would need 3 shampooer tank caps for full tank of water. If this is a different brand - refer to instructions on the bottle
@evilpeopledotco red plug/screen is the thing that turns soapy water into foam. This plug used to be different color and if you have Kirby G3 or G4 then it was a "CAP" not a plug. Cap design has been discontinued and you have to buy whole tank now. Sometimes they may stay within the hose so check there.
This video was produced by someone that has a great sense of humor...... LOL Made my day, I needed a good laugh, and when I seen that mannequin foot in action, LOL Loved It ! Thanks folks for a good video.... It serves it's purpose for sure.
Got 2 Kirby’s. First one is 12 years old still works fantastic, can’t praise this vacuum cleaner enough....just don’t bother with the carpet system. You will be soooo disappointed. Messy, doesn’t clean. Use a lot of cleaning agent, leave you exhausted, with nothing to show for your effort. I’m Getting a Bicel carpet washer for myself for that purpose
Don't be fooled. this guy made it look so easy, it's silly. But, watch carefully to the details. He shows right. Don't forget One cup of shampoo per line of water.
Debbie Martin This or dishwasher soap would do phenomenal job. Shampoo designed for carpets contains chemical that would protect fiber from dirt sticking to it once it is clean. Tide detergent hopefully does not have that but would leave carper unprotected so it would get dirty much faster. But hey - less chemicals maybe is good on the other hand...
You need ONE cap of Kirby shampoo for each 1/3 of the water in the water tank. If you have water container full of water - just use 3 caps. Use COOL water.
Oh, one more thing. It doesn't leave a ton of soap and water on the carpet. The foam is very light and kind of dryish and in the 20 minutes that you leave it on, it disappears into the carpet. And one tank of water can do a couple of rooms, and as I said before, leaves the carpet almost dry at the end. Very easy to do.
I have this exact model, and when shampooing, it doesn't seem to extract as much water back up as it did at first. After emptying a complete full reservoir, and going back over to pick up suds, the pick up tray isn't even a 1/3rd full. I seem to remember the pickup tray overflowing and needing to empty it more often. Is something wrong?
I found out the main problem. The orange/red filter piece (1:28) falls out on mine sometimes, ends up wedged in the line. That causes it to not foam up as much as it should, and the carpet just gets wet. Also, just making sure the brush assembly is clean of anything like dog hair.
I found out about the dog hair too. Was going to post my findings, but you beat me to it ;-) I made the mistake of using my other vacuum (Dyson Animal Ball) to do my vacuuming, and there was still a ton of lint and hair on the shampoo brush.
This is not like one of those "extractors". There is no suction at all when removing the suds from the rug. The way this works - It uses foam to spread small amount of water on the carpet. Thus is does not soak but barely moistens the fibers and gets dirt loose. So you should not wait too long before picking it up otherwise moisture will get absorbed by carpet. When you going back over the spot shampoo was applied - brush roller spins and scrubs the dirty water off the fibers and throws it into the tray. Some of the moisture and dirt would still stay on the carpet. When it dries ingredients in shampoo would not let the dirt stick back to the carpet. So it is HIGHLY recommended to vacuum the carpet after it completely dries. As of barely any or none of the dirty water in the tray (assuming that may happen due to 3 reasons. 1 - You did not have the tray all the way down to the carpet so brush is not even reaching the rug to scrub. 2 - You are letting the foam to sit on the rug too long so it gets absorbed and/or dries. 3 - Carpet is very old and/or very dirty and ir absorbs the moisture very fast so it cannot be scrubbed off by the brush. Therefore you should use only carpet stain removers as they should contain some chemicals that would cover carpet fibers with protective - dirt/moisture repellent film. While multi surface spot removers like 409, Orage stuff or even dishwasher soap would be very effective removing stains - that area of the rug would get dirty and very hard to wash as soon as in a week.
The "filter" a.k.a. suds screen MUST be there properly installed in the tank. This is the part that turns the soapy water into the foam. It is known issue when it easily falls out . You can use lighter to heat up the clear plastic neck and then squeeze it a bit making filter to fit tighter (do not set your house on fie or burn your fingers). Do NOT glue it in as sometimes you may have to remove it to clean it.
Hey chewy - you can buy 3 new Kirby's for $5k and there's no such thing as "steam" cleaning - it's called hydro-extraction. In other words "soak 'n suck". Kirby sucks dirt out of your carpet not money out of your bank account.
These days vacuum cleaners made from are plastic and have a 1-2" hose attached to the brush housing. Problem: plastic breakes and the hose becomes clogged. When the hose clogges your running around looking for a screwdriver to remove the hose. I just got fed up with these cheap vacuum cleaners that claim they are as powerful as a tornado. Fed up, I tore down my moms 1965 Kirby Dual Sanitronics and rebuilt it. The vac gave my mom 45 years of service and now it's ready for more years to come.
Mine does all minus the part that picks up the water after soaping the carpet I see that you turn off the thing but do you stay on the Red D or do you switch to N to pick up the water ?
I'm having issues with my belt not connecting to hold the brush and tray together. All is good until I turn it until the green arrows match. My brush doesn't move and the tray falls apart. I'm very frustrated. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
+Kamela Graham You are not doing it right. You have to install the front piece as if you were installing the nozzle. When pelt properly engages front shaft with the brush roller it holds everything together. See detailed instructions here: www.goodvac.com/articles.asp?id=143
Thank you. I did finally get it to work but what happened is that the belt I was given in my box was too small. I used the belt from my vacuum and it worked. Thanks for getting back to me it is greatly appreciated.
My shampooer is not laying down the foam. Does the shampoo go bad? I have cleaned out the entire system, but no foam - except sporadically in a little strip in the middle. The shampoo I am using is pretty old - ie year or more. (It worked last time I used it about 2 months ago). Just curious. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. (Kirby Sentria).
Make sure that nozzle os lowered all the way down on the carpet. Check if the tiny round screen is installed in the tank where you put the hose on. It also happens that after people rinse and clean the tank they use paper towel or toilet tissue to dry it inside and particles clog up the air passages in the valve. Shampoo would not go bad for years so unless you have something from last decade - you should be OK. I am not sure how well shampoo would perform if you freeze it many times over tho..
There are 3 lines on the tank. Depending on how large area you are doing you would fill the tank (with COOL water) up to 1st , 2nd or third line. EACH of these lines get 1 cap-full of Kirby shampoo. Well, at least this video shows the way to use it, By pulling back to shampoo and to also to pull back to pick up the suds.

It had me giggling until the pointy heel fought the foot, then I was rolling!

Question. Are those shampoo you used 3 times? Also, I need to use water along with the shampoo right?

EACH of these lines get 1 cap-full of Kirby shampoo. If you are using other than Kirby

you need to read the manufacturers notes on how to dilute it.
Question: What is the capacity of the tank cup? This part is missing so I need to measure the amount of shampoo using another vessel. Please help!
so do you add any water to the shampoo? i have been adding water the whole year i've had this system.
Why did you put the TROLL song in this video
