Wow your box looks in way better shape than mine lol thanks for posting this I couldn't figure out how to put it together. I have two of these vacuums and I love them my grandma gave me hers and I bought one from a thrift store and when she gave me hers she had the grey attachment carrier with all the attachments and the box with the shampoo package I appreciate the video very helpful
That is hilarious that you say that. Today my son and I picked up a free mark 5 model 500 and a kirby 1cr with all the fixins. I explained to him it was like the shopsmith of vacuum cleaners. Kitchen Aids and Kirbys go inside. The shopsmith lives in the garage. All made in Ohio. :)
@kirbyman2000 There were suds just not as many as you find on the G series carpet shampoo system. The mesh screen on the G series works better to produce suds than the fabric screen on the older models.
Orson Lee The machine actually was brand new in the box after I found one unopened after 26 years in storage. It's a very beautiful machine indeed! Thanks for the note.
The nice thing is that this isn't any harder than changing the starter in a 2008 volkswagen beetle on the side of the road while its raining. Thanks for the video this helped a lot. Do I get any kind of certification :).
Definitely not an ideal place to work on a car! When I do an occasional repair on my VW (I have owned 3 to date), I don't even like doing some of them properly setup in the garage, let alone think of doing them roadside.
I prefer a extraction type machine such as the Rug Doctor, but I would say for those who do not have that option, the Kirby Carpet Shampoo System is a good alternative for maintaining wall to wall carpeting in between deep cleanings.
I’m a professional carpet cleaner. HWE is my preferred method, but I’ve found my customers wanting more and more encapsulation. I rarely pull hoses anymore. “Dry foam” cleaning is just okay. Should never be a primary method of cleaning. This is really meant for traffic area touch-ups. That said, Koblenz makes a much better dry foam machine than Kirby. Either way, if you’re going to clean your carpet like this often then make sure you have a HWE carpet restoration every 1 or 2 years.
You have to remove the brush roll screws on either end to take the brush out of the shampoo tray ok this older model. Then you can put a belt on and screw the brush roll back in.
Where does the dirty water and dirt emd up? Does it collect in the catch pan? This is my first time using my old kirby to clean the carpet with these attachments my grandma gave me her kirby with all the attachments and box because shrme bought a new one
Yea the dirt and suds end up in the tray. Check out this video which shows how the carpet shampoo system is setup and used. th-cam.com/video/z33PPzoGBzg/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the vid did everything like u but suds just don't come out. what can I try next. also when i vacuum with pipe an long tube works fine with head on don't seam to pick up and ideas
Actually water damages, and deteriorates the carpet. This is a drying foam acts like dry cleaning. You spray foam, it dries bring the dirt to the surface, then you vacuum it. DO YOU UNDER STAND THE PROCESS? Kirby user, (home Inspector) So I see the damage water does to houses.
I learned how to vacuum with a Heritage II was a great machine

I picked up a Heritage 1 on the curb today with the boxes of attachments and docs. It is funny how they do everything. It reminds me of a Shopsmith.

It looks awesome all polished up

Great Kirby! Very clean. Don't stand near the sink like that, it's very distracting lol.
I can get away with it :(

Can i ask you if you kept the carpet washer attachment pristine cause if you did then WELL DONE! it looks new
Do you have a video on how to use the hand upholstery cleaner

It's supposed to stretch. It takes quite a bit of work to get it stretched the first time!
can you show me how to change the shampooer belt. i have tried to take out brush to put on new belt but ubable to do it.

How do you replace the belt on the shampooer? Can’t pull apart. I have a Heritage II.
It’s a pain in the ass. You have to unscrew one end, pull the axel out to release it from the tray, replace the belt, the reassemble.
Good job, but why are you wearing your shoes?
@mieleguy1999 It was brand new in the video - had never been used before.
@mariahcareyboy1996 I have the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro, but no longer have the Proheat 2X.
Thanks for the vid did everything like u but suds just don't come out. what can I try next. also when i vacuum with pipe an long tube works fine with head on don't seam to pick up and ideas
The newer models have a suds control valve that needs to be open in order to release suds. Did you open the valve?

Why didn't you use the Instant Suds bottle that was in the box? Seems like a waste.
William Kinkade
Why would he open a vintage bottle of shampoo. When he can just use the newer stuff that probably has a better scent
Those vintage Instant Suds may not be as effective as it was when it was new, due to age.
I thought you only could use the kirby suds
You should only use Kirby suds!
can you do this with your sentria ?
Does anyone know if the shampooer attachment will fit the Kirby Tradition model??? thanks
It is not the same micro switch it won’t fit
Sorry if the video was too short or if I was moving too fast! :)
Did you vacuum up the dry suds
If I don't have shoes on, I slip and slide on the kitchen hardwood when I'm refilling.
Bare feet is the worst thing you can do to white carpet. The oils from your feet get in it and hold tons of dirt.
make a slower motion
why am I not seeing any suds?
Nooooooooo
